Stay away from this company!!! Absolutely the worst customer service I have ever dealt with. I have spent countless hours over the course of 3 months trying to get them to remove my service and tank. I've encountered nothing but problems dealing with them since the day I became customer. Now that I'm trying to stop being customer, the issues have only gotten worse. The people who are running this office never answer their phones, never follow-up or respond, constantly re-schedule services, send me invoices for work not performed, all of this with absolutely no communication whatsoever. Time to fire them all and close up the shop. Helpful hint: If you need to contact Suburban, call the main number and ask your request to be escalated to their regional management. That's the only way you will likely get any kind of follow-up. read more

Never had any issues with the company until we wanted to stop service. Now mind you, we haven't used the gas in 3 years and have not had filled since then. So when we got the yearly bill for the tank rental we decided to just call and have them pick up (you pay in advance not behind). However, they informed me that in order for them to come pick up THEIR tank, I would have to pay $130 dollar service fee. Are you kidding me? They want me to pay them to pick up their property. Absolutely horrible, dishonest and crooked company. I was told by their corporate office that I could set up an on-demand delivery. However, the local office specifically Edward inform me that I could not do that and that local offices do not have to follow corporate instructions. I'm pretty sure they do this so that they can charge you $70 a year just to come out and look at your tank for less than two minutes. Also, this is probably one of the rudest companies I've ever dealt with. I will be switching out of them shortly and honestly don't care if I have to pay more at another company. Called them about continuing to service their tank at a property I bought recently. First lady I talked to was very informative and helpful. Said I'd call back in a few days. When I called back I got another lady. She kept telling me they would charge me for a full tank even though the tank was not empty. (Was told by the previous owner the tank should be about half full.) After some back and forth she said they would refund me the difference. Apparently the idea of just servicing the tank and filling it does not rip me off enough. The conversation ended when she said she needed to consult with her supervisor and would call me back. Had I bet on the chances of her calling me back being never, I would have been right. A couple weeks later...... I get a letter saying I failed a credit check. WTH?!?!? I never gave them info to check my credit rating or permission to do so. What BS! My credit rating is so good I get the best rates across the board. The one thing this company is excellent in achieving is treating and angering people consistently well. What I wish is NC would shut down these businesses. read more

This company is not good at customer service at all. We had a bill with them that was paid six months ago, as we were deciding whether we wanted to change our fireplace from gas to wood. We paid the bill, but find out they locked our tank and never unlocked it. I ask them to come unlock it and am willing to pay a fee because it's cold af, they agree. Then they call me back and say the service manager decided they don't want to come out. And can't give me a day or time to come out. I'm so confused. We're going to start shopping. read more

An Extremely ill ran company that doesn't care about their customers, they lie to you & drive their prices through the roof. Being a loyal customer (over 15 yrs)...and paying my bill in full upon receipt, it was an annual chore for me calling suburban propane to lower my unit price in order to fill my 500 gallon propane tank every fall. 3 months ago, my annual chore began when they were charging me $6.98 per gallon when offering new customers $1.99/gallon. I was told by a rude representative that that was the market price and she could not do anything about it. I then asked to talk to the manager-which she then claimed she was the manager. 2 lies-she was not a manager, let alone THE manager and the market price was $2.89/gallon ($4 less than what they were charging). After dealing with this rude lady I ended up calling around and found 3 propane companies that were amazing! I choose to go with one of those 3. I called back suburban propane and again had to deal with this rude individual. I explained to her I was switching companies and putting in another tank, needing theirs removed. She then got mad and told me I was not to touch or move their tank and they would be out to collect it. She gave me a date 5 weeks ahead when she knew I never had any propane in my tank to heat my house. Again...she did nothing to help me out. Fast forward 2 months...to now...their tank is still sitting there empty and they have not collected it. Apparently they enjoy playing games with their long term customers and being extremely spiteful when you choose to go a different direction. I'm a single mom of two children and evidently suburban propane thinks it's acceptable to leave such a family with no means to heat their house at Christmas. They have also sent me a bill for the tanks rental...again...trying to get every penny they can from you. I am highly disgusted with this company and the way I am still being treated. If I could review this company as a zero star I would! DO NOT use this company if you are looking for a propane supplier. You have options, please take my advise and go else where. We were customers of McCracken Propane before this worthless company took over. Nothing but issues since. I called regarding our account and was told someone else needed to respond to my concerns. I just hung up from speaking to Suburban Propane. Here's the short of it. Natural gas was recently added to my neighborhood and in support of my neighbors, and due to natural gas being more consistent and cost effective, I agreed to have it brought to my house. I called Suburban to notify them of this and ask for a refund of the $1,300.00 I have on account. My neighbors, who use different suppliers, were all refunded their remaining balances and able to sell the propane in their tanks back to their supplier. Not the case with Suburban Propane. They have informed me I will not receive a refund and they will not purchase back the propane in my tank. I'm sharing this here, as I will on every site I can, to warn others who need propane NOT to use Suburban. Please share this with friends, neighbors, co-workers, etc. If you know someone who needs to use propane, encourage them to do their research. If you know individuals who are having a home built, insist that the builder not use Suburban Propane. I'm confident Suburban works a sweet deal with the builders who after the fact could care less what the new homeowner has to deal with. As Stacy H. is doing, I'll be reaching out to the Attorney General asking that they assist not only me and my family but all the others Suburban is taking advantage of. read more

