Staying here ... for my dogs did not go well. They stayed a little over a week. One of my dogs chewed her paw so much she chewed off part of a pad and she came home with kennel cough. The other one lost a great deal of weight in just one week . I understand that different dogs react differently. It might be perfect for some dogs. It just did not work out for our dogs. read more

My dog Lily goes to SDD and she loves this place. I love the ppl and the service we get. Lisa is great and everyone seems to be happy and enjoy what they are doing. They also provide grooming which is so nice because you can just bring your dog for a day of play and grooming. Lily is a hound and requires a bit more attention, they are so good with her. I have used suite dog daze for several years as my go-to for boarding and day care. In general, I am pretty satisfied with their service. The employees are friendly, and my dogs always seemed comfortable going there. The one caution I would give any current customers or anyone considering this facility is to *establish boundaries early on* with regard to what they charge you. Pay close attention to what they charge you, and make sure they honor their posted pricing and don't tack on any extra services such as nail trims, baths, or other special requests. I'm not sure what exactly is going on with this place, but I have had more than a few mishaps with being overcharged, and correcting it has been so much of a headache that I am just not going back. These were sometimes due to a new employee making a mistake, but most times due to them not sticking to posted costs, and tacking on extra things that I specifically said I did not want. I made the mistake of blindly trusting what I was being charged. Don't do that. If you're boarding or just doing daycare - establish the cost *at dropoff*. Your dogs will be cared for here, but your wallet will not. read more

f i had the choice to leave zero stars i would but unfortunately thats not the case. i was going out of town last minute and called to see if they had room for 3 dogs, the woman on the phone said yes they could take them in, upon arrival i seen they had lots of dogs and made small talk with the lady. she said its spring break and super busy, when she told me my total would be $253 (drop off tuesday pick up thursday ) i handed her my card and asked about the pricing she said it was raised due to spring break , so i thought ok fine $253 ... i made her aware my female was ending her heat and brought her diapers for playtime...so i left and went with my family , returned to pick them up thursday brought them home and showered all 3 because they smelled of urine along with their toys and bag ... they told me they gave my small dog a free nail trim and my larger dog (i payed for that). so i left thinking ok nice they took them in gave her a free nail trim they said everything went fine awesomeeee this was the 23rd i dropped them off .... i check my bank days later and have a separate charge of $91and some change charged on the 29th, i call to clarify and the lady starts throwing all these extras in there saying idk why they didnt give you the correct amount the $253 was an estimate (which nobody told me) and is arguing with me because i told her it was you who charged me if you knew that there were extra fees why wouldnt you tell me ahead or let me know at pick up she said she gave them all free baths but like i said they reaked of urine when i picked them up and one of my dogs had lost 3 # during his stay... so she argued and said it was an estimate and that i was charged the correct amount in the end but ive never heard of a place giving you the break down of your cost, charging you then a few days running your card again without your consent or even letting you know ....its ridiculous and a poorly run business .will never take my pets there again and definitely recommend people seek elsewhere.. so in the end i get charged $340 for a 2 night stay "free baths" which i doubt and some horrible communication and customer service. read more

