I stopped by Family Delicatessen on a Saturday and ordered the Green Goddess, a vegetarian option with hummus, avocado, apple, and lots of veggies. I will give them credit: they did not skimp on the veggies! However, there was not a whole lot of hummus or avocado so it kind of just tasted like eating veggies on a piece of baguette. A very good piece of baguette, to be fair, but I just wish there had been a little more flavor. The deli itself is very cute with lots of imported Italian foods, like unique pastas and sauces. Service was speedy and super friendly. I definitely need to go back to give them another chance!

I also enjoyed their shadow box tables for dining in - it was entertaining to look at the old news paper clippings while I waiting for my food. I always am leery of saran wrapped cookies that are out on display because its impossible to know if there are actually fresh. The giant stacks of cookies were too enticing to pass up on. The chocolate cookie we purchased was definitely not fresh at all. $3.29 down the tubes - lesson on saran wrapped cookies learned (again). Carrot cake whoopie pie and original whoopie pie - both tasty, but the cake was too thick for my personal liking. We sat in the small outdoor seating area to eat.
