My mother's 1998 Honda Accord LX Sedan Car was in AAMCO's Transmissions & Total Car Care Shop for approximately (two and a half days) to complete this (Reseal Transmission Replacement Service). Steve who is the general manager for the AAMCO Transmissions & Total Car Care Shop was very personable and thorough in discussing the details with me regarding having this (Reseal Transmission Replacement Service) done on my mom's car. I also told Steve I will pay him on a CASH Basis for this (Reseal Transmission Replacement Service) if he will give me a GOOD DISCOUNT. Steve also said he wants to make sure that before he gives my mom's Honda Accord LX Sedan Car back to me, he will have one of his mechanic's do a (Test Drive on her car) on (Thursday, December 24, 2020 ) in the morning for (30 minutes) to make sure there isn't anymore (oil leaking from underneath her car) nearby the Transmission Part. I said that's a good idea. I waited until Steve this general manager called me at my home. Steve called me on Thursday, December 24, 2020 in the early afternoon and Steve said Frances your mom's car is ready to be picked up now from their AAMCO Transmissions and Total Car Care Center. I thanked him and said I will have to call for a Uber Driver to pick me up at my home and will call the Operator Service to schedule a ride for me now. Steve told me No Worries! Steve also said my mom's car will be parked in front of their AAMCO Transmissions & Total Car Center Shop waiting for me. I thanked Steve. So I schedule a Uber Driver to pick me up at my home from this operator. This operator told me Jose is my Uber Driver and he will pick me up within 7 minutes. So I waited outside for Jose to pick me up at my house. Then I was wearing a (Face Mask) and got into Jose's Silver SUV Car. Jose drove me to this AAMCO Transmissions & Total Car Care Center in a 25 minutes time frame. Then Jose dropped me off at AAMCO then I walked into the front lobby and Steve this general manager was waiting for me to pay my bill. But first, Steve discussed with me the (one year or 12,000 Miles Warranty) this is the covered protection for my mom's Honda Accord Car. Then I had to sign off on the 2 page Warranty Paperwork Information. Then Ben Valenzuela the owner of AAMCO Transmissions & Total Car Care Center told me that Steve their general manager enjoyed working with me because Ben the owner said I am a very (detailed oriented person) and Steve enjoyed working with me as their customer. I thanked Ben Valenzuela the owner for the compliment. Then Juan this really caring mechanic came into the front office and told me he is the one who completed this (Reseal Transmissions Replacement Service) on my mom's 1998 Honda Accord LX Sedan Car. Juan was very nice to me on the (first day), I had my appointment at 10 a.m. with Steve the general manager on Tuesday, December 22, 2020. Juan explained to me that all of the (Honda Cars) have that (defect in their Transmission Part) where the Case Halves have a seam that is running across the Transmission Part and that seam causes the (Motor Oil to leak a small amount of oil from the Transmission Part). After Steve this general manager discussed with me the Warranty procedure. I paid Steve the $1,165.00 in Cash on Thursday, December 24, 2020. Then Steve gave me a receipt. I received (Excellent Customer Service) from Steve this general manager, Ben the owner and also Juan their caring mechanic. Plus I also got a great Discount for being their Cash Customer. I highly recommend this AAMCO Transmissions & Total Car Care Shop. Ben the owner, he also gave me before I left AMMCO a 10 percent off Coupon for any Service or Repair up to $125.00. And also Ben the owner said he will give me a (FREE OIL CHANGE SERVICE) the next time I have my mom's car serviced at their Shop. I have a 2019 Lincoln Nautilus. It started shifting funny on the freeway. So I took it to some friends of mine, who happenen to be Porsche mechanics for over 40 years. They did a diagnostic on it, ran the codes and came up with a p0771 pending code regarding the solenoid. They explained to me what it would cost to take it off and put it back and what the part would cost. But, he said, American transmissions are not really in they're wheelhouse right now, besides they have a ton of work to do. They suggested I take it to aamco since they just work on transmissions. As a 40-year Porsche mechanic, he estimated the job could be done relatively quick for about 500 to $700. When I took it to aamco, we told him what the code was but he really wasn't trying to hear that. He just kept restating that he was going to check the battery, the electrical system and other mechanical parts of the car to make sure everything was running fine. I said okay whatever, but just know that there's a code. He called me back the next day and told me they had run a diagnostic on it, pulled up a couple other codes and took it for a couple test drives to try to duplicate the problem - which eventually they were able to do. Then he told me it was going to be $1,485 to take the transmission apart so they can figure out what's wrong with it. I was like wtf? What about