the entrance to a sub king restaurant

Sub King of Mechanicville is a good quick place to stop for a tasty sub. I can recall stopping at Sub King in Cohoes for turkey subs a long time ago, back in the 1990s before a fire happened there in 1997 (I won't go into detail, but it made the local news). Sub King now offers 12" cold subs for $5 (plus tax), competing with the Subway a block away. Besides the made to order subs, Sub King offers pizza, appetizers, pasta entrees, grilled sandwiches, salads, dinner plates, and cold drinks. Subway does not offer a footlong turkey sub for $5, but Sub King does, which was the reason I decided to stop here for lunch recently. The service was quick and friendly. I had a 12" Turkey Sub ($5.35 with tax) which was well made and not messy and had smoked turkey breast, shredded lettuce, tomatoes, onions, American cheese, and lots of mayo on a very firm sub roll. I was already full after eating half the sub, so I had a turkey sub again for dinner.

Wings were badly burnt. Not crispy. No sauce. No veggies. But received ranch dressing. And grease for my burnt wings.

Normally, I am less of a fan of softer crust pizzas (maybe it got softer during delivery?), but that was not the case here! The crust beneath the pizza had just the right amount of "doughiness" and was very flavorful. There was also a generous amount of sauce on each pizza, under an equally good amount of cheese, to keep the pizza from tasting dry. I wanted to go back to the table where the pizza was and raid it a few more times. This pizza was provided for me, but for the moment it would likely be my own go-to spot if I'm in town getting pizza on my own.

This was recommended by local folks. It is part of a strip mall, so there is parking. When I walked in, it seemed like a ma and pa kind of shop, been here forever. I had two plain slices and a soda for just under $8. The pizza was a thick kind of pizza, with a good amount of cheese. The pizza dough was quite unique, it wasn't the pizza dough you would find in the city. The dough used was a little dense. Most importantly I liked it, thought it was good amount of cheese and tomato sauce.

It's been a good dozen years or so I think since I reviewed the End Zone (we have ordered takeout…read morefrom them numerous times since). My wife was tired today, good day to order dinner in. We decided on a pair of the Chicken-Cranberry-Walnut salads, a decent price at under $15, a better deal yet with a $5 ValuePack coupon. I called at 5:05PM on a weekday. Phone was answered in a few rings and I was asked to please hold. In well under a minute the phone was picked back up and a pleasant young lady asked my order, verified that it was delivery, and told me that delivery was no extra charge. Why pay more for one of the delivery outfits? Got off the phone at 5:07. We were eating those salads by twenty after 5. Heck, I could barely have set the table in that amount of time, much less prepared something to eat. Salads were somewhere in the huge to "almost too much to eat" range. There was PLENTY of chicken, still hot, tender, tasty, and not a bit of fat or gristle on it. The walnuts and cranberries were abundant, fresh, cranberries just the right texture. I personally would have preferred a bit more cheese, but that's just me - there was an adequate amount. Onions and tomatoes were fresh, tomatoes were tasty, and not that bland iffy taste that so many restaurant salad tomatoes at this time of year have. Lettuce was crisp, just right. The meal was a solid 5 as was the value for the money. The friendly, accurate, and super-fast delivery rates at least a 7 :) Good to see that Larry, besides being a genuinely nice guy, has managed to keep a consistent level of quality and service despite the all too common deficiencies in the food service labor pool since covid. Nice job Larry; nice car too :) Art

I have to say that I am very disappointed it had no flavor and tasted like cardboard. It was burned and there was hardly any sauce on it. We had more grease than anything else on the pizza. We ordered 2 8 cut pizzas and a calzone. Everything that we ordered came to $60 including tip. If had known that the meal was gonna be that bad I would've never tipped but going on reputation of the place and our experiences in the past I thought we were going to get a halfway decent meal. Sadly, my husband and I threw out the portions that we had taken out of the pizza box and you can see of the other pizza box. There was barely anything taken out of that one. We have been going there eating in and ordering takeout for the last 25 years or so so that's why I'm so shocked that the food was so bad this time.

I cannot say enough how glad I am to have such a casual deliciously healthy eatery thats local. I never have to second guess whether the food will be good or good for me. Whether it be their soups, salads, all day breakfast items, brunch lunch dinner or to go. Their pagnotelle egg sandwich in my opinion always hits the spot. Egg, ham, cheese with roasted veg on a house made pagnotelle roll what can be better? Also available vegetarian if you desire. Stop in or grab something to go, you're sure to agree!

