Jina is amazing. She's gentle, she takes her time, and she gets the job done. She also puts this amazing warm towel on afterwards topped with a special oil. Just excellent. I have sensitive skin and have found that sugaring has worked wonders for me. The natural ingredients in the sugar not only exfoliates your skin but the hair takes longer to grow back compared to traditional waxing which can also leave ingrown. I've been seeing Alecia for over half a year now and she's been nothing short of amazing. The first time I saw her was when I wanted to try something other than the conventional waxing - and Alecia made me feel comfortable even though truth be told, I was scared shitless. Unlike normal waxing, sugaring consists of very natural ingredients. The sugar paste is made of sugar, lemon, and water, and has the consistency of thick sugar. The application itself can be a little painful because it tugs at your skin. However, she talked me through the entire process and made it as comfortable as possible. Sugaring does hurt more than wax in my opinion on your first time - I think this is because your skin is just not used to it. But it is so much better in the long run! After going back to see her once every 4-5 weeks or so for half a year, you can definitely see results (slower and thinner hair growth). What makes Alecia stand out from other people I've seen is her attention to detail; after sugaring, she also uses tweezers to eliminate the tiny hairs the sugar couldn't capture. Each appointment is $68 which is on the pricey end, but on the day that you see her, if you book your next appointment (within 5 weeks) you get 15% off which helps a lot. As a first time visitor, it's always a little nerve wracking when someone new's about to get all up in your lady bits. Have no fear, sugaring (LA) is here! They were gracious when I was a few minutes late from trekking across town in the horrendous (LA) traffic. My wax specialist was extra thorough, which is great when you're going all (the hair) out. She was quick, got the mini strays since sugaring adheres better to shorter hair, went all in the crevices. And yay that sugaring is always less painful during/after than waxing. They give you some extras at the end of the service to keep you smooth and your skin looking great, and the new client special is a great deal for those of us getting this torturous service done every 4-6 weeks. My rating is not directed towards the service, but rather the poor miscommunication of their front desk. I came in with a Groupon voucher for my appointment as a first-time client, and when I was scheduling my month-later touch-up, the receptionist said I did not have to pay for it since they were doing a promotional 2 for 1 for July. As I was walking out from my touch-up, the receptionist (same one from my first visit) said that I had to pay for today's service because the July promotion could not be combined with the Groupon voucher. She did not mention anything about not being able to apply my Groupon voucher at the time of my first appointment. I walked into my touch-up knowing that the promotion would still apply, and it wasn't until AFTER my service was done that the receptionist told me I had to pay Had I known that I was expected to pay for my touch-up, I would've still been able to reconsider my options. But because of the poor clarification, I walked out feeling very disheartened because I was charged for a service I'd expected to already be taken care of. The receptionist said there is nothing they can do about it, so this will be the only time I wish to give my business to them. read more

Shoutout to ALECIA!! If you are considering getting a Brazilian, firstly, sugaring is the way to go. Compared to regular synthetic wax or honey wax, it's minimal pain. I've had Miiah (who no longer works there), Tiffany (who's also amazing), and I've loved my results every time. I've decided to continue with their refinement program and ditch the razor for GOOD. Great customer service, but one of the worst sugaring experiences I've ever had! As a first time customer of theirs I was given Alecz as my sugarist. I've gotten sugared many times before (bikini) so I knew what to expect. Sadly, I could've never prepared for how painful this was. I felt like she had no clue what she was doing, her sugar began to soften, so she was just rubbing and pulling on my hair but hardly anything was getting pulled out. I looked down and noticed that there was sugar everywhere and I was extremely red. Eventually she finished up and I couldn't wait to leave. Over the next few hours I noticed that I began to bruise, which lasted a week. Idiotically, I had purchased the new client deal (before that first horrible encounter) which was 2 Bikinis at at a lower rate. So when next moth rolled around, I booked an appt with Alecia thinking it'd be a better experience... Again, I was let down! Thankfully it was fast, but toward the end it was getting unbearably painful. I stopped her to look down & couldn't believe that she was half way done giving me a Brazilian. I specifically asked for & paid for a Bikini! I was so upset and it looked ridiculous. Before she could cause anymore damage, I left. That day I walked out with my pores bleeding. Never will I be going back here! These techs are either not properly trained nor do they care to listen to their clients. I highly DO NOT recommend. read more

She is knowledgeable, quick and precise -and was immediately able to tell how dehydrated my skin was. She reminded me of the importance of exfoliating the skin regularly before applying oil or a moisturizer. I made my appointment online and they cancelled it automatically when I didn't receive the confirmation phone call. I was on a plane and didn't receive the call. So I arrived and had no appointment. Ridiculous. This never happened at the Santa Monica location. Also, they failed to honor my Groupon and made me pay again. Told me to call Groupon for a refund even though the deal dates were valid. Update: had to give this place another try (since they made me pay again and failed to honor my valid Groupon the first time, I bought the new client 2 for 1 deal). I went in for my second session, which they did not have on file. Then they told me that it must have expired since I didn't come back early enough. I've done waxing and I've done sugaring, and Alecia provided by far the best hair removal service I have ever had. Both in terms of procedure and results, I couldn't be happier. She assured me that the first time bikini sugaring will be the most painful. And she was right, but at least I knew what to expect. She makes you feel in control and talks you through it, reminding you the results you'll have; thinner hair and slowed growth. It's really true! She explained aftercare and provided a gentle cleanser and exfoliant cloth. Based on my results I love sugaring thanks to Alecia. I'll never go back to the discomfort, ingrown hairs and skin sensitivities that come with waxing. And it's just something you need to do once every 4-5 weeks. I've been sugaring for almost a year now but have been looking to try a new studio, so when i found Sugaring LA on Groupon I was excited at the opportunity to try them out virtually risk free. It was a rough start booking an appointment with them. I've used Groupons before and they can definitely be a pain so I made sure to review the fine print before booking an appointment at their Santa Monica location. Turns out their Groupon offer is valid exclusively at their Hollywood location, which isn't included anywhere in their fine print, so it was really frustrating when I arrived after planning my whole day around this appointment only to find out they wouldn't honor the Groupon. I emailed their corporate office, not to be compensated in anyway, but just to let them know that they should edit their fine print information on Groupon so that other clients don't have this experience. I received a very warm email in reply explaining that they've had two other recent complaints about the same exact thing and they were working on rectifying the issue. I really appreciate the length at which they went to explain the issue and reassure me that they were trying to fix it. Anyhow, after receiving that email, I was much more comfortable making a new appointment at their West Hollywood location and trying their services. My appointment was on a Sunday afternoon with Jill and she was AMAZING. She was so welcoming, shared more on Sugaring LA as a brand, and really got to know my skin before starting our session. She worked really quickly but the end result was perfect. She also gave me a lot of useful tips on aftercare that no other esthetician has ever given me. Jill really made for a wonderful experience and I'm definitely considering switching to Sugaring LA exclusively if only to book an appointment with her. read more