the code? He said well we're not positive that's it and there's a couple other codes that came up and you have dirty transmission fluid and something else is going on with it. I told him no thanks I'll just come back and get the car since it's $1,500 just to take it apart and a 40-year mechanic told me it was a $700 job. I got back the next morning and picked up my car. I dropped it off with almost a full tank. 350 mi left in the tank. When I picked it up, it had 267 miles left in the tank. Where in the heck have you been with my car! Bunch of unprofessional losers. There was also a coffee cup in my cup holder! Wtf? You just out running errands in my car and getting coffee? I have a dash cam rear view mirror. It has a power cord, a USB attachment, and also an audio cable. He unplugged all of them for some reason and just left the cords hanging. What does the mirror have to do with the transmission?! Wtf? On the phone, he told me I shouldn't be driving it that much if any at all because it's just going to make the transmission worse. But again, when I picked up the car, there was 80 mi missing from the gas tank! Absolutely unprofessional and the reason why people hate mechanics. Don't ever go here. We sold a Volkswagen transmission to this AAMCO Transmission location. Everything was straightforward until after the sale, when Ben, who identified himself as the owner, contacted us demanding that we cover a programming fee. We explained multiple times that we are a parts supplier only, not the installer, and that programming is the responsibility of the shop performing the installation. This is standard practice in the industry and was clearly communicated. Rather than addressing the issue professionally or discussing it calmly, the conversation quickly turned hostile. Ben became verbally aggressive, raised his voice, used profanity, and attempted to intimidate us into paying a fee we are not responsible for. When we stood our ground, he went as far as threatening legal action and coming to our shop with his guys. This type of behavior is completely unacceptable in a professional business environment. Disagreements can happen, but threatening vendors, using abusive language, and attempting to shift responsibility is not how legitimate businesses operate. Based on this experience, we do not recommend that any parts suppliers or vendors do business with this location. I had transmission solenoid issue, I was told they had removed my transmission, shipped it to Riverside where their "builder" said I needed a new transmission, $5,000, but they were going to "help me out" charged me $3,800. It took them 7 weeks to get the work done!!! 7 weeks! On top of what they charged me, as I am a salesman, I needed a car, spent another $1,000 in rental car fees, of which the owner Ben said "I'll help you there" and never did. Aamco is a franchise, there are good owners and bad, this owner Ben is bad, real bad. Had to bring my car back within days of taking it home they diagnosed and said they needed more money to troubleshoot, they needed $1000 to separate the tranny from engine to take a look at it, I passed they already gouged me for a couple hundred dollars just took it to the dealer the dealer worked a deal gave me a new tranny for half off. ___________________________________ Good guys here I called about my BMW to get the transmission diagnosed the boss said to bring it in and they ended up finding the issue which had nothing to do with the transmission it was with the engine misfiring causing the error codes to show it was the transmission. Anyway they corrected the issue cleared all the codes and now I'm a happy camper. Two thumbs up for these guys I spoke with the mechanic and he showed me the defective part and explained what was happening but we couldn't find the cause of the issue which is fine now that the car is operating normal. Spoke with the owner on the way out he's an ARMY Vietnam Vet doing good things I was also in the ARMY glad to see ARMY people doing good. I've been pleased to have my expectations exceeded by this Aamco location. While generally trusting the chain, but knowing that each shop can certain be different, I was thankful upon my first visit when they ran a check engine light on a car I'd purchased just days earlier from a dealer - their advice, definitely take it back. 4 tries from the dealer later and I got a different car. Fast forward a year and I was looking for something nicer and NOT from a dealer, but ABSOLUTELY pre-inspected by this location. It being used, I wanted to know everything. They were thorough and let me know that a couple of parts were old\originals but weren't shot yet (struts, maybe a couple of the mounts. A couple drives up and down the 15 fixed that. Loving the ride of my car though, and appreciating their candor, call back times, and also appreciation of an "oldy but goody" - that and their quotes being in the range of online estimators of course - I chose to keep my service done there. They were nice, sure to remember me (and the fam), and let me know about a couple little things they found along the way to changing out my starter as it had also