So when did it become okay for a company to hold you hostage to a "contract" you never signed? Also, when do you ever finish paying these people for their tank? They won't let you buy it and threaten you with all kinds of nonsense when you ask for an amount to get out of this "contract". We have requested proof of our signing that we are under contract with them and they have yet to provide it. RUN from this company, run as fast as you can. They've been sued successfully in New Jersey and we are in contact with that attorney to see if he is interested in speaking with customers from our area who are experiencing the exact same issues that were prevalent in New Jersey. This was funny....they said if we sell our house and the new owners dont use them for gas they will dig up the tank and charge US (who no longer own the home) for the cost....absolutely ridiculous and nonsensical to put it mildly. I'm not surprised that every other person has rated them 1 star or 0. Worst company ever. Not only do they price gouge insanely, but they never come when they are supposed to. I waited 3 days when we first signed up and they kept saying they were coming and noone showed. When they finally do it's nothing but problems. I pay $1800, then they automatically sign u up for auto refill so you have to tell them to stop- even when u tell them no they keep u on it to get that money. They won't even knock on the door they just come fill u up and leave a bill on your door knob. If your even a little behind on the bill they will come with no warning and lock your tank on the coldest day of the year. There's no communication between the office people either. The amount of money spent on these A-holes is sickening. We have been inspired to build a wood stove in our home so we never have to deal with them again. That's how bad they are. read more

Horrible customer service. The employees are clueless, any time I had a question on my account or needed something answered they had to check another department. Which usually involved me calling them back because they don't know how to follow up. I cancelled service due to our fireplace having an issue on the logs, they sent us a refund for the gas. Which was not 100% of the price we paid, understood - because it does cause a technician to come back out. But then, 9 months later, their collections team starts calling because I owe them money. Again, the women has no clue as to when this bill was sent out. I no longer even live at the property. They are garbage!!! Rip out your gas logs, and build a standard fireplace. Propane companies are as bad as cable companies, they're roaches to society and absolute idiots. read more

Don't Buy from Them, McCracken was bought out by them and they are overpriced. The US Energy Information Administration www.eia.gov reported average price for Residential Propane for our area at $3.40. Suburban Propane delivered on Dec. 6 and charged $5.25 per gallon. read more

