Athena was the esthetician who provided me with my first brazillian (EVER!) and underarm sugaring. i was very nervous since this was my first time having either of these services done and i can't wait to be back! Don't waste your time or money at this company, they don't care about quality, just quantity in appointments. My daughter wanted a facial with a dermaplane for her birthday. She normally goes to Muckleshoot spa, but didn't want to travel that far on her one day off for the week, so we decided to try SugaringNYC in Gig Harbor. She made a 1045 appointment on April 16, 2026 through the website. The confirmation email stated 1040 and the dermaplane facial shows as a 60 minute appointment. I dropped her off and she entered the lobby at 10:30. They have no front desk staff so no one greeted her. She waited about five minutes, texted me and said she hasn't seen anybody and wasn't sure what was going on. I told her they were probably in with other appointments and to give it a few more minutes. Around 1049 someone came out and checked out a couple customers that were done and then checked her in. She was brought back to the room by Nevaeh at 1057. She took about 5 minutes to get set up, so now it's approximately 1102. She didn't put a head wrap to protect my daughter's hair nor did she have my daughter takeoff her shirt and put a robe on or at least just put a robe on to protect her clothing. She proceeded to do the shotty facial getting product and oil in my daughter's hair and clothes, the hot towels soaked my daughter's shirt. My daughter called me at 11:41 and said she was outside waiting for me. Now, I'm not a mathematician but if your appointment is at 10:40 your facial doesn't start until 1102 approximately and you're done at about 1035, paid for and out on the sidewalk at 11:41, your appointment was not 60 minutes. Nevaeh seemed frazzled stating that her manager was over booking them and that frazzled energy carried over into the lack of relaxing spa therapy that you're paying for! When my daughter called me to pick her up, I was shocked. She was already done knowing she went in late. She was very upset. Said that it was not a good experience. Said her freshly washed hair was now greasy with oil and product, and her shirt was soaked and had product on it. I immediately called and spoke to Nevaeh which I didn't know it was her. I explained that my daughter just left there from a facial, which was my birthday gift to her, and she was upset and almost in tears. I told her that my daughter's appointment was only 35 minutes to which she argued with me that she was only shorted five minutes. She didn't have anything to say about not putting a headband on or a robe. I asked her about getting a refund and she told me that she was not able to do that. I would have to email the Washington sugaring NYC email to which I did and have to date 5/4/26 have received NO reply. I've called both the Gig Harbor and the Capitol Hill sugaring locations which are owned by the same person and left messages for the manager, which I got employee's that called me back saying that they're not the manager and they'll forward it to the manager. But still have NOT received any return call from a manager with regards to the terrible spa experience. Don't waste your money at this location they clearly do not care about customer satisfaction, or providing a good spa experience. Clearly they only care about making money. read more

DO NOT LET THEM TOUCH YOUR EYEBROWS!!!! I usually don't write reviews, but I have to do it this time specifically to this place, so what happened to me won't happen to anybody else ! I was in gig harbor for work 2-3weeks ago. I went to this location for wax, but I saw a sign about eyebrows lamination and in the picture they looked beautiful. I had never pullout my eyebrows before because I was afraid they will get ruined or they will pull out too much and they will get thinner and I don't like thin eyebrows, and I saw this picture of eyebrows lamination there and all I wanted was to fix my eyebrows to stay upright and a trim. But I decided to do lamination and the girl convinced me to pulled "some out" or else it will not look good‍that's what she said.I thought they were professionals they are not on eyebrows lamination at all. I didn't know the girl who did it it was her first time ‍‍. She burned my eyebrows! At first when she finished I noticed the tails were thinners but I told myself I can't put my hair back, so I said I liked them but I noticed the girl was very nervous, I didn't know at that moment why? The next day my eyebrows started falling off! It was a nightmare for me because my eyebrows were beautiful I regretted so much. All I needed was a trim I think and she didn't even trim my eyebrows. I was so busy with work that I couldn't get a day off or half day off to go in person to talk to the manager to get a refund. I called and asked to speak with a manager, I left my name and phone number and they never returned my call. I went to a different salon to see if they could fixed my issue. At this salon they tried their best to trim them and they taught me to put powder, something I had never done before but I had no other choice now. unfortunately nothing could revert the damaged already made. At Sugaring NYC gig harbor burned and damaged the root of my eyebrows. Making them fall. If this girl whose name I won't mention yet would have say something at that very moment I would have washed it off and put some oil on them right away and maybe the Damage wouldn't have been too bad, but she knew that she had burn them and decided to say nothing, I had no idea. I trusted them with my first time ever doing something to my eyebrows and this happened, is the worst thing and experience ever. I would never ever ever go back to this place in my life, they should never let a new person without experience do a treatment to any client without supervision of someone else with experience. They don't care about their clients or to provide a safe and exceptional service, they just care about how much money they can make. This is the worst thing that could happen to me, so I will tell everyone to stay away from this place ! Specially DO NOT DO ANY FACE OR EYEBROWS TREATMENTS HERE!!! read more

