I was trying to find a way to go there without having to drive so far just for food. I live an hour away from them, so the travel time is what makes going there a deal breaker consistently. It's worth going to East Hampton generally, but it should be a day thing. Not just to go eat. The person who helped us was very knowledgable and asked good questions in terms of what you'd like for your platter. The food was top quality. Our platters were worth every bit of that gift certificate and I'd love to come around this place again! I also had to buy their sauce on the way back home because we use it for some dinners. My only critiques is regarding the mac and cheese. I wish it was more of a homemade baked mac and cheese with the toasted top. But definitely good mac and cheese nonetheless. The mashed sweet potatoes were definitely too seasoned with all spice. It gave it too much of a kick than I was expecting. I liked the seating inside and outside. If we didn't have bad allergies, would've probably sat outside and enjoyed our meal. Also, this place has their own parking area. So that's definitely a plus!

I got ribs, brisket, BBQ chicken, mac and cheese, and mashed potatoes. I also got an order of the little gem salad. The ribs were some of the best I've had in years. Very juicy, excellent smoky flavor. Tender, perfectly cooked. Brisket was okay when it was warm, but after cooling off a little bit, it got very dry. I'm not a big fan of brisket in general because of how dry and hard the texture can get, but this is okay while fresh. The BBQ sauce on the side helped, but I probably wouldn't get it again here. The BBQ chicken was the most disappointing - just shredded chicken smothered in a ton of sauce. It was very dry, like sticks of matches drowning in sauce. Mashed potatoes were very buttery and delicious, but also retained some chunkiness and skin too, which I really liked. Very flavorful and decadent. Mac and cheese was very good as well, but not the toasty top kind. Still very cheesy and good, like they used real cheese. Cornbread was a surprise hit - very moist and soft, denser than most cornbreads, and a lot sweeter than most cornbreads I've had at BBQ places. It tasted more like a dessert corn cake, which I didn't mind at all. The little gem salad tasted very fresh. Dressing was just okay, and the salmon we got on top was very stinky and did not taste fresh. The skin had a nice crunch to it though. I wish the fish had been fresher. The greens were great, so I might just get it with chicken next time, or something else if they would allow that. Overall, really great food! I would definitely go back here again. It's been a while since I've been to a BBQ place that has really good smokey char flavor without tasting burnt, while still retaining juiciness (in the ribs anyway). I'd highly recommend the ribs, mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, salad, and cornbread. I want to try some other items as well. Very friendly service too.

I can't hate. I feel people are too critical on the quality of their experience at McDonalds. I…read morehave to admit I played a trick on my co-workers one McRib season (yes, I consider it it's own season). I told them the epic tale of the ever elusive, ever exclusive, ever intrusive...Mc friggin RIB. How it breaks the mold of what you THINK YOU KNOW about Ronald McDonald, Ray Crock, and Dick & Mac McDonald's vision of what a burger joint menu should include. This smokey pressed pork patty is cooked to perfection. Im no barbecue pit master, but some have speculated that McD's uses a secret method of cooking pork ribs so tender for their sandwiches that you can actually eat the bones if the little racks of ribs!!! Others say its a formed pork abomination. But I digress....the meat of the sandwich is blanketed with sweet and spicy signature bbq sauce, topped with raw white onions and tangy pickles. Whew. Are we done yet? NOPE! It's all placed between a cornmeal dusted (because why not?) elongated grinder style bun. This miracle of culinary perfection is delivered to you in a fancy cardboard treasure chest, boxed up like a limited edition gift from the Gods. The restaurant itself was very clean and the manager working the counter noticed my excitement while I ordered 6 McRibs for myself and the rest of the office, and shared my enthusiasm. He hoped my coworkers were as enthusiastic about the sandwiches as I was! I arrived back at the office and doled out the goodies. I grabbed extra napkins because a good sandwich IS a messy sandwich, and handed them out as well. Everyone took a bite....I waited...and watched....and smiled....and waited. Even to the most seasoned McDonalder, the McRib is a new flavor profile and some would say a borderline "acquired taste". It's not for everybody. It was not for them. But this story DOES have a happy ending. This variable was calculated ahead of time and everyone willing volunteered to pay for their OWN lunch, so my sinister plan came to a close. One by one my office mates slowly got up and placed their bite-missing McRibs on the table in front of me. I was the richest man in the world. McRib MCRICH!!! Bwooohahahaha

