Reuben sandwich - 2 thin slices of corned beef.

Disappointed.. Ordered a Reuben. Most places, a Reuben comes with a mound of Corned beef. - These guys give you two thin slices - The overwhelming flavor of the sandwich is the sauerkraut. They should market it as a greasy sauerkraut sandwich with a corned beef garnish! I forget the price... something between $9 and $11. If you want fries, you pay extra. The people are friendly, the place is clean.

I don't think it has ever happened to me before. I'm pretty sure this is the first time in my life that I couldn't finish a bagel. The poppy was just completely tasteless. So then I tried the plain bagel to see if it would be any better, which makes very little sense and I was disappointed. Another thing that happened here--and seems to happen in this area--is the lady at counter looked upset that I didn't leave a tip. Sorry, I don't leave tips for counter service, and I never will. I prefer to leave positive reviews but if looking for a good bagel, this isn't the place. I gave 2 instead of 1 because she gave me napkins.

I seen the post about bad service, however, I have to say that I found the service to be very good. I was here for breakfast and I am a big fan of bagels, so that is what I went with. Prices were fair and a bagel is good. Dare I say, very good. They are located in a strip Plaza and our next to a pizzeria and a Chinese restaurant. Kind of a trifecta of good meals to select. I did find it kind of funny that these restaurants were next to a Planet Fitness. I guess after a hard workout, you can go into one of these restaurants and make up for all the calories you burned. The Sub Base & Bagel Place is a smaller establishment and it is simply furnished and decorated. Ambiance is definitely not as strong suit. However, in a place like this, if it was a little bit more fancy, it would feel out of place somehow. I definitely recommend here. Check them out.

If you're looking for a nice friendly neighborhood bagel shop, this isn't the place. I was nervous when ordered and said something along the lines of "sorry I've never been here before" and the younger girl taking my order stared at me like I was a f'ing moron. Like ok girly, thanks for the help so we awkwardly placed our order which she rang in incorrectly and then made it out to be some big deal that we had been the ones to mess up what we were ordering Moving on, it was frickin pricey for some dang bagels. When our food was ready, they just set the bag down on the counter and didn't even tell us. Thankfully the food wasn't nasty, but theattitudes were.

Pretty good food, a little off on some of the flavors but would try again and prices aren't too bad. Would recommend.

Very refreshing on a hot day. My son got a sprite. I enjoyed the crab cake sandwich, but my favorite were the sweet potato fries with this honey chipotle dipping sauce. Yummmmmmmm. I would come back for those alone! Hubs enjoyed blackened grouper sandwich with pasta salad. Son enjoyed burger but said it was overcooked. No biggie. Ask for Izzy. Get the sweet potato fries and the blueberry marg.

Looking for a fresh seafood restaurant with wild-caught shrimp and raw oysters near the beach?…read more Surprisingly, not this place. The name 'Turtle Shack' does not carry any significance. We did have clam chowder minus the clams and bits of potato normally found in most every clam chowder. It was essentially a milky broth. The fish sandwich was good. Our choice of Mahi was a nice-sized portion-control piece that had no doubt been purchased and delivered frozen, but to be fair was cooked to our liking. And it came with a large serving of crisp tasty fresh fries. The french dip sandwich was also pretty good. Plenty of shaved meat and a nice pineapple slaw side was more than enough to satisfy us. No complaints unless you thought clam chowder actually oughta have clam and potato in it, or if you were planning to enjoy fresh FL seafood at the 'Turtle Shack'. Instead, enjoy the burgers and the wings and the portion-control fish sandwich and the french dip and ignore the mis-leading name out front.

Eclectic place with pretty good food…read more Mrs and I enjoyed dinner there recently. We shared the escargot and it was delicious. Mrs liked the lobster ravioli and I had a decent steak

**Where do I even begin?**…read more We were visiting from out of town and made a reservation based on the website, which looked like it promised a five-star dining experience with a side of class. Spoiler alert: the only thing five-star about this place was how fast we wanted to leave. The red flags started immediately. The "ambience" was giving post-hurricane garage sale. And then the owner--dressed like a retired Jersey Shore cast member with a sad top-knot ponytail clinging to its last follicle--yelled from across the bar, "Welcome to the best restaurant in the county!" That was the first of many lies. We were squeezed six people into a table for four, even though there were plenty of empty tables, which we assume were reserved for ghosts or maybe just the owner's ego. Alcohol selection? Oh, just the finest! We asked for the beer list and were told there were *two* options. When we inquired about wine, the sommelier (a.k.a. the same server who forgot napkins, silverware, and the will to live) said, and I quote, "Red or white." That's not a wine list--it's a personality test. We were handed four sticky, mismatched menus with half the items violently Sharpied out like they'd been caught cheating on a test. At this point, most people would've made a break for it, but not us! No, we stayed. Because we're the kind of people who touch the stove *twice* just to be sure it's hot. We ordered the ahi tuna, escargot, and baked brie. The tuna came out looking like four sad, paper-thin slices of regret. No seasoning. No garnish. Not even a pity drizzle of sauce. Just raw fish, alone on a plate, contemplating its life choices. It tasted like someone froze a fish stick in 1993 and just now remembered to serve it. The escargot? Imagine rubber bands soaked in lukewarm garlic water. Now imagine paying money for that. The baked brie? Honestly, I blacked out at that point so I can't even tell you. After this culinary fever dream, we signaled for the check. That's when the owner reappeared, pants unbuttoned (WHY?!), and said--and this is 100% real--"Did I pissed you off?" Sir, the only thing more offensive than your grammar is your restaurant. We smiled, nodded, and lied that we had somewhere else to be, mostly because we feared telling the truth would end in a full-blown Jersey brawl in the parking lot. Final verdict: Never going back. You shouldn't go either. Save yourself. Go eat a gas station hot dog. Trust me--it'll be better.

Based on several visits to both locations -- the Palm Coast shop (about 3 times) and the Flagler…read moreBeach shop (about 2 times) -- the biggest challenge here is the customer service. The staff just isn't the friendliest in town. The interactions often feel very transactional: you're here to buy a product and I'm here to hand it to you. No greeting when entering, no real warmth when leaving -- just neutral service. It's a bit surprising when you learn the businesses are owned by a local pastor. You would assume making customers feel welcomed would be a top priority. That said, during today's visit we did see what great service could look like. A regular customer walked in and one employee greeted her enthusiastically while another double-checked her order because it wasn't her "usual." That was wonderful to see -- I just wish that same energy was given to everyone walking through the door. Now for the reason we came today. Each day they post a "name of the day" on Facebook where someone with that name gets a free donut or ice cream from their sister shop. I follow along and love letting friends know when their name pops up. I've even redeemed one myself before. It's just one of those small things that makes people smile. On Sundays we usually grab breakfast somewhere on the way to church. Last week I saw their March specialty donuts posted and one looked like something our daughter would really enjoy, so we made a detour from our usual (and cheaper) breakfast spot to stop here. And to give credit where it's due -- the donuts themselves are fantastic. They're creative, fun, and genuinely delicious specialty donuts. Not your average donut shop offering. On quality alone, the donuts are easily 5 stars. Clearly a lot of people love this place, and I can understand why -- the donuts are excellent. I just wish the everyday customer experience matched the quality of the product.
