I've been taking my little Peanut to Parkland on Pitts Rd. for about 2.5 years now for day boarding and grooming. He loves to go and see everyone who works there and cares for him, in addition to having fun with his puppy friends. It is very clean and well-managed and has lots of yard room for dogs to run and play outside. The owner, Kelly is very strict about ensuring all pets have their vaccines, so I have every confidence my pup will not contract anything bad from another pet. I highly recommend this business as it gives me peace of mind when I have to leave my sweet dog for the day, and would feel just as comfortable if I ever had to be gone overnight. read more

Based off of how I was treated here I can only imagine how the animals are treated. Going on a family vacation and decided last minute to leave my dog with other family members dogs here. I was weary after reading reviews about how dogs had been lost and died, but it was last minute. At drop off I asked if I could get updates and/or pictures via text. The receptionist rudely said, "we don't do that". She said I could call for an update. The next afternoon I called and got no answer. I left a message and of course didn't get a call back. The next day I went to pick up my dog. I got to the kennel at 2:15pm on a Sunday. I had no idea that pick up was 3pm-6pm as I had never been informed this at drop off. I went to the front door and rang the bell. The kennel assistant came and told me there was no one to check out my dog. He said he would call a manager and I apologize several times. The manager came down with the biggest attitude I have ever encountered and said to me "what are you doing here. You do realize we aren't open". I proceeded to try and explain the confusion and apologize when she abruptly cut me off and told me not to yell at her which is not at all what was happened as I never raised my voice despite her lashing out at me. She continues with her attitude telling me she had to stop eating lunch to come down here and figure out what I wanted. I had to call my husband and put him on speaker as a witness to get her to stop berating me. I left in tears. There is no reason anyone should ever be treated the way I was treated here. Never again will I consider going here. read more

We were a little hesitant to leave our dogs, because we have never left them with anyone, we have always had someone come to our home. But Lisa made us feel very comfortable and reassured us that they would be well taken care of. She also updated us on the daily on how they were doing. They were happy and even happier when we picked them up. I highly recommend this place! read more

I hardly ever write reviews good or bad. I have used Parkland Kennels for several years. I have used other kennels for boarding, grooming and other services. Some were good, but not like Parkland. My dogs are pampered, I will admit. Evetime I took my dogs to other kennels it was the same. They didn't want to be there. Not with Parkland. They get excited when they see that we are going there. They get out of my car wanting to go inside. The staff meets them at the door and takes them for grooming or to the kennels for a stay. .I have looked the kennels over and every time I was there it was always clean & well kept. The owner , Kelli Edell, has groomed them for me also. I asked for the dogs to be groomed a certain way. It is always done as i requested. The grooming and boarding rates have always been reasonable. As long as my dogs are happy and excited to go and be there I will continue to use this facility. read more

I love PK and we used them exclusively for boarding and grooming. But... they require an influenza shot and I haven't found a vet yet that thinks this is needed or a good idea. So, only because of that, we stopped. My babies miss it there. Best groomers! We miss you PK read more

I had the opportunity to tour the facilities when I dropped off a couple of dogs that were rescued from overseas. I have been in the working dog community for roughly about 14 years. This is what I saw As you drive in they have a huge break area in the front that is fenced and secured. The property is surrounded by trees that provide plenty of shade for the dogs. I walked straight to the back to another two big fenced in break areas that had plenty of shade and very green grass. When I walked back in to the area where the dogs were kenneled I was amazed that it DID NOT smell like dog, the kennel areas where air conditioned and very clean Dogs had plenty of fresh clean water. I did walk by an area where the cleaning supplies are kept and noticed that they use superior cleaning products. I have a retired war dog that spent 4 years in Afghanistan with me, I dont leave him just anywhere, I would definitely trust leaving my dog at Parkland Kennels. I would definitely give this boarding facility a 5 star read more

As a 19-year customer, my crew has experienced wonderful care. With one of my dogs battling life with epilepsy it is comforting to know the level of care they require is well met. I am president of Mission K9 Rescue, and we rescue and rehome retired working dogs. We house our dogs at Parkland Kennels and are there on a regular basis. We show up unannounced and at all times of the day and evening. We are proud to work with Parkland, because of the amazing kennels and staff. No matter when we arrive, the staff is always working hard to make sure the animals in their care are well cared for. The kennel runs are ALWAYS clean and never smell, the workers are either exercising the dogs, cleaning the runs or feeding and caring for the dogs. No one is ever idle. These people love all of the dogs in their care. They pay attention to details, and they make sure that the dogs are healthy and safe. The runs themselves are indoor/outdoor and are cool and comfortable with a bed in each one. At night, the dogs are locked up safely inside. Our retired working dogs are extremely important to us. The kennel staff helps us rehabilitate them and get them ready for civilian life. They call us immediately if there is an issue or concern, and they have even taken them to the vet when we couldn't get there fast enough. They truly go above and beyond for the animals in their care! We trust everyone at Parkland Kennels and are honored to call them partners in our rescue endeavor! read more

