Mod Coffeehouse is a must go to every time I come down and visit Mom on the island! My favorite coffee is the hummingbird which has lavender, raspberry, and coconut but they have plenty more unique coffees to choose from. The vibes are totally cool and laid back with board games to play with in the side room. Cool local art is usually on the walls that is for purchase and even more awesome is the murals across the street to view while eating on the pasto area outside or walk across and pose with them like we like to do! It stays pretty busy but the coffees come out fast so no complaints about the service. My mom and daughter are obsessed with the coffee cake and be careful cause often they run out or if you're too early they aren't ready yet to be served! I have been a MOD Coffeehouse customer since they opened and have consistently visited one to two times a week. I have always loved the atmosphere, the sense of community, and, most of all, their coffee. Unfortunately, that changed after a recent visit when I experienced something I never had before at MOD: poor customer service. I had reward points on my account, which I have used many times in the past without any issues. However, during my recent visit, the employee at the counter was rude and made comments about me using my rewards, implying that I was essentially "getting my coffee for free." After being a loyal customer for years and spending my hard-earned money at MOD regularly, I find it disappointing that I was made to feel uncomfortable for using a reward I had earned through my purchases. That is the entire purpose of a rewards program, and I believe enjoying a complimentary coffee through those rewards is completely justified. Unfortunately, that interaction left a lasting impression. MOD lost me as a customer that day, which is disappointing because I genuinely enjoyed supporting the business for so many years. read more

Tea was really good. They have several options. I would give 5 stars but when i did the baristas choice for a late. I didn't know they would just do a plane vanilla late. Decent coffees. I got the seasonal great pumpkin latte and it smell good. The pumpkin syrup is made in house. Matcha latte comes unsweetened. If I have to give a constructive feedback, perhaps the baristas can be a little bit friendlier? Both of them seem very unhappy and was annoyed with every question I had (and mind you, I only asked 2 questions to confirm the drinks...). I created my own latte of vanilla, honey, & cinnamon sugar, a combination of the honey bee (vanilla & honey) and vanilla bean (vanilla & cinnamon sugar). I don't like sweet coffee drinks. The barista mentioned their drinks are made half as sweet as Starbucks. The barista assured me they proportion the honey, cinnamon sugar & vanilla to equal the same amount of sweetness as if it was just vanilla. The drink was quite good. Not too sweet & still able to taste the robustness of the coffee. In addition to the standard coffee drinks, they have several unique lattes that contain ingredients such as lavender, honey, cayenne, & toffeenut & cinnamon sugar. I stopped by here earlier today with my family for our morning coffee. Mid Coffeehouse is located on Postoffice St in Galveston and has plenty of both indoor and outdoor seating. Inside, there are a couple of coolers full of drinks and a display case stocked with pastries and other goodies. After looking over the menu, I ended up ordering a large hot Hummingbird Latte while my wife went with a large iced version. I also liked the looks of the jalapeño kolache and got one for myself, while both of my kids ordered brownies that turned out to be espresso brownies. We waited about 10 minutes from the time we entered until we got our drinks and headed out. I ate the kolache while we waited and thought it was pretty good. The sausage had a slight spice and a good flavor while the bun was soft and a bit sweet. Both of my twins also enjoyed their brownies and ate most of them. As for my coffee, I thought it was good overall. The mix of coconut, lavender, and raspberry was an interesting one, though the lavender came through a bit stronger than I would have liked. Whenever I could taste the coffee itself, it was nice, but it was mostly hidden behind the flavorings. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. Their specialty coffee is great for those who like their drinks more like Starbucks but they also nail the basics (like cappuccinos and macchiatos) as well. First of all, how thrilled am I that my favorite barista Coffey is back? Place still feels looks and smells the same and that's thing I appreciate about Mod. Same high quality drinks and great service but is always the same place with a non pretentious vibe. The dream bar was still delicious after all of these years and I've been coming there for a long time, over 20 years to be exact. Wait is that even right? Has it been around that long? Appreciate the new section with the games and toys and all of the natural light that comes into it. This is located in the post office district of Galveston island. Several blocks of different shops and restaurants makes for a great family fun day. Parking is mostly street parking which can be challenge if you are wanting a spot close by. This coffee shop has two rooms. Right when u walk in you are met with seating and counter to order food and drinks. They do have smoothies and tea if coffee or caffeine is not your jam. I had their gonzo hot and it was giving warm hugs. But OMG that vegan zucchini bread was mouth watering. I wish I got more than 1 slice but balance and moderation won over gluttony. Next time for sure! The next room offered a lot more seating which makes for a great study/work environment. There is a lovely corner with a small couch and games for all ages. My little ones had a great time with the toys. There was a small line and lots of orders but the turn around time was fast. Whatever their process is, it is working and other places could learn from them. Galveston has become a second home for us. This is the only place i visit every time we head to our beach house. Their coffee and their baked goods are really unique and yummy. My favorite drink is called JUST TRUST ME. The name itself already got me! I recently tried their cinnamon coffee cake and it was pretty amazing! The top of the cake had an unforgettable crumble. MOD is a great coffee shop in The Strand that we drop into just about every time we are on the island. Coffee drinks, teas, smoothies, pastries, and some other snackies... You can order online to "skip the line," they have a rewards program, and they also have lovely patio seating - complete with a pergola drenched in flowers. Their space features local art (they also participate in Art Walk), and there's an adjacent room with a lot of seating and patrons playing board games. Only area from improvement I see are two things: The matcha is pre-sweetened, so you can't opt to order a matcha without it. And what I hope to see there - and other establishments - is to do away with plastic straws and other unnecessary plastics. Other than that, it's a great local business we love supporting. read more

