ZERO Stars if I could do. Worst service ever. Unfortunately we got stuck with them beacause we purchased our RO system from costco. First, the only way you can order the replacement filters is by calling them. And bad luck if it is their lunch time. The receptionist will "assure" you that you will get a call back but guess what NO ONE cares to call. I placed my order a week back, was "assured" that filters will be delivered thsi week. After the entire promised time passed, I called up only to find out that they shipped my order to someone else. And I would never know unless I call them back and let them figure out the mess. My hard well water had tested positive for arsenic. I had installed a filter, but saw Success at Costco so hired them hoping for better filtering. Their salesman told me their company could eliminate all arsenic. They installed a water softener. I needed filtering, not softening (and there are other companies I would have bought a softener from)...it was too late to back out. I tried! They said the softener would filter the arsenic out, but then installed three small filters under my kitchen sink (for more money, of course, I was so stupid). All filters were extremely expensive then, but I was stuck. They have doubled several times. Today I took in one of the "cheaper" filters,...were about $50 (the main filter is around $1000) ....she told me $100 so I paid. I gave her the $$ and she returned to tell me it was now $200! She works for them, but didn't know the filters had doubled yet again?? I already had stories about the lies Success's salesman sold me years ago when I stupidly bought their softener (water filter?). I have been too lazy to share, I fear, about their poor (but expensive) service. I just wrote a long one for BB, and hope to find other places. I still wonder if a softener will filter out arsenic. Should have investigated, even though I owed them for their softener. DO NOT deal with this company. They will lie and install something different than what was discussed and then bleed you for the filters. Their "service man" (who they tell you must come by for service) is always six months away from an appointment. I had a water filter and had been wanting to upgrade. They just installed a softener and told me the water softener would also filter....so no need to put in a filter. I tried to argue to no avail. I would have shopped around for softener companies.... water still tests over the state limit plus their filters are astronomical. DO NOT fall for their lies!! Shop around and find something that does not require way over a $1000 to change your 3 small filters. This is highway robbery without a jail sentence. Plus, if and when you go to their office in Brentwood, you will be left waiting, then will be told, "Oh, I'm sorry, that filter I told just you was now $100 is actually $200...(this is one of the "cheaper filters," the main filter is closer to a $1000.) You kind of wonder how someone who works there could make that big a mistake. Do not wonder. Stay as far away from this company as you can and get your soft water from anyone else. These people can be trusted...for sure....trusted to lie and steal your money. Be sure to ask to get your needs in writing (no bait and switch) and FIND OUT price for the filters!!! I live in Campbell and we have pretty horrible tap water. It's hard as a rock and tastes like used dish water. I got the water softener and RO system from Success Water/ECOWater with the Costco kickback. The system is actually good. The quality and taste of the water from this is actually excellent and the hardness of the water is down significantly. I still see significant scaling on the faucets and glass, but it's nothing like it was before. The issue is the price. The system is EXPENSIVE to install and even worse to maintain. Expect a $4000 bill to install both the softener and the RO system. Replacement filters (if you DIY and order online) cost about $200-400 per year. Expect an additional $200 fee if you want them to roll a van and have somebody install it. Beyond the pricing is the service. You can't order anything online from these guys (you need to call them). Service appointments are a complete waste of time and money. You can forget about emailing them. They don't bother to read it or respond. So what inspired me to write this? When Success Water installed the RO faucet, they left an enormous hole in the kitchen counter (you could almost drive a car through it). Of course water got in a rotted out the plywood under the countertop. When I called them, they told me that I need to find somebody to fix the plywood before they can send a tech to fix the faucet (another $189 visit fee). I asked for recommendations for somebody to help fix the plywood and Lloyd told me that he's "old school and wouldn't want to recommend anybody who wouldn't fix it correctly". So ironic. OMG. All in, if you want the best tasting water and money is no object, these guys will do a decent job. But if you want value, keep looking. There are better products for a lot less money. read more

