Tommy was amazing! He was incredibly patient while we were trying to decide whether to rent a trailer or have movers help us instead - with a 600lb piece of furniture! We bought a TV packing kit today. Once home, we realized the packing corners were missing from the box. I called and spoke to Shay, who said come get them. I said it's a round trip of 33 miles to do that. I asked how she would compensate us for our trouble. She said they would refund the cost of the box. When my husband arrived, she instructed her coworker to give him the corners. Fortunately, my husband reminded her of her words to me. He got compensated, in the end, after getting attitude for reminding her. Unacceptable way to run a business. No wonder the store has 2.5/5 !!! read more

Sloppy First I purchased a hitch on the U-Haul web site and scheduled an appointment for last Friday. The next day U-Haul reschedules the appointment without asking me if it was doable. I get to the 11am appointment and ask how long will it take and should be an hour. But the service guy needs to take his lunch so maybe two. Wait, I have an appointment? Doesn't matter eh? Two hours and 22 minutes later they text me started it's ready for pick up. I pick up the jeep and drive back to work. Later, driving to errands I noticed a more hotrod sound coming out of my jeep. That's cool but something is wrong with the exhaust system. It should not sound so cool. Early the next day I tried to call the U-Haul location directly but was pushed to national. Told them the problem and they tried to contact the GM at the location but did not get ahold of anyone. National told me to take jeep back to the location and have them check it. Jumped into the jeep, started it then piped the hood, maybe I can localize the problem before taking it in. Sure enough, there was a part of the intake system that needs to be removed to get to the battery, it was sitting on top of the engine. Sloppy! I put it back and my jeep doesn't sound as cool. We rented the largest truck they have, and part way through the day we realized it wouldn't be big enough. UHaul rented us a second smaller truck, and I was so glad I didn't have to reserve it. We got the move done with trouble. The people at UHaul were courteous and helpful. read more

Terrible Terrible management. When I asked to speak with a manager after this idiot couldn't help me with anything! I was told there's no manager on staff? Are you kidding me! This is supposed to a professional establishment and they run it like a bunch of bozos... I've been renting trucks from uhaul weekly and have rent 5 total in the last 4 weeks! Not including the 8 total trucks also rented by my friends and family. Now they want to charge me a bs fee when they always charge my card on file! I called yesterday to take care of the charge and everything was fine! I asked is there anything else for me to take care of? The lady said no you are all good to go sir! BS!!! I got charged today an extra charge! When I called to dispute the same incompetent lady said that there's nothing she could do, said they can't see the charges I need to make? Ok so how in the hell do you charge me in the first place if you can't pull up my balance? Thats the lamest excuse i've ever heard! Lazy idiotic argumentative nonsense of a location. I'd advise they be shut down and I will NOT be using them for any of my future rentals. I told them to keep the money since they saved me money by teaching me to never use them again! Shocking price inflation at the end of the transaction. Especially when online we were quoted something much more affordable. Shady, false advertising when it comes to picking up, and dropping off 'anywhere' ..just not without a massive fee? $400-500 to drop off in another city? Or $100 in gas to get it back to the original location? Was told it was the best option when we originally inquired. Seems as though the Uhaul business has changed dramatically since covid. Or perhaps it was just this location. Or maybe that misunderstanding is on us? However it has made us completely reconsider using uhaul services ever again. Your employee said you don't have propane available then admits he doesn't know how to fill a tank. Which is it? Your customers don't like being lied to. Pass on using U-Haul at the Tigard location. My original quote was $49. Before I left the lot I noticed the truck had 554 miles, not 534 like the paperwork said. I went back inside and the rental lady said they'd adjust it. I went 10 miles over my quote and filled the gas tank. When I dropped off the truck they told me it would be $130. I was shocked considering, but figured a quote was a quote. The guy informed me my mileage was 534 when I left and that's why I had the charge. I showed him my note from the manager saying she adjusted the miles. He told me that didn't matter and that it was $130. Finally, after a lot of back and fourth he said "okay, fine, $109." I left and called UHaul. They refunded me $17. Whatever, not the greatest victory but at least it was something. Early this morning I log into my bank account and I see a $59 charge. Just a random $59 days later. I call again- I wait another 30 mins on hold. The rep I get tells me I got hit for $109 because I had the truck two days - I had it for 3 hours on Friday. Then tells me that when they refunded the $17, they had to put another security hold on my card for $59. She explained she had no idea why they even did it that way and that the money will go back into my account in 7 business days. What the hell? Skip it. Hire movers instead. read more

