My husband called to make an appointment in November and had a site visit mid-late December and he called mid December to follow up and he was told was ever scheduled. He got another appointment and they said Mid January and my husband had to interject and ask if they wanted our address or phone number, things they should have asked and now they just emailed my husband stating they needed to cancel our appointment and they are booked out until February now. It would have been nice to be told they just aren't interested in our business. We have a generator that requires propane and lose power often due to where we live. We now are in January and learn they aren't coming once again and I love how they're website says "our business is customer satisfaction" What a joke. Looks like we will be finding our own propane tank and setting it up and find another company to buy a tank and go through Ferrel Gas to get it filled and this also will cost us a ton of money, much more than if suburban was decent and cared about customers and wanted new ones. I am a general contractor and I have gone to this location to fill my tanks twice a year for at least the last 15 years. I usually bring in five or six 20lb tanks at a time. I thought since I was going directly to the supplier that I was getting a good price for the propane. About a month ago I did my semi annual stop in to get six tanks refilled. I'm not sure how the subject of pricing came up, but the tech said you know you can get this propane cheaper at the corner gas station. I was floored and just looked at him for a moment, what the H*ll, I said. He gave me some kind of line that they didn't want to undersell their customers. Needless to say i will NOT be filling my propane tanks there anymore, The U-haul in Beaverton has the same propane, because Suburban Propane sells it to them, for almost a dollar a gallon cheaper. read more

WORST propane company ever! Our 500 gallon tank was put back behind our house before the house was built and unfortunately there is no way on earth to get it out of here and Suburban was stubborn with us for the last 26 years about selling it to us so we would have to call them every time we needed propane and we would have to negotiate a reasonable price comparable to other companies with lower prices per gallon. They never gave us as good of prices as other companies. Finally after 26 years they sent someone out here to look at the situation because we became furious and hired another company to come out and connect another smaller tank up and told Suburban to "come get your tank "so they agreed to let us buy the tank because they couldn't get theirs out of here. They run you in circles. I dropped a tank off for recertifying and refilling. They said they would wait until I picked it up to refill it - otherwise it threw off their daily counts. So when I picked it up a couple days later I had to go in the office to get the tank, take it around to the driveway on the other side of the building, wait in line to get it refilled, then go back in the office to pay for it. Plus their propane is more per gallon than a good many gas stations. Better customer service would have it refilled and waiting for me. read more

I've only had one experience with suburban propane. During the ice storm, a couple years back, I went to suburban propane and not only did they fill the 5 gallon tank I had with me and they also made an adapter for me to be able to run a smaller propane tank to a little buddy heater. I wouldn't have gotten through five days without electricity, without suburban propane. read more

The absolute worst! Highest price. After I prepaid to get the best price, and I had to buy way more propane than I needed to get that price, I was charged for the 3 gallons above the 280 gallons I had paid for, in full, in August, they charged me $6.19 a gallon! $23.00 for 3 gallons of propane! My tank was installed improperly.The vent pointed up and under my roof which is illegal. I was lied to on the phone, and it was then implied that it was I who was lying to them!! They picked up their tank 6 weeks after I let them know it was empty, and now they have sent me a bill for $100.00 to pick up their own tank! I wish I had read this review before I chose my propane provider. One star is too many!! read more

I am no expert in propane systems, but having run a food cart for a few years, I do have experience with them. I understand the jargon: psi, btu, etc. I know what a regulator does, and how to calibrate it. I am not a complete noob when it comes to running a kitchen on propane. But I am in no way an expert. Which is why I turned to the experts for advice and assistance. Some jackass stole the regulator off Yarp?! while it was parked off of Capitol hwy for the summer, and I needed to replace it for the new owners. I went down there to get the part and ask about how best to replace some of the hose which was cut off during the theft. That's when things rapidly descended into a terrible experience. The dude in the back was rude and completely unwilling to offer advice or assistance, and wouldn't even set me up with the correct gear at first. It was only after I became rude myself that he was willing to help. But even after throwing down 80$ for the new part, he didn't include everything I needed. I was forced to come back for more parts, despite the fact that I told him what I needed. Wait, it gets worse. I paid cash for the regulator and attachments, but when I returned to buy the small part they'd neglected to sell me before, I was paying with my debit card. However, they wouldn't accept my card because the "secret number code" on the back was worn off. Not the signature, the card is still readable electronically, I have valid I.D. and the item was only 4$. But because they couldn't enter the code number they wouldn't accept it for payment. I had to drive down the street and get money out of an ATM and drive back to purchase the item. And yes, they were rude about it. Too bad they're the "experts" in town, because I would have walked out the first time when the shop guy was insulting me and my intelligence and spent my money elsewhere. read more

