We recently ordered a custom cake from Sugared Ledge Bakery in Elkhorn for a retirement celebration, and I honestly can't say enough good things about the experience. From the beginning, the staff was incredibly helpful and creative. We had a pretty ambitious idea--a 3D cake shaped like a Blanton's Bourbon bottle--and they were completely on board. The attention to detail was amazing. They even recreated the iconic horse topper, and the finished product looked so real the retiree actually thought it was an actual bottle at first. They also helped us select from a wide variety of cake flavors and cupcakes. The main cake was the retiree's favorite flavor, and we added an assortment of cupcakes so guests could try different options. Every single one was delicious--some of the best cupcakes I've ever had, and a lot of guests were asking where they came from. One of the biggest lifesavers: they delivered the cake to The Drover and made sure it was safely stored in a fridge for us. We were all tied up with work and couldn't get there in person, so that extra step meant a lot. If you're looking for a cake that's both a showstopper and genuinely delicious, I can't recommend Sugared Ledge enough. Their talent and service really made the event feel special. read more

A Yelp event brought me in but I couldn't resist picking up a few more goodies. We sampled apple fritter, cinnamon sugar, fruity pebbles and a long John. They were all incredibly fresh and well flavored. I appreciate their focus on donuts and cake and keeping it simple with coffee but I really would have liked some better milk options as opposed the processed creamers. Stopped By the Sugared Ledge in Elkhorn! Ordered Powered filled lemon, Cinnamon & Sugar, Maple Bacon, Fruity Pebbles, Strawberry Sprinkle, Pistachio Matcha, & Iced Vanilla Latte! They were all fresh, soft, and very flavorful! We went on Wednesday at 7am and they were still fully stocked minus 1 flavor of donut! When you walk in you a greeted by the staff and the smell of freshly made donuts. They have a number of different donuts available and even take it to the next level with a little extra design on the frosting. I picked up a dozen to give the family some options and we loved them all. If the store gets busy I could see it getting a little cramped inside. I finally got in to Sugared Ledge and boy, the wait has been worth it! The donuts are absolutely delicious, and as a bonus they're beautiful to look at! I got the chocolate sprinkle, vanilla sprinkle, triple blueberry glazed, and the chocolate peppermint. I love that they do a donut of the month, which is currently the chocolate peppermint, and I'll absolutely be back for more! Get your donuts early! Special orders accepted. I was a walk-in for a dozen donuts at about 8:30 on a Thursday morning, so there was still a great selection, though picked over. The gentleman who assisted was courteous and helpful in answering questions. He told me they opened the shop in Elkhorn only last December and have a 2nd location opening in Waterloo soon. Donuts are generous in size and made fresh daily. There's really no seating area inside - just one small counter inside and one table outside, so this is more of a pick up and go sort of shop. read more

I was so excited to try these donuts since Salted Edge is one of my favorite restaurants. I grabbed a mixed dozen for my donut-loving house guests one morning and we all agreed they are maybe 1/2 step above Dunkin' Donuts. They were pretty to look at but less than mediocre for taste and texture--we ended up throwing half of them away. Very nice employees though! read more

They survived to even be delicious and soft the next day. Staff is friendly and clearly having a good time. Glad to see this was not on the 10 best places for custom cakes in Omaha. Would also say this is probably the worst place to order pies from. The pies we bought here for Thanksgiving were not tasty at all. The pumpkin pie was burned on the top, and the apple pie was mostly crust, not much fruit. Also, the pies were small and certainly not worth the $25.00 per pie cost. Obviously this place is paying way too much in rental for the space they are occupying and trying to compensate by overcharging for their inferior product. I would suggest Summer Kitchen or Village Inn for a better quality pie. Will never buy from here again. read more