Honest review here. TL;DR at bottom. I chose Success Water System because of Costco. I reached out to multiple companies, did my DD, and price-wise, Success costs more than average but the Costco perks drew me in. They are responsive but with a lot of phone tagging. Their first rep was very friendly and personable, seemed like he cared about the product, but brushed off a major concern of mine. I asked on the very first appt, could a mouse get in the unit? He responded with 'if the mouse gets in it'll have to lift the lid and that's unlikely.' That rep also forgot to mention another maintenance detail. Installation: we managed to avoid an install that required a pipe sticking out of my laundry room wall. Install was smooth and quick. The unit was turned on and we got softer water. This system required salt so here's when I find at the bottom of the unit is a dead mouse, with its excrements floating beside it. WTF. I immediately contacted Success, apparently they had an emergency number. Now imagine in my shoes, finding a dead mouse in your water softener unit, the unit that is supposed to supply healthy and clean and soft and safe water to bathe in and drink. This made me very upset. The person on the other line didn't sound like they were concerned and only told me that they notated my issue and will have someone reach out to me the following business day (I called on a weekend). I called again the next business day and explained the situation and still no care in their tone; I'd imagine if it happened to them and their 2 year old is drinking and bathing in the water they'd give more of a damn. At the of that phone call, the rep scheduled the appointment for the tech to come over and then said " the service fee will be... oh wait this will be covered under your warranty." (it was installed a few months ago) More phone tag in confirming the service appointment, and again on the day of service. I received a call from L__ in the morning about an hour before their serviceman arrived, to let me know ONE thing, and that was that the job today WILL be covered under warranty. I had her clarify that I won't be paying anything and she said I didn't need to. Received another phone call from L__ but this time she sounded shaky and uncertain, speaking slowly as if she was thinking of what to say as she spoke, as if a manager was forcing her to make the call back to correct her misspeaking. She told me that there will be a service fee of $189 and that depending on what the serviceman finds, may or may not be covered by warranty. Red flag. So you told me 2x on two different occasions that warranty will cover the issue and I didn't need to pay anything, and minutes before my service appointment you called back letting me know I will be paying something? Repair: serviceman says unit is still okay, he didn't even look into it deep enough until I reminded him, and then he grabbed the dead mouse with a large tool. I was concerned about the droppings left behind but he said that these bags will sterilize everything. I took his word for it, the regeneration/sterilization took about 80min but he was only there for about 5min. So he took out the mouse, ripped the two bags open and threw the corners he ripped off onto my driveway/mulch area, threw the contents in the unit and let it run. He said today's visit served as a service day so he set the unit to be serviced again in 12months. I asked him about the costs for service since the rep never told me about these maintenance costs. Apparently it's yearly and the service fee is $189 and the two bags for sterilizing and cleaning is $70. He said he waived the two bags for me today. So I paid the service fee today. I am less confident and not happy in this softener system and business. As for the mouse, the serviceman says it didn't go inside by a lifted lid, but entered through the space in the back of the unit where the tubes run into the wall. He said I'm lucky that the mice didn't bite through wires otherwise I'd have to replace the unit AND warranty would not cover it. He proceeds to show me what he's found in one of his repairs, he shows me a picture on his phone a unit with wiring chewed up. I asked if warranty was able to cover that and he said the owner had to pay for a whole new unit. TL; DR. Success water makes the water softer, but customer service was not good, borderline terrible in my opinion. From their lack of concern about my situation to them misspeaking and withholding important information, I am not a satisfied customer anymore. Know that water softeners are a luxury item, and you'll have to spend a pretty penny for a good system, but you could find better, cheaper, and salt-free systems elsewhere. Edit 4/7/23 Since I can't respond directly to mngr's comment: I agree its out of your hands but if this keeps occurring across several customers, then there's a flaw with your product. We had got a water softener