I love when local eateries are well-loved because they deserve it. 9 Miles East Farm certainly does! A lot of the folks who came in for dinner wanted to sit on the terrace to bask in the last couple of hours of sun, but being from Florida I get overdosed with that and sat inside. I'm glad I did, the playlist reminded me of a Sunday picnic without being either. However, the atmosphere felt like that, even indoors. The owner was super personable, and the server was just the right amount of attentive. I ordered the chicken piri piri, and it presented beautifully. I felt comforted by the food. The tender grilled chicken parted from the bone with a twist of my fork and the mashed sweet potato was a great partner to the savory, citrusy, and slightly spicy piri piri. Im not even a chicken thigh person, but this dish changed me. I actually felt tended to and taken care of by the food! Does that even make sense??? It did when I was eating because that's how I felt. And the crazy thing is, I've been here once before. I loved what I ate, but it didn't feel like this. It's been a rough couple of months, but after this meal and listening to the carefree, but intentional music, it lit up my mood and my spirit. This will definitely be one of my go-to's when I visit Saratoga Springs, and I highly recommend 9 Miles East Farm to anyone. I think that a lot of people feel like they're visiting a friend's place when they come here. I definitely did.

This particular review is about the consistently friendly courteous service from the phone order takers and the delivery people. It is no secret that ever since covid customer service, especially in fast and informal food places, has gone down the tubes. Good help is hard to find, excellent help almost unavailable, yet in all my orders, I have yet to find anything to be even mildly annoyed about, much less about which to complain. The consistency month after month, year after year, speaks very highly of the owners and managers at Dom's. Their insistence that their staff treat customers right is in my mind not only the key to outstanding business results, but a testimony to the integrity of the owner/manager team.

But I do drive down Route 4 through Stillwater on occasion and when I'm in the mood for something quick to eat, I usually stop at Dom's. I think the main reason I stop there is that it has a nice parking lot in front and I don't have to worry about on street parking. So when I see Dom's right off the highway it's easy to pull into the lot. Inside, you order at the counter. It's really set up for takeout as there are only two small tables if you want to eat inside. They have a clean bathroom and a trashcan by the front door. The people at the counter have always been friendly and helpful. They serve pizza, subs, wings, and a few entrees. Cheese pizza is available by the slice, but they will throw ingredients on it and heat it up if you want it that way. Subs are decent. One time I got spaghetti to go and it was acceptable, not great. Prices are reasonable. All in all, it's a great place to stop by for a quick and easy snack or takeout meal. Not fancy, but it hits the spot.

I am looking for a location that sells a good variety of slices, has sit-down tables which you actually want to sit in (no rocking tables and dirty floors for me), and has friendly staff. We recently came here again while in the area and I rediscovered it. It is definitely the best... bar none. They expanded next door into a location previously used by H&R Block, and the increased dining space is wonderful. The variety of slices they had at lunch is staggering, and not just the usual suspects either. They had eggplant lasagna pizza; chicken Fra Diavolo pizza with hot peppers (yum!); mac & cheese pizza with or without Buffalo chicken; salad pizza; etc. All looked good, and my Fra Diavolo pizza has become my favorite here. Of note: their Hawaiian pizza is a white pizza (no sauce), which is extremely unusual, but they provided a cup of sauce on the side which restored balance to the galaxy. I should point out that every Italian restaurant has their own style of red sauce: some are too acidic, some are too salty, some are too heavy with dried herbs, and some don't use enough. This place has a sauce which is similar to my Grandmas (the best!), and it is salty and acidic and oily and delicious. I could see myself parking in a chair one afternoon with a good book and slowly trying slice after slice. Since we live only about 20 minutes away, I think I will need to make the trek up to here more often.

Yesterday for lunch I grab a…read moreslice of 2 Coming in hot with a 3.5-star rating, this spot almost hits that elite tier--but there are a few things holding it back from greatness. First off, presentation and crust game? Solid. You're getting a good bake, decent structure, and slices that hold their own. Not floppy, not overly stiff right in that respectable middle lane. That's a win. Now let's talk about the sauce... because this is where things get mixed. Taking a look at some of the chatter on Yelp, there's a noticeable trend and I've got to agree. The sauce is inconsistent. Some bites hit with a nice tang and balance, but others feel either a little too sweet or lacking depth. It doesn't always punch through the cheese like you want it to. For a place trying to compete in the pizza game, sauce consistency is everything--and right now, it's just not elite. Cheese and toppings are good--not mind-blowing, but definitely respectable. No complaints there. Quality is there, just not standout.