I had rented a 6x12 trailer from this location. The trailer was hooked up and coupled by a uhaul employee. Not once did I remove the trailer from the hitch. While driving with a full payload, the trailer decoupled and slammed into the back of the truck. The general manager blamed me and charged me the damage to the trailer. While only a 96 dollar charge, the principal that uhaul would not own the fact that the clip on the coupler or installation of the trailer was faulty, and instead blamed me, has lost all of uhaul a lifetime customer. My family has been driving uhaul since as long as I can remember and I have been renting them and driving them since I was 16. I will no longer rent or drive from uhaul and I am in the process of moving my storage elsewhere I'm sure I'm just 1 customer out of millions, and the general manager Larry, definitely made me feel like that. Just out to get his 96 bucks. No care in the world about how dangerous of a situation his trailer put me in. read more

Let's face it, nobody enjoys the stress of moving right? My experience with this location has been great. The gave me immediate answers to all my questions and helped me and Jenna big time. I always roll with my Great Dane - Smokey- We visited and set up the moving truck and car trailer. The whole time Smokey walked thru and made friends off leash and nobody tripped out on a horse sized dog mobbin around the store. Very friendly and helpful. Word of advice- table your moving stress and be decent and they will bend over backwards to help. Vice Versa- if you go in pissy and with an attitude, be ready to get it right back. read more

Absolutely horrible customer service. I scheduled appointment online for hitch install only to be told by the guys behind the counter that my service was canceled. I asked them how that was possible without informing me? They said "not our problem, talk to corporate". I told them I confirmed over the phone that my appointment was good. And have order confirmation email. They said "Can't help you". I told them this was unacceptable and asked them as a customer how they can make it right. They said " corporate screwed up, talk to them". I said are you all not on the same team? They said "not really ". I finally gave up and asked to refund me. They both said " thank God"! By then I was really offended. I filed a complaint worth corporate only to be told that they cannot validate what happened in the u-haul front desk and sorry all they could do is refund me. I said, I already asked for refund why wasn't it already done. I have still yet to be refunded so now have my bank involved. What a JOKE this location is. AVOID at all costs. No empathy. Got a hitch installation and they charged me $60 for the electrical wiring installation but they didn't run the cable through the underside of the car, just connected it to the port and left it hanging in the trunk. $60 to just plug in a cable, more than the price of the electrical system itself. read more

Uhaul headquarters in Phoenix, Arizona. Yes, they were polite and helpful after the truck and dolly I rented in Portland, Oregon caused a catastrophic sequence of events when both were either loaded incorrectly or had mechanical failures. My household belongings, vehicle and pet were subjected to about 9 breakdowns on the highway culminating in the final breakdown where Uhaul advised I get to a safe place to regroup from the disaster caused by the defective truck and tow dolly. Long story made short, Uhaul advised that I file a complaint/claim to get my damaged vehicle, belongings and storage reimbursed or repaired. It's been over 9 years and Uhaul did not compensate for any repairs or storage but did make unauthorized charges to my Chase card billing me twice. And that's it. I never reached my intended destination using Uhaul moving equipment and truly never recovered from this mess. read more

I am part of an organization that regularly rents 26' trucks. I have rarely had padlocks that function properly, and now make it a priority to check before leaving. I have loaded a truck and been unable to open without returning to the location. In addition to having this occur again this past weekend, I was rented a truck with a driver's door that wouldn't close properly. When locked, you could not unlock the door with the key, forcing you to enter through the passenger side. The loading lights would not stay on, creating more unsafe conditions. As it turns out, the battery appears to have been about shot! The customer service is all over the place. Friday night's crew was very helpful, while tonight's didn't know the meaning of the phrase; despite renting trucks 4 times a year, and having rented a storage locker for over 5 years now. Loyalty appears to mean very little. As such, I believe it is time for our organization to make a change!! Roll the dice if you like! Enter at your own risk! read more

