East Blue Sushi is a great spot for AYCE! I'd say it compares to Umiya! Their pricing is pretty standard for dinner at 32 dollars per person, and there's a pretty good variety of rolls. The staff is super hospitable and friendly, and the appetizers and desserts are portioned to sample and not fill up. The rolls on the other hand are very heavy! And their presentation is top tier! They are also flavorful. Room for improvement: I did find the fried rice beef to be undercooked and lacked flavor. The cucumber salad was not fresh and soggy. Went for Sunday AYCE lunch with my friend & her very active 2 y/o son. First off, getting there was tricky since I was coming from 1604 eastbound and my map app was taking me further because of all of the construction. I had to backtrack on Green Mountain Road, turn around & get off Lookout Road, take the turnaround, get back on 1604 & immediately exit on the frontage road & enter the driveway. Too crazy!! When I got inside I was pleasantly surprised at the nice decor & wooden booths. The place wasn't crowded as I'm guessing it's still new and tricky to get to. My friend lives nearby & told me it used to be an I-Hop which is why it was easy for her to find. We sat by the window in the back and were greeted by Lee, our waiter. Since it was a Sunday, it was an All-Day Menu price of $31.91 with a 90-minute limit that was stated. He showed us the menu and we perused it pondering what to start with and how big the portions were? I was craving Shrimp Tempura so I ordered the Appetizer Combo of Shrimp & Vegetable Tempura. I also ordered a Poke Salad and asked if they had any regular House Salads? Lee said he could make me one with just Mixed-Greens and a Sesame Dressing and I was fine with it. He told me it wasn't on the menu but he would ask the kitchen to make it for me! Nice! I also ordered Sashimi: 2 pieces of Tuna and 2 pieces of Yellowtail. I also ordered a Green Dragon Roll. The Poke Salad looked enticing on the uploaded photos but mine was 90% Salmon and 10% Tuna even though I asked Lee if it was Tuna that they used? It's pretty and a really good portion size if you love Salmon. I think it needed more dressing. If I ordered it next time, I'd ask for Ponzu sauce so I can have a more damp Poke Salad. I'll also ask if they'll use a predominance of Salmon? My friend ordered Chicken Lo Mein Noodles for her son, Rainbow Roll, a large Mango Tango Roll and the Ruby Mountain Roll which was tall and abundant! You certainly get your money's worth and we were impressed! She ordered Mongolian Beef but it was way too salty and she couldn't eat it so she told Lee and he took it back. For dessert I wanted to try the Affogato and had asked Lee if it has an Espresso shot? He said it did but it tasted like plain coffee to me as it was flat and not rich and bold like a regular Espresso tastes. For the most part, the Sushi Rolls are huge, if you want a mixture of Sushi and some Chinese entrees, you can get your fix here. It's an Americanized Sushi/Chinese take. Lee was very accommodating and friendly to my friend's very active son who was bouncing around and watching videos on his iPad so we could eat and talk. Lee wasn't annoyed by it and was engaging with him which made us feel more at ease. I enjoyed sushi here! One of the few places I've seen that offers all you can eat that is mainly just a sushi restaurant. Currently doing a soft opening, but the menu so far has a great list! My server was brand new, but she did an amazing job to explain the menu and rules to me. The rolls that I got were extremely delicious! I would recommend the Hokkaido Pearl Roll! Only thing I did not like is that they limit you to 2 rolls per order per person. So my friend brought me here this past weekend and I really had a great time. The inside is set up really nice and love the decore. The staff was all friendly and our waitress was very kind. She helped us understand the food and made great recommendations to us we really enjoyed. This is a buffet place so you can order as much as you like ($31.95 per person so gotta get your fill on food). We tried a good amount of food here and was not disappointed. We had the spicy tuna and salmon chips and they were so good. My favorite one though was the salmon chips so delicious! We tried many of the nigiri sushi and the smoked salmon was great. The tuna was also good and not bad on texture. We also did try the iruka salmon eggs and they are a bit salty but wasn't too bad either. We had a roll I believe called the flaming barbie which was great. It had spicy crab with salmon, cream cheese, avocado and good sauce definitely recommend. I love that they have a different selection than Umiya which I go to quite a bit. My favorites so far are the spicy tuna chips, rice crispy, yellowtail jalapeño, quail egg shooter, steak teriyaki (thick cuts), yuzu yellowtail and the chicken karaage. Please know the portions are huge compared to other AYCE places. The sashimi cuts are huge; two bite pieces. The Mongolian beef, karaage, and the poke salad were huge portions. The service is wonderful, our drinks stayed full, they gave us plenty of napkins, and kept our table clean. The portion sizes are impressive for an all you can eat, me and my husband both had to roll out the door due to eyes being bigger than our stomachs lol. My husband got the phoenix roll and spider rolls, along with chicken teriyaki, shrimp