Happily, the mouth watering aroma only grew stronger as I neared the fabric store, and I noticed the newest cafe to set up shop next door. Determining to pop in after I made my purchases, I happily went to pick up my goods. By the time I was entering the cafe I was famished. I scoped the place out and was heartened to see loads of fresh veg for sale, a bookcase full of eclectic choices and a piano in the far back. The lovely waitress was very patient and informative as the daily menu hadn't been put up on the chalkboard wall yet. I decided on a mix of 2 delicious looking salads, carrot and kale quinoa and roast garlic and nut quinoa. I asked for a side portion of the tasty looking hummus and finished with a bottle of cloudy apple juice. I went to sit down and noticed around the back of the kitchen was a pop up trade shop, full of lovely wee bits and pieces. Customers were encouraged to take, swap or donate! The lovely waitress brought over my salad and oh... no words could adequately explain how tasty I found this. For what looked like a small portion I actually struggled to finish it, and I'm a big girl! You know that way you know you're full but it's too awesome to waste? (This might explain my big girlness ;p) the apple juice was fresh tasting and thirst quenching, I could've bought another bottle for the road, but I wanted to leave the change I had for the tip! After eating I checked out Yelp for more reviews and noticed a few people talking about the awesome toilet. Intrigued, I went for a look - worth it is all I'll say! On exiting the loo I ended up chatting with the owner who was adding stock to the swap shop, and I told her the different ways she could use Yelp to promote her business. She too was incredibly nice, and I assured her I would be back soon. All in all I feel I've found a wee pocket oasis deceptively close to the hustle and bustle of Sauchiehall. The fact that it's just next door to Mandors is an added bonus! One star off because I didn't get the chance to see the full menu (it didn't start until after midday), but I'll no doubt update this when I do!

I arrived just after 1pm and I honestly didn't expect it to be nearly full, there was only one table left. Thankfully someone came over to clear it for me. I popped to the counter to order some lunch - the menu has lots of lovely-sounding veggie options so I went for the full plate at £6. For this you get one thing off the specials menu, 3 salads and dips. I went for spanakopita and the rest of the plate was filled with lovely salads like beetroot, carrot, cashew and lentils, as well as two lovely dips in the middle of the plate. It was a really good sized portion which I actually couldn't finish so next time I'd get something a little smaller I think! The cafe has a lovely vibe to it with people working away, playing guitar, catching up with family and generally relaxing. It would make a great spot to work for a few hours as well as it's handy for the top of town. On my way out I spied a great selection of cakes which I'll investigate further next time!

It's not huge so it can be difficult to find a table at lunchtime, but out of hours it is a wonderful space to chill out in over a coffee and a book, and they have free Wi-Fi too if you have work to get on with. The old centre was housed in a couple of tin-roofed sheds and the transformation into the CCA has been nothing short of miraculous. Who knew that there was a wonderful town house hiding behind the old buildings? This was a showpiece job for the architects Page & Park, who have created a wonderful cosmopolitan atrium courtyard that feels like it should be outdoors somewhere on the Mediterranean and really shows off the best of the buildings that it connects with its higher-level walkways. The food is always pretty good, and they do a reasonable soup & wrap lunchtime deal for £6.50. Finish off with a cup of their excellent coffee or a Suki tea and you're all set. Even if you're not hungry, pop in here just to have a look at the space. It's a great example of creative architecture in action.

I have been singing the praises of this alter to fine food for weeks! Saramago has personally taken…read morethe former culinary reputation of Scotland on its shoulders and tossed it away! We came for their theater menu, because we are cheap, and this allows us to order more food! We got a roasted cauliflower steak, a seared cabbage dish, mezze, and an other cauliflower dish with pomegranate. 2 expertly crafted libations! . I am completely confident in recommending anything off the menu. Why? If you can make two so completely different dishes out of cauliflower and make both of them dance on my tongue like a bird of paradise during mating season, you have people back there that care about what they put on the plate and know what they are doing. This is honestly a destination worthy restaurant, if you find yourself within a days drive this is a must try. I promise you will be watching this place on one of your fancy cooking shows soon and then guess what? They won't have any seating for the likes of you! So go now, right now, don't wait!

I could eat in this place every single night!…read more I am not sure I have enough words to cover how good this place is. Ok so here goes. For starters we ordered the platter, but only for one person which was plenty and the Salt and Pepper squid. I would recommend the salt and pepper dishes every time, they are that good! For mains we tried to do the whole lets share but when we both tasted our dishes we didn't want to give them up! We got a Braised Beef curry ( spicy!!) and Salt and Pepper scallops! Oooo mmmm geeeee! Nice! We also ordered 2 portions of rice, Which seemed to be more than enough. As we watched more people being served their food we noticed they seemed to be all doing the same thing which was ordering your own portion of rice and then sharing all the mains with veg as well. The only negative thing I would say (and I really don't want too) they don't have a great selection of beers that are local to their cuisine, so we both selected the tiger beer. I really want to mark this place higher than I can. 10 stars for me!

I've been a fan of Banana Leaf for many years. Prior to its refurb at the end of last year, the…read morerestaurant itself was really shabby and kinda run down - awesome food though. We recently popped in with some friends a couple of weeks ago - and I'm impressed. The refurb has worked wonders. It's managed to retain the friendly atmosphere it previously had, but now has a bit of style to go with its substance. As it's a traditional Malaysian restaurant, the tables are set with chopsticks. Ordinarily I have no issue using them, but I've a health issue that causes my hands to shake, so I asked for a fork. And I got this, delivered with quite a smirk. I'm not justifying in a restaurant why I needed a fork, but I wasn't particularly happy with being (innocently, I'm sure) belittled in this way. I had chicken satay skewers with peanut sauce to start with - really tasty, in a properly cooked, 'falling off the skewer ' kinda way. For main, I had kung po chicken and steamed rice. This was AMAZING! And much spicier than I had expected. Overall the staff were really attentive and the food was awesome. I'm knocking 2 stars off: one for the fork thing; and the second for only having one toilet (it gets really busy here).