U-haul they rent trucks and install trailer hitches. I have used this location for both. Truck rentals have always been pretty standard. My hitch installation went to total shit though. My appointment was for 4:00 PM. they didn't start installing my hitch until after 5:00. I understand running behind, but at 4:00, they said it would be started in just a few minutes. Nobody came to tell me what was going on. A little communication goes a long way in keeping me happy. The Sherwood location is just as close to me so I will probably get my trucks from that location the future. read more

The WORST experience I have ever had at U-Haul. We rented a pickup truck from here to move a chair for my mother. We paid extra to have accident coverage on the vehicle. I was told to double check the gas and mileage before I left the premises which I did. I drove 11 miles and had the truck for about an hour without me ever leaving the vehicle. I returned the vehicle to a worker who walked around it and checked the mileage and gas. He told me the total and asked if I wanted a paper receipt or they could email it to me (which I did not receive). I said that was fine. One week later my mom checks her bank statement and they have charged her an extra $150. She calls and they say there was a dent in it when we returned and we have to pay the deductible. She calls me and I make a call to the manager. The manager says that the employee who walked around it "didn't see it" until 10 minutes later. What! You heard me right. They NEVER notified us to tell us about it. She explained that the $150 is better than the $450 it would have been without the coverage. I asked why they do not do a walk around with the customer when they pick it up ( like every car rental place on earth) and she said "we don't have time for that, we have customers to help". After arguing for 15 minutes she said I had to fill out forms to dispute it. This is an absolute SCAM! You can't check in a vehicle with a visual walk around, complete my purchase and come back later and charge me for a dent that did not occur on my watch without contacting the customer. They have taken advantage of a 75 year old customer on a fixed income. Unbelievable! One word. Karma! Renters beware! Take a video of your rental before you leave their lot or you too may become a victim. read more

I'm in the process of moving. It's taking me forever, it has been raining, and I have 2 helpers, a pal and my hubby who are both sick with a new version of the flu and surviving on dayquil and nyquil. This is my 4th time in over a decade that I've used this location u-haul truck rental services. This is the first time I've had such a pleasant experience with the customer service agents. The LDS missionaries came to help us a couple of times, which I'm very thankful for! These are are great, young, strong, patient and helpful young men who want to help you out with service. It's super awesome! I rented the truck for 3 days. Paid $29.95 + $14 insurance each day. I'm happy that this u-haul location has true customer service. I truly feel taken care of every time I call with a concern or a question. I guess the verdict will be after all said and done, but right now while in the process of moving, they have been hands-down totally and completely awesome! read more

This is the worst U-Haul location! We had a reservation through the online system. The system had problems with multiple reservations including double booked trucks. When we asked for help, both employees shrugged their shoulders and said, "If you don't like our system go inside and get inline". He took the keys to the double booked trucks and left all the customers outside. Meanwhile, the line inside was to the entry doors. Horrible customer service. An automated voice would've treated people better. We had our reservation for two days! This is my first review. It's sad that it had to be a negative one. They are now not honoring anyone's reservation! I understand having a bad day, but it is 9:30am. This is the worst customer experience I've ever had. Their line for customer service issues has a 20min wait to talk to a representative! Please don't waste your time at this location. We are now scrambling with other customers to find a different location last minute. This is not the way to treat your customers... I wish I could rate this location a Zero... read more

The problem isn't the equipment or the business systems. The problem is the staff. Unnecessarily rude employees who clearly only have a job because it's a large corporation. Negative stars would be appropriate for this vendor. Even with and advance reservation you will stand in line for a very long time. And once you get your rental and you are ready to leave you must get back in line to check out. How long might this take on a busy day? 90 minutes. They rent a lot here. So service suffers. There is a great crew at the Bridgeport rental office and they don't make you rot in lines and take great care of thier customers. This place does not care. Returns are nuts also. If you have a trailer you have to figure out how to not roll it down the big hill while the parking lot is completely full of return vans. Basically this is a high volume operation and you will struggle with dealing with them. Go some place else. You will regret your experience here. read more

