Shrinkflation is alive and well at D'Angelo Grilled Sandwiches. A previous reviewer said sandwiches are smaller, but this is ridiculous. I ordered a medium classic veggie. It was loaded with Onions and cheese. As for other items, I think I was able to find 4 tiny bits of mushroom and a similar amount of green pepper. Basically it was an onion sandwich. D'Angelo's used to be a great place for lunch. It's not worth $16 for a sandwich, drink and cookie. They should really rename it to "Classic Onion" versus classic veggie since the veggies are no longer existent. The woman who took my order was rather rude as well. So, D'Angelo is off our list now. read more

I miss D Angelos and go everytime I visit Boston. I went about 30 mins before closing. The employees were very nice and I got my order in and no problem with special requests. My order was already being prepared while I was paying. My order was complete within 5 mins and much better than the Steak and Cheeses we get in Cali. D Angelo needs to open in Cali. They will clean up. It was seasoned nice and the bread was very soft and delicious. Speaking of that the place was very clean and again the employees were friendly. Sometimes if you come right before closing they can get irritated lol. I will be back before I leave for Cali. read more

Just ordered two number 9s as a bogo. At 2 for $14, it's worth it. If not a bogo, NOT worth it. The sandwiches nowadays have about half the fillings as they used to. A bogo is the only way I get Dangelos. read more

I have had to pick up deliveries from here many times and everytime I do Diane is usually there, one of the times I picked up delivery no one said a word to me, I saw the order sitting on the shelf and grabbed it, Diane was quick to get at me by snapping and saying "hey hey hey" I am not a dog. Today I was there picking up a order and she looked me dead in the face and said nothing not a hello, not a how are you. Nothing she just gave me a look of disgust, gave her the name and she replied with "yup" and nothing else, a few minutes later she called me for the order and shoved the bag at me, I took the bag and before I could say anything she was quick with a "yeah you're welcome" I just replied with "have a good day" and she scoffed and replied with "yep whatever" I will not be returning read more

A sandwich chain could skimp on their quality or make it worth the while. Well, D'Angelo's has been around for a long time and knowing their name I have never been disappointed. The sizes are plenty, the ingredients are fresh and delicious. The location is great, not too far away. I got the grilled chicken with fresh vegetables and cheese on top. I got the medium and it was plenty big. Friend got the Thanksgiving toasted. Moist turkey and all the fixings and smiles as to how good it was. made the trip worth while. be going again when we crave a great sandwich. read more

This comes to me as a shock because I am a regular here. I didnt feel like cooking and was in a lot of pain so I decided my favorite sub shop would be perfect. When I didnt see the lady that is usually there that should have been "my sign" but I ordered my food anyways. Halfway through I heard them saying "its stuck and burning" I looked over and could smell it. They finally got it out and out of professionalism I figured they would make a new one but the young girl said "its fine, its fine" and just scraped off the burnt pieces. Now this isnt what upset me, what upset me is they were laughing the entire time about it. Being in pain I didnt want to ask for another one and wait around for another one to be made. I also dont like to bring back food unless its inedible. I saw the lady thats usually there while I checked the sandwhich to see how bad it was burned, but she was on break and I didnt want to bother her. From now on though I am never getting my sandwich toasted again if I do decide to go back at all. read more

I've gotten sandwiches a few times here for myself and sometimes for my whole office. It's the same, you know, D'Angelo's. Not really worthy of a review. Today, though, I needed food at a specific time and wouldn't have time to call for it in advance. When browsing online ordering, I saw that I could actually choose the date and time for delivery. Joy! So this time, I didn't actually visit the store. I ordered online. Yesterday. For delivery @12:45pm today to accompany a business meeting between 2 executives at 1pm. The food came just after noon and the chips were wrong (ordered BBQ got baked - you'd think a phone call for a substitution would happen). More importantly, I ordered A DAY IN ADVANCE to have the food hot and right on time for this meeting. The food is useless to me now. When my execs got here it would have been cold and sitting there. To recap: 2 sandwiches. 2 bags of chips. 4 failures. (The waters were right and still usable.) Also, the driver dumped off my order with the receptionist and left before I could check it, too. I could have, at that point, pointed out how he's early and perhaps gotten a correction in time. I tried called but they asked me to hold and I didn't have time for that. I tossed it out and ran out to Quiznos to pick up similar items for my execs to eat instead (no time to get more D'Angelos and not sure that I would anyway). I got the Quiznos orders back hot and on time. Happy execs! (No thanks to D'Angelos.) I was originally very excited to be able to plan in advance and not have to worry about getting everything last minute. I will not make this mistake again. read more

