With work…read moreI was finding myself taking 2 hour lunches which well isn't really something I should be doing very often just to get my hair done- she no longer took clients on weekends :/ ....so (yes I felt necessary to provide that explanation) I decided to try my good friends stylist as her hair always looks great. I was lucky to score a 5:30 appointment yesterday and get parking in their lot (score)! I found the old B&B very charming but I wasn't really sure where to go...I wished my hair dresser gave me some direction as to what room was hers. Eventually I asked another stylist and met Christy who was very polite and quickly got started right on time. She consulted with me and upfront stated her prices ... The cost was about $30 more (when you factor in tip) than my stylist who was by no means cheap...so I was really hoping to look great. I also like how my old stylist always offered a beverage...no drink here. At one point I had to let my highlights develop and was ushered into a room for a very long time- she took another client in between which I felt was a bit odd. As a result it took about a half hour longer than my old stylist - but she did apologize saying the other woman wanted her hair flat ironed. Now on to the really important part- the color really came out beautiful and she did a fantastic job with the cut and especially the style - a partial color and cut without tip was $160 - maybe standard for some but I cringed a little. Regardless, I walked out of the salon feeling like I was in an herbal essence commercial. I met up with friends later who oooh'd and ahh'd so I may stick with her for awhile...hey I can always have a glass of wine post-salon.

I have been platinum blonde before in the past for years and understood that it is a process and won't happen over night. I came in with a blonde balayage and asked her to just move the blonde up and eventually I would like to be completely blonde again. She said you do understand it's a process right? And I said, yes I understand just try your best to maintain the integrity of my hair. I have always had long hair and only get trims so my goal was to keep it as long as possible. Any way...6 hours later she takes my hair out of foils and it is BRIGHT ORANGE AND YELLOW with random PURPLE pieces from when some of my porous hair took up the toner. She did a "base break" at my roots and there were very harsh stripes (like brush lines) all around my face and it was embarrassing. She insisted on cutting it to my shoulders when I asked for just two inches off. I decided to tell her to cut it where she felt best....she cut off ALL my hair! She knew I was starting a brand new job next week and she said for me not to wash my hair, not to brush it, and to just wear my hair up for a few weeks until she can do it again. She had to go because her mother in law was in town and she was running late. She charged me....wait for it.... 600$ for this!!!!! She said it would be considered a "color correction" and she charged 100$/hour (at first she tried to charge 150$/hour but when she saw my jaw drop she said she could do 100$). I was in tears at this point. I thought she was kidding. She NEVER discussed the price with me beforehand. I didn't think it would be over 200-300$ max. I have never paid that much for my hair before....ever. AND she cut it all off :( I tried to talk with her about the price because if I had known it would be that much to begin with, I wouldn't have went through with it. I never asked to be jumped to blonde in one day- I told her I would like to start the process...this was not what I wanted. Now I have to walk around with horrendous hair, it's so embarrassing. When I called her and spoke with the manager at Salon Botanical- they refused to refund me. They said my hair wasn't finished and that I needed to come back in again in a few weeks....now I can't afford another 100$/hour service and I don't trust her touching my hair again. I am so so so upset. My hair is also falling out. No wonder she told me not to brush it because she knew it was start breaking. :( I really wish they could've at least refunded me so I could get it fixed somewhere else. Long story short: stay FAR FAR AWAY from SHARLINA. She doesn't care about her clients. I was in tears pulling my credit card out and when she handed me the devise to swipe my card, she put 20% gratuity on it (total $720) and good thing I saw instead of just signing- so I removed it. I am still so astounded that she has no empathy for me and the way it turned out. I talked to her manager/owner and she backed Sharlina up and said she rents her own booth so it was up to her whether she wanted to amend things.

I've been a first time client at many salons as I move around quite a bit and I even worked as a receptionist at a hair salon for a while, so I'd say that for the average person I have a good understanding of how they operate and how to act as a client. I needed my hair highlighted before going out of town since I couldn't get in with my normal stylist in time. I specifically picked this place based on the stylist's Instagram portfolio (Catherine Keller), who had availability at 9am, so I booked with her two days before. The appointment was booked but needed to be confirmed and since I'm no stranger to online scheduling I'm sure all she had to do in those two days was hit a button to confirm or decline. The day of rolled around and at 8:30 I called, texted, and Instagram messaged Catherine since my appointment had not been confirmed. I didn't hear back so out of respect for her time, I drove 30 mins for my appointment. I walked in and there was music playing in the back and I could hear someone talking but the place was otherwise completely empty. I wasn't about to wander around since I honestly felt like I was intruding so I called, texted, and DMed again. I sent one last message around 9:30 saying that I was still here and that I'd be leaving soon unless I heard otherwise from her. At 9:35 I got an email that they had declined my 9:00 appointment. Screenshot included. Honestly I'm just super frustrated as I really needed this confidence boost and went out of my way (1 hour round trip) to be a respectful client only to be completely ignored. This is super unprofessional and I have never seen something like this since stylists/salons usually value their time and have strict policies to protect them. If a client is able to book an appointment with you, the least you can do is confirm or deny BEFORE their appointment time! Then I might have been able to find somewhere else to go at the very least, but now my only time window for this has been wasted. Needless to say I won't try again. Do better
