Great Breakfast lunch spot by marina in Chester. Amazing truffle fries, sandwiches, baked goods and more. Gonna be part of my morning walk when I visit Chester from now on!

Asked a guy on our impromptu ferry ride where to get a good sandwich and he said, "follow me!" That's how we met Richard and Mario, the charming (with just the right amount of salty humor) pair who own this joint. The fries were piping hot and perfectly salted, the caprese panini had just the right amount of pesto, and the toffee chocolate chip cookie? To die for. They not only make the cookies from scratch... the toffee is homemade too. We're stuffed and happy. A great find before our drive back to NYC. p.s. thanks for the tip, Bob!

We are staying in East Haddam for a wedding. Did lots of research on all the best places to eat while in the area. I must say, we were pretty disappointed, UNTIL FINDING THIS AMAZING PLACE!!!! We are going to rearrange our itinerary so that we can go back here. Everything from the owner Richard to the ambience to the food is an experience you must have when you are in this area. The place was filled with locals, that's how you know it's the best!

They have a great selection of menu items. Their beer, wine & cocktail list was very well rounded. The interior is decorated in a warm eclectic theme. I just grabbed a beer. I settled on a Moroccan lamb over noodles but was surprised when I was served a small soup bowl of stew. It had a 1-2 Tbs of clear celluphane noddles at the bottom. While it was solidly good, It was $14- which I found to be exorbitant for the item & serving size. It didn't even come with bread of any kind. I then ordered a house made pretzel $10- which came in a single braided format 10-12 inches long. It arrived with 2 ramekins of cheese sauce & stone ground mustard. I opted for the mustard. I did not care for the cheese sauce. It was okay but I was definitely not bowled over by it. Overall, I just wasn't too impressed with this place. The service was solidly good. The vibe & interior is solidly good. The food was fine but not great. I felt the prices for the items were just too high. They do have a happy hour with a burger & a beer for $12-? I can't actually remember the exact price). I recommend coming for their happy hour when prices are more reasonable.

There were so many options...a French toast bake with warm syrup, warm apples in syrup, or sugar free syrup. Fresh made biscuits with gravy, or you could opt for the fresh homemade blueberry or strawberry jams, as I did!!! Breakfast standards like scrambled eggs, ham, bacon and sausage, and some of the best breakfast potatoes you'll ever have!! There was also a yogurt and oatmeal station with tons of toppings, fresh made granola, and the best triple clotted yogurt I've ever had! Don't let me forget the mini quiches, salads, or amazing dessert table with fresh baked desserts, as well as croissants, bagels, and mini muffins. This week they also had made to order corned beef hash made by Brian O'Rourke from the old (now closed) O'Rourke's Diner in Middletown. It was so good and even better than I remembered!! Brunch is $22.95 per person for all you can eat, and included coffee, tea, and juice. Cocktails are available for an extra charge. Service was warm and welcoming and the dining room was lovely! There is space to accommodate groups of any size. Do yourself a favor and check this brunch out as soon as you can! It rivals the best brunches along the shoreline.

They have a good amount of outdoor seating to the right of the entrance. Inside is a small bar with about eight seats (didn't count) and several high tops. There is also a loft with more seating overhead. We walked up a few steps to enter the building from the parking lot. I'm not sure if the side entrance also has steps so if you have mobility needs, call ahead to check. We sat at the bar and as it was a hot day, I asked for a water before ordering a drink. The water was refilled several times during our visit without my needing to ask. I really appreciate that! The bartender seems to be the owner from the way he was talking and let us know they have live music two night a week plus some nights they offer a special menu like Prime rib night or dogs eat free night. Yes, besides the kids menu, they have a menu for your pup. The interior is very much a barn, with lots of fun, metal signs and train memorabilia all around. Two TV's were on in the front corners of the room so you may be able to watch your game (golf the day we went) but it's not really set up as a sports bar. There is one fair sized restroom for everyone that is clean and locks with a hook and eye latch. They have a good size drinks menu which includes a variety of cocktails, a selection of draft and bottled beers and wine. The bar has quite a collection of whiskeys and tequila's. A separate menu is available for their pub fare foods. The menu is very well crafted. Lots of chicken options, sandwiches and wraps, burgers, hotdogs and salads. My SO got the spicy chicken sandwich. When asked, our bartender let him know it was spicy, but not too spicy and they have hot sauce behind the bar if he wants more heat. Which of course he did. He enjoyed the sandwich; crispy chicken, tasty sauce, fresh veg and bread. Messy to hold, after using several napkins he finished it off w/his knife and fork. Table ware set on the bar after ordering is in small paper sacks. I went for a burger. The patty is quite large, cooked to order and juicy. Fresh veg on there, soft bread and tasty. I enjoyed this burger and it was large enough I almost couldn't finish it. I opted for a side salad (for an up charge) instead of fries. The salad is a good sized side, the veg were fresh and the dressing is on the side. I did try the fries that came with the chicken sandwich and those are really good fries. Fresh potato, crispy outside, fluffy inside, salted. Really good. This was an excellent stop. Chatted with some friendly locals and the barkeep. Had a beverage. Grabbed a tasty sandwich. We left stuffed and happy. What more could you ask.

There also appears to be extra seating at the back of the restaurant. The menu is small but has plenty of selections, both small and large bites as they call them. Our server, who was very friendly and pleasant as well as the other staff, took our drink orders and let us know what the fish was for the evening. We decided to order the sourdough bread, French onion soup, and two burgers with fries. This is a very relaxed atmosphere, a little in the dark side, and the seating was very tight between tables given the size of the restaurant but we adjusted the table and made it work. The bread arrived hot from the oven with their house butter which I couldn't quite figure out was in it. Almost seemed sweet as if it was a maple syrup base but can't say for sure. The bread was incredible and didn't last long. The French onion soup arrived in a large bowl with a number of crispy croutons and plenty of onions. The soup was very tasty with a little bit of a bit to it. The croutons were a very nice touch as they stayed crispy ti the soup was gone. The burgers arrived hot off the grill with large baskets of very crispy French fries. The burgers were large, cooked medium as requested, with nice slices of Grafton maple smoked cheese, bacon jam. Lettuce, and Dijon mustard. The burgers are very thick and the roll is soft and grilled nicely. The fries, which were right out of the flyer, stayed crispy through the whole meal. There are a couple of steps up into the restaurant so if you have mobility issues it might be a little bit of a challenge. All in all a great little restaurant with incredible food and great service.
