I just discovered an app called Too Good to Go. The premise is for businesses to sell perfectly good items that had not sold during the business day at a deep discount in an effort to help the environment, community and reduce food waste. The caveat is you don't choose the items. You just get what hadn't been sold during the business day, what you end up with is a "Surprise" bag. I absolutely loved this idea and quickly jumped on board. I located a deal I was curious about at Subworks. My "Surprise " bag was advertised at a value of $16 however it would only cost me $4.99. What, wait? I am so in! I excitedly scheduled my pickup. Well, clearly the joke was on me. My "Surprise" bag included 3 double chocolate chips Otis Spunkmeyer muffins- which normally sell for a dollar each and 2 Kaiser rolls which again normally sell for a dollar each. Ridiculous! What happened to the $16 value????? This was not what I bargained for. Had a known I would have used my $5 on $5 worth of items of my own choosing. Needless to say I will not be returning to Subworks on Inman Ave in Edison. And frankly this experience left such a bad impression on me that right now I can't imagine using Too Good to Go app to try anywhere else. For the record, the only reason I didn't rate a 1 is because to their credit, the place appeared exceptionally clean and the lovely young lady behind the counter was quite pleasant. However neither of those 2 reasons will bring me back to this business. read more

I was hungry and drove around the town and found this sub shop in a plaza. They have a tv for you to watch sports or whatever they have on at the time. The staff: The staff here is friendly and has patience with the customers. They smile, talk, and joke around with their customers. Cleanliness: This sub shop is clean with no garbage on the floors, counters, or on the tables. Prices: The prices at this sub shop are fairly decent that range from $6.99 and up for a half sub. Ham & Cheese: The bread is soft, and the American cheese is good. However, the ham is a little too salty for me. Chicken Parm: The chicken is soft topped off with the marinara sauce. The cheese is melted on top of the chicken. Chicken cheesesteak: They make the best chicken cheesesteak here and is by far one of the best that I have ever tried. The chicken is cooked to perfection with the onions and green peppers. The melted Swiss cheese and ketchup makes this sub even better. Honey turkey: The honey turkey sub is made to perfection. The bread is soft, the honey turkey is delicious and when it is topped off with lettuce, tomato, mayo and banana peppers. Mac Salad: The mac salad is good and does not taste salty or anything. Overall: This is one of the best sub shops in Edison, and I have made this sub shop my weekly routine for lunch. I will most likely keep coming here and try out the other subs and menu items. read more

Got roast beef & cheese and the #4 Super Subworks. I regularly go to the Subworks in Colonia on St George and I'm very disappointed in this place. Easily HALF the roast beef that I get from Colonia. Bread and veggies were fine but severely cheap on the roast beef. Yes, they charge $11.69 here vs $12.49 at the Colonia store but that does not excuse the small amount they put on. Surprisingly, the #4 Super was very good. It seemed the amount of meat & cheese was good. read more

Sub-works has the most fresh ingredients; they don't use bagged greens or vegetables like other sub shops. They also have a lot of different cheeses, toppings and sauces to chose from! If you like a little crunch, ask them to toast the bread "panini style"! read more

A nice sub shop by the driving range. Probably drove by a million times but happy we finally stopped in. 1 Turkey Sub about 18", 2 half subs about 9" each = $23. Subs were good and the bread they were on was delicious. Funny how bread can make or break a sub. This was a nice find and one that we will consider again in the future. read more

Hands down my favorite place in NJ for subs :) I have been going here for the past 2+ years and actually b/c they are so good, I have swore of ever eating Subway again w/ 100% success! I always get the Club and my boyfriend switches it up now and again with the cold cuts. One of their claims to fame for me, is there SOFT whole wheat bread. It is not hard and dried out like you get at Subway, it is just the right amount of softness that holds up well to my mayo & vinegar dressings! They even have pickle slices to go on your samich, which believe it or not is hard to find at your local Midtown NYC deli. read more

I drive past daily, and decided to try it out, and the sandwiches are pretty good . I had a basic ham turkey and cheese the first visit, and an egg salad sandwich the second time. Everything is fresh, and what really makes the sandwich is the bread. The bread is awesome! The price may appear on the high side, but the size and quality of what you get evens out. read more

Got a tuna wrap, there was barely any tuna on it. The wrap was cold, not cut all the way through, and very poorly wrapped. Got a pickle, not even cut. I feel I have to go to bat for this place after seeing so many ridiculous reviews. First off, I live down the street so while it may appear that I am biased, this place really rocks. I have no idea what people are getting here but the sub works special with proscuittotini (sp?) and the cheesesteak are fantastic. I never mess with anything else so I wouldn't know but the bread is fantastic and goes well with those two sandwiches. And at the end of the day, it's a locally owned deli so there may be inconsistencies but if you want a consistently bland product, go to Blimpie of Subways. It's cranked out by machines and tastes like it. If you want satisfying deli sandwiches, this place hits the spot. read more

I usually get my subs from the one on St georges but since this was closer to my house and recommended to me by a friend - i decide to try it out. Horrible customer service. The person making my sub was not responsive at all - felt like he was high. I got a cheese sub and the cheese slices were extremely thin. Stingy! If you want a side of puss face and attitude with your sandwich, go here. The sandwiches, when made by the grumpy tall guy are gonna be made with less everything. I ordered a turkey & swiss and it felt like a bread and lettuce. If the main guy Jay (I think that's his name) is there the sandwich will be good. The owners should take notice that their employees with bad attitudes and service are keeping them from getting more business. I, for sure, will not be back. read more

We have been going to the location in Colonia for over a year. Decided to try Edison since it is a little closer to home. Never again! They use more lunch meat at Subway. 1 guy working and there were 6 customers waiting. Colonia always has at least 3 to 4 employees working. We'll be going back to that location. Edison proved to be a HUGE disapointment. Not sure what the owner is trying to prove, but their money saving technique has cost at least this customer to never go back. read more
