Could not complain more about this company. They are horrible. Made duplicate keys for my car. Told them make amd model amd year. Car unlocks amd starts, keys stuck in it now. They want to blame the ignition even though there were 0 problems untill I used their duplicate key. On call Danny transfered me to auto and auto hung up on me. Danny refuses to answer his phone. My car will be stolen by monday. Buffalo Lock amd Key confirmed you did your job wrong amd fixed my ignition amd made correct duplicates. In the snow last week I lost my 90 year old Dad's key to his house. I am his primary health care giver. I spent two hours during a blizzard raking and shoveling and sweeping snow, no luck, could not find the keys. Not only making necessary visits difficult but knowing that his security was compromised was a real problem. Home Depot on Elmwood has a key service that may be nothing short of pure disaster: long wait times for key copies that work about 30% of the time. The clerk at HD did do me one significant service when I showed him a mailbox key that they could not match: sending me to Suburban Lock and Key just down the road a bit. Suburban has many more key templates than the hardware chains and was able to match the small, unusual key. They're knowledgeable pros with excellent inventory and useful accessories. I've made the mistake of going back to the Home Depot for keys since then and gotten the same results. I hear that is the definition of insanity? In any case, especially now that I live a short drive away, Suburban Lock and Key will have me heading to Kenmore for my future needs. read more

Their staff is knowledgeable. Their inventory is large. Their technicians are capable. Their prices are a bit high, but I am always willing to pay more for excellent service. It is the Service that brought down what would otherwise have been a solid four star rating down to a troubling 2 star review. They simply have no concept of, or concern about time. They must assume that people don't work and can just wait at the house for hours and hours. They gave a specific two hour window when the appointment was made a month ago, they assured me on the morning of the appointment that "Mike" was finishing up a job and would arrive at my location at the front end of that two hour window. After the two hour window was gone with no appearance, I called and they told me that "Nate" would be there within the "next couple of hours." No apologies for the lateness, no recognition that I might have other obligations and might have relied on their timeframe. Nate did eventually arrive and did a very good job. He was professional and efficient and polite. If I didn't have clients on my calendar and deadlines to deal with at the office, and could simply wait and wait and wait for them, then I would have no complaint at all. But I do, and I can't. If they had some sort of emergency, or their trucks had broken down, or they unexpectedly had a shortage of technicians, then I would not have allowed the delay to effect my review. But based on my conversations with them throughout the day, five conversations in all, and their nonchalant attitude that they get here when they get here, despite their promised "window", this appears to be business as usual for Suburban Lock and Key. When they finally get around to servicing you, they do a fine job. read more

Short version: Outstanding locksmith & impeccable customer service! Long version: I was asked by my elderly grandmother to replace a broken lock set on a very old door in Kenmore. Being a nice grandson, I went down to the big box store, bought a replacement and installed it the best I could. Because it was a very old door, the fittings were not an exact match, but I jammed it in and got it to work at 95%. Unfortunately, when my grandmother tried to use it, the deadbolt had a slight "hitch" or "catch" to it. It wasn't buttery smooth - and when you have arthritis and a shredded shoulder, well, even the slightest resistance made it unusable. I know my limits, and I knew I had to either replace the door, or try to call a locksmith. Enter Suburban Lock & Key in Kenmore. They were beyond friendly on the phone, and were very accommodating when trying to schedule a time. They understood I would be driving in from Clarence to meet them in Kenmore and gave me more than advance notice to do so on the scheduled day. Dan arrived, took apart my handyman work, noticed the the door was indeed "off" a bit, and went to work on fixing the problem. He knew right away that if he re-tooled the opening, the lock I bought at HD would work as intended. He didn't try to sell me another lock, he just fixed the problem I had. And to top it off, Dan had to problem solve and work around a giant wooden frame my grandfather had placed around the door window decades before. The tool jig wouldn't fit, but Dan found a way. When he was done (and everything was cleaned up like he was never even there) the deadbolt was smooth as butter. My grandmother can now lock the door by simply blowing gently on the lock - OK, not THAT smooth, but pretty darn close. Dan rocks! read more

When I walked in they were giving a customer a hard time about how to lock a refrigerator closed. While brushing her off, an angry old lady came in and said her keys they cut for her didn't fit. Then it was my turn, I bought some motorcycle key blanks online and they wouldn't cut them because they were steel and the key blanks would damage their tools. Sure they make their money selling the blanks and not as much cutting them, but even if they charged me $4/key it would've saved me the gas of driving around. Plus a lot of places don't carry the key blanks for sport bikes. Went to Buffalo Lock & Key on Oliver Street in North Tonawanda, and they cut them for $2/key. If you're going to get a copy of a transponder (chip) key it's $10 less at Buffalo Key & Lock. ($75 if you don't have a 2nd key, $35 if you do) and $3/key for any additional) Also, Buffalo Key & Lock have sport bike keys in stock. They won't look as cool as the big plastic ends on the stock keys, but you won't have to wait 3 weeks to get them online either. Suburban Lock & Key Service"s only advantage is their location. read more

bought a 65 dollar lockset and put it in myself thereby locking myself out of the garage. after pulling the pins from the hinges to get to my car, I took the door with the lockset back to Suburban. The salesman came out to the car, replaced the latch & spun another piece 180 degrees and when I asked how much he laughed and said "on the house". Service doesn't get much better then that. read more
