The Cromwell Dairy Queen got the job done, and impressed me more than I imagined! I got the chicken strip basket with country gravy and honey mustard. I had been craving the country gravy, and honestly they hit it out of the park with this one. I loved it, it was super good. The chicken strips and fries were good, the Texas toast tasted like a regular soggy piece of white bread, so it wasn't a highlight, but I didn't have high expectations for it nor did I get the chicken basket for the toast. What a comforting feeling knowing the a Dairy Queen right down the road. For me it's the proximity of the DQ to my office. A few weeks I had to escape the ravages of the office for the cool, soothing comforts of a Blizzard. In this case, Heath Bar. As I waited for my Blizzard, I browsed the food menu and a Turkey, Bacon, and Cheddar on a Ciabatta roll had to be added to my order. Ready in a couple more minutes and devoured in the car on my way back to the office. I proudly walked back into the mayhem with my Heath Bar Blizzard in hand. The storefront is still closed due to COVID but the drive through moves surprisingly quickly. I went to grab a couple of blizzards tonight and got through a decently long line in 10 mins or so, which I was happy about. Unfortunately there was a mix-up with one of my orders (an order for a plain Oreo blizzard was mistaken and a mint Oreo blizzard was provided) but the manager (Courtney) was quick to solve the problem for me with a sincere smile on her face. Compared to just about every other fast food joint I've ever been to,the Cromwell DQ deserves five stars! I eat here maybe four or five times a year and the place is always clean and the help is always efficient which is amazing seeing that there appears to be a dozen young adults working the counter,the drive thru,the grill or making sundaes! The dining area is kept clean by a rather youthful senior citizen who I believe is the owners mom! We overheard her tell another customer that she was 94 years old!!! The young guy taking orders simply said "we don't have that" in case you are unfamiliar with the peanut butter bash, it is simply a large Sundae layered with peanut butter and hot fudge. Easy to ring in the register even if it is not listed explicitly on the menu. I ordered a small sundae with peanut butter and hot fudge and it was simply not the same. Will not be returning to this DQ. I will drive to a further location to get a peanut butter bash. read more

This DQ has obviously been renovated recently and and it is REALLY nice, both inside and out. The menu screens behind the counter are now digital, digital and the dining area actually looks pretty upscale for your traditional fast food restaurant. They give you an order number card and bring your food to your table. We had an ice cream cone and a hot fudge sundae. Both were great! Food coming out to other tables looked good also. read more

A quick stop to make everything "all better" never hurt anybody. After a tough defeat at a hockey game, we stopped quickly to get a "Grasshopper" Blizzard. Mint chocolate chip is one of my favorite flavors of ice cream however this blend had a consistency that closely resembled ice chips. I'm not certain this is the normal consistency of this flavor Blizzard but it is not one I was a fan of. I was never told by the cashier that I had to wait there. When I spoke up, the ice cream girl (tall blonde teenager) threw out by ice cream. Rather than being sympathetic, she makes me a new cone, but skimped on the ice cream. I know it is a chain and I completely understand that the kids working there absolutely hate their job, but they need to understand if they want hours to pay for their textbooks, then show some sympathy. The 5 or 6 dollar lunch meal deal consists of burger, fries, soda, and ice cream. Instead of a burger you can get chicken fingers or a chicken sandwhich. I opted for the 1/3 pounder burger. For fast food it was good. I do love the shaved ice. My main issue was the fries. There was a very small amount probably around a mcdys small fry maybe even less. Yesterday was my son's 12th birthday so I stopped here on my way home and picked up some sundaes as a birthday treat. First, let me say that the drive-thru was what drew me here. I had a sleeping baby in the back seat of my car and waking her up was not on my to-do list!! Second, I'll say this establishment has the worst drive-thru set up...when the line to get to the speaker is 3 or more cars long it blocks the cars parked in the spots to the right of the line. It was stressful for me to watch someone trying to back out of their parking spot, only to realize that they had no room and nowhere to go. I ordered 1 banana split for the birthday boy and 3 small cups with 1 topping each for my other children and husband. The total came out to $13 and change, which I find pricey for soft serve ice cream but I knew DQ was expensive when I chose to pull in so I can't really complain. The drive-thru attendant was pleasant and quick. My order was prepared correctly, and my son was thrilled about his special treat! This is sad to say or may be an indictment on how simple I am when it comes to food, but this Dairy Queen is actually one of my favorite restaurants. My best friend and I used to go every Saturday for lunch because the restaurant is always clean, the food is always hot and the service is always great. For a chain that is famous for it's ice cream, I think you are shorting yourself if you don't go there for a quick lunch or dinner. Their prices are better than other fast food joints and the quality of their food is way above that of a McDonalds or Burger King. No "Thank you, pull up", just a "Is that all". Fine..... I pull up to the window and he takes my card. Hands me the Blizzards. No tray no bag.