Need zero stars. Pathetic company to deal with. It all started when my husband realized we were low on gas 1-5-18. We are not on auto refill (for good reason). I ran out of gas on 1-6-18 during record breaking series of frigid temperatures. 11:22AM called "Karen Hall". Made emergency fill request. Thought may get there today. Sit tight in electric blanket. Very nice. Mentioned she remembered speaking to my husband yesterday for delivery next week. Said the snow backed up every thing and drivers out til 2 am everyone working on weekends. Asked me to call back later before 5 if gas not arrive. Saturday January 6 4PM I called to ask schedule expectations. Got dispatcher man on phone. Said three days behind and gas not coming til next week. Could not give date. Displacement during freezing temperatures: Saturday I went to neighbors to sleep and shower. Sunday spent night at home. Downstairs 46 degrees. Monday hotel until Thursday. Wednesday got up to 50 degrees outside so house better by Thursday. Entire time I am "On call" because nobody can tell me the schedule but delivery til 2am. I needed to have tech light stove, fireplace, and heating system. Left note at home in case they came without calling me. Unsure every day what is happening until told Tuesday January 9 I called again 11:58AM "Shenika" (sp?) said I would get delivery on Thursday. (still not sure of time so needed to be ready for call and check out hotel). Tried to make best of it-see my review of Hilton Garden Inn in Cary on Columbus Rd. Thursday, January 11th. Today is the day! I get my life back. I call at 11:22AM "Sharon" at local office confirm on route and they have my phone number and will call me, light pilot. I explained I log into night class at 6pm ...she said they will come by 5 probably can't tell me exact time. They never come. House is back down to 50 degrees. 10:43 PM I called and got to corporate office in NY. "Tenisia" (sp?) Could not see information between accounts of local & big office. I had to go through the entire story again. She ordered emergency fill for tonight. Promised driver would call and light pilot. 11:29 PM I think its the driver--hooray! It is Tenisia. apologizing that she entered in wrong key and I can't get delivery 7days. I will have to call local office in AM. I posted a true story on Face Book and was erased & blocked like many people apparently are. W e all started screen shooting comments that were later deleted. Scrubbers working in real time while I am sitting in a cold house alone with no hot water waiting on broken promises. Friday Jan 12: I called local office as soon as it opened. "Julia" 8:30am. 8 minute call. Said corporate should have fixed computer glitch last night She told dispatcher what occurred and why delivery not made & took my phone number down to call me after she calls Durham to find out what happened last night. 9:51 Never called back. I called and asked for Julia. Julia said she talked to "someone but could not recall their name who promised to call me immediately. I explained nobody ever called and thus it was another task I had to do. I'm promised a emergency delivery ...I asked what to do if I am not called again or nobody shows up since I have heard all of this before. She was nice and said I could call her at 4pm again. 10:35AM Dispatcher Chris called to say delivery after 1 'as requested'. Nope. We never asked for that. He said it was in the instructions and he had left a VM for me an hour ago. Nope. Apparently he called my husband who was on a plane over the Atlantic even though everybody I talked to agreed they knew my name and cell was this weeks' contact since my husband out of town. Sheez. Chris promised to call after he speaks to driver. 10:41 he called and apologized for all mix up. Said he was doing what he was told with information he knew. Driver will be here in 20 minutes! 11AM delivered and driver helped me light stove and fireplace. He was super nice as were all the people in offices on phone. The communication system is awful. AND, I believe I was being jerked around Thursday evening for some reason--is it because we are not on auto refill and we own our tank? (owning tank was fight with previous gas company since we refused to participate in that scam). 2pm a suburban truck arrived to deliver. He had no clue our gas already came. The irony. Guess he was following some bizarre set of instructions like "arrive after 1pm". Who knows. It was so frustrating and I will not recommend this company to anyone. We now have tank monitor to keep better track of when gas should be ordered. read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY IF YOU DO NOT HAVE TO. Sadly there is no one else in my area. They do not come when they say they will. I have been without hot water for 4 days, every day they are "on the way" and don't show up. I requested and paid for propane 2 MONTHS ago! I have already paid nearly $600 because they made me pay over the phone before coming. They have come out one time, I requested that they call when they are on the way since I need to come home from work. No call, but a note on my door saying they didn't fill up because I wasn't home. Noticed fuel was a bit low. Called on Monday and was told I'd get a delivery that day, no delivery. Called on Tuesday and was told the same thing, no delivery. My wife called this morning, was told they were on the way. That was 4 hours ago. She called Supervisor, no answer. Fuel now down to 5%. Cold here and we have 3 kids in our house. I sold a property and new buyer was not taking over the lease on existing tank. The tank was 60-70% full when I left at beginning of summer. I was told that they would charge me 135.00 to pick up their own tank, however they would deduct that from gas that was in the tank at pickup. They instead charged me 75.00 to lock up the tank, then when I called after receiving the bill they told me they had to charge me that because a work order was initiated by their rep. Incredible! Why would you do that on a tank that was not being leased by new property owner? No answer, but Torabia(rep) did say she didn't understand why that was done. They now have put in a work order to pick up the tank at a charge of 135.00 plus a 2.00 per gallon pump out fee for pumping out the 60-70% of gas left in tank. So their plan is that I will owe them money for picking up their tank and pumping out gas they will resale for free. This company is Trumptastic. Anyone who does business with them is going to get screwed, then they will blame you for their issue. They don't deserve 1 star as others have posted. read more