The WORST option for propane. AVOID AVOID AVOID! We have a generator and unfortunately the previous owner went with these clowns for the rental and filling of the propane tanks. We have no choice, as it was already set up, piped into the house. We are sadly, locked in. Customer service is LOUSY, the WORST I've ever encountered: After the previous owners 1 year paid up came to an end, we had to phone them to try to pay them. Honestly, they wouldn't take our money without us begging. After 7 calls and a lot of time and stress followed by more screw ups by their team, I finally forced them to take our payment after getting the main corporate office involved (as it was now 4 months past the due date and we are NEVER late in making payments). Just when we thought their mess was solved we learned Renee lost our newly set up account and they came over to turn off the propane without any warning!! They had our emails, phone numbers and obviously our address, since we are renting 2 huge tanks. But they made no attempt to contact us. I was told Renee is the best and would have to deal with her. Their BEST is the WORST. Well, another year has gone by and guess what: The chaos starts all over. We are calling them 2 months in with no response (they can't find our account) and won't take our money. Now we have to wait for them to try to shut off the fuel and threaten legal action to get them to clean up their unscrupulous business practices. If you have to deal with these idiots, just go to the main corporate office and let them know how poorly Suburban Propane office 97223 is handling your account in order to avoid spending months fighting with them to take your payment. I've had better customer service while travelling through a developing country during civil war! read more

I am not usually one for leaving negative reviews, but buyer beware... I have been trying to get my house in the country converted to propane. Unfortunately, Suburban is the only company that services my area. The quote price has changed from the original, appointments have been missed, and overall communication is poor. I was finally supposed to have the tanks installed today, and had coordinated my contractor change out our kitchen appliances this morning. The tanks were scheduled to be delivered at 9:30am. At 10:45 Suburban was still a no-show. When I called, they told me that they knew that they had missed the appointment, but had a weak excuse as to why they did not call. They now say that they will be here tomorrow. I am open to upgrading this review if they can figure out a way to get it together. Stay tuned... Update 1/13/2016: After posting this review, A friend recommended Luke's Propane in Molalla, Oregon. After talking with Luke, He said that he was too busy to get a tank set up in a short period of time, but he did recommend Century Propane in Mulino, Oregon. I spoke with Jack at Century he said that it would be no problem to get the exact set-up that Suburban was going to do. Not only that, but they could do it by 2pm tomorrow! It is going to take less than 24 hours for Century to do what Suburban could not do in 2 months! read more

Not for consumers. Customer service is terrible. I found what I needed at my local Ace Hardwear, go there or support you local hardware store. I called and they said they are open till 4:30pm. I called again to verify parts available and they couldn't then also said the parts department is only open till 2:30 pm. I arrived at 2:25 pm and asked for parts; the first clerk said the parts department closed at 2:30pm.. I stated it was only 2:25pm and clerk #2 began to laugh and told me to come back tomorrow or call first next time. They should publicly post the parts department is by appointment only. read more

Major SAFETY concern. In March of this year I took my 7 gallon propane tank to this business to get it filled before our first RV trip of the year. The technician was about to connect the tank to the filling station when I asked: "when does this tank have to be re-certified"? The technician checked an told me it was due in 2016 and he could not fill it without recertification. Now, I had my propane tanks filled for the trips in 2016 and 2017 at the same location and nobody had checked the certification date. This means I was traveling with tanks without certification, in my opinion a clear safety risk. I would have expected the business to check the tank each time it was refilled, This business hasn't done this for the last two years!!! I asked for re-cert and requested a pickup date of Friday that week, I believe I dropped off the tank on a Tuesday. Friday at 3 PM my tank was still not done. The front office person was very helpful and she asked a different technician to have my tank recertified. The whole process including filling the tank took only 10 minutes, apparently only a visual inspection is done. Before the next trip in a few weeks I took in the second tank we have on our 5th-wheel. I dropped it off Thursday last week and asked for completion by Tuesday, which the friendly office person wrote on my order, which I prepaid. Tuesday the recertification was again not done and I was told I would be called when the tank is done. I had to call Thursday afternoon and was told the tank was done. I picked it up today, no apology just the technician putting the blame on the front office as they had "gotten the wrong name" and "they should have called you". Needless to say that I will not go back to this company. The lack of safety concern and the laid back "we get it done when we get it done" attitude are UNACCEPTABLE. read more

Called a head of time to make sure that they were open before I drove across town on icy roads to get there. When I arrived, the 3 people in the office said they could not help me with a simple 20lbs propane cylinder. Apparently the *only* person would could deal with a simple request like that had left with the truck to deliver cylinders and would not be back until the late afternoon. I complained that I had called to be sure they were open. Their reply "oh we are open, there is just no one who can help you." These guys are real business geniuses, as their response seemed totally adequate to them! (Huge eye roll) read more

I was in a rush to get a tank and propane for a new furnace and should have researched companies and prices first. Once Suburban Propane had me on a 3 year contrac the prices sky rocketed. Three to four times high than other providers in the same area. I was also charged for one fill that I did not receive and by the time I realized it, I could not prove it other than there was no way that much fuel was used, it would have fried the furnace. The autofill conveniently filled at the highest cost most often, not during low season. I was paying more than $6 per gallon in winter and more than $3 per gallon during summer. I am switching now to $1.69 per gallon. read more

