Why in the world have I been going to these other stylist who need me to do part of their job (shampoo and blow dry, go buy the hair), yet pay them like they've done all the work; sorry, I digressed!!!!!.....Anyway, Jaydin was friendly and professional, and she did not hurt my head because I'm very tender headed. 33 Fingers is going to get sick of seeing me because I'm a customer for life now; totally sold on 33 Fingers. A simple rod set was my request and though she didn't have the traditional rods the long cushion rollers worked just as good and this chic was very fast, I swear she rolled my hair in 20 minutes or less...quite impressive as I have experienced much longer roll time for this particular style. I expect very few things when dealing with salons especially if I am a first time client........ things that I consider no brainer's and they are....some line of questioning about my hair(history, etc.), a general idea that healthy hair is your priority, thorough shampooing of my hair, and the benefit of being able to explain how I like my hair.......simple. I realize that all stylist are clearly not created equal but some things in my opinion are just the standard. I was satisfied with the result of my hair but it may take a bit more for a second visit.

When I called for appt ... I specifically asked for "color specialist" ... I was told Id have appt…read morewith a very experienced stylist. I asked if it was a senior stylist and was told no... but the junior stylist was VERY good with color. I expressed how important that I have someone good. I was assured they were. I came for appt - and stylist was sweet, I talked with her about wanting cool highlights so theyd blend with the gray l had coming in on the crown. I also showed her photos/examples of the cool blonde highlights I wanted - and told her since I pull hair back 99% of the time that the front needed to have more highlights around face/like face framing. And it was just a partial highlight mainly on crown of head. She then had me show her photos again. I felt like communication was clear and she understood. She put me in foils and told me shed be back in 45 minutes. I then tried to listen to a documentary on my phone but there was no wifi. It literally said "no connection" under the CarmenCarmen guest link. I then asked receptionist If I could use the employee one which required a passcode to which she said she didnt know what the passcode was. Then there was another CarmenCarmen wifi link (again needed passcode) - and she said she didnt know that one either. So I sit there just staring at a mirror for 45 min. Not even offered a magazine! I did try the wifi couple more times. I thought it was working but it was still "not connected"... I just gave up. Anyway, I was eventually rinsed out and a toner had to be applied. Which told me its likely hair didnt lift enough. I was still hopeful though. When she removed towel at chair I could clearly see there was no lightness in the front. It looked the same wet - as it did at home - before appt. I waited until it was blown out to see if maybe it was "ok". But the highlights werent even a cool tone. They are golden/ brassy. She asked if I liked it - and I asked if she thought it had a brassy tone to it?!? She said "well do you have any purple shampoo at home"?? I said I did have some purple conditioner - its like a hair mask kind. I didnt want to hurt her feelings so I said "well it looks better than when I came in" bc she "did" cover my gray with brown and that was ok - but in my mind Im thinking its deff not what I was expecting/wanted. The highlights are not fluid, they are chunky and large gaps here and there with zero highlights at all. Some start an inch from my scalp. Some highlights are golden/orange color, some are darker. They are not even the same color but more of a mix of colors. Its seriously the worst hair appt Ive ever had. And instead of leaving feeling good, I was so upset afterwards. I then go to pay and It was $235. I would have GLADLY paid $500 to get a senior stylist who had more experience. I still left a $40 tip bc she was at least a sweet girl - and its close to the holidays. So for $275 I got very brassy uneven BADLY placed highlights and a root wash. Oh and did I mention there was a ball of hair like a rats nest that I had to keep stepping around to get in/out of chair?!? Yea there was that too lol. NOT at all the level of service I had in the late 90's when Carmen did my hair. I live an hour and half away - depending on traffic - so definitely not worth the drive nor the money. HARD PASS on this salon!! Update: I called and they did offer to fix the highlights but Id have to come back to the same location - which I declined. I said Id go to North Lake location which is closer - but that wasnt an option.

I got 1/2 of it out by myself with some help from my mom. Yama and her staff at Bex helped me finish and were reasonable with the cost. I watched several customers come and go and all were pleased. The employees here were quick and kind. Until I got desperate and looked for local braiding salons, I had not heard of this one although Yama says they have been around for 11 years. Based on this experience and the styling I saw, I will definitely return here for my next protective style.

Definitely recommend Bex African Hair Braiding. I will definitely be back. All three ladies were pleasant. The braiding was fast, and secure. I expected to be in tears, with the horror stories I've heard from other people going to other places. It's tight, but not killing me. They didn't even braid my edges as I requested.

As another (past client) stated in her review- poor haircut- not layered well. Paid extra for an 'In depth' consultation- which I did not receive. I have never had someone so rough in simply brushing my hair and later blow drying, along with being so sullen in interactions. When the owner of a salon treats you, as a new client ( or any time period client) in such a derogatory manner- while I remained pleasant and polite- which was not easy - it leaves such a negative impression- honestly one that I have never had from any hair salon I have been to. I moved recently from ATL (40 yr resident ) and never had to pay a deposit- and certainly never had such rude treatment. She didn't tell me what products she used or recommended, she didn't even give me a mirror to look at the back and sides of my new cut. I was then charged extra at checkout for long hair- when that was not presented up front and my hair is barely to the shoulders --NOT long, or thick or difficult. No receipt was provided either. I rightfully disputed this service with my credit card - after the service charge processed- - to then be awakened this morning at 7:24am by 7 phone calls in rapid succession & VM from Nicole- this is beyond comprehension. If you were really interested in understanding my salon experience - you would have called during your ( and my) normal business hours and at 'one' - unanswered phone call- left a professional courteous VM-

After trying two or three other stylists ~ which was an experience! ~ I was lucky to find Joanna. Joanna is hilarious, sweet, thoughtful, and wildly talented. I see her once a month for color and a cut. She keeps my hair a vibrant red and cuts it into a funky pixie that looks half-elf and half-hellion. And if someday I want to switch to a matronly blonde bob, she'll excel at that, too. The salon itself is comfortable and relaxing. The only drawback is that parking can get tight.

And I can't or were able to complain because I'm alway satisfy with her works. She takes her time. She listen and she's happy when you're happy with the end results. Armed with her bubbly personalities and great customer service, I alway manage to feel good when I leave her. I came to her today because I need a retouch to cover my greys, like all ten of them. You may laugh but it is serious business. And summer is around the corner so I needed a change. I wanted the ombré highlights. But I don't like the blunt line between the dark and my highlights in the middle of my head. Beside I was little scared on how it will turn out. So with Kristin's suggestion. We decided to do a settle ombré. My retouch (close to my scalp) will be a level 4. Like a dark brown. The gradually lighten to level 6, light brown, finish with a level 8, that's like a caramel color. I love it. It's very settle. Nothing crazy. The whole salon itself was good. I wish they have a receptionist at the front at all time. For 1st timer. It can be a little confusing for them. You don't know what exactly to do but just sit down. The decor is great. Plenty of windows for natural lights. Exposé wood beams on ceiling gives it a nice touch. Overall it's a good place to be at and when she's done with me, I look gorgeous...