Did I know what I was getting into when I stopped for lunch in Craryville?…read more No. Sometimes you're on a road trip and you need to stop to eat. Often, these meals are nothing special - just fuel for the trip. But sometimes you get lucky. We stopped because we were hungry and because the map said there was a place to eat just off the Taconic. Right off the exit we were greeted by an old-school stainless steel diner that looked well-maintained and inviting. At this point, my expectations for the stop had already been exceeded. Inside, we learned that this was an old Silk City Diner from 1958, and the decor reflected this history. We took a comfortable booth by a window. Service was friendly. One of the day's specials was fried scallops. Now, many people might think an old roadside diner that's 100 miles from the ocean might not be a good place to order seafood, but I had a feeling I was making a good choice. I didn't even ask the waitress how the scallops were - I just ordered. The scallops were perfectly cooked, enjoyable to eat, and exceeded my expectations. They came with fries, gravy, and broccoli, which were all fine (but nothing special). It wasn't all perfect. The coffee was weak, and it didn't seem like all the food met the level of the scallops. But for a random rest stop it was fantastic. Will I be planning a trip to Craryville just to go to the Martindale Chief Diner? Probably not. But would I stop in if I was traveling through this area again? Absolutely.

It seems like the drive thru line is always veerrrryyy long. I just walk inside. Why idle my engine for twenty minutes (or whatever) to pick up a meal. Inside I'm usually first or second in line and have my food in minutes. The entrance situation on this building is odd. You really can not see it. Located on the side of the building, facing the main road, you have to cross through the drive-thru line of cars (or park on the left side of the building), follow the sidewalk toward the drive-thru, bear left and then look to your left to see the door. We placed a rather large (seven people) on-line order over the summer and they did manage to forget an item, so I get how that process needs to improve at this location. We also got an item that was not 'ours' in that order. Perhaps a case of 'wrong bag' in a busy kitchen? Whatever, the person without a burger was unimpressed as was the person who paid for the sandwich. Figuring out how to stop this madness definitely needs to happen. When we order inside for just a person or two, they do 'get it right'. There are napkins, straws and a couple other items located in an area just past the cashier. Whether you are dining-in, or taking-out, you need to grab your own items from this area. The staff are pleasant even if not the most interactive. Last visit I had their fish value meal. I must say, this fish is good. The outside is surprisingly crispy, you can really taste the cheese on there, nice bun and it was well constructed (as in, everything lined up, my cheese wasn't half off the patty for example). I will definitely get this fish sandwich any day ahead of some other fast food option. Way better texture and taste. I like Wendy's and am glad I have this option. On days I need to 'chew and screw' this is my preferred option.

We enjoy their Portland restaurant, Burger Heaven, so I thought it was time we try these two. Since they are next to each other, I could order Mexican (my first love) and mom could get her pizza. I ordered a carnitas burrito with a small guac and side of house salsa. I wish I took a photo or two. (Sorry). This burrito was huge! Full of juicy, shredded pork, cilantro rice and all the additions. They grilled it so it had a nice little crunch on the outside. I do love a little heat but steered away from the jalapeño salsa this time or adding jalapeños. It wasn't clear if they were fresh or pickled. I only want fresh! lol. But I like that my mom could enjoy their food since there is no spicy unless you add it. Now their guacamole?? Probably one of the best I have ever had. Truly. And I've tried a lot of guac!! I also used to make it at chipotle years ago. Mateo's is Smooth and creamy and they nailed it with the lemon/lime juice. Not too much onion - again I like that. So many places do not add enough. The salsa is as fresh as can be. Again, I need to try some items that would add some heat for me, but otherwise this place is AWESOME!!! Don't hesitate to try it yourself. This will be a new frequent go-to for me. Mom hasn't tried her pizza yet but it looks delicious. I will put a review on the pizza place soon enough. Keep up the great work Mateo's.