The staff is super nice here and the booking process is very organized/detailed. My Chloe has super high anxiety and is usually really afraid/timid of other dogs and new people. This was her first time at a boarder So I wasn't sure how she would do. I love that suite dog daze have cameras set up so you can watch your dog. The staff works NON-STOP, cleaning and sanitizing the kennels, letting different dogs in and out of play areas etc. I was really impressed with how hard they work. The only reason I didn't leave a 5 star is I think being a first timer a little more feedback when I picked Chloe up, just on how things went would have been nice. She was pretty shaken up for a few hours after we got home but I think for her being so high anxiety it was just a long wknd. Overall I feel like my dog was safe here, well cared for, and the staff have her great exposure as far as socializing with other dogs. I was in a bind and Suite Dog Daze was one of the few places that had availability for a few weekends I knew I was going to be out of town in May. I have a border collie and there were border collie pictures all over their website (the owner has a couple border collies of her own) so I thought it was a perfect match. When I stopped in to see the place, I told the owner that my pup had gotten out of the previous boarding place and was found, luckily, by a good Samaritan a mile or so away safe and sound. Because of that, I was looking for a place that offered a lot of activity for my dog in a relatively cageless boarding experience, while under close supervision. I asked if the dogs were ever left unattended at Suite Dog Daze and was told that they were always supervised when they were out of their kennel. Problem solved right? That weekend, I drop my dog off and was assured that he was in good hands. The next day, I was home for my brother's wedding. A couple of hours before the ceremony I received a call from someone saying she found my dog about 3 miles away from Suite Dog Daze! I called the kennel and was told they had been looking for him for about an hour so I gave them phone number of the lady who had my dog. As you can imagine, I was surprised that my dog could get so far away while being under constant supervision. While waiting at the airport the next day to fly home, I had nothing else to do so was watching the dog cam and saw the handler feed my dog 2 cups of food for 'lunch' when I specifically told them not to. I only wanted him fed in the morning and at night. Naturally, I was a little upset when I picked up my pup the following day. Hoping for an apology at the very least, I was greeted by the owner who proceeded to downplay their mistake. Actually, she didn't even acknowledge that they put my dog in an extremely dangerous situation until I brought it up. She said 'mistakes happen' and 'we are not perfect' more than any form of an apology for the egregious mistake they made! (Apparently the dog handler put the dogs out for breakfast and left them unattended. It must have been for a long time because my dog had enough time to dig underneath the fence to escape.) I picked my dog up a day early and wasn't even credited the extra day's boarding fee until I asked for it. To top it all off, as I was leaving she acted like nothing had happened and expected me to bring my dog back the following weekend! I'm lucky that my dog didn't get hit by a car considering the kennel is located on a pretty busy street. Maybe I caught them on a bad day or they just weren't on their game, but the way they handled the entire situation was shockingly bad. **To clarify a few things...I specifically asked the owner before I brought my dog in about the damage portion of her contract. She told me something along the lines of "some dogs have done some pretty extensive damage to our facility but she has never charged for it. It was just a cost of doing business so don't worry about it." (I did my due diligence to read the contract and asked questions about things I was concerned about. I got the answer I wanted to hear so it could be thrown in my face later) **Yes, I was offered an apology over the phone by someone at the facility (not the owner) AFTER I called Suite Dog Dayz to see what happened to my dog. The random person who found my dog called me before I heard anything from the kennel. I would have expected to get a call when my dog got away from the kennel, not hear it from someone else. The apology I received by the owner when I picked up my dog was half-hearted and full of excuses, similar to her response to my negative review on this site. **Lastly, I had a pretty detailed conversation with THE OWNER before I brought my dog in for boarding about his ability to get out of fenced in areas. Because of that, I was assured (like I already stated) the he would never be left unattended when he was outside. How is this my fault? All that being said, I understand people and businesses can make mistakes. What I cannot understand or respect is how the owner refuses to own up to her company's mistakes. Why not just apologize and not offer a laundry list of excuses? read more

I have had a couple of bad experiences with boarding my two large dogs, so I knew what to watch out for when I dropped them off here. The facility is beautiful, the kennels are nice and big and there are several play yards for the dogs to get exercise. They have a daily schedule with their play times, feedings and even nap times planned out. I was also super impressed with how well I was updated throughout my pooch's stay. Several Facebook posts per day with lots of photos of the dogs. I also liked that they were promoting Earthborn products, easy walkers and gentle leaders as well as other natural and healthy treats. Also, my boxer tends to have fearful tendencies and insecurity problems but Lisa was able to get him out and happily playing with all of the dogs. You can truly tell that she genuinely cares about the well being of the pets in her care. I will never use another boarding facility again. read more

(This updated review is more in regards to my experience with the owner than the daycare itself.) I hope this is updating my original post, but if not: the experience started out great. But then my dog was having some behavioral issues that I don't care for it to continue. I contacted the owner to let her know what was going on and was thinking about pulling him for a few months to work on his behavior with our trainers. I also asked if I could get a refund on our remaining days of our package. Our trainers know our dog very well and thinks getting him out of daycare so we can work on his behavior first would be a good start to correcting behaviors we don't want. (Makes sense to me, train him so he's consistent with his behavior so he doesn't get snippy with other dogs when he wants to before taking him back to daycare.) While it seems she was trying to be helpful at first, I felt like her response was to bash our trainers and try to sell more services at her daycare. (She's a business owner, sure, do your thing.) However, don't try to guilt me for trying to be a responsible dog owner by telling me I'm doing a disservice to my dog by not taking him to daycare anymore. A simple "Thanks and hope things get better with him" or "hope to see you guys again" and a "no we don't offer refunds" would've sufficed. I will not be bringing my dog back after we get him sorted out. read more