Visited this place a few times no longer go anymore. The first experience was good, I mean I ordered a sandwich, they cooked it in a reasonable time, didn't drop it and got it to me. However on subsequent visits, I found the food to be not fresh, at peak lunch time no less and the expediting of the kitchen slow. Keeping the place clean is a low priority too, many a table was in need of a cleaning. read more

I was in town for 3 nights at Trade Show down the street. When researching somewhere to eat I found this place has my favorite sandwich THANKSGIVING ON A HERO on the menu every day. I went on day 2 of my trip & got a what they call THANKSGIVING TOASTED, regular size to go. After one bite I knew I had to go back next day. This was probably the best sandwich I have ever had. I went back the next day & switched to small size & again, great sandwich. Very nice people & good service too. Wish there was a location closer to my home area of NJ. read more

I work very close to this place..and thank God I do - I'm very new to Mass...and I have been overdosing off of the lobster sandwiches....delish. A little expensive, but worth every penny!!!! Slow, but funny to watch the employees fumble around like clowns. Not as clean as I like and man could they use a makeover. All the vinyl seats in the booths had numerous black duct tape repairs. Food was up to standard, their steak and cheese is always good. read more

It's D'angelos. You know what to expect. The only reason I'm even writing a review is to provide a tip for others. I placed an in the morning order on-line for pick up at 2:30. Received my confirmation email. Showed up at 2:30 to pick up my sandwich. It wasn't ready. No big deal. Except the woman yells from the back "you need to give us an hour at least before you just show up." Excuse me? Just show up? I placed an order. Showed them my confirmation e-mail stamped at 10:58 am. The guy looks at me and says "Do you want us to make it even though the ticket didn't print out?" It is what it is but if you place an order on-line I'd suggest giving them a call to make sure they received it. read more

One cheerful person took the order of the two people in front of us. One cheerful person said they'd be right with us. Then one cheerful person took our order. Then one cheerful person made our sandwiches and had them ready in five minutes. They were delicious. What is amazing is that all these cheerful people were the same person. He was left working there all by himself doing everything and yet keeping customers happy. A genuine smile and honestly trying your best goes a long way. read more

I'm not really sure what it is about this shop. I think it's a combination of the kind of people behind the counter, the service, and the food. Don't get me wrong the food is great but well over-priced. I just enjoy going in there and talking amongst most of the young men that work there. You can tell they work very hard but always manage to be polite and friendly with customers. There is one erk I have with them though. I find it strange how usually in the evening there's much less people working. You would think dinner would be more staffed. That's really my only tiff. The only reason I bring this up is because I've worked in food service for over 26 years and completely understand what these guys are going thru. People expect Dangelo to be fast food but it's not. They actually cook the food to order. It's not like Subway, or Panera bread for that matter. Usually it's two employees cooking and taking orders; of course it's going to take time. All they want to do is make a sandwich you will be satisfied with. Many people these days seem to be very impatient and would rather complain about time and get a lack-luster sandwich than just wait for quality. It just makes me upset to see these guys get a bad wrap (no pun intended) for the work they do. They serve you as they would themselves. Sure it may not be perfect, but it's because of the time constraints. If anything I would say the manager and team do a superb job! I've been going to D'Angelo's, since Its inception, and they've had Many High's & A very Few Low's, but folks who complain deeply, need to remember that after all, Its A Sandwich Shoppe and Not A Five Star Restaurant, if your not happy/content than make your own damn sandwich period, end of story~Enjoy! read more