started acting up (and with a 2000+ mile trip in a couple weeks, I wanted to make sure I was good to go). I made sure they had plenty of time to fix the mounts and struts, and made sure they knew to keep an eye out for anything else given my trip. Hell, when I got back in it, couldn't feel it start, couldn't feel it idle, and couldn't feel the difference between being parked and going 85 except as the road changed (to which the new struts responded excellently). Of course my trip went off without a hitch, car is as smooth as ever, and even bested the EPA rating by over 20% thanks to the fresh oil, new injector seals, and a quality job that, as I said, exceeded expectations. I have a Transmission issue with my car. A regular mechanic diagnosed it and he said that the problem is with the Solenoid. Since he does not specialize in transmission, he advised me to go to a transmission shop. My Car is 17 yrs old and has 200k miles. I called a Transmission Auto Shop nearest me today 6/25 at around 2:45 pm and someone from AAMCO Transmission answered the phone. I explained my car's problem. When he was explaining the process, I wanted to make sure I heard him right so I asked what he just said because I couldn't quite understand him, he got pissed and just hang up on me. I went here based off the GOOGLE review. I will go back to why that was important in a bit. We took our Tahoe here last year to get the transmission fixed. It was done about 5 days and 3,800 dollars later. About two weeks later we drove it home just up north and had problems shifting into park every single time. I took it back in and they told me it was the shift linkage and that this is not their problem. The shift linkage in my vehicle sits underneath the transmission. When I asked if this part had to be removed to take the transmission out they said yes. There was no issue with it before. Also keep in mind this was the first time it was really driven. They said they would "bandage" it and then we could pay a couple hundred to get it fixed. I will never ever come here again. Almost 2 years later we still have several issues. When the transmission was done and I went to pick it up. They said please leave a good review on google and you can come back and get a free oil change HENCE the good Google reviews and all the bad real yelp reviews. read more

I brought my car into AAMCO for the free diagnostic in need of transmission fluid and to check a possible leak. They gave me an estimate of $3600 and said they tried to do a transmission fluid change but the transmission just jammed up and they need to take the transmission apart to see what the problem was. When I showed up with the tow truck the owner came out and said their original quote might have been too high and that it might only cost me $2700. Because of the high estimate and pushy sales tactics I took my car over to Oceanside Transmission where the mechanic said my car did not have a drop of transmission fluid in it and I was missing three bolts. On top of that the battery was dead thanks to AAMCO. Oceanside transmission put some fluid in the car and it ran perfectly fine. Go to AAMCO if you want to be RIPPED OFF. Never again will I bring my can into an AAMCO or recommend it for anyone, especially Oceanside AAMCO. read more

Save your money and go somewhere else! I usually do not write reviews good or bad. I don't like to spread negativity in anyway but I feel that I need to say something so others can avoid the nightmare I went through. It took them more than a month to fix a head gasket in my Honda. I had the engine replaced for $800 about 6 months before I took it in to see these guys. It was only supposed to take a week and half but they kept coming up with reasons why it wasn't ready. Then by the end of it all they wanted me to pay $3200 for the repair cost total. Eventually I was told by some mechanics to report them to the Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR). So I did and unfortunately the BAR representative couldn't find any fault in their pricing. He said unfortunately they can jack up the pricing of labor and parts without regulation. I was told to let the car go since it's blue book value was only $900. I tried to work out payment arrangements for the balance of the $3200 but they said they won't release the vehicle to me until it's paid off. Even though they had me without transportation for over a month on a simple fix. I guess it wasn't so simple since they needed to call in an "expert" to help them get the engine back together. Why would you take a job that you didn't know how to do? Finally I offered to sign over the the title to them but they want me to take out some loans to pay them back. I didn't want to do that. Then after the BAR investigated them I get a letter in the mail stating that they are charged me another fee to find the Title Owner which they had all that information anyway when I filled out the repair paperwork. Also, they were charging me storage fees that had already accumulated over $1000 for the last week. So by the end of working with AAMCO of Oceanside I'll be on the hook for over $5000 and no car anymore. I can't