Had a couple coworkers look at it and we all agreed that it was probably the starter. First red flag was the owner couldn't give me a price estimate. He said he would tell me the price when he was done with the service. I left my car there Thursday was called Saturday saying it was ready for pickup. He told me it was my starter. I pick up my car on Saturday and as I was a block away from my house it stopped in the middle of an intersection. Called the mechanic and he told me to try to turn it off and on which I did and then drove it straight to the shop again. ( it stopped twice more otw there) My ac worked perfectly fine before and that was broken too. What upset me was he wouldn't own up to making a mistake and just tried to blame me instead. He was really trying to take advantage. I had to call my father to go in there and check what was going on because they weren't taking me seriously. Monday they called me and told me they wanted me to pick up my car right away cause it was fixed. He was really passive aggressive over the phone telling me that if I couldn't pick it up I had to send someone to pick it up as soon as possible. That it wasn't their fault my car was just randomly stopping. I guess when you take a car to a mechanic is not their job to ensure your vehicle works 100% It sucks because they had really great reviews but I wouldn't do any business with them.

The owner, John, was very upfront about expectations, and said it could possibly be in the $2.5 to $4k range if another rebuild and expensive parts were needed. After he had a chance to take it apart to inspect, he determined the main problem was that it needed a new solenoid body. He replaced it, along with some other work, and the cost for parts and labor was a fraction of the initial rough estimate he gave. The best part is the T-Bird shifts great now and is a joy to drive again (I can put that V8 to good use now :) John was honest, fair and really knew what he was doing to get the job done right (and, as a side note, a really nice guy to deal with). I highly recommended John and Advantage Transmission in Woodstock for any transmission issues you might have in the future. 10 out of 10 all around!

Absolute worst automotive experience in my like....2 months to rebuild a transmission being told…read moreevery week....." it will be ready mid week" and that was after giving them $2,000 up front...never called, I would have to go there every week to get lied to....they replaced a sway bar that dint need replacing and wanted $570 for that..left the windows down on the car overnight in the parking lot durring a rainstorm...and when I got it back after a month, the transmission was slipping..I brought it back and they said it was an engine problem....the car had just passed emissions and had zero engine problems....they said it was throwing some codes but refused to say what codes or provide a print out of any sort...they replaced a MAP and MAF sensor ( they actually farmed that out to another shop without telling me ) cost about another $700.....so $4700 to put in a shotty transmission and screw up my engine after 2 months with no car.....DO NOT TRUST A WORD THEY SAY....I have filed a complaint with the Attorney Generals office and will take the car to a real auto shop to be fixed and sue them for the proper repairs....STAY AWAY

Return to shop to have it looked at and they say to leave it with them. Two days go by without a word on the status of my car and the 4th of July weekend approaching. I decided to call and check on it only to be told that Dave is not around and they will have my truck ready by end of day.....Great I'm thinking until I call at 445 only to find out that they closed early that day for the holiday and I never received a call and my truck was stuck there when I needed it. I finally get a call a few days later saying it's all fixed so once again leave the shop and this time 30 minutes away the trans starts slipping and warning lights come on. I bring it back to them and they say they te going to put another part on it but nope still doesn't fix it. I bring it back again and Dave says that they are putting a trans cooler on it to stop the issue but nope doesn't fix it nor do I think they even put a trans cooler on it after having another shop look at it and looking at it myself I see no trans cooler so blatant lie. I'm now at the point where taking them to small claims court is the only option because even having the police call there didn't seem to do the trick, it actually made Dave furious and made him call me cussing up a storm. So if you have any brains at all..... Do Not Go Here The good reviews they have are probably friends or relatives. 1400 bucks for nothing but regardless one way or another the money is getting refunded or charges reversed for failure to provide services listed on contract.

I needed to authorize 3 hours of labor to take it apart and see what problem was, and they would call back at end of day. No call Thursday. I called Friday and was told they needed to order parts(bearings) and would be 3 hours labor to install. Would be done Saturday or Monday depending on when parts came in. No call by end of day Monday. I called Tuesday and said they were waiting on parts. I called Thursday and still waiting on parts. I called Monday and was told they have parts and working on it. Should be done end of day and will call me. No call. I called Tuesday, left message, and was told would be called back. No call back. I called Thursday and was told I would be called back. No call. I called Friday and was told finishing up work and then taking for test drive. Will call back before end of day. No call back. I called Saturday and was told they were taking it for test drive and would call me back. No call back. Tired of the B.S., I drove there first thing Monday to take my car back. Owner said, "glad you stopped by". Wanted me to take it for test drive. At this point, as long as it drove I was taking the car. Went through invoice and he told me that he fixed the wheel bearing also. Never authorized this work. So...1 week to diagnose problem, one week for part, and one week for installation. Price was fair and hopefully repair was done right. But NO communication and held car hostage for 3 weeks. Oh, and also noticed both front fender liners were never re-installed. Just hanging loose. Will never go back and highly recommend looking elsewhere.

He was told the calipers are sticking and need to be replaced. $500.00 15 minutes down the road, both front wheel are smoking bad! I called them the same day and Mark told me to bring my truck over the next day and they did a complete inspection and found nothing wrong which I was not surprised, but yet I always try to play to the side of caution.
