    Enchilada and tostada

Stopped in after the Tacoma Home and Garden show as we've been meaning to stop by Freighthouse Station for a while. Decided to support Adela's business (and I have a soft spot for all Mexican and New Mexican food places). It was Sunday so the place was pretty empty and many of the food stalls are closed. Started with chips and salsa as she was out of guacamole. The salsa was heavy on either Tapatio or Cholula (hard to tell for certain). It was a nostalgic and welcome flavor - to me anyway. The side of chips is pretty small so plan accordingly (it's not the endless refillable bowl most people think of for Mexican food). We ordered the carne asada dinner plate and an enchilada and tostada plate with pollo. First thing to note: For the price you pay it's a lot of food! Everything was very good. There's a hint of pork in the refried beans and there's still whole beans - non of that soupy mess that's become popular. If you're looking for some authentic food, stop by Adela's.

You have to pick up some tacos on Cinco right? Shoot I'd probably eat them everyday... Anyways, that's exactly what I did and some . Placed an order for takeout and sat at the bar to drink a beer. The music and taps were calling my name, the vibe gave me what I would expect back home in Cali. The señorita who served me was very nice and wiped up my food in no time (let's remember fresh food isn't fast food). Would have stayed for another beer but I had to drive home. Let's just say, I will be coming back. Thank you for the amazing food and atmosphere .

4 Carnitas tacos with a Mexica Coca Cola!

First time eating in this restaurant and the food was on point! This is 4 carnitas tacos with a solid cold Mexican Coca Cola! Make sure you get both sauces to have the great experience for your parlor!

The food was delicious and the service was very quick! The salsa rojo was the best red sauce I've ever had in my entire life. I usually prefer the salsa verde but this red sauce blew me out of the water.

It is a bit smaller, but food wise I will be back! We went for a dinner and it did not disappoint. Lines for the drive through are long, so we went inside to dine. Loved how sweet and patient the ladies were taking our order. You order your food first, and then they will bring it out for you. Little salsa bar, Coke drinks, huge flavorful portions will make you happy that you visited. I ordered the birria, and although I wished for more consommé, I think if you ask they would have given it. The burrito is epic. Overall so happy to have gone and enjoyed it!

We had adobada, asada and chicken tacos, added a side of fried onion and serrano pepper. The adobada meat was ok, chicken was good and our favorite was the asada. I didn't like the default salsa they put on the tacos, would've preferred just onion and cilantro. In fact I didn't like any of the salsas they offered, the green salsa was the only decent one and I'm sure the orange looking salsa was on its way out, it tasted and smelled funky. Customer service was great. We might come back just for asada tacos but maybe not.

By the time we finished, it was late, we were exhausted, and our stomachs had officially declared an emergency. One bite in, and we knew we'd found a winner. The waitress took it back to heat it up again. It was slightly warmer but not by much. Then came our meal, chicken fajitas...again, it was lukewarm! The iron skillet it came on was not very hot and the food was not even sizzling on the skillet ‍ in addition to that, they no longer serve chicken breast fajitas...they only use thigh meat There were no utensils to pick up anything to put it on your plate (no spoons, tongs, etc.) . The restaurant was so dimly lit, we couldn't even see our food. We were not impressed at all and will never go back! We have recommended this restaurant so many times since January 2026 (we had it delivered while staying in a hotel and it was amazing), however we will stop doing that, as well! Do better Matador, do better! We were there on Sunday night at 7 pm, but NEVER again

It's good that they are doing so well however. The parking lot always looks full. My last visit here was after a planned meal stop somewhere else fell through. I still wanted supper and I was in the vicinity and decided if I could get into Moctezuma's. I got in with ease (there was just me) and seated right away. I haven't had a taco salad in I don't know how long so I ordered one of those. I also got a small sized Spicy Cucumber Margarita. The taco salad was good, very satisfying as well as the chips and salsa that came along with it. The Margarita was great, very refreshing with the cucumber and spiciness blending together nicely. Service was prompt and friendly. I still have a good impression with what I had for this place from meals of several years ago and if you do precise timing (like early supper arrival time (4:30-5 p.m.) or lunch you are more than likely to find seating easier.

Our waiter, Mark, was incredibly attentive -- checking in regularly, keeping drinks topped off, and making sure we had everything we needed without ever feeling rushed. Exactly the kind of hospitality that makes a meal memorable. We started with the Guacamole Sampler -- Traditional, Carlito's Way, and Austin Style -- served with warm housemade chips and their signature salsa. Every style had its own personality, and the flavors were spot‑on across the board. A fantastic way to kick off the meal. For my entrée, I went with the Seasonal Al Pastor Tamales, and wow... this dish is a true taste of the south. The ancho, guajillo, and achiote citrus slow‑roasted pork was rich and tender, perfectly balanced by cumin black beans, pickled pineapple, white onion, and serrano salsa. Every bite had depth, heat, and brightness. My wife ordered the Smoked Chicken Tomatillo Soup -- hominy, red bell peppers, carrots, onions, chipotle, buttermilk crema, cilantro, and blue corn tortilla strips. Served with fresh housemade sopes, it was comforting, flavorful, and beautifully layered. A perfect bowl for any season. We also shared the Navajo Fry Bread -- honestly, this should be listed under desserts. Warm, soft, slightly sweet, and absolutely delicious. The overall vibe was relaxed and inviting. It can get a bit noisy -- especially for someone like me who's hard of hearing -- but the energy is still warm and enjoyable. Cactus never disappoints. From the kitchen to the front‑of‑house, the team consistently delivers great food, great service, and a great experience. Hats off to the cooks and staff for another fantastic visit. We'll definitely be back.
