The engine came with a warranty and when things didn't work properly they took care of it without any hesitation. They had the estimator out in a timely manner to determine another engine would need to be installed and they provided me a loaner car while they worked on my car. I had been a customer of Engine Depot and Mr Kim for 10+ years and loved him and his service. He retired and Autotech took over his space. I took my 1999 Toyota Camry (with only 63,000 miles on it) in for an oil change. They listed a number of things my car needed, and said I had an oil pan leak, which I had never noticed. Another thing they said my car needed was a cabin filter. My car doesn't HAVE a cabin filter. I didn't get a good vibe from the whole experience (which took over an hour, even though I was the only customer in there for most of that time) and so went to another highly rated mechanic from Yelp. As we sat there and I was talking about my car and the oil leak, he looked out and said, "There's already a puddle forming under your car and you just got here." So he took it in the shop and had me come right out. He started the engine and you could see oil spewing out from the oil filter. He said they put the wrong filter on. Luckily, I drive my car very little (hence the very low mileage). He said if I'd been on the highway, I'd have blown my engine. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I called Julio, Autotech's owner, to tell him what happened, as a courtesy. He immediately started arguing with me that it wasn't possible to put on the wrong filter. I told him I didn't call to argue, I just wanted to tell him what happened so he could check the paperwork and tell the mechanic[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. He told me that mechanic was A certified. That may be, but someone put on the wrong oil filter. Needless to say, I won't be going back. read more

DO NOT GO HERE!! We brought our car in to Auto tech with an issue that they said would cost $2100. Even though it's a lot of money we felt it had to get done and trusted they would do it right.... After paying $2100 and leaving the lot we see that the check engine light is still on. We bring it back a couple days later and are told this is a separate issue and is going to cost us another $2000. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I pushed back and said that it didnt make sense that we would have to pay another $2000 for a problem they clearly didnt fix the first time, Victor (the owner?) didnt have an answer for me.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] So at this point we obviously dont trust them and decided to pass on paying another $2000. While trying to figure out our next move I took the car to a different mechanic (the mechanic I use for my car) he mentioned that whoever worked on the Audi did an extremely unprofessional job and all they did was spray silicone on it and it would cost a lot of money to fix their mistake. (* I attached pictures showing their poor work) [[HIGHLIGHT]]I then reached out to Autotech and was told Victor isnt available so I then reached out to them using their message service on their website. I brought my car here many times for various repairs. I won't bring it back again. I had good luck on the timeliness of the service, typically, but there were strange things, like they said my tires were bald and needed replacing, which I check regularly. Other ppl I recommended had other issues too including overcharging for a service. The last straw was I told him how much it would cost me to buy a new seat belt for an old car. I was hoping to get the repair done quickly, which he did, but used a 2009 seat belt, and charged me as if it were a brand new part! I asked them to take the old part out immediately and never came back. read more

I had work done on my car a few months ago. Customer service was fine, they did the work quickly, and the price seemed to be fair. I had no issues up until I drove my car after the repair. After having my brakes down, my brake pedal was extremely dull. I had to press down as hard as I could to get the car to stop. The next day I was driving down the highway to a haircut, and the car was extremely dangerous to be driving. The car didn't seem like it could be stopped no matter how hard I hit the pedal. Thankfully, I made it safely to my appointment, but I ended up getting the car towed back to the mechanic to be fixed. They told me a part was faulty/malfunctioning and they did it for free under the 1 year warranty they offered. Mistakes happen, but I was put in a very dangerous situation. I spoke to the owner or manager, and he was not very apologetic about it. "We'll have to see if it's something WE did".....as if I had caused the faulty repair or done something to the car myself. Before that, he was very cool and seemed like a good shop owner. Overall, they seem to have good reviews, so I feel that I was perhaps the unlucky person to experience a faulty part, but given how this could have been a severe accident due to malfunctioning brakes, I have to give 1 star. I've never gotten work done on my car and had this happen in my 15 years of being a car owner, so this is their fault. read more

