Thorough inspection and fixing. Our 2005 Excursion lost brakes. We called them up and they took on quite a task. Not all shops can take in a big vehicle like an Excursion. They took care of all the brake problems, did an oil change, checked tires and fluids. They were quick also for all they had to do. Fairlane is close to home so we like giving business to businesses in the area. They also have the most beautiful old muscles cars they work on. That's really what sold me to take it there. They can fix those, they can get ours up and running. Friendly, informative and great communication. They called when something needed to be done first. That is honestly great. This shop worked on my 87 Camaro and did a fantastic job. They fixed what I needed, but they didn't just tear it down and put it back together, they made sure every thing was put together right. Title - Steve is fantastic, see him What did I like? Steve is the store owner and I was referred to him by another one of his clients while in a physical therapy course. It's pretty clear why I was referred because he's very kind & has a positive spirit. He gave me some advice about my vehicle that lined up to actually what I needed (my family is full of mechanics so I already know what my vehicle needs). I've gone to other auto shops and they try to sucker you into fixing things you don't need. Steve was honest about my situation which is something that's hard to find. What did I dislike - nothing. The mechanics were friendly, they got the job done quickly, and I was able to get an appointment in 15 minutes. Would I recommend? Absolutely. Steve is one of the rare auto mechanics that's actually truthful about your situation. Instead of trying to get you to spend 100-5000 dollars on repairs that you don't actually need. Above and beyond in every way! Fairlane Automotive has very knowledgeable, honest, and all-around helpful good people working here. I brought them a barely running abused and neglected 1966 Dodge and they were able to get the car where it should be while staying in communication with me around different options and decisions. They were very thorough about going through the car without trying to up-sell me on things I didn't need/want to do; they totally got my vision for the car (it's a ratty beast, not a show car), and were able to think along those lines with me. It's a small shop, which is great because the service doesn't feel at all impersonal like it would at some fancy classic car shop, and you can tell they totally love cars/their work. Steve will take my call anytime and answer any questions I might have help me to talk through me next steps for the car. When I called after running out of gas (no working gauges in the car yet) a few miles after leaving their shop, their mechanic Pete didn't hesitate to jump in his truck and come help me out. Unbelievable. It is increasingly hard hard to find great service/people like this in any industry, let alone in an auto shop. For vintage cars, I don't know of another shop that is more competent/thorough. If I needed to, I wouldn't hesitate to take my newer Subaru to them either. read more

I've taken my 2005 Dodge Magnum, 2000 Volvo XC 70, 2010 Subaru Forester, and 2013 VW Jetta to Fairlane and always walk away feeling like I've been told straight up what's wrong with the car right now and what can be fixed a little later down the road. High praise for the crew at Fairlane Automotive. These guys fixed an electrical issue on an antique Rambler coupe in short order. (As an aside, I am a "car guy" and have done everything from welding in a floor to a custom engine swap. However, I know my limitations and run screaming from electrical problems.) Rather than attempt repair upon the AMC charging system with hours of service time and sketchy performance even when new, they swapped in a GM alternator. It was quickly completed and was a great improvement to the electrical system. Saved a considerable amount of time and money than repairing the substandard AMC system. As an added kudo to this shop: there was a wait list. Nonetheless,they were understanding of our son's desire to use the car for Senior Prom. They fit it in and he was a happy, happy guy when he took the old car to Prom. We have two antique hot rods. They will definitely go to Fairlane for things I do not wish to repair myself. After getting talked into faulty service by the Midas at Howard and Western when I went there with a Groupon, I finally took my car to Fairlane which had been recommended by a friend. That's what I should have done in the first place - unless you know a lot about repair work, you should never go to a shop unless it has been recommended! Fairlane took apart the car to inspect the brake job Midas had done, they were honest about what body work they could do and called around to different places to locate the cheapest parts. They fixed a leak Midas noted but didn't do anything about and only charged me $20 for the patch, nothing for their time and service.
