Chose Fairlane to get our 96 Chevy Impala fixed up and ready to sell. We have used them in the past for repairs and been very happy. Steve and his team's passion came through early on. His knowledge and hard work got the car in great shape. My wife and I were very impressed with the work, service and value. We additionally authorized Steve to sell the car on our behalf. His knowledge of the industry again was a huge asset. What was even more impressive was his honesty and fairness throughout the process. No need for any contracts or deals in writing. Steve's handshake agreement is solid as he's a man of his word. Will used Fairlane for all auto needs. Highly recommend. 5 star+ read more

Thorough inspection and fixing. Our 2005 Excursion lost brakes. We called them up and they took on quite a task. Not all shops can take in a big vehicle like an Excursion. They took care of all the brake problems, did an oil change, checked tires and fluids. They were quick also for all they had to do. Fairlane is close to home so we like giving business to businesses in the area. They also have the most beautiful old muscles cars they work on. That's really what sold me to take it there. They can fix those, they can get ours up and running. Friendly, informative and great communication. They called when something needed to be done first. That is honestly great. Will not hesitate to go back for other vehicles to get fixed. read more

Great guys that know their stuff. I have an old Jeep that needed some tweaking. Now it's running well.

This shop worked on my 87 Camaro and did a fantastic job. They fixed what I needed, but they didn't just tear it down and put it back together, they made sure every thing was put together right. If it was out and needed fixed, they did it. It was put back together very clean, with no bolt left unscrewed. I will 100% be taking my car back to them. read more

Steve & his guys are amazing! They found the problem that another place missed. They are trust worthy and reliable, I'll never take my car anywhere else. read more

What a great automotive repair shop. Steve and his crew are top notch! I brought in my classic car with brake problems. Steve showed me options and pointed out the important items to fix since I had a long list. He called, was upfront on what the repairs would cost and stayed within budget. If it's your everyday car or an older classic this shop is for you! I'll be back and you now have a loyal customer, thanks Fairlane. read more

Steve and Fairlane Automotive provide excellent service at a fair price. The business is professionally run with attention to detail. While there are many places I could take my car for service, I choose Fairlane and recommend other Yelpers do the same. read more

Title - Steve is fantastic, see him What did I like? Steve is the store owner and I was referred to him by another one of his clients while in a physical therapy course. It's pretty clear why I was referred because he's very kind & has a positive spirit. He gave me some advice about my vehicle that lined up to actually what I needed (my family is full of mechanics so I already know what my vehicle needs). I've gone to other auto shops and they try to sucker you into fixing things you don't need. Steve was honest about my situation which is something that's hard to find. What did I dislike - nothing. The mechanics were friendly, they got the job done quickly, and I was able to get an appointment in 15 minutes. Would I recommend? Absolutely. Steve is one of the rare auto mechanics that's actually truthful about your situation. Instead of trying to get you to spend 100-5000 dollars on repairs that you don't actually need. TLDR- Highly recommend! read more

Above and beyond in every way! Fairlane Automotive has very knowledgeable, honest, and all-around helpful good people working here. I brought them a barely running abused and neglected 1966 Dodge and they were able to get the car where it should be while staying in communication with me around different options and decisions. They were very thorough about going through the car without trying to up-sell me on things I didn't need/want to do; they totally got my vision for the car (it's a ratty beast, not a show car), and were able to think along those lines with me. It's a small shop, which is great because the service doesn't feel at all impersonal like it would at some fancy classic car shop, and you can tell they totally love cars/their work. Steve will take my call anytime and answer any questions I might have help me to talk through me next steps for the car. When I called after running out of gas (no working gauges in the car yet) a few miles after leaving their shop, their mechanic Pete didn't hesitate to jump in his truck and come help me out. Unbelievable. It is increasingly hard hard to find great service/people like this in any industry, let alone in an auto shop. For vintage cars, I don't know of another shop that is more competent/thorough. If I needed to, I wouldn't hesitate to take my newer Subaru to them either. read more

