I had been a customer of Engine Depot and Mr Kim for 10+ years and loved him and his service. He retired and Autotech took over his space. I took my 1999 Toyota Camry (with only 63,000 miles on it) in for an oil change. They listed a number of things my car needed, and said I had an oil pan leak, which I had never noticed. Another thing they said my car needed was a cabin filter. My car doesn't HAVE a cabin filter. I didn't get a good vibe from the whole experience (which took over an hour, even though I was the only customer in there for most of that time) and so went to another highly rated mechanic from Yelp. As we sat there and I was talking about my car and the oil leak, he looked out and said, "There's already a puddle forming under your car and you just got here." So he took it in the shop and had me come right out. He started the engine and you could see oil spewing out from the oil filter. He said they put the wrong filter on. Luckily, I drive my car very little (hence the very low mileage). He said if I'd been on the highway, I'd have blown my engine. I called Julio, Autotech's owner, to tell him what happened, as a courtesy. He immediately started arguing with me that it wasn't possible to put on the wrong filter. I told him I didn't call to argue, I just wanted to tell him what happened so he could check the paperwork and tell the mechanic. He told me that mechanic was A certified. That may be, but someone put on the wrong oil filter. Needless to say, I won't be going back. read more

DO NOT GO HERE!! We brought our car in to Auto tech with an issue that they said would cost $2100. Even though it's a lot of money we felt it had to get done and trusted they would do it right.... After paying $2100 and leaving the lot we see that the check engine light is still on. We bring it back a couple days later and are told this is a separate issue and is going to cost us another $2000. When I pushed back and said that it didnt make sense that we would have to pay another $2000 for a problem they clearly didnt fix the first time, Victor (the owner?) didnt have an answer for me. So at this point we obviously dont trust them and decided to pass on paying another $2000. While trying to figure out our next move I took the car to a different mechanic (the mechanic I use for my car) he mentioned that whoever worked on the Audi did an extremely unprofessional job and all they did was spray silicone on it and it would cost a lot of money to fix their mistake. (* I attached pictures showing their poor work) I then reached out to Autotech and was told Victor isnt available so I then reached out to them using their message service on their website. Of course I havent heard from anyone and got screwed over. Not sure what else I can do but I will be starting with the BBB and possibly legal. People should not be ripped off like this. I brought my car here many times for various repairs. I won't bring it back again. I had good luck on the timeliness of the service, typically, but there were strange things, like they said my tires were bald and needed replacing, which I check regularly. Other ppl I recommended had other issues too including overcharging for a service. The last straw was I told him how much it would cost me to buy a new seat belt for an old car. I was hoping to get the repair done quickly, which he did, but used a 2009 seat belt, and charged me as if it were a brand new part! I had work done on my car a few months ago. Customer service was fine, they did the work quickly, and the price seemed to be fair. I had no issues up until I drove my car after the repair. After having my brakes down, my brake pedal was extremely dull. I had to press down as hard as I could to get the car to stop. The next day I was driving down the highway to a haircut, and the car was extremely dangerous to be driving. The car didn't seem like it could be stopped no matter how hard I hit the pedal. Thankfully, I made it safely to my appointment, but I ended up getting the car towed back to the mechanic to be fixed. They told me a part was faulty/malfunctioning and they did it for free under the 1 year warranty they offered. Mistakes happen, but I was put in a very dangerous situation. I spoke to the owner or manager, and he was not very apologetic about it. "We'll have to see if it's something WE did".....as if I had caused the faulty repair or done something to the car myself. Before that, he was very cool and seemed like a good shop owner. Overall, they seem to have good reviews, so I feel that I was perhaps the unlucky person to experience a faulty part, but given how this could have been a severe accident due to malfunctioning brakes, I have to give 1 star. I've never gotten work done on my car and had this happen in my 15 years of being a car owner, so this is their fault. read more