and under the sink osmosis system from the Costco set up. Big mistake. Softener was not functioning properly after only a few years. Tech told us that whatever was in the system was breaking down and plugging up our ice maker in our freezer and what not had tried to sell us the new version which was thousands of dollars. We just told him to turn it off. Our osmosis system was working ok but the filters and the service was very expensive. They charged us extra for the drive out to Vacaville. I don't know why Costco even refers them when they are not even conveniently close by. Anyway we had started to just order the filters over the phone with them. We ordered one time successfully but when it came time we wanted to order again, I called three separate times in the span of two weeks. Each time, a woman would answer and I stated I needed to order filters so she advised she would have to transfer me to the other woman who handled that. I got her voicemail after each transfer. I think by the third attempt I told the first woman who answers the phone that I have been leaving messages for the other person and no one has got back to me. She said she would personally let the other woman know but guess what? NO ONE EVER CALLED ME BACK... that is until MONTHS later when it came up on their record that it was time for us to change filters. I believe the woman who called me back was the same one who first answered the phone all those times. I was irate with her and told her I tried to contact them so many times months ago. She played dumb as if she had never spoken to me before. I said forget it, we don't want their filters anymore! I cannot believe the audacity of this place. You can't even order their stupid filters online and bypass the local offices. We ended up just using a Brita but I will probably end up getting an osmosis system from a local big box hardware as their filters are much more affordable and available. RIDICULOUS. Beware of this scam company! Don't not use them! Thru a friend a install a RO drinking water and water softener system for my old house about 10 year ago. Over the year I had two maintain thru them and it was very expensive, they do some checkup for the system and change the RO filter will charge for like $6 800 for a visit. Few months ago my water softener stop working, I made an appointment to let them check, their appointment are very long, we waited 3 months for them to show up, their worker told us the softener tank are broken, it will need $4000 to repair or $8000 for a new one, and said the repair only cover with one year warranty. Success water has no flexibility with scheduling services if you have an old system. My guess is that if you don't upgrade to a new system, they don't make enough from you to justify preferred service! I typically do not write reviews. This is probably the first one after so many years. I'm compelled to write the review so that someone will not make the same mistake as we did. Stay away if you can !! Honestly, I don't even know if the product works fine or not, hence we requested help from the service department through annual service. We did an annual service recently. Below are my observations/comments: (1) Service department is terrible. I would rather not give any rating but there is no choice for that. They sneak in with so much cost such as $35 trip charge (really technician is coming all the way just for one appointment - it's not like we live in middle of no where !!!), and $135/hr labor charges for a bad technician. I understand a charge for travel since I work in service industry too, but $35 for each appointment....really !!! (2) Technician showed up late for our appointment after giving us a 4 hr window and he didn't even acknowledge that he was late for the appointment. (3) Technician charged me $4 for a towel that he used, the worst part was that the technician did not use a fresh towel (he used many towels that were used previously) and he took the towel back. Technician will probably use the same towel in his next appointment and charge them $4. Considering COVID, there is a high risk of spreading even after paying for it ! (4) Technician checked the water PPM before changing the filters, but he didn't check after the filter change. When I asked him to check the water PPM, he said he can wait and test the water but he needs to charge me another $135 since it takes time for the filter system to get cleaned. If I don't know how the water rating is after the service, then what is the point of having a technician coming in to do the work. Going back to cost - If the company knows that it will take time for the service, then why are you charging customers for that. Possibly I got a bad technician for the service, but reviewing other comments looks like most of them are bad except for 1 or 2. I regret spending more than $1300 to install the filter and deal with these guys now. read more

