10/10 all around! I have nothing but great things to say about this shop. Bought my 2010 STI basically sight unseen so I brought it here to have it checked out. It ended up needing quite a bit of attention. Charlene was so wonderful and friendly throughout the whole process. Keene did all the work on my car and let me tell you, he is meticulous! Keene went through my car with a fine tooth comb and then helped me prioritize my repairs. I normally have major major anxiety about leaving my car with people and having other people drive my cars. Keene went SO above and beyond explaining everything, showing me everything he found and answering all my questions so throughly that when it came time for me to leave it I wasn't stressed out or worried at all. I left 100% confident my car was in the best hands and that has never happened before finding this little gem of a shop. Even though this shop is over an hour from my house, I will not be taking my car to anybody else... EVER! Based off the quality of work Keene did on my car, it's clear he is an expert at what he does and takes a great amount of pride in his work. I could not be happier and I look forward to having him do more work on my baby in the future. (Hopefully upgrades and not repairs next time) haha A million thanks Keene! You the best!

These guys/gal are fantastic... quick appointments, great work, and honest. I've had installed- Jpipe, EGR, TGV, CF Driveshaft, and a Cusco Rear Diff. Car came back as clean as I left it and without issues what so ever. A+ to Jose, Dylan, and the rest of the team.

They had my car for the day, and couldn't reproduce the issue in the .5 miles they drove on my car, then he called me on the phone at 3 pm and tried to tell me I don't know how to shift the car I've owned for 10 years. I told them fine, I'll come get it. I get there 60 minutes later, an hour before they close, and the doors are locked. They left early. They knew I was coming. They could have called, but didn't. Said they had an emergency. That was a lie... they answered their phone after hours with no emergency in their voice. You could see them inside. Tge Open neon sign facing Iceanside blvd was still lit. They just wanted to mess with me. They had my number. They could have told me they "had an emergency". Instead... I spent $15 in an uber getting from work to their shop after they called me, and told me I could come pick it up. Then I had to spend $25 to uber home after finding that out. Then I had to uber back in the morning for another $25. This place should be razed. They are totally worthless. I can prove every bit of this review. It will not be taken down. I was referred to them by Accurate Alignment who is awesome. I am also letting them know they should re-think their recommendation.

GOING OUT OF BUISNESS?…read more I took my 2013 Ford Fusion to Ruffners Transmission on 03/08/2021 for a diagnoses after a lovely, reassuring conversation with claimed owner Adrian V Soto (Soto Enterprises DBA Ruffners Transmission Company) and although the transaction was far from seamless and I was mislead regarding the timeframe multiple times, we ended the transaction 03/22/2022 on a good note. I called several days later with concern of an issue, the vehicle drove a little rough and a bit shaky, I was told that it was an engine rebuild so it's not going to RUN perfectly smoothly. Adrian: "it should adjust to your driving" Diagnoses Fee: $135 Transmission Rebuild: $4,015.12 Programming Fee: $236.16 Total: $4,386.16 On 12/19/2022 we took the vehicle in again from a leak, we were told the Transmission Seal and Axle Shift need work. I let my husband handle the transaction however being that the repair was likely cased caused by the transmission and shouldn't the seal have been replaced during rebuild I did not agree to the charges! I don't know much about cars! We paid $564.20 So far, for a total $4,815.48 that Soto Enterprise DBA Runffner Transmission has charge to maintenance my vehicle to refuses to honor the warranty provided stating: "I am in $200K plus debt why should I care about your issue" "Im closing down anyway" "I was going to help you out but im not anymore" My frustration was warranted based on the situation that Ruffners put me in both financially and emotionally!

I found Adrian through offerup when looking for a new transmission for my truck, he let me know that they had units available and had the ability to build the trans depending on my power goals. I wanted a stock rebuild just to get the truck going again. I towed my truck to the shop and within about a week it was all squared away, it felt brand new and I had no complaints for about 1000 miles. Unfortunately the truck suddenly wouldn't go into reverse, a freak accident cause a piece to break inside the trans (this was not their fault) I hit up Adrian to let him know my issue and he immediately got me into the shop despite them being fully booked. I received my truck again today and it feels like a brand new truck again. I normally don't take any of my vehicles to shops because I work on my cars myself, I have been for almost 10+ years. But due to my current living situation I don't have any place to do big jobs like a trans swap. From one mechanic to the general public, I trust Adrian and his workers to get the job done! Highly recommend this place.