Our GSP Remy goes to SDD for 1/2 days of " doggy camp". She has also done full boarding camp, while we had to travel and were not able to take her. I looked around for a quality boarding kennel to keep my dogs when I am out of town. I visited several in the area, and tried another one before coming to this place. After I took the tour and talked with the staff, I felt very confident leaving my dog AND my cat at Suite Dog Daze. I was relieved to learn that their staff are pet cpr and first aid certified. My cat is diabetic, so this eased my fears. My dog can be a handful, so I worry leaving him with strangers, or leaving him in new places. The staff reassured me that they are trained in behavior and are dog trainers themselves. They have been amazing with my strong willed boy! Thank you for the great care you have given my pets. If I could give 0 stars I would. They are deceitful and overcharge an insane amount for dog grooming. After receiving a quote for approximately $45 for a basic bath and haircut/groom for a 13 lb dog, they told us the total was $75 when picking him up. They refused to tell us (or were too stupid to tell us) what exactly they had done or what products were used to warrant an additional $30. They voluntarily said he was very well behaved and easy to groom. They will lie to you over the phone and then charge you much more once you try to pick your pet up. I am involved with a group of people who do informal rescue of dogs whose time is up at various animal control facilities. When we cannot find a foster home we pay to board the dogs we have rescued until a foster or permanent forever home can be found. We had been told about Suite Dog Daze and took one of our rescue dogs there. It was a possibility that at the end of a month if we didn't have a foster or adopter that he MIGHT be taken into the rescue program at Suite Dog Daze. It was difficult if not impossible to have any direct communication with Suite Dog Daze. Lisa was never available and the employees always said that we would have to speak with Lisa to get our questions answered. Emails went unanswered and phone calls were not returned. Our rescue dog was brought to Suite Dog Daze with anti anxiety medication prescribed by his veterinarian. We repeatedly asked Lisa if a refill was needed and did not get a response. We also asked before taking him there what kind of training methods were used and we were assured that only positive reinforcement was used with the dogs. Finally, after a complete lack of response we drove from Portland to Suite Dog Daze to check on our rescue dog. An employee who was at the desk was at the very least honest with us although we were shocked and saddened. We were told that our rescue boy had been subjected to training with an electronic shock collar (something that we disapprove of, were not informed of, and is viewed negatively by certified Animal Behavior Specialists). We were also told that Lisa, the owner of Suite Dog Daze, in direct contradiction of a veterinarians prescription and without informing us, had unilaterally decided to not give our rescue boy any of the medications that had been brought with him. I asked to see our rescue dog. I was taken to a small room that was filled with various sized portable kennels (not indoor outdoor runs that are used at every other boarding kennel I've seen). The lights were off in the room, it was pitch dark. There were 3 dogs in the room each in their own kennel. There were no toys, NO beds and NO water in the any of the dog's kennel enclosures and of course there was no access for them to be able to potty outside. Lisa, the owner of Suite Dog Daze calls herself a behaviorist on their website. That is false. She is not a behaviorist and does not have the required education and experience needed to call herself a behaviorist (see the Animal Behavior Society site to see the requirements for legally calling oneself a behaviorist). She also doesn't even have any certification as a trainer from any of the accredited training organizations. It is a scam when she states that she is a behaviorist. When we expressed our dismay and disgust to Lisa about how our rescue dog was treated at her facility - she went on the offensive. She even kicked our dog out - which was laughable as we immediately came home and began making arrangements to place him somewhere safe where he would not be shocked and would be given the medications his veterinarian had prescribed for him. She also began to change the charges for his stay. A month had been pre-paid, but Lisa said that now because he was not going to be going into her rescue program the $594/month charge was not valid and we owed more money. The whole experience was a nightmare for us, but most importantly for the poor dog we brought to Suite Dog Daze. read more

Good experiences with doggy day care but we've stopped going after not feeling satisfied with an overnight stay. While I was out of town, I received a group/generic email about a kennel cough exposure in the facility. I felt confident as I had just gotten a booster for my dog (as you should every 6 months when due to high exposure risks like dog parks and kennels). However, I felt the customer satisfaction piece was missing. Not only did I get to stress over my dogs health, I didn't feel well informed about how she was doing. I never received a personal call or email. When I expressed my frustrations to Lisa, I was given excuses and no validation. I know there are good intentions here, but the business aspect sorely needs some work. Apologizing and validating will go so much further with customer relations. read more

I am so impressed. I am incredulous at the one and two stars. I am an older person and we have a high maintenance dog-- a very smart, well-trained neutered male purebred German Shepherd. He has a lot of traits unique to his breed. I could see that our dog was happy and the dogs were all very well cared for. We suggested that they not groom him, for he has issues with anyone who tries to touch him & his nails, including us. They could proceed at their own risk. But he returned happy and energetic with a new light in his eyes. He has not had a playdate since April so we were a little concerned. Now we plan on taking him each month, just for fun and a nail trim because the people here are very skilled. How I chose this place is: I drove by them for nearly 3 years to get to work. It was an interesting way to pass the time while sitting in traffic to be stalled in front of this business. And during that time, I could see that the dogs were well-tended and were regularly exercised in the fresh air. read more