I went to Suburban Propane for the first time this week, to get a 1-gallon propane tank serviced. The tank is part of our Weber charcoal grill w/ gas starter and its certification was many years expired and it has a quick release connection that prevented companies like UHaul and Airgas from filling it. The staff at Suburban Propane were so helpful and accommodating and I was very pleased to be able to get the tank recertified and filled while I waited for only a few minutes. read more

I am a new customer. I ordered 1/2 tank, 116 gallons which was delivered on January 2nd. I was informed today that there was accidentally 2 deliveries, both for 116 gallons each. The main reason I only ordered 1/2 a tank was because I wasn't sure how long I would be living at that address. I am now obligated on an 11 month payment program which was never my intention. I have NEVER HAD such terrible Customer Service as I did with this company. I bought a new home, had a Propane line put in as I purchased a Cook Stove and Fireplace and we do not have NW Gas. . I signed up with them the end of November. I called repeatedly to get them to bring me a tank as my Grandson was coming home for Christmas from the service and I was cooking Christmas dinner. I got no delivery no nothing. I would call and the receptionist would say I am sorry you must of got lost in the shuffle. On December 21 I demanded to talk to owner or manager and BEGGED (and even broke down and cried) asking them to get me a tank so I could cook Christmas dinner. All he could say was I am sorry we don't have a technician to come out and hook you up. They finally delivered a Temporary Cylinder at 7:00 at night on the 23rd. After many calls I never got the 120 lb tank that I was set up to get. They even sent their driver out to fill the 120 lb tank that was not here. BUT I sure have gotten Bills for set up fee, Tank rental and a Fill. I finally got signed up with another company and have what I needed in less then 2 weeks. Today I got a call from a Collection agency with the company to collect a check for tank, fill and set up fee. She said I am sorry but you have been billed so I need to collect it. I don't think so ... Please share with friends that are thinking of using this horrible company. read more

Beware! I unfortunately got into a three year contract with these people and they started putting the screws to me after about a year. They would send me a bill for over $5.60 per gallon and when I called they would lower it to $3.60. and then the next month...same thing. My three years couldn't get over fast enough. That seems like no way to do business. I wonder how many other seniors just paid their bills at the higher price. I am now paying $2.62 per gallon. I have had Suburban for the past 15 years. They are constantly higher than any other propane company out there. Not just a little but more than 3 to 4 dollars more!!! Their customer service is the worst ever!!! They actual yell at the customer. I have had to call on almost every bill to fight for a reduction, due to the fact that they are cheating every one of you out there!! Their is constant hidden costs, and they just do not care!! I have never seen such poor service or lack of caring about the customers needs in my life!! I have checked out the competition and America Gas and also Pacific Energy green seem to understand the customers needs. They do not charge any where near the prices Suburban does. Please do not use their services you will be sorry. It is actual extortion in my book, they will rob you blind. I have discontinued with them and the difference is like night and day. Awful customer service. Avoid this place. My wife packed up our two children, two propane bottles from the BBQ and attempted to have them filled. She was told to sit and wait for someone to help her. After 20 minutes she left. The attendant was "working" with another customer and ignored her the entire time even though she was in the same room. Either pay attention to your customers and provide basic service or don't allow walk-in business off the street. read more

Despite being busy and short-handed, they built us a custom propane hose the same day we called, and actually delivered it that same evening after work for free. He would have hooked it up too, but my wife and I selfishly wanted to go do something else. All for less than $30. I have an older RV with a propane tank that was over filled by Uhaul. I contacted the Oregon Fire Marshall who recommended that the propane supplier (Suburban Propane) be contacted, as they deliver and also train the people on safe propane handling; so that they could "flame off the excess in a controlled burn" in order to fix the problem safely. I have been trying to contact Mike King, NW regional manager since Tuesday afternoon, to no avail. The State Fire Marshall has also been unable to to reach Mike King. I have been told my overfilled propane tank is dangerous by the Fire Marshall's office. I can not get Suburban Propane to talk with me or agree to fix the problem of my over filled tank and I am concerned for the safety risk. I am deeply disappointed that Suburban Propane does not seem to regard safety or integrity as a value, especially in the dangerous world of propane. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY. read more

I can't believe this nightmare continues. When we went to suburban in beaverton, oregon the staff offered us this great deal on a tank rental and propane was almost $2.80 a gallon. that price was comparable to other local companies so we signed up. This is where it turns to what, in my opinion, is extortion and outright gouging. when my tank ran low in less than half the time suburban said it "should" last, I called for a fill and was told the price per gallon was $7.45! i asked to talk with the store manager and he told me that was the going price. I called other companies and got a price of $3.85 per gallon to $4.25. i called the store manager back and he began to yell at me. rather than play his word games with him i cancelled our service and told the manager himself to have their tank picked up and removed from my property. That was over eight months and several calls to them before they picked up the tank last week. We got a bill from them a couple days later for the next years tank rental! Called the billing dept and they "fixed" the problem and showed a zero balance. Now we got a bigger bill to pick up the tank! $90.00 after leaving it on my property for eight months. I wonder how the employees feel knowing that their paychecks that support their families come from ripping off and extorting their fellow Americans? My family fought and will still fight for the freedom of the people and this is how suburban propane thanks our veterans? read more
