Decided to try this quaint, cute establishment. Friendly worker. Orders some tacos and I was not a big fan. My daughter ordered her food and she wasn't a fan as well. The drinks were ok. The chips and salsa came with a smattering of a few chips and several small containers of different salsa. For the price I felt it way overpriced. Left wishing I had gone elsewhere. I'm...maybe I'm slow but there was NOTHING special taste wise with this food. I got 3 Beef Tacos to go but ordered and ate there the Nachos. Nothing to eeeeevvvven to write home about. It was just...just average. I've DEFINITELY had better taco's elsewhere. Nice people though and the best thing I had there full of flavor--was their 'Chamoy Peach Rings'. I called in today to ask if they had any specials and the guy sounded upset and said no specials on Wednesday and before I could say my next word. Which was I wanted to order the 3 taco plate. The guy hangs up the phone. I decided not to call back and waste my time with this jerk and instead I'll go drive all the way to taco el sabor in university place where they have great service and delicious tacos and they have a happy hour for 1.99 on tacos every day. We have been back a few times. Still feeling the same way about the food. Haven't seen any fruit agua frescas lately--hopefully soon since it is Spring. Mangonadas have improved to include size, fruit chunks, and tamarindo sticks. The churros are good. The Tres Leches Cake always seems to be out of stock so haven't been able to try it. Had the breakfast burrito with chicken, it was amazing. Service was really good. Woman who took our order was very friendly and polite. The restaurant is very cool. Decorated with so much detail and games on the table which we played while waiting for the food. Not much wait but either way, the wait is worth it. Amazing place 10/10 would definitely try again. There's no place like Sugar Bones Tacos anywhere in Lakewood, Tacoma, or Seattle, Washington. The food here is crafted to perfection. I've tried the entire menu, and every item does not disappoint. However, I usually stick to my favorite when I'm craving tacos. The esquites -- if that's how you spell it -- the corn in a cup, are the best in the entire state. My last favorite was in Yucatán, Mexico, but the one here at Sugar Bones is even better! read more

I gave a negative review awhile back... but i wanted to try again. three times in a row, i have tried to place an order... one time they were out of their street tacos - their primary menu item. all 3 times they have been out of chips & queso. tonight i called to see if their website was correct. i was told... "yep we're out". no more explanation... i told this was the 3rd time i've tried to order & you have been out every time. the answer, "yeah we tend to run out early" to which i said, "gee, i'd start making more then". all i got was a chuckle before i hung up. guess they could care a less about customers... so i don't expect them to be around a whole lot longer. read more

Wonderful experience. They make their chips, fries, sauces and meats all fresh in house. Owners mom was working there (she said she covers weekends) and she was so warm and took excellent care of us. Not sure how to start this review, so I'll simplify it - Pros - very cute aesthetic, bright and sunny space. Accessible water station, really good loaded fries, the quality of the ingredients seems fresh. The salsas were tasty yet very simple, with only two offered (verde and roja). I liked the side rice and beans, but my husband found them bland. My cali burrito was a good size. Mole de pollo tacos weren't bad. Cons - notice my lack of excitement in the pros. My burrito was straight up creamy. Weird flex because Cali burritos are fries, meat and pico, and this one was beans, fries, rice, cheese sauce and I added guac. The mole was very, very mild, which wasn't bad but it was very forgettable. The horchata was 90% ice but tasty. Ambiance was absolutely destroyed by the weird ambient music and the loud belching family sitting behind us. Our verdict? Mexican food for Caucasian folks who want an IG moment. read more

Loved the mangonada, and the mole chicken tacos were great. Nice spot with an smallish but interesting menu. read more

As a taco lover I was excited to try their tacos, but I wasn't very impressed. I got a variety in a combo with rice, beans and horchata. I had one steak taco with mole, a chicken taco and an Al Pastor (pork with pineapple) and compared to other places, these were all pretty bland. The best of the three was the Al Pastor in my opinion. The pineapple helped give it a nice flavor. I usually love beans when I eat Mexican food too but sadly their beans are outrageously salty ... I don't normally enjoy the rice from mexican restaurants but surprisingly, their rice was the best part of the meal for me and had the most flavor !! Horchata wasn't the best but it was decent. I really wanted the cucumber agua Fresca but they were out. I'm not sure if I would get food here again... it wasn't terrible but it also wasn't great. If I do return at some point though I'd definitely skip the beans and try something different from the tacos. read more

For the loaded fries were 18$ witch almost seemed really steep till they came out and boy they were packed and more than enough for two, fries where nice and moist and the meat was tender and juicy. The interior of the restaurant was small and quaint but really inviting and overall chill. Stopped by on my way back home from Anderson Island to end my weekend trip. For two tacos, it was decent. Here, you pick your base - burrito, taco, or quesadilla. Then you choose your type of meat - al pastor, asada, pollo, lengua, carnitas, soyrizo, camaron. You can also add extras such as avocado and salsa but it is an extra $0.50. I ordered two al pastor tacos with sour cream. You can order as many tacos as you want but for two it totaled to $9. You can have two of different meat, but i was intrigued in the al pastor more than any other option. They were smaller than I thought, but they were enough to fill my lunch cravings. Tasted decent, not too sour and the pork was easily pull-apartable (is that the right word?). Overall, I will come back here again. Might end up trying the burrito next with different meat. read more

[Backstory: I grew up on the streets of San Diego so my taco snobbery is high.] This is a relatively new taco shop in Lakewood, where the taco competition is fierce. In my opinion they set themselves apart from the other shops because they serve SoCal style tacos and not Mexican taco truck tacos. The average PNW taco truck, imho, is lackluster in fulfilling my taco desires. But I digress... These tacos are on corn tortillas, but single tortillas are used per taco instead of double. Quality of the tortilla is apparent and they don't fall apart! Tacos are also generally larger than the traditional street-style tacos. Quality of ingredients is absolutely better and fresher! I also was happy that they included the carrots... so many places lack this essential side! Meats are well made, I got one of each flavor. Salsa was pretty good too. I had two tacos a mangonada and a side of rice and beans. The tacos were a four/five. they had good toppings and meat but I didn't qualify for a five out of five. I haven't tried mangonada before but it was a 5/5 and it had Tahin and Chamoy in it with what tasted like a small amount of pineapple juice. The reason this review is a three stars out of five is because the side of rice and beans was not ideal The rice tasted like soap and reheated. The beans were fine, but could be a lot better.