I have never written a review, but in this case I feel this is warranted. We stopped by Suite Dog Daze and inquired into what they had to offer, as we were new to Salem and have an 8 month old puppy. We wanted to have a puppy cut on our boy and liked what we were told by a lady behind the counter. We brought our dog in the next day for grooming and was told about the "puppy cut" he would receive. No phone call to tell us he was done. So after 6 hours we went to pick him up. We paid $70 for our "puppy clip" and a young girl brought our dog out to us. Our boy looked like he got mixed up in a lawnmower! He was shaved unevenly, down to the skin in some places. The worst "grooming" of a dog I have ever seen!!! Our dog has done nothing but lick his raw spots/skin burns since being home. We're so upset that a place that is supposed to care for your pets could not take the time to hire a groomer that knew what they were doing ...especially for the amount they charge. I feel like hanging a sign around my dogs neck stating "Suite Dog Daze did this to me!" To say the least, we will never return here....if they can't groom properly, they can not care for my dog for the day or overnight! Do due diligence...pay attention to reviews. read more

From good to bad experiences. I believe my dog had fun playing with other dogs during her 2 week boarding/training. BUT the pricing I looked up online and asked while on the phone with an employee matched up so I decided to give it a try. Only to find when I picked up that the price was more despite my conversation about pricing they would not honor the price they originally told me!! The individuals working with my dog were not there when I picked up...again I called ahead to make sure someone would be there to go over what was taught so I could continue at home. I had to come back a few days later to get an explanation of training (some of which I believe was to harsh). Several items were not returned to me...good thing I had to make that second trip to pick up the belongings (toys and food dish). The facility isn't as clean as it should be as a family members dog who was there at the same time contracted worms!! Hoping my girl doesn't end up with them too! Do not use this business as your doggie boarding/training needs. When talking with the owner she was very rude and less than interested in addressing my concerns or even apologizing for the issues. Being able to see the dogs on camera is nice but also creates red flags when you see lights totally dark and music blaring in the kennel area with it full of barking dogs! Then to have that camera not available...seems odd. read more

I wish I could give negative stars, but unfortunately I have to give at least one. I had been looking for months to rescue a dog and had been doing research on places. I live in Keizer and wanted to rescue locally. I had been in and out of the Willamette Humane Society, but couldn't seem to find the right fit. I had looked up other rescue shelters in Salem and came across Suite Dog Daze. I went in there and they asked me what size and breed of dog I was looking for. Then they brought me into a back room to greet one of the rescue dogs that was a pretty close fit to what I had been looking for. I stayed in there playing with the dog for about 45 minutes asking the lady who worked there questions upon questions about his background and his temperament. She told me they had only had him for a few weeks so all they knew was that so far he played great with other dogs and he is super sweet and mellow and very trainable as he was still young. So I fell in love instantly. In order to make sure this dog was a good fit I came back to visit two more times. After seeing him multiple times I filled out the application and had them do a home check to see how he reacted in an apartment environment. He was doing fine so the Suite Dog Daze worker left him there without taking any payment from me or looking over my application. She said she would just take payment the following Monday. So on Monday I paid and his adoption price with $350 so not cheap at all. A week had gone by and I had noticed he was having bad aggression and severe separation anxiety to the point where he would howl every time I left his sight. I left him home to go to the grocery store and he had defecated in his crate and eaten it, had chewed a hole in my carpet, and bent his crate to the point he had hurt his own face. I called Suite Dog Daze to ask if they had notice any of this behavior and the first thing the trainer said was that, yes he had separation anxiety to the point where he couldn't be left at the shelter at night. I was furious because they never once disclosed this information with me and they did a home check so they were fully aware I lived in an apartment. I decided to take him to the vet and speak with another trainer outside of Suite Dog Daze. He was on some medication to calm him down while I tried to train him and he just got worse. I had to surrender him to Suite Dog Daze, but I was very emotional because I keep my pets for life, but he was biting people in my family and would not let me leave his side. When I brought the dog back I told them everything and they said they were sorry, that they would take him back, but could not refund me the money. I also told them about the medication he was on and said he needed to be weened off of it. Two days later I find out that he has been adopted by a family friend of mine coincidentally. I asked her if the rescue shelter told her about the medication and she said no. So they stopped giving the dog the medication I left with them cold turkey and did not inform her of his aggression. Overall this place does not disclose information, they do not refund your money back, they are over priced, and after going in there four to five times within the span of two weeks I never once saw the owner that is supposedly there all the time. On a side note my coworker just rescued a dog and they did not tell her that the reason this dog was not fixed yet was because this dog was pregnant. DO NOT GO TO SUITE DOG DAZE. They are liars and are only in this for the money. read more