Steve also said he wants to make sure that before he gives my mom's Honda Accord LX Sedan Car back to me, he will have one of his mechanic's do a (Test Drive on her car) on (Thursday, December 24, 2020 ) in the morning for (30 minutes) to make sure there isn't anymore (oil leaking from underneath her car) nearby the Transmission Part. They did a diagnostic on it, ran the codes and came up with a p0771 pending code regarding the solenoid. They explained to me what it would cost to take it off and put it back and what the part would cost. But, he said, American transmissions are not really in they're wheelhouse right now, besides they have a ton of work to do. They suggested I take it to aamco since they just work on transmissions. As a 40-year Porsche mechanic, he estimated the job could be done relatively quick for about 500 to $700. When I took it to aamco, we told him what the code was but he really wasn't trying to hear that. He just kept restating that he was going to check the battery, the electrical system and other mechanical parts of the car to make sure everything was running fine. I said okay whatever, but just know that there's a code. He called me back the next day and told me they had run a diagnostic on it, pulled up a couple other codes and took it for a couple test drives to try to duplicate the problem - which eventually they were able to do. Then he told me it was going to be $1,485 to take the transmission apart so they can figure out what's wrong with it. I was like wtf? What about the code? He said well we're not positive that's it and there's a couple other codes that came up and you have dirty transmission fluid and something else is going on with it. I told him no thanks I'll just come back and get the car since it's $1,500 just to take it apart and a 40-year mechanic told me it was a $700 job. I got back the next morning and picked up my car. I dropped it off with almost a full tank. 350 mi left in the tank. When I picked it up, it had 267 miles left in the tank. Where in the heck have you been with my car! Bunch of unprofessional losers. There was also a coffee cup in my cup holder! Wtf? You just out running errands in my car and getting coffee? I have a dash cam rear view mirror. It has a power cord, a USB attachment, and also an audio cable. He unplugged all of them for some reason and just left the cords hanging. What does the mirror have to do with the transmission?! Wtf? On the phone, he told me I shouldn't be driving it that much if any at all because it's just going to make the transmission worse. But again, when I picked up the car, there was 80 mi missing from the gas tank! Absolutely unprofessional and the reason why people hate mechanics. Don't ever go here. It's seems to be massive money-hungry dirty scam by the owner.

It was smoking before I even got back to work. Oil dripping onto the headers. Returned it same day, they re-torqued and sent me home. Still smoking. Dropped it back off 5/14 at 3:10PM. Picked up 5/15. Two lights from the shop my transmission started slipping hard in second gear. Turned right back around. Owner Ricky confirmed the slip on a test drive. His first question was whether I'd done aftermarket work to the transmission, trying to make it my fault before we even got back to the shop. Plugged in a scanner, found an old unrelated stored code, erased it, drove it again. His conclusion: "I don't know what to tell you." I pointed out the transmission was perfect at drop-off. He got angry. Said no one drove it, they only idled it. Then offered to pull camera footage as proof. I said let's go watch it right now. He said he had other things to do. This happened in front of my fiancée and two of his own employees. No intake paperwork was made when I returned the car, no mileage logged for the exact period the transmission failed. What I can tell you is the mileage on my car does not support the story they're telling. A certified third-party inspection from the shop literally 150 feet away documented my transmission passing with zero issues the same morning I dropped off. The oil pan job on the 6.1L HEMI also requires physically moving the transmission for access. They did something and when confronted with the proof, they dodged cameras and kicked me out. BAR complaint filed. Small claims next. Update "Response to Ricky, thank you for responding publicly this actually helps me significantly. You identified yourself here as "Business Manager." When I asked you in person for the owner, you said you were in front of witnesses. That is now publicly documented. Regarding the OBD codes : the stored code found was a historical "lost communication with TCM" event. That is not a transmission mechanical failure code. It is entirely unrelated to active gear slipping. Any qualified technician or BAR investigator will confirm those are two completely different things. Regarding the SRT8 being driven aggressively: on the morning of my drop-off, another shop conducted a certified digital multi-point inspection of my vehicle. 31 of 33 systems passed. Transmission was in the green. The only red flags were the exact leaks I hired you to fix. That inspection is timestamped and on record. A performance vehicle with aggressive driving history does not pass a certified inspection hours before drop-off and then suddenly fail two blocks from your shop after picking up You stated the transmission was not touched. The 6.1L HEMI oil pan job requires the transmission to be lowered for access. It does not need to be fully removed to be disturbed. You also claim no evidence exists linking your repairs to the transmission failure. There is also no intake paperwork from my return visit, meaning no mileage baseline exists for the exact period the failure occurred. That absence of documentation benefits only one party, and it is not me. Your building advertises transmission services. You told me to my face you don't diagnose transmissions. Thank You Sir