We recently had our 15 year old water softener system that had broken down replaced with a system from Success water systems. I had checked around in a couple places and decided to go with them because of the Costco connection and the related benefits. Their quote was cheaper than other vendors and when you add the Costco benefits, this was a good deal. The whole process went very smoothly starting from Robert who came in to our house to check the water, provide an overview of their system, placing the order, the install process and the follow up visit to make sure everything was in order. Robert is an amazing sales/BD person person who takes care of the initial sale as well as the post install checkup. Highly recommend all to work with him if you are interested in their products. The installer did a good job installing the softener unit in the garage and the filter unit in the kitchen under the sink. There were couple of issues that I had to reach out to their customer success team lead Danika and she is an amazing person and nice to deal with. I had initially forgotten to add an alkaline filter to the order and there was an issue with the salt sensor in the unit which was showing wrong value even after adding 3 bags of salt. Danika was helpful in taking care of these issues and both were taken care of in the following visit shortly thereafter. Overall, very happy with the install and highly recommend the team. read more

We had Success Water systems install a reverse osmosis system for drinking water in our kitchen, and a water de-scaling system for our house water and are extremely satisfied with the entire process & final results. Lorenzo was our personal representative and he was extremely friendly, professional, and very knowledgeable! He taught my husband and I soooo much and answered all our questions with a smile. The engineer/inspector that worked out the logistics for the install named Rob was very professional & friendly while figuring out our houses existing water system. Oswaldo the installer that did all the physical installation was a true professional and did amazing work. Success Water Systems advertises themselves as one of the best water system companies in the area but their sales team and customer support are the worst. I reached out to Success Water Systems through Costco for a water softener installation. Success Water Systems sent their sales agent to test the water and recommend the water system. After the appointment, the sales agent said that he would provide the installation quote via email in the next day or so. I never got any email from the guy. When I tried calling him, his phone was switched off. I continued calling him for the next 2 days but never got a response from him. I finally reached out to their customer support asking if they can look into it. Soon after the sales agent reached out to me with a quote without providing the reason or apologizing why he was not to provide me the quote sooner. Assuming it as a one-off incident, I went ahead and told the agent to start the paperwork. Since the weekend was approaching, the agent insisted that I should sign the paperwork on a weekend so that my price is locked. I found it odd but still went ahead and signed the contract on the weekend. I live in a community that is governed by HOA, and HOA approval is needed for the water softener installation. I told the agent what all documents (specifically a liability insurance document with HOA as additionally insured ) are needed from Success Water Systems to get approval from the HOA. The agent said confidently that these documents can be easily provided. After his assurance, I signed the contract. I asked the agent to provide me necessary documents as soon as possible. Also, my credit card was charged with the full price of the installation. I didn't hear back from the agent for the next few business days. Finally when he responded he said that Success Water Systems won't be able to provide the documents for installation. He even told me to go ahead with the installation and not get approval from HOA. I insisted that I will not get the installation done without the HOA approval. At that time he said he will reach out to his sales manager and see if he can provide the documents. 10 days went by and I didn't hear from the sales agent. I again reached out to him, asking about the status. He finally replied saying he will check and get back to me. He comes back with the same information - Success Water Systems won't be able to provide the documents for installation. I wasted 10 days to get the same information. He again insisted that I should get the system installed without HOA permission. At this moment, I decided to cancel the contract which I did by calling the customer support and requesting a cancellation. I got my money refunded. For a company that is a vendor of Costco, this is very unprofessional behavior. Even the smaller contractors are easily able to provide the liability insurance document easily and yet Success Water Systems was unwilling to provide one to me. I hope this review helps other people to avoid this company if you are looking for a water softener installation at your place. read more