I have used Parkland Kennel for boarding and grooming. I am very pleased with the grooming and care that has been provided to my boston terrier. Both the grounds and building are always well kept and I appreciate how helpful they have been with addressing my dogs needs. I would give many many more stars if I could. The new owner Kelli is so kind and very knowledgeable. She cares and she is like family. My dog is very nervous I could not take her anywhere but Parkland Kennel. The facilities enable your dog to go in and out. She has a wonderful staff and they work to know your specific needs. They take the dogs out regularly. The facility is clean and well kept. The grounds are kept well and the fences maintained. We lost my little guy to cancer and she was there for us when we needed it most. Parkland is the best. read more

I hate to have to write a negative review but I will never bring my dog back here again. Our dog stayed there for 4 days and we picked her up before 1:00 the next day. When we got back home I opened her bag to find the last packet of food which was supposed to be her breakfast along with a packet of refrigerated food that was spoiled. Also was missing several cloth diapers for cleaning her after meals. We even gave them a nice tip thinking everything was ok. Never again!! read more

Wanted to board my furkids here since it is close to our home. But upon making reservations I was informed they "usually don't board pitbulls" but they would give ours a trial. I have entrusted the care of my yellow Lab to Parkland Kennel for several years now. After a very disturbing experience at another local kennel, I was led to Parkland by a neighbor who has been a loyal Parkland client for a number of years as well. To support my loyalty, respect & trust to Parkland, let me share why I feel this way. We had been dealing with a mystery issue with Bailey, even our vet was mystified! This issue was a reoccurring condition that would surface about every 3 to 4 months. She would run a high fever, develop a horrible infection wherever the nasty lesion surfaced, never in the same place as the time before. It would take hold of her very quickly requiring immediate attention by our vet. We were leaving town & boarding Bailey, & I was a very worried dog Mom--it was about time to expect another round!! I gave the details of Bailey's issue to the Parkland personnel so they could keep a check on her. They, of course, had our vet's contact info & the vet was aware Bailey would be at Parkland. The issue did surface while she was there. I was contacted by Parkland & was told they had talked to our vet & they would be taking Bailey to him. I immediately called my vet & Bailey had already arrived at his office! She was left in his care & no doubt the quick action by Parkland kept things from getting out of control. I would never consider leaving Bailey anywhere else! read more

I have boarded and groomed my poodle at PK for about 6 years. The staff are professional, caring and knowledgeable. My baby had diabetes and the staff was well equipped to administer diet, insulin and exercise when she was kenneled. There is NO other safe, affordable and loving environment for my precious person in a poodle suit! The grooming is the best also! They go above and beyond, just like we do at home! read more

The folks at Parkland have been the best! I travel every week on business and I trust them completely to care for my dog, Kimo. Kimo is a Korean Jindo, and a "special needs" dog. He has anxiety issues and nervous energy, and does not let many people get close to him. Additionally, the Jindo breed needs lots of exercise. But everyone at Parkland has been great with him and he even lets them touch him now. He gets 2 play times a day, plus 2 bathroom breaks, so he's outside 4 times a day which is perfect for him. I am so relieved to have found this place! read more

Parkland Kennel is an honest business. I always ask how my dog did during his stay and value their comments because he is skittish and we are working on his socialization. Yes, my dog drinks A LOT when he comes home probably because he is much more active at Parkland than at home. He's tired! And he usually sleeps for a day after we bring him home! People only write a review when they've had a bad experience, not when things are going well. My dog has been to several other kennels and Parkland has been the best one. Parkland kennel does NOT smell like a "kennel" and it is always clean no matter how busy or slow it is. I also buy his food there because he has food allergies. If you've had a good experience, you'll tell 5 people if you've had a bad experience, you'll tell 11 people that's the way it is. Parkland is the best kennel we have encountered and that's why we are staying with them. read more

Did some checking and I will not be boarding my dogs here. I knew the owner was not nice and had issues but thought as long as the the workers and facilities and dog care was very good then I would consider boarding there. After visiting several different times it was not the place for me. The workers take the dog to a enclosed pen however are only allowed to throw the ball (toy) once or twice because the owner says so. They also only keep the dogs outside in the out door pens for a much shorter time than advertised. Owner is concerned the dog will get too rambunctious and cause a fence to break as they are in need of reinforcing. Also they take away water bowls at the end of the business day and don't give the dogs water again until the start of the business day. Personnel turn over is high. read more

To address the person Sam from San Marcos: I'm not sure who you are but we don't remember you taking a tour. The dogs go out into large play yards for play times and potty rotation, not pens, we only limit ball throwing in the summer due to the risk of overheating the dogs. I'm not sure whose fences you're talking about but it's not ours. Since we are close to Pecan Grove subd some people mix us up with Pecan Grove Kennel. We've had several good employees for several years, many times an employee decides this isn't the easy job they thought it was or are not up to our standards. The dogs do not have water overnight but if the owner requests it, absolutely. To the lady who thinks we don't like pit bulls: you're wrong, we have a number of them that we LOVE, but we still have to evaluate them first, they aren't the only breed either. Too many dog bites by various breeds has made us cautious. read more