fried rice, and a scoop of ice cream for dessert. Steak Tataki- This was delicious and had a light citrus flavor to it . It looks raw but tasted cooked through. Loved it. Crab Rangoon's- these were yummy and comes with a red dipping sauce. Very creamy and crunchy. Fried vegetable rice- Flaming barbie roll- this was a 8 piece sushi roll. Sooo good! It was very creamy with a kick of spice. I deff recommend trying this one. It didn't need any extra sauce. Cajun Albacore - this was surprisingly good. It tasted similar to a black peppered turkey. Pork belly - these were good. I wish they were crispy but worth trying. Nigiri - we tried smoke salmon, Blackened tuna, and ikura salmon eggs. I wasn't a fan of the eggs due to the texture and how salty they were but the salmon and the tuna were really good. East Blue's main competition is Umiya. They both have the same flare and aesthetic inside, but East Blue just edging Umiya out in traditional Japanese look to it. The service is top notch, at least for us. Drinks came out quick, and were refilled almost as soon as they went empty. Waitress even gave us more ginger and condiments without even asking. That's some good service! She took the time to explain what everything on the menu meant since we were first timers. Food is amazing, with some caveat. They fall short in some aspects compared to Umiya, but make up for it easily in other areas. First of all, the menu is far more expansive than Umiya, including some Chinese staples like orange chicken or Mongolian beef. The Nigiri menu is HUGE. The dessert menu has more choices. The hand roll option is larger. Where they do fall short are on SOME appetizers. The spicy edamame was just boiled edamame with a spicy seasoning on top. Very little effort. Everything else was swell. Overall, while Umiya and East Blue are two peas of the same pod, I think East Blue edges out Umiya for dinner. As for the lower rating found here, I think it was just new restaurants woes/growing pains. Our visit was seamless and painless! You should definitely give a try for dinner. I have yet to try lunch, but if it's anything like its competition, I'm sure it will be amazing. read more

Naturally, sushi was the call of destiny. "All you can eat," they said. Music to our ears. Ordered the first round, beautiful presentation, fresh, and full of promise. But that's where the magic ended. The runner dropped off the food and vanished quicker than a cold pint on a summer's day. No check-in, no refills, no second round. So what started as all-you-can-eat turned into all-you-can-wait. I could've easily knocked back another couple of rolls, maybe even a cheeky lager, but no one seemed too fussed about that. The buzz I earned out on the course slowly faded, replaced by the kind of silence only bad service can bring. To be fair, the sushi itself was top-notch. Balanced, fresh, genuinely delicious. The crispy rice is our favorite appetizer here, has a nice kick to it. I like this place a lot because there's so many rolls to choose from, and sashimi as well. When you walk in the entrance still resemble the IHOP layout but that's where it ends. The decor is very tasteful and very cute and cozy. We were greeted by the friendly staff and sat us down very quickly for a Friday night. This place doesn't have a full bar but their cocktails are well done and heavy handed but very tasty! As for the food, this surprised me the most. I recently went to and pretty well known AYCE Sushi spot and was mediocre. But I guess my bar was set too high? Not until this experience. I started off with whitefish and it tasted so good I want more and made me a want to explore their offerings. I went with the mussels which was a bit heavy on the sauce but still very good. I also have to mention that the food all came out fresh. Especially the cooked dishes like the gyoza and combo fried rice. The sushi was indeed the star of the show for me. The combination of flavors they had with their rolls are very well done. I mean it's not all stuffed with cream cheese or covered and soaked with some sort of mayo or spicy tuna. Upon entering you're politely greeted and taken to your seat, which they have plenty and depending on how busy they can accommodate larger groups. The kind people that take your order are completely helpful, being the first time going didn't know how it worked. She mentioned that the dinner menu is all you can eat option, it's a bit pricey but it's worth it. You have a large variety of sushi's, Asian dishes, appetizers, soups and salads and many more. I started with Crab Rangoon's which were cooked perfectly, then went with a Caterpillar Roll, this place didn't disappoint, the roll was expertly prepared. Then my taste buds were activated with Teriyaki Steak, cooked the meat with the right amount of sauce and was delicious from the first bite to the last. But then I tried the Orange Chicken and it too was delicious, cooked to leave the right amount of crunch on the chicken. But it could be overwhelming with so many options, one thing to know, if you choose the all you can eat option the plate are relatively small so you can choose other menu items, on that note the sushi's are a little bit bigger so take into consideration. Now they do offer a A La Carte menu if you're not that hungry. But overall this is very good option, the people are a big help in guiding you on the menu options.