MOD Coffeehouse's motto is "for the love of coffee and the community" and I think it's befitting! This coffee shop is in the heart of downtown Galveston, located alongside art galleries and sponsors local events such as Art Walk. The inside is warm and inviting with ample seating for studying or chatting with folks. They also have outdoor seating. Moreover, they host talks from local scientists at UTMB, and have sidewalk sessions featuring local artists. Something special about MOD that I think speaks volumes to their community-mindedness and lack of judgment is that they have a fridge of free naloxone in case someone is experiencing an opioid overdose. In Texas, where this is an ongoing issue, I think that this harm reduction approach shows how much they are looking out for others! They also have a little free library. Onto their food and drinks, I would highly recommend their pastries -- especially the lavender scone, carrot cake cookie, and blueberry muffin. I love their London fog drink wise. They have an amazing rewards program where they give you $5 off your drink or food during your birthday month. Today I went in and the sweet barista gave me my chai freeze (delicious!) and offered me a free blueberry muffin. The muffin was fresh, warm, and scrumptious. I love MOD and will be back soon! I came to Mod a lot during my year living in Galveston. It's very cute and has a lively ivy awning/canopy. Great spot for studying, catching up with friends, or reading a good book. While I could always count on Mod's pastries, their drinks were severely lacking to me. Like most of Galveston's coffee shops, Mod's specialty/latte beverages are very very sweet. I even think they used pre-sweetened matcha for a time--a big no-no for me! If you're like me and would prefer to eat your sweets, then your drink options will be limited to more concentrated espresso drinks or tea--a lot fewer options than what the menu provides and showcases. I also think the friendliness of their staff is hit-or-miss. I have thankfully never received direct sass from any of them, but there were a few times where I would try to use the Mod app for rewards only to be met with subtle annoyance by the staff. My guess for this is because the app's point-redemption feature or its other benefits like "birthday rewards" rarely works. As an ex-waitress, I would be annoyed too if our systems were frequently not working for people. But don't take this out on the customers! Anyway, Mod provided an upbeat, hipster-like place to sit back and relax. Out of all of Galveston's coffee shops, this one has the best ambience! read more

I have always seen this charming cute coffeehouse when I have visited Galveston. Today 6/7/25, I finally had the opportunity to try it. There was a longer line which gave me a false sense of success. I asked about two different coffee drinks. The Barista answered in a bored way. While I waited for my drink, I admired the ambiance of the shop. The worker who created my coffee latte, mumbled something and when i asked him if this was so and so drink- he just mumbled something under his breath and dismissed me. I also tried a slice of banana bread. This was the worst coffee I have ever had, it barely had any taste. The banana bread pastry was dry and tasteless. My total bill for one coffee and one slice of banana bread was $13.14!!!!! will never come here again. poor customer service and terrible coffee and pastry. read more