Short Story: * Slow for maintenance * Way overpriced * Not transparent with costs * Don't Recommend The Whole Story: Sorry the long read... I have Eco Water water softener. Success Water was the original installers of this system 10 years ago. The unit has been working great. However, after this much time, the resin beads in the unit needed replacing. Called Success and setup an appointment. Waited 3 months for them to come. After reading other comments here, seems that if you want a new unit, they come out right away. After talking to them, they tell me installs is are different department than maintenance. So, new customers get the good service and existing take the back seat. The tech came to my house and after testing water and opening the tank, he confirmed that the resin is done and needed to be replaced. This is where things got strange. He recommend a full rebuild of my unit. Quoting $2300. Of course, this is very expensive and I told him I just wanted the resin replaced only. He then quoted me just for the resin replacement $1300. I pointed out the resin itself was under warranty. He was not aware of this and told me to call the main office. Called the main office and originally they were not aware this. I told them that it's in the brochure they included with the receipt they gave me when I purchased the unit. They told me they needed to get back to me. Which they did call me back and confirmed that the resin itself is under warranty. I then ask what the cost would now be. They said $1300 again. I was confused since before they were not aware of the resin warranty. I was expecting that they would discount the resin portion. I expected to just pay of the labor portion. So, how could it be the same price? Well, they tell me that is what they charge for the service. I think asked what is breakdown of parts and labor for this service. They wouldn't give me this information and said they needed to consult the manager. Of course, they didn't call back and stop calling me. Up until then, they were very responsive. Not anymore. A few more things, the tech was against the resin only replacement for $1300. He felt the full rebuild is the way to go. He said if something fails, they will just have fix again. But, I asked about the warranty on the full rebuild. He informs that is only 1 year. Of course, that is not good deal. Why pay $2300 and you might have to pay it again the next year? I asked how much a new one unit would be and he quoted me $5900. Wow. I called a few dealers and closet one to the price was $4200 (and that is high) and others were lower. Keep in mind, the plumbing is already there. So, they would just be swapping out the old unit. Eco Water softeners are okay. But, if buying a new one, I would not buy again for these prices. You can find really good ones with similar features for $2K-$2.5K. Maybe lower. Also, Eco Water will not answer question directly. They just force to talk to a dealer. By the way, to do the resin replacement, Success Water has to take your tank and come back. Taking about a couple of weeks in some cases...he tells me. Every dealer I talk to does in onsite. This means after waiting 3 months for appointment, you'll be without your softner even longer. And, you don't get to see what they are doing to it. Lastly, I finally gave up with them and after bugging Eco Water Corp, they gave me 2 other people to call. I ended up going with another company in the bay area. They came out in 2 days, replaced the resin, activate carbon (my unit is refiner model...Success Water didn't even mention this), and the gravel. All for $575. And, that included materials and travel feel since I'm more than 15 miles from where they are based out of in San Jose/Campbell. Even better, this other company told me they didn't use the full 2 hours to complete the job and only charged me half the hour. And, yes, they did all this within 2 hours onsite and my water softener is working perfectly. Summary: Success Water seems to be over charging for their service. I spent $180 for the tech to confirm what I suspect. Fair enough. But, then that does not go towards fixing the unit. Then their quotes are over the top. The biggest issue is they aren't transparent with the labor and parts. I have never worked with plumber that does not give this information. From what other plumbers tell me, if you can't get this information, run away. It's fine to charge for expertise and specialized tools. But, be transparent with the customer. Tell them parts are this much and this is what we charge for the labor. The only positive was the office staff were very nice on the phone and tech was courteous. They have had my water system in for repair for over 1 and 1/2 months. When I call my rep is never there. I leave a message but no returned calls. Over a month is a little long to fix a switch. I have been a customer for over 13 years and the service has deteriorated from poor to worse. Buyer be ware. read more

After successfully having our system installed, we had a couple of issues. My gate was broken, the installer left a big mess and screws are already pulling out of the walls (he just put them in the sheetrock!) so I tried to reach our sales rep, Jeff. NOTHING. I finally got a hold of someone in Brentwood and was made promises...two weeks later, still NOTHING. The system works great, I like the product but the "customer service" is completely lacking. Next, to contact Costco to let them know what kind of service is given on their product. Very disappointed, especially for the amount of money we put out on the system!!! read more

We have had a water softener for many years. No hard water spots on dishes or in the shower. We continue to be happy with the service from Success Water and with our water. We also use the reverse osmosis cartridges under the kitchen sink for purified water. As much as people complain about the taste of the water in Pleasanton, poor water quality does not exist in our home. Miguel, our service technician, is exremely knowledgeable, very professional and super tidy. He provided exceptional service. read more

Horrendously expensive: $574 to check water and replace 3 filters. Labor.billed at $139.50 per hour. Plus service fee of $40 then filters/parts of $270 and misc charges. Service from office terrible. They sent an corrupted PDF file of the invoice/receipt which was only 1" in width. I requested via email for them to mail me a copy. No response to email. No receipt came in mail. No phone call. When office called to set up appointment, they said the cost was $179 so I was shocked when maintenance guy Thomas presented bill for $574. I sent another email just now asking them again for a mailed copy of the receipt. I don't have high hopes. Do not use these guys. Find a more reliable and cheaper source read more

Couldn't agree more with all the One(wish could give zero) star ratings for this business provider. Extremely expensive, poor customer service and hard to reach/unresponsive on ETAs. Service charge is a loot. STAY AWAY from them as much as possible. Purchased the system because of Costco years ago and this is my last year getting filters replaced with them. read more

Charge for changing filters and charged $500 and then it starts to leak came back.put about a week later to say it has two cracks in the system and want to charge another $500 to replace the system charged us money for nothing this is bad business got over on us.