I have come here many times for a lashlift and I always tip good. 20/25 % The girls I have used are always friendly and nice to talk too. But, the last service I had was like I paid for nothing. After the lift and tint was done she showed me in the mirror and I mentioned the right eye was not really lifted. ( The left eye was lifted but not very noticeable and I wasn't very pleased with that one either) She said to use the spoolie to help lift it and it will fluff by tomorrow morning. Well, I was going to a wedding the day after that and they didn't look any different from when I came in. I didn't get them wet or shower until til 24 hours after the lift. I got an email asking if my service was good and if not, I can call, so I did. Which I don't normally do because I just don't like being that person. But I have had an issue once before but at least they were lifted and tinted, just didn't like that they weren't that curled. This time it was like I paid them for absolutely nothing. So again, I called and left a nice message explaining my issue but I never received any call back. I won't go here again and do not recommend spending your money here. I am going to find someone who specializes in lash lifts and cares about customer service. It's just to hit or miss with the outcome of the service provided. read more

Staff was friendly and professional. Had brow wax/sugaring and tint. Brows were OK but my tech did not do any trimming which I really needed. I've had better brow service at Ulta, but I really like the private room at Sugaring NYC; at the Ulta brow bar you're right out in the open where everyone can watch. Also had full leg wax/sugaring. This was my first time for legs. I won't do it again. I was told it would be smoother than shaving or waxing, but it's not. It felt like at least two days growth right from the start. Jessica went above and beyond remedying this situation for me. She extended the window to fix it to accommodate how far away I live and my lack of weekday childcare. She booked an entire hour for me today with Alexis and came out to further explain that my experience was not normal and not acceptable for them and that Sam had needed more training, and they were making sure she got that and to discuss what I'm looking for and what was possible to do to get my brows to a place I was comfortable with until I can have them fully done again. Alexis was sweet and very helpful. We talked about what was good and not so good, and she told me exactly what she could do to get them shaped better for me. And what do you know, in just 15 minutes she had trimmed and tweezed them into a MUCH better shape for growing out until enough time has passed to have them laminated again. Jessica checked in with me after to make sure I was happy and that there was nothing else they could do for me. She was very thorough in making sure I was leaving satisfied, and I REALLY appreciated it. She was so sweet and genuinely cared about my experience. I didn't feel like an inconvenience or burden at all for needing to have them fixed - I felt respected, heard and taken care of. I've been waxing for years, but today I was in a pinch and needed someone available on short notice to do my legs. I've never tried sugaring before, but there was availability so I figured I'd give it a try. I am so glad I did! Athena did both my legs and she was excellent. It was a great first sugaring experience and I can totally see going back to her. She was skilled, easy to talk to, and efficient with her time. I have been going here when they opened just before the pandemic started. It's a great place because unlike most other sugar salons they are also open on the weekends which is a great option for those of us who work during the week. Currently all the girls are great but my go to girl is Felicia. She really takes her time and I always feel when I see her that she pays attention to the details. There's always those stubborn stray hairs that doesn't get caught by the sugar and she takes time to pluck those out. I highly recommend seeing her; she is my personal favorite. read more

I'll start with the honest truth, I only made an appointment because my regular wax lady cancelled my appointment and I was desperate to be hair free before a photo shoot. After experiencing sugaring I will NEVER go back to regular waxing! THIS WAS LIFE CHANGING! It was almost pain free, it took the same amount of time, it was cheaper AND I wasn't sore afterwards! Tried Sugaring after years of conventional waxing for chin/lip area. Was a big disappointment. Absolutely no results! Left salon and discovered hair was not removed. Went back in and was immediately taken care of for a second time. Left, got in the car and again no change. I decided to just call the manager, Terry, to go over options for satisfaction. I left a message for her to call. She did call back and left a message to call her back. Since then I have called and left 4 messages with no response. Wanted this service before going on 2 week vacation. I will have to find a salon while on vacation to have this taken care of. I hate leaving bad reviews but I tried diligently to resolve this matter in house. So either the esthetician needs more training or there was a problem with the sugar. On the upside, the establishment is clean and the staff is very pleasant barring the ignoring of management. I really wanted this to work so I could continue to support the business.