I visited this location, not to rent a truck but merely to buy a box. They have a lot of boxes in a lot of sizes, all at pretty good prices compared to other places i checked. It took a little longer than it should have due to two customers hogging the registers with ridiculously complicated rental inquiries, but i'm assuming that's not normal. And maybe this is a problem with all truck rental places, but the other customers were all awfully sketchy. I swear the guy in front of me was renting a truck to dispose of bodies. He couldn't have looked more awkwardly suspicious if he tried. read more

I have twice rented here - trucks were ready, clean, and in good shape. The terms of the contract were well spelled out and they made sure we were aware of them, not just tossing them in print and expecting us to read through but calling attention to key points. The online reservation page seems to lock up every time, in two browsers, before I can complete; but I just called and was all set up in just a minute or two. They DID fail to have a hand truck with our van rental, but that's an unusual request (since there's no ramp in the vans, the hand truck isn't useful - we wanted one to deal with a slightly long path AFTER getting out of the van at one of the houses). But they sorted it out, and were very apologetic and helpful. read more

My first rental this week, I was double charged for my rental, I still have yet to receive a refund. When we returned the truck, one of their mechanics was having a seizure and no one knew what to do. As I am trained in CPR and first aid I gave the people standing around watching a belt, instructed them to put in his mouth and ran inside to make sure 911 was being called. When things got back to relatively normal, Moab instructed me that I only had until 7 to move into my unit and it was $10 more than what was on my reservation. Every day I had this damned van, there was some issue with charges that were extra or mistakes. My husband lightly closed a van door with his hip (he's not obese) and it left a very small dent. Even after we spent the $14 extra for insurance we still got charged $150 for it. We are getting our stuff out of that storage unit ASAP. They've taken over $1000 from us this week and treated us horribly. Go somewhere, anywhere else. read more

I just got out of the truck, he looked it over real quick, jotted down the mileage (I was over), charged me for the overage [which I believe was miscalculated in my favor!] and that was it. I've used this location to rent moving vans/trucks at least 3 times and their services are the best. I reserved a truck on-line and everything was ready to go when I arrived. I've rented an 18', a 20' and finally a 26' truck. All went well, trucks were in great condition. The staff are efficient and helpful. I also used their moving helper service this last time. You can hire at least 2 guys to do the heavy lifting. The next 2 paragraphs are about the movers. We had a problem here, not with U-Haul but with the first movers contracted, Lightning Movers, who have good reviews. These guys were one of the least expensive and we might have found out why. They were good about calling ahead to set up the time for our move. But on the day of the move, when they were a half hour late, we called them to find out what was up; they didn't call us. They said they had to find a guy to replace one who called out sick. Long story short, 2 hours after their appointed time and no movers, we called U-Haul to find us someone else. They were quick to find another available mover. (Lightning Movers finally called to get directions, they were lost!) U-Haul got us connected with Up Town Movers, who were in the Lake Oswego area. They are based in Salem. They were able to set us up for the afternoon. The 2 guys showed up early! Josh and Derek (or Duane, sorry guys, I'm not great with names) worked quickly and efficiently. Even if this was their second gig of the day, they didn't flag. They got us moved by dusk within the 4 hour minimum. We don't plan on moving again, but if we do, we know who we'd hire; an U-Haul on SW Pacific Hwy will be my go-to rental outfit. read more

I have used a couple different uhauls in my life and this one by far has the worst customer service, we were dropping a trailer off and the worker came out yelling at us to not leave it in the drop off area. While we were being helped we were left alone in the store without being helped at all. I definitely wouldn't recommend going to this one I would recommend stopping by at the Sherwood one for any uhaul help. read more

