So having tried a lot more of the menu here I am taking off a star. I would not recommend this place for breakfast because they over cook eggs even if you ask for them runny. My first time and last time. I decided to go there and eat breakfast. I figure no way a diner can mess up breakfast. Well they did! I had the most disgusting breakfast ever and I mean ever, the eggs the hash browns, how something so simple taste like crap! On top overpriced. So, I guess another thing about dinners is location; it really determines what type of folks drag in at three in the morning. Suburban Diner is sort of set back from the roads with a lot of commercial traffic, so you don't get any burly trucker types. I'd say most of the folks are probably young bar-going types fresh out of Kenny's, or one of the other bars on Street Road. By the way, isn't that an INSANE name for a road? Where's Road Street? Where's, err, Freeway Interstate? Yea. Suburban has a fairly normal menu, though. On the whole, it doesn't have those lovable quirks I've found in other diners. read more

Wow! Very happy with this place!! The food is great. The portions are sizable, and the prices are fair. I grew up with diners, then moved to California, where we really don't diners like they do on the east coast. So this place was just the thing. Only downside is that they don't serve breakfast all day like many diners, but the food is so good that I can't offer anything but five stars!! I will definitely be back next trip. I spent most of my college-hood at Suburban. My girlfriends and I would pile into the back with every single textbook we owned. We would then proceed to discuss everyones outfits, boyfriends, weekend plans, etc. We basically did everything but our school work, however we were able to steal internet from the near by church which made distraction even easier. Now onto the food... The french onion soup is yummy and omlettes are consistently good. My favorite menu items have got to be the wraps. The steak and chicken wrap with peppers, onions, cheese, mushrooms and bbq sauce is outrageous. The New Yorker is pretty good as well (chicken tenders, swiss & mozzerlla, lettuce, tomatoe & bacon). I also REALLY enjoy the Spring mix salads. The Alaskan comes with a nice chunk of salmon which I wouldnt normally trust from a diner but was delish(and actually agreed with my tummy). The Italian is also super yummy (mozzerlla balls, roasted peppers & grilled veggies w/ balsamic) I happen to be a big Suburban fan even though I probably have a bias opinion...Im sure after talking for hours and getting some school work done, everything tastes delicious.... =) read more

It pains me to write this as I have been a fan of suburban diner for years. Way before the remodel. Today something was OFF. Terribly. Our breakfast food not only took forever to come out & was cold, but within an hour of eating here I became violently ILL. Without getting into the gruesome details, the food is now out of my system & I am able to sit & write this review. I was fine before , fine until about an hour after I ate. No doubt that it was from my meal of eggs Benedict, hash browns, had a slice of hubby's bacon & cup of coffee, oj. I don't know if the hollandaise sauce sat out or what but *full disclosure - I do have a shellfish allergy. Cross contamination maybe-?? I took 2 Benadryl & am feeling back to normal. ***SUBURBAN if you're reading this - please be CAUTIOUS of food safety & cross contamination in your kitchen!!!Thankfully I made it home & my husband was here to help me or I could've wound up in the hospital. Four stars because their food is usually very good. Today my husband ordered the open face roast beef sandwich, the beef was tender and very good, however the gravy threw the flavour off. It tasted like it was from a can. For a place that seems to pride itself on homemade it was a disappointment. Also, our waitress had to be reminded about several things. I believe she was new and hope she will improve over time. Overall I would recommend the restaurant because as I stated in the beginning the food is usually very good. read more

What a dump. Silverware all scratched up and worn away. All the plates chipped, worried your going to bite into a piece of porcelain. Expensive food and my food tasted horrible and dry. Got my order wrong and charged me extra things that I asked for but NEVER GOT. Check your check when they give it to you!! Under staffed waited 20-30 mins for my food AT A DINER. Shame on anyone with food issues to dare eat at this place. A pathetic excuse for a diner. Overpriced, poor quality, dirty conditions. Our not at all friendly waitress did not make anyone feel confident about their dietary needs : (vegetarian, nut allergy and a celiac) and since I am feeling symptoms now, guessing there is allot of cross contamination in the kitchen. This brought me back to my high school years over 10 years ago. This was my favorite place on weekends at 3am. I came here this morning for brunch. The place is renovated and its really nice inside. I ordered a mushroom omelet and a coffee and it was good. French fries were kind of dry and so were the home fries. Our server was very friendly. read more