begin to tell you the impact this had on my life. If I could give this place a negative stars I would. I called Aamco because my check engine light came on and I needed to get an inspection on my car. I called and spoke to a guy he was friendly at first and then when I asked him to clarify what the charges would be for the inspection and then a diagnosis he kept cutting me off and didn't want to directly answer my question and when I asked him to clarify he laughed at me. I asked him if it was funny.. Clearly it wasn't funny to me. I only asked to clarify so I could get all the information for my boyfriend who was going to be taking my car in for me. He then proceeded to argue with me on the phone when I called him out for laughing. I hung up. I called again moments later to speak to a manager.. Turns out HES THE OWNER!!!! I was appalled... He said he was sorry in the most not sorry way when I asked his name and who he was all of a sudden his attitude changed and he was nice... I took my car in for engine light. They checked it for free! I really didn't expect that and it was very much appreciated! The guys plugged in their device and found a general ballpark of what the problem was in minutes. Unfortunately the problem isn't cheap to fix but that was expected too as my Toyota 2012 Prius has over 407,000 miles. It has gone through 2 engines and 2 hybrid batteries. On Friday night, my fiancé's car took a dump On the way home with what we thought was his clutch. We were SO STRESSED- the money, the fact it was a weekend and most shops are closed, and especially Covid throwing a wrench in EVERYTHING! But first thing Saturday morning we called AAMCO and spoke with the owner, Ben. The calls from the shop were being forwarded to his personal phone, and he was all over it trying to get us helped. We had AAA tow it to the shop, and he went straight there from his house to meet the driver. He took it apart to diagnose is first thing Monday morning. We felt relieved that his prices were 500-$1000 cheaper than what the dealerships were gonna charge to replace the clutch, and he gave us a timeline of about 48 hours to do the work, where as the dealership said anywhere from 5-7 days.. possibly more. When they took it apart LUCKILY it was just an axle and not the clutch. He took care of it and had it ready by the next day. He worked with us and had offered some discounts. We will definitely be bringing our vehicles back to them if we have any other major issues. Ben was very personal and made us feel like a HUGE weight was lifted off our shoulders when we first talked to him on the phone. They did a great job on my work van. Took an extra day but I'd rather it be done right then quickly since my vans are my source of income. Was the same price that they quoted me from the beginning. I do need a dampener for the drive shaft in the future. It really is bad, I saw it with my own eyes so they weren't trying to upsell extra stuff. They did valve cover gaskets, front and rear seal on the transmission, both u-joints on the drive shaft, serviced the transmission and replaced both gaskets on the differential and service as well. When I brought it back they tried to get around the warrantee saying it was a separate issue which it clearly was not. I wouldn't budge on my position because clearly it was having the same shifting issue so they finally agreed to look at it after several discussions but they have had the van now for over 2 months now and they have not fixed it. I finally gave them a deadline to fix it which they did not meet and they won't refund my money so I am now having to go to court to get my money back and I still have a broken van. AAMCO Oceanside is a joke. Save yourself the disaster and from being way overcharged and go somewhere else. I had my car towed here after my car broke down and after a lot of runaround on the phone and taking my transmission apart they ended up charging me over $4000. On top of that they had my car for a week and a half. Nobody ever called me back when I would talk to them on the phone and they said they would follow up with me in a couple hours I had to keep calling and bugging them. Then a couple days after picking up my car I have new issues that were not there before taking it to Amco. I took my car to a complete auto repair shop and they did an inspection and told me to immediately take it back to where I had my transmission done because there were many loose bolts hoses that were not put back together the pinion which connects the steering wheel and the tires was loose and shaky and I now have a fumes smell coming out of my vents. They told me I am lucky that I have driven my car because it is very dangerous to drive it like that.After taking it back to Amco and dropping it off at 8:30 in the morning once again Bob never called and I had to call him at 3:30 in the afternoon for him to tell me they tighten one bolt connected the hose and I had nothing to do with the work they did. I will be contacting the California bureau of automotive repair and filing a complaint because I seriously feel like these people screwed us and have no consideration whatsoever.