Great service at a very fair rate. Brought my car in for an oil change and to have them inspect it for a grinding noise coming from my front left wheel. Service took about 2hrs (for oil change and brake pad/rotor replacement for the back wheels) and the owner Victor loaned me his personal car so I could run errands while I waited - fantastic customer service. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because when I left, I still had a grinding noise from my front left wheel . I visited AutoTech Auto Repair for the first time this past Friday. As soon as I entered the office, it felt like my business was appreciated. I came in for an oil change and tire rotation on my Audi A4, andn asked them to check my wheel alignment. I received a call several hours later notifying me that the work had been completed. When I arrived, Victor was happy to explain the work that was done, and that a wheel alignment was unnecesssary. I first discovered this place after my mechanic moved out of state... Let me start off by saying, JC is hands-down the most honest mechanics I've ever met. I initially went to him after getting numerous quotes from different shops. He not only told me what the exact problem was, he informed me that I didn't have to replace the entire part (which all the other shops recommended) but that he could replace the actual component. So a $1,200 quote from other shops was completed by him for $750. He could have easily told me that I needed to replace the entire part, like the other shops did, but he fixed the actual problem. Let my car sit in there lot all day with out even bringing in the shop. Go to pick up my car and it's still in the same spot I parked it in. Installed a sensor and it caused my whole engine to shake while I was driving it. Brought it immediately back and they agreed to give me my money back and put the old sensor back, went to the front desk for a refund and was told because I paid with credit card I had to wait until the next day. I replied with no I paid cash, then he picks up the phone after agreeing to give me a refund and calls someone and hands the phone over to me to explain to someone else's the whole situation after I'm already exhausted and upset! What kind of customer service is this? You charged me $150 to replace sensor that took your mechanic 5 minutes to install and it didn't fix the underlining issue. Never diagnosed my car instead showed me an article from a blog with possible solutions. He lied about my refund and they stole $150 from a single mom just trying to survive. Went to get tires mounted and balanced on some wheels which took 2 hours. Charged $70 for the pair. How can you possibly take 2 hours to do so. Anyways, called again to see how much it would be to mount and balance A/T tires on 15in wheels and the lady that picked up the phone gave attitude quoted $50 per wheel. Went to big box store (five letter black red and yellow colors) in Niles and they did it for $25 AND changed the valve stem. I usually like dealing with small businesses but if they run a clown show then no way will I spend my time and money there. read more

I'm also a 20-something-year-old woman and was worried that I was going to be overcharged, but even before they knew that I had knowledge about cars they treated me very well. The repair took two days, so Eric even went out of his way and drove me to and from my house since I didn't have a ride (I later found out that this is actually something he does for a lot of his customers)! I have been going to them for over 5 years with 2 different cars, and I have friends who use them now too. Very personal service. I have had bad experiences with mechanics in the past, I am sure everyone has. Especially being a young woman, other places are always so condescending or trying to rip me off. The battery in my mother's car appeared dead. AAA confirmed that the problem was a dead battery, but they did not have the battery my mom needed in stock. I needed a new set of "All-Season" tires mounted on my car for New Years Eve. Called on 12/30/15 late afternoon to inquire if they would be able to mount my new tires. While they wouldn't take an appointment, I was assured that if I was to show up promptly at 7:00 am on 12/31/15 they would do their best to accommodate. I arrived at 7:01 am on 12/31/15 and not only were they open (as advertised), they were ready for business (good sign). My tires were mounted (properly) and I was ready to leave by 8:00 am. I would also like to note that there was a steady flow of customers, (some regular/repeat-another good sign) none seemed agitated and the work in the garage seem to flow. TIP: 1st timers to check in to YELP are provided with a $20 coupon for service with $50+ in service. I used it and received no hassle. I will definitely will come back. Very Professional Garage. I'd give zero stars if I could. Took advantage of our 17 year old while my husband and I were out of town. Still so angry, not sure about legal action. Boy calls his dad to say that on the way home from his summer job, the car's check oil light came on. Dad says not to worry, take it to our local autotech (to get the oil changed), they will take care of you. Boy, were we right....they took him...Victor or Julio proceeded to tell son that the oil pan is leaking (new oil pan gasket, but fail to mention $200 labor costs), as well as needing complete rear strut replacement. Made it seem as if the car wasn't safe to drive anywhere without all this work and further 'sold it' by stating that they were 'only open for two more hours' (just enough time to fix). Again, no monetary estimate given (kid didn't know his rights, nor understand that shock and strut repair can be upwards of 300-700 dollars and usually aren't scheduled on a emergency basis). Basically scared and pressured him into paying $775.00 for a $40.00 oil change. Oh yeah, and as a customer appreciation gift, provided my son with cheap bottle of champagne and a $1 lotto card...kid didn't turn 18 for 3 days. He now has many more hours of manual labor at minimum wage just to pay off this debt...lesson learned. Run run run away from these predatory auto service 'professionals', what they did was not right. read more

What a wonderful auto shop with employees that really care. I was on the highway 30 miles from home when a weird sound started under the car shortly followed by a dragging noise. It was very disturbing and we pulled off the highway and went on Yelp to find the closest auto shop. We were very lucky to find this place. We were told to come in right away that they'd fit us in between appointments. Turns out the BMW dealer hadn't replace the front engine cover after an oil change which cause the rear under carriage cover to be blown off by wind when driving. It was dragging and mangled. I called BMW and the mechanic spoke to them and I hope to get this resolved with them. Meanwhile, I can't say enough good things about everyone in this shop. I wish it was closer to where I live. I've used Autotech for my car twice now and both times in been satisfied with the experience. I've had oil changes done twice but also my tires rotated, my belts checked and a new battery and air filter put in. I was contacted promptly about what need to be done and they didn't try to sell me on anything that I didn't need. They are also opened on Saturdays, which is much more convenient for my family than weekdays. Update: AutoTech has been doing great work on my wife's and my car for 4 years now. Pricing is reasonable, service is great, and repairs are done right the first time. I'm very appreciative that they have Saturday hours.
