This is challenging because of the small size and limited sites. I try at least six months in advance for a water site. The water sites are hard to get. I will stay at any of them they are all wonderful. The lake is very refreshing and the beach is fun. There is a huge rock in the middle of the lake that my family takes pictures at. It is quit a wonderful view. I love coming here to camp. All the campers are always friendly and polite. I have talked with many and they all think this campground is a hidden gem.

Carol Goris, called my wife's sister to tell her she needs to get her camper off the campgrounds because they have someone who is moving into her spot when the new season begins. They gave her less than 2 weeks to remove it. Come to find out the person that wanted the location she had for the last 40 Years, was the campground owner's daughter. Fast forward to making it worse. Having spent so many years there we planned a celebration of life for her Seasonal campground friends, local family and friends, and other friends and family from other states. The event was planned in February for August 6th. Two weeks prior to the event, two weeks to the day, The owner, Carol Goris (and he husband Al) told us they were cancelling us from having the event there. We asked for reasons and received none, we explained we have family flying in etc.. they still wouldn't explain and just shut us out. Needless to say, family is sad enough having to have a celebration of life, now they have the undo stress over trying to find a location in sylvan beach during the prime season in less than two weeks. Residents of the campground all will tell you how irrational the owners have become. More arguments among residents and owners, people being kicked out of the campground after disagreements with the owners. Raising their prices. Not worth it. I do not recommend.

The standard one that I was in was rather disappointing. It smelled inside, dirt on the ground and beds, the door wouldn't close all the way, and only one set of outlets, which a mini fridge was plugged into. I had a deluxe cabin two years ago which was much cleaner and taken care of. I guess it makes it seem like you're actually in the woods camping.. Also, they still don't have docks out for boats, and you can't fish.

Oh my ... where do we start!…read more Pros: Beautifully mature trees throughout the park with lovely foliage for the end of the year. Several playgrounds for kids that looked to be fairly safe to play on. Easy check-in and out with polite staff at the front desk. It was fairly cheap for a holiday weekend/3-night stay. Check-in time is 3p, but check-out is 2p which was really nice and relaxing for us. Cons: First of all, we have a 43'-trailer and we let them know this when when we scheduled it. It is thoroughly annoying to have to wait to get your receipt for booking in the mail instead of email or I'd have taken a text message. We also were not made aware before we arrived there was no wifi for free (although it says it listed in the wifi connections). They charge $4.99/4-devices every day. Once we arrived, the site was only big enough for about a 25' trailer on a loop that was extremely hard to navigate due to all the vehicles parked caddywhompus throughout the loop. Yes ... we hit something in the dark due to this. Additionally, damn near everyone (full-timers) in the park was drunk. The staff were nice enough to move us to a larger spot; however, one of the main reasons we wanted to come here was the proximity to the lake so the kids could fish. We bought firewood from the office upon arrival. The firewood was green as if they removed trees, split it, and left it damp/unseasoned. There were no picnic tables at the campsites (although we saw plenty of them stacked and/or broken down), no grates to cook over the fire rings, and the rings were at the very front of the site - no where near the entry of a standard camper. Our camper has an automatic levelling system; however, for those that don't, it will be a huge pain to level your camper side to side. Our wheels on one side weren't even touching the ground. The park is off of Sylvan Beach. It is poorly maintained and we are grateful we didn't bring the boat as that the boat launch was nothing but sand around and guaranteed we would have gotten stuck. The park looks like a cross between a run-down trailer park and a refugee camp with a lot of uncared for campers, unkempt lakes with green duckweed skimming the surface that hasn't been cleaned in forever. There are cabins and these grounds looked decent. We didn't see the bathrooms as that the doors were locked. Let's talk about the other campers: Most are seasonal long-timers. The ones we talked to were nice and polite during the day. At night, it was a whole different ball game. They were drunk, loud, had a loud speaker/karaoke machine blaring until past quiet hours, and seemed to ask A LOT of personal questions that made us feel really uncomfortable. If we, as weekenders, had acted like they had, there would have been all kinds of complaints and the cops called. All in all, this would have been a good "passing through" kind of campground if you just need to hook up for the night and keep going. We would probably never return or recommend to anyone else.

A small lake, no large motorized boats are allowed, so it is quiet and peaceful. In fact, the greatest disturbances tend to be other campers who insist on playing their music loudly. Thankfully, there is usually a good amount of space between sites, and most people respect the quiet hours. While this campground is a long way away from where I live, it is definitely worth the drive. If you are interested in fall camping, I can't even being to describe how beautiful it is to wake up in the morning to see the lake surrounded by a riot of colors.

Located close to Indian Lake, the Lewey Lake Campground has multiple entrances off of Route 30N with the main campground the furthest south and what I have labeled on the Yelp map. Keep in mind that the address does not come up properly on Google Maps or Bing maps so look at the Yelp placement for more accuracy. We were at the furthest north campsites which are pretty isolated from everyone else. The sites our group stayed at were situated right next to a stream which was great for sleeping. You couldn't hear anyone around you and even with the goings on at our lower campsite we couldn't hear them at all. There only outhouses at this location of the campground but it is a short drive to the main sites that have real bathrooms and showers along with a nice, simple beach. Despite how close it is to Route 30N, I definitely felt isolated in a good way and would highly recommend staying there for people looking for some interesting camping with reasonably convenient location.