If you are like me, you have a deep and abiding fear of having vehicles worked on by repair shops and... the dealer. It's a trust thing really. Most people don't know why their car or truck makes that scraping noise now, and have no idea what the repair should cost. In all reality, the average Joe or Joette will never know if the shop replaced a part, or just screwed something that was loose back in and then charged you $200. But then there are shops like Fairlane Automotive. I don't say this lightly, but honesty is one of their core values. Steve the proprietor will tell you straight what is wrong, and help you figure out the best solution. He recently straightened out a car for me that ran very poorly, chronically overheated and was generally unreliable. This show car used to be seen more often on the back of tow truck than making it's own way down the street. Steve worked through several major issues, letting me know the associated costs with each problem, and got it all done within the agreed timeline. So if you are battling an older car, it's very much worth the short drive if you live in the Northwest area. But it's worth it if you are a 60618'er like me to make a quick drive out there... Good service is hard to find and it resides in Niles. Stay classy Fairlane. read more

I've taken my 2005 Dodge Magnum, 2000 Volvo XC 70, 2010 Subaru Forester, and 2013 VW Jetta to Fairlane and always walk away feeling like I've been told straight up what's wrong with the car right now and what can be fixed a little later down the road. My budget is not unlimited so I truly appreciate knowing what will get me back on the road right now and what can wait a few months or a year or more. The shop is not just for "vintage" cars so I feel comfortable taking any make or model to them. Are you thinking of going to the dealer? Give them a try and I think you'll be happy, I certainly am. read more

High praise for the crew at Fairlane Automotive. These guys fixed an electrical issue on an antique Rambler coupe in short order. (As an aside, I am a "car guy" and have done everything from welding in a floor to a custom engine swap. However, I know my limitations and run screaming from electrical problems.) Rather than attempt repair upon the AMC charging system with hours of service time and sketchy performance even when new, they swapped in a GM alternator. It was quickly completed and was a great improvement to the electrical system. Saved a considerable amount of time and money than repairing the substandard AMC system. As an added kudo to this shop: there was a wait list. Nonetheless, they were understanding of our son's desire to use the car for Senior Prom. They fit it in and he was a happy, happy guy when he took the old car to Prom. We have two antique hot rods. They will definitely go to Fairlane for things I do not wish to repair myself. They are first-rate mechanics and honest business people. read more

Quick, Efficient, Quality, Thorough Jason and Pete did an awesome job fixing my "new 383 engine" that Fast Times poorly built for me. In short, it was built with one wrong length pushrod out of 16 that caused major issues. To explain what they had to do to fix it would take a page to explain. You can tell they genuinely love working on cars and it's not just a job for them. read more

This place is great. Steve is honest, and they stand behind their work. they also work on older cars, which most places wont. I even take my small engine stuff to them. way WAY cheaper than a dealer. not only do they work on cars during the day, its their hobby after work as well. those are the types of guys I want working on my cars. read more

After getting talked into faulty service by the Midas at Howard and Western when I went there with a Groupon, I finally took my car to Fairlane which had been recommended by a friend. That's what I should have done in the first place - unless you know a lot about repair work, you should never go to a shop unless it has been recommended! Fairlane took apart the car to inspect the brake job Midas had done, they were honest about what body work they could do and called around to different places to locate the cheapest parts. They fixed a leak Midas noted but didn't do anything about and only charged me $20 for the patch, nothing for their time and service. I am definitely going back, it is worth the extra time to get there to have work done by someone you can trust, thanks guys :) read more

I have taken my cars to plenty of dealerships and shops over the years and always paid double for what needed to be done. Fairlane automotive was the answer all along and the reason my overpaying streak came to an end. Steve, the owner and my friend, is the definition of a hard worker! He takes really good care of me and goes above and beyond the call of duty to get the job done beyond perfection with his amazing knowledge! He will give you his honest opinion on what is really necessary to be done on your car and most importantly, at a resonable price. You will thank me once you meet Steve and check out Fairlane Automotive for yourself! read more

These are the most honest, hardworking guys I've come across in the automotive repair industry.
