I ordered takeout for my birthday and I was happy I did! The personal red velvet cake was so delicious, it had real cream cheese frosting like I haven't had in a long time and the cake itself was good (although a smidgen dry). The macarons were good too, although almost three dollars for a tiny one is a little steep. But nuts are so expensive now, so maybe that's why. I would definitely order again from here. read more

Had to purchase a last minute cake this past weekend and Sugarboy did not disappoint. It was a beautiful pink and white marble cake with butterflies and a little crown decoration. Sugarboy also offers cake toppers and sparkler candles! The cake was nice and moist and dulce de leche flavored and it wasn't too sweet! It was perfect! I am a sweet lover and I am very critical on how I like my sweets. I also purchased the flan with tress leches cup and it was a dream! The other day I ordered a cake for my sisters baby shower I walked in and saw a cake that was already on display...... It was marble and simple but beautiful I'm going to attach a picture below.... When I went to pick up the cake I was a bit late maybe a hour, I walked In and literally end up standing there for a hour... Seemed as if they had a new girl and she didn't know what she was doing, I bought 20 chocolate covered strawberries right there and then cost me 57$ on top of the 97$ I paid for a cake that my sister absolutely hated because it wasn't the one that we clearly ordered...... I'm sorry, It really messed a lot of things up..... I was charged almost 100$ for something we did not ask for and the cake literally was falling apart, the garland was diamonds when clearly in the first picture it's gold... all I asked was for the happy birthday sign to be removed because it's for a babyshower....... This bakery is a Gem! My daughter is a student at Manhattan College and lives in the neighborhood. She was walking the ave and stumbled into this bakery. She was so impressed by the customer service, she walked in for a cheese danish and she purchased a few items. Everything was delicious. I had to try it for myself. Needless to say I was very impressed. Every time I'm in the neighborhood I must make a stop at my favorite bakery! I bring back danish, cookies, pastries to Staten Island. This is sugarboy bakerys second location, and it is lovely. Its much better than the other location maybe because its new. I do like the original location for the cakes, cupcakes, and other pasteries, and the people there are always nice, and it smells lovely because the kitchen is right behind the counter so you can see them bakeing when you walk in. As for this location, its close off. Its much bigger and the display of cakes are much more on notice. We have order cakes and gotten lil cupcakes for my kids from here. My favorite is there almond bread, that is just delicious, and best beleive the prices are reasonable. It took me along time to find a bakery that makes good cakes and with this new location Im happy to be close to both. They also have much more besides cake there as well. Save your money! It's all hype. I purchased a custom ordered birthday cake and it had a weird smell and was dry like toast. It literally crumbled. I called the shop and they came up with every excuse in the book. First, they forgot to write Happy Birthday on the cake. Then the filling was literally jelly (instead of fresh strawberries). The buttercream smelled like stale cheese and they said buttercream is supposed to smell like that. WRONG. Then the cake crumbles when sliced to which they replied their cake is supposed to crumble unless I specifically ordered a Tres Leche. WRONG. Then they asked if I kept the cake outside the refrigerator. NO. When all of the excuses were rebutted, I was told the owner would call me. Which never happened. Folks...get a cake from Wegmans...it will taste much better. read more

Beware: While they make decent cakes and pastries, they are irresponsible. We ordered a beautiful birthday cake and left a hand made cake-topper with them so they can place on once the cake was done. On the day of pickup they informed us that they "misplaced" our cake topper. They apologized and gave us a measly $20 back. I recently bought a tres Leche cake for my little sisters birthday. It was delicious. Even my mother who Is a chef and tough critic said it was good. I called them prior to going in and asked many questions about pricing, store hours, and flavors, etc. The girl was nice over the phone. The only thing was she called me so many pet names (sweetie, baby,honey) it's one of my biggest pet peeves and personally I think it's unprofessional. It was distracting. I ordered a cake for my daughter's birthday and took a picture of a cake I found online. I told them I did not want a replica of that cake and show them what I wanted. I also took a Custom candle and several figurines of Trolls. They did a neat job, the taste of the cake was super good. but they did made a replica of the cake I showed them and did not add my candle nor my figurines. Noone called me back on the issue, I had to make several calls and go to their store and pick up the items they failed to add. I paid $375 for the cake plus $75 for the delivery. My first visit to NY City required me to google all the recommended cheesecake bakers and I chose 3. First was eh...second was good, SugarBoys was Fantasticalious! The cheesecake is creamy, not overly sweet and disappears at home faster than a cup of espresso in the morning. Everybody loves it and dieters stop dieting because they know how good a cheesecake is from SBs. I'm calling in an order now because I've been in City 3 days and been dreaming of that creamy cheesecake day and night since I got on the plane in FL. I'm going to the original location in the hopes that sweet heart young lady is still there that always smiles and brightens up my day. She also lets your approve of the purchase before you pay which is nice, but not needed because I've never had a bad anything from SugarBoys Bakery. Have I tried anything else? Oh yeah I have....anything that looked yummy and it all does. My wife likes the tiramisu (it's to die for) so when my bride buys it, I end up eating most of it before she gets it outside...LOL. They have different flavors of cheesecake slices...and I love em all but the best for me is a large regular cheesecake with cherry topping....OMGB&R (oh my god batman and robin). So, I've been buying my sons cakes from here for a few years, the cakes have been delicious, also family members of mine and friends do too. Sad to say for his 5th Birthday the cake wasn't good at all. The cake is usually moist And soft, this time it was stale and not soft at all, it tasted like it's was made a few days prior to pick up. I am a cake lover, and so are many of my family members. No one ate the cake after their first bite. Sad to say i wasted my money because we tossed the remaining ( almost entire cake) out in the trash. I called the next day on a Sunday, and I wanted to just let them know about the cake, the girl who picked up had the nerve to say maybe it was something I did to the cake. How is that even possible?? I picked up the cake at the time requested and it went straight to the venue. Then she did can I bring the remaining cake in so she can see for herself. And I told her you guys really need to learn how to except criticism, especially if a person is calling about their experience. And I called, so I can avoid making a review, however since she kept insisting it was someone they I must of done, here is my review.
