They have tea, coffee and bottled drinks as well. It's a small Mom and Pop store whose owners (very nice people !) have probably been there for over half a century, with the business itself being there for more than a century. The prices are quite affordable. I picked up a cinnamon raisin walnut loaf, a croissant and a Boston cream doughnut. All were delicious. If you're ever over in this part of the Bronx, stop in to see this hidden old school gem, but stop in early because they close at 2 o'clock !

My discovery of this place is one of the instances of social media's power being used for good - as it was there that I discovered this place existed. Judging by what I saw online alone, it looked like a place worth checking out - so off we went. I know it sounds cliché, but Narciso definitely fits the definition of old school. From the faded sign out front to the no frills interior, it's really the bakes that are the main attraction point here. They have a good selection of breads, pastries, and cookies to choose from - so we decided to get several items to get an idea of what they offered. I sampled the apple turnover, blueberry cheesecake tart, and Linzer tart. Everything was really good - the consistency and flavors were on point; I was particularly surprised at how fresh everything stayed even the day after they were purchased. The prices were also right - I don't think I know of any other place you can get cookies for $8/lb anymore. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised at Narciso. They are definitely under the radar, but now I know they're hear I wouldn't hesitate to return.

Sugarboy's cases are filled a nice selection of mouthwatering deserts - masterfully decorated Cakes, Cupcakes, assorted Fruit Tarts, Cookies, and Rugelach. All visually enticing! Beyond some breads, they also offered large Rellenos, both with and without ham for $3. What especially impressed me was both their Rugelach and elegant Mini Danish selection, all for 3 for $1.50 - a perfectly priced small treat! (Also good if you're into portion control, given how scrumptious they look, but want to just have a tiny something to satisfy your sweet tooth!) Decided on two Ham and Cheese Rellenos, plus a Chocolate and two Nutella (YES!) Rugelach. They heated up the Rellenos so I could eat them right away. The reason I gave Sugarboy 4 not 5 stars is only because I discovered when biting into them on the subway that they weren't fully heated throughout - in fact a little chilled center, concerning considering they had ham. Other than that, all was delicious! Would recommend stopping by Sugarboy, but next time in the neighborhood I'll test out the Mini Danishes, especially the Cheese and Guava!

I ordered their classic carrot cake with raisins. The cake was moist, warm, and not too sweet. My only pet peeve is I wish the cake was two layers so that the frosting was in the middle as well. I would have also appreciated a tangier cream cheese frosting. All that to say, it was not the best carrot cake I've ever had but it was pretty damn good and they're a Bronx institution.

I was finally in the area and stopped by for a sweet treat. This location isn't quite your typical bakery where they have cakes and desserts on display and seating. It's a no frills, grab-and-go type of place. As for the carrot cake, it's soft, tastes homemade, and if you don't have an allergy or preference, definitely get the one with walnuts & raisins. The carrot cake was soft and the crunchiness of the walnuts complimented the texture well. I wish the cake was a bit more moist or fresh but the flavors were definitely there and the cream cheese frosting was so balanced yet decadent. Good try!