I am so thankful for Victor and his staff at Autotech. My family and I were literally in a standstill on a Friday evening when our sliding door for our Honda Odyssey failed and would not close. My wife tried calling around and had no luck. Honda was willing to schedule an appointment for the following Monday. Luckily, my wife remembered seeing Autotech off of Arlington Heights and Central Rd. She called and they offered to take a look. Wow, within 5 minutes of arriving, Victor and his staff took a look and fixed the problem. Victor was patient and explained what happened. The Nicest thing was that Victor did not charge! There was no doubt in my mind and wallet that I should have paid but Victor was so gracious and asked for a review. Even as I write this review, I am still shocked and thankful. Close attention to details, didn't have to question whether things were done, Victor was already on top of it Treated me and my sports car with respect & care. He will not attempt a repair if not familiar with it. Others trashed car attempting things. Price very reasonable for time & type repair. Great service at a very fair rate. Brought my car in for an oil change and to have them inspect it for a grinding noise coming from my front left wheel. Service took about 2hrs (for oil change and brake pad/rotor replacement for the back wheels) and the owner Victor loaned me his personal car so I could run errands while I waited - fantastic customer service. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because when I left, I still had a grinding noise from my front left wheel . I took it back immediately and they were able to inspect the car again and remedy the noise and didn't charge me extra. I'd highly recommend them to anyone in the area. read more

I first discovered this place after my mechanic moved out of state... Let me start off by saying, JC is hands-down the most honest mechanics I've ever met. I initially went to him after getting numerous quotes from different shops. He not only told me what the exact problem was, he informed me that I didn't have to replace the entire part (which all the other shops recommended) but that he could replace the actual component. So a $1,200 quote from other shops was completed by him for $750. He could have easily told me that I needed to replace the entire part, like the other shops did, but he fixed the actual problem. I came in for an oil change and tire rotation on my Audi A4, andn asked them to check my wheel alignment. I received a call several hours later notifying me that the work had been completed. When I arrived, Victor was happy to explain the work that was done, and that a wheel alignment was unnecesssary. Went to get tires mounted and balanced on some wheels which took 2 hours. Charged $70 for the pair. How can you possibly take 2 hours to do so. Anyways, called again to see how much it would be to mount and balance A/T tires on 15in wheels and the lady that picked up the phone gave attitude quoted $50 per wheel. Went to big box store (five letter black red and yellow colors) in Niles and they did it for $25 AND changed the valve stem. I usually like dealing with small businesses but if they run a clown show then no way will I spend my time and money there. read more

Let my car sit in there lot all day with out even bringing in the shop. Go to pick up my car and it's still in the same spot I parked it in. Installed a sensor and it caused my whole engine to shake while I was driving it. Brought it immediately back and they agreed to give me my money back and put the old sensor back, went to the front desk for a refund and was told because I paid with credit card I had to wait until the next day. I replied with no I paid cash, then he picks up the phone after agreeing to give me a refund and calls someone and hands the phone over to me to explain to someone else's the whole situation after I'm already exhausted and upset! What kind of customer service is this? You charged me $150 to replace sensor that took your mechanic 5 minutes to install and it didn't fix the underlining issue. Never diagnosed my car instead showed me an article from a blog with possible solutions. He lied about my refund and they stole $150 from a single mom just trying to survive. This place is amazing! Eric (the owner) is SO great! I first went there when my car overheated and he quoted a fair price (my dad's a mechanic so I know about these things). I'm also a 20-something-year-old woman and was worried that I was going to be overcharged, but even before they knew that I had knowledge about cars they treated me very well. The repair took two days, so Eric even went out of his way and drove me to and from my house since I didn't have a ride (I later found out that this is actually something he does for a lot of his customers)! I have been going to them for over 5 years with 2 different cars, and I have friends who use them now too. Very personal service. When I first started going here, I was checking their quotes with some other places - but no need to do that anymore! They are just good people. I have had bad experiences with mechanics in the past, I am sure everyone has. Especially being a young woman, other places are always so condescending or trying to rip me off.