Possibly the worst experience I have ever had from a company. I got three different quotes from three different people and was told its because some of them are higher ranked than others. Really? That's not fair to the customers. Then when I mentioned that they should all be on the same page they decided not to deal with me and just add an extra fee to my bill (that they would send me). In my personal opinion I felt that they didn't care if they had my business or not. As if they were the only way I could get my belongings from point A to point B. But I hope they realize that word of mouth (i.e. Facebook, me being a bartender and a social butterfly) is how businesses make it these days. I will never recommend this place to anybody. These days you can rent a zipcar van for $30 with gas paid for. read more

This team made it so easy for move. They had our reservation ready 30 minutes ahead of time, which was awesome!!! They waited on us right away! We looked over the truck, signed our contract and was on our way. Bringing back the truck was even easier. We followed the arrows, parked and they checked the truck for gas, mileage and condition. They tallied our bill and we were on our way. They were friendly, professional and the truck was clean. read more

I can't say anything too harsh or too good about this place. They're reliable and I've never had a hard time renting a truck when I needed it. I did find the counter-rep very polite, but overly aggressive in trying to sell me the insurance package. I had to say "no" multiple times - I haven't been in an accident EVER and no tickets in over 12 years. Usually the truck is a mess and I have to spend 20min listing damages to it so they don't inadvertently charge for existing problems.. but this truck was in perfect shape. They told me the gas was on full though, when it was clearly a 1/6 of the way below the "F" line. I had to have them come out and take note . Decent experience. read more

The manager of this store doesn't even deserve the 1-star but so be it. I made a Ubox reservation with the manager at the Tigard location in August 2020 and went to pick my Uboxes up at said location on October 4th, but the manager told me, without even asking for a reservation #, name, etc., told me that they don't even have Uboxes at that location (not true). He said my Uboxes were to be picked up at Lake Oswego. So I called Lake Oswego and they said they didn't have the right amount of Uboxes for me to pickup because the reservation was transferred to them by the manager of the Tigard store at 9:45 the morning of October 4th. Come to find out the manger of the Tigard store does this to them OFTEN; however, LO did their best to get 2 Uboxes ready for me to take that afternoon. While waiting, I called the Tigard location to try to understand why this happened, and he proceeded to be extremely rude and unprofessional, not even taking ownership of HIS mistake. He even went so far as to say that I was told weeks ago that my reservation had been transferred to Beaverton (I was not notified of such change). I was so upset by the way I was treated that I filed a complaint with Uhual Corporate and they confirmed that at no time was my reservation ever transferred to Beaverton. I will never use Uhaul again due to this treatment. It's too bad that the manager of one store can ruin the Uhaul name as a whole. He should be fired. read more

Evidently some people love 'em and some people hate 'em. I love 'em. I've been consistently treated with respect and dealt with promptly, and have seen them work hard for my business. I got a hitch put on this morning. 9am appointment. I got there at 8:50 and they got right on it. The computer said they couldn't do the wiring, just the hitch. But they called me right away while I was across the street waiting and said they'd found a wiring harness they could install so I wouldn't have to order and install it myself. They had to make an extra effort to find that harness. The install was lickety split and the shop rate is better than my own mechanic's. Like I told them at the counter: U-Haul is a big name, a company with a nationwide scope. But these people act like they're a hardscrabble little local place doing their best to make themselves worthy of my business. Sorry if this review seems over the top--I got over-the-top service this morning, so the review fits the service. Thanks. read more

I could deal with a little snow and ice during a move. No problem. The problems my husband and I faced in the last 24 hours with this company are another thing however. One of the first things wrong was that we were told Dolly's and pads would be in the back of the truck. None were there. We then discovered that the people who used the truck prior to us did not clean it out and there was random trash and broken glass on the ramp. Then after spending about a good portion of the night packing and loading the truck, the next morning we wake up to find it's been leaking in the attic part of the truck. We had to call numerous times to voice our concerns about it. After having to take out everything we loaded, the truck wouldn't start so we had to wait for about an hour before Roadside Service came. When we finally returned the truck, the representative at the counter, Marina, was helpful until the point she decided she was comfortable enough to rudely interrupt my husband and raise her voice while he was voicing his concern. We got another truck and the phone number of the GM who we will definitely call to get this completely resolved. Worst service and services ever provided. read more