The service is the worst thing I have ever seen. I came in and yes, I was greeted with water within a normal amount of time but then did not see my waitress again for 25 minutes before I decided to walk out. The manager sees my friend get up to walk out and doesn't even react... as if this happens all the time. I am so disappointed and will never return. Great experience and great food. Stopped in for some quick pancakes. Got what I wanted - in and out in 15 min. Prices are a little high (5.29 for 3 pancakes) but I'm okay with it. Friendly staff treated me like a regular even though it was my first time. Will definitely visit again. read more

My husband and I recently stopped in for a quick dinner one night. I try to order Greek salads when I eat in diners since so many feature Greek food. I not only had Greek salad but spinach pie as well. The Suburban Diner has a nice selection of authentic Greek meals. The Greek salad was one of the best I ever had. It was chopped up perfectly and looked like brightly colored confetti with red tomatoes and green peppers. It was nicely balanced with feta cheese, onions, olives, and egg. The spinach pie was very good but the presentation was very plain. A big plate with just the square cut of spinach pie. The service was a little aloof but not slow. Everything was served properly. I'll be back and next time I am trying the moussaka. read more

I am astonished and shocked at how bad the service was when walking into this place. We had to straight up leave because first of all the energy was completely wasted by freezing the place with it's overuse of air conditioning, and second they NEVER ever approached us. We had ZERO service and just sat there freezing waiting for someone to come by and take our order. Every job I've ever have since I was 15 (that's 19 years now), I would have been fired if I would have neglected the customers that way. worst service ever! And it's a shame because although I've had their crap diner food before (which is fine by me at a place open at 2am), I wouldn't haven expected CRAP service! We have had breakfast here several times and the food is good and very consistent. Menu has a large selection and portions are generous. Enjoyed Knauss brand chip beef! My husband and I stopped for dinner around 8:00 on a Saturday night. My coffee was good, but that's all. I ordered the meatloaf and mashed potatoes. I think the meatloaf had been warming in the oven for a few hours because about an inch through all around the edges was burnt. I didn't see it when the plate came out because the whole thing was covered in salty gravy. My potatoes were ok - needed seasoning, but ok. My husband ordered the western omelette with home fries, requesting well done home fries with onions. The omelette was dry and overcooked and the potatoes were in a mound about an inch high with the outsides cooked and the inside a mushy mound with fried onions placed on top. Should have known it was not going to be a good experience when we sat down and the napkin under my flatware was stuck to the table. We will not be back. read more

We usually go for dinner only. This week we tried Suburban for lunch. We were surprised at no lunch specials as other diners offer. Same menu, same high prices. The food IS good and on the weekends when we go the service is outstanding. They can't do enough for you. I suspect since the place was nearly empty they do most of their business during the late afternoon hrs. etc. and therefore don't have the "A" team on during the dull afternoon. We ended up getting a dinner since the sandwiches are way overpriced. Also we asked if we could change from fries (not all of us can eat fried foods). Yes we could for $1.79 extra!! This was for a measly sandwich. So pay almost 2 bucks to get applesauce? Not happening. The big problem was two classless customers in the next booth behind us. There was 4 elderly people across from them. These two bozos turned on their speaker phones and proceeded to deafen the rest of us. Since we were practically the only customers it was awful. Why do hosts insist on seating everyone next to each other when the place is empty. We complained to the waitress who understood. I know she told the host who looked like he was afraid of his own shadow. He did nothing. He could have asked them politely if they would relocate and therefore do their business in a secluded corner for their own privacy as well. Finally the 4 seniors told them to "knock it off", lol. Then it was ok, well better than before. I complained upon paying my bill and the host said he would take care of it. Take care of what? We SHOULD have been offered a free dessert for our misery. Spoiled the meal. As I said the food is good if overpriced. After all it's a diner in an ugly location. I don't get the high prices. It's Feasterville not Doylestown. But the service on Sat when we go is outstanding. A young server by the name of Chris is incredible. And I have seen others help disabled people get around. I had meatloaf for dinner. I would not serve it to my family pet. My toddler would not even eat the green beans becuase they looked spoiled and she loves green beans otherwise. The server was horrible it took forever to serve us. Made sense when I left I saw her smoking out back. If it was not for the desserts and coffee I would never return. So if you want good dessert visit but I would not order anything else to eat. If I could leave no stars I would! read more

Went during December 2014. Place was dirty looking. I got a cheap, cold burger that tasted like cardboard with wet fries. I asked for a buffalo chicken wrap to go and got a soggy chicken sandwich with rancid cheese and honey mustard. poor service, had to call the server over every time we needed somthing.
