Alvin Ord's of Bluffton is my favorite sandwich shop of all time, period. The sandwiches are…read moreconsistently, insanely good. The bread they use is similar to an airy pizza crust, and topped with their three blends of cheese that are melted onto the bread before the meats and toppings are added. I've had almost the entire menu over the years, but my favorite is the simple sliced turkey, with lettuce, tomato (which I opt out of sometimes just because I'm not a huge tomato on a sandwich guy, unless it's an actual tomato sandwich...), onion, and then I ask to add their garlic mayo and banana peppers, and sometimes jalapeños. Their turkey club is a second favorite if I'm craving bacon on my sandwich (they also have a jalapeño bacon!). Their other deli sandwiches are great, like the original with a mix of luncheon and other deli meats. I love their lesser known meatball sandwich and cheeseburger. My wife's favorite is the pastrami. The staff at Alvin Ord's are some of the nicest folks I've met in the restaurant industry, and they're always super helpful to new and old customers alike. The vibe of the shop is like a little beachside surf shop, super casual and comfy, with indoor seating at mismatched tables, along with two screened in porches--one that's dog friendly. I can't recommend this place enough. I'd eat here every other day if I could--and that's only because I usually turn my regular sized sandwich into two days of lunch.

It really isn't a turkey club. It's more of a turkey sandwich with the fixings of a club. What I did not like at all was the bread. It totally killed the sandwich for me. It left a bad after taste. I can't really explain it. It just wasn't good. The turkey was ok. For the price of the sandwich though, I would have expected more turkey on it. There is a much better option across the street. Try Downtown Deli. It is superior to this establishment. Again, just my opinion. Try it for your self.

We were in Savannah for my cousin's bachelor party, and there were eight of us. Every meal, a different cousin got to pick where we ate. One afternoon, someone suggested Oakie's because it was close to Tybee Beach. The only thing I had asked all weekend was, "Let's make it a sit-down restaurant." As we pulled into the parking lot, I immediately realized this was a deli--walk up to the counter, order your food, and either take it to go or grab one of the small café-style tables. My cousin walked in first, I followed behind him, and he turned around and looked at me. I just shook my head and said, "Nope... there's nowhere for eight of us to sit. Let's go somewhere else." While everyone debated where to go next, one of my cousins said, "We're wasting time. Let's just grab food here and eat wherever." Best. Decision. We. Made. The. Entire. Trip. I ordered the Turkey Supreme, and while we waited we watched a steady stream of locals and visitors coming in and out. Eventually we all found places to sit and just decided to eat there. Three of us took our first bite, looked at each other, and almost at the same time said, "We're coming back here for breakfast tomorrow before we head home." And that's exactly what we did. We ate here twice in less than 24 hours and couldn't stop talking about how incredible the food was. Fresh ingredients, perfectly made sandwiches, generous portions, and everything was packed with flavor. Sometimes the simplest places end up serving the best food. Oakie's checks every box for what a neighborhood deli should be. Great food, friendly people, quick service, and consistently delicious meals. We've officially found our permanent breakfast, brunch, and lunch spot every time we visit Tybee Island. This place has earned customers for life.

Outside seating space was perfect, with a slight breeze. Noise level low as it's not on a busy street, we enjoyed a peaceful time. Menu is simple but packed with goodies: we had the Smashed Avocado with chips and a dozen wings, Pari Pari was sort of Smokey buffalo and Dank, hard to describe but great taste. Perhaps the bar was set too high to live up to. Their famous sandwhich is the CONQUISTADOR. Featuring chicken with their special sauce. It is not cravevable to me. Today I tried the GODFATHER. I think it may be the CONQUISTADOR with sausage added to it. I find their bread hoagies to be a little dry. It could be much improved if the bread was fresh. The fries are really good. I am thinking that a side of the special sauce for the sandwich would make a great fry dip! Service was really slow today. Drink orders took forever. The two people in our group that ordered a poke bowl were served last when everyone else was about done. You don't have to cook raw fish and vegetables so not sure what happened. They didn't charge for the poke bowls due to the long wait, which was fair. This is an outdoor seating venue, but they have tent covers and an outdoor TV to watch sports games. I enjoy the atmosphere.

Everything is always so fresh and flavorful--you can really taste the quality in every bite. Formica tables, vinyl chairs and booths dot the perimeter. With its location just outside of the Ft. Stewart gate this location gets packed at lunch. They have a drive thru window, too. Customers order at the counter for their custom made sandwich. Plenty of fresh toppings to choose from, an array of chips, drinks and an assortment of cheeses and meats, too. My go to has always been the American Army or Italian Battalion sandwiches. Today's American Army was as yummy as I always remembered with turkey, ham, roast beef, cheese and all the veggie & condiment toppings, too. Once upon a time my family would stop here for their family size subs, party cut to take to the July 4th evening celebration on Ft. Stewart. We'd picnic, listen to the band and enjoy the fireworks! Thanks for the great sandwich and the fun walk down memory lane!

This establishment has been on the decline for awhile now …read more.. To start we entered and walked up to the self order kiosk as there was no employee at the main counter. No big deal for the most part until it came time to pay for our order. The card reader at this kiosk was not working properly and declining any card we attempted to use so we proceeded to the main counter. As we are standing there, no less than four employees looked right at us, said nothing, did nothing and went back to whatever task they were doing. One young lady even walked by us and when we inquired as to getting assistance she kept walking and without missing a beat only said "I'm on break" and kept walking away. After a couple minutes of me leaning over the counter and asking for assistance we were still met with silence. Shortly after an employee came in from delivering an order to a drive thru car that had to "pull up and wait", she assisted us at the counter. We were then able to pay for our order, clean off our own table (as they were all dirty) and wait for our food. The state of cleanliness of this particular establishment is nothing less the absolutely disgusting. (See pictures) IMO if the health department ever came to inspect this place, there is no doubt in my mind that it would get shut down ... We will not be visiting this place again anytime soon.
