Party of 6 with reservations. Now, I don't insist that we be seated exactly on time, but the seating was 20 minutes late. We didn't see a waitress for 15 minutes (very busy - she finally acknowledged us). We didn't see our food for an hour. 5 out of 6 food was good but not exceptional. 1 was not done and after everything, (crowded room, very loud and tables crammed in) my wife had had it and didn't want it. She wants the meat medium to medium well. This was rare, so she sent it back and just went to the salad bar again. No offer to comp with a dessert (which we can't eat) or a gift card. They didn't charge her for the entree, but did for the salad bar. So, don't go when it's busy. This is the second time in two weeks we were not seated at our reservation time. Last time, we waited over an hour - again- with a reservation. I get restaurants are having it tough, but when folks have a res, that means seated within a couple minutes. Both my wife, I and others in our party have worked night clubs. A reservation is made for a reason. It isn't a suggested time, it is a reserved time. Once, OK, it happens. Twice, not OK. I was really looking forward to coming here and made sure we had a reservation, since they are always booked up. So nice to be next to the Mississippi. The service was very good, as was the salad bar. I didn't like the pasta salad, seemed bland to me and the little Irish muffins are def an acquired taste, as well as the Irish potatoes. ( we wanted to try something new.) Our fish wasn't bad, just not fab. Our biggest disappointment was our complimentary 'cake', which we had been told was in honor of our wedding anniversary. it was a blob of what seemed to be gummy angel food cake topped with whipped topping and a drizzle of chocolate syrup and caramel. What a letdown, especially since they had cheesecake and a delectable chocolate cake on the menu. I'm thinking they keep it in the freezer, to be pulled out for bdays and anniversaries, hence the gummy consistency. This is your classic old time super club and was great. It felt like the type of club we grew up going to with our parents. It was the water and had a great view. The steaks were very tasty (ribeye). Nice thickness and cooked to perfect temperature (medium rare). The Irish potatoes were excellent as well plus you had the salad bar that was another meal if you wanted it. I have been here many times. The walleye dinner was excellent, the salad bar excellent and the ice cream drinks were excellent. I brought a group of nine and they set us up at a table at the window overlooking the river. And get this, they even sent a van to pick us up and drop us off in Trempealeau! Went here last week with family. We had reservations and were seated promptly. My husband and I had steak, perfectly done and delicious. My DIL had Tips which she loved. Ate here while pregnant, so that was probably my first mistake as I couldn't stomach a whole lot. I ordered an appetizer for meal, the one that comes with the fried mushrooms. Towards the end of my meal, the server I had was overheard by my friend and I that I shouldn't have wasted her time by just ordering an appetizer and that I probably wouldn't tip her. Been here twice and doesn't disappoint. Very nice ambiance and busy! We stopped here from our camping trip and I ordered the broiled cod with Irish Potatoes. The best broiled cod i have ever had. And my bf had the battered fish fry. The beef tips are also delicious. Cheese curds are fantastic as well. The salad bar is a great addition so may tasty options. We enjoyed everything so much. We love trying Wisconsin Supper Clubs and Sullivan's did not disappoint! The view is the star of the show with beautiful views of the Mississippi. We were Lucie enough to watch the American Queen steamboat go by as we were eating dinner. The bar area is also quite nice. We started with old fashioned cocktails which were very good. Service was very friendly and prompt. We love a good salad bar, and this one is solid. We did miss the traditional hot bacon dressing and cheese spread. For dinner we had the ribs, tips, and Cajun shrimp. It was just okay. The ribs were fall off the bone and tasty. The tips were well seasoned but over cooked. There were exactly two shrimp included on a bowl filled with sauce. We thought it was just sauce! We finished the meal with a pink squirrel which was creamy and yummy but didn't have much booze flavor. Overall it was a very nice experience. It wasn't the best food for the price but there's not many options for dinner around the river if you'd like to go out to eat. Your best bet would be to drive into Trempeleau for some more variety. Sullivan's is larger inside than it looks, and is set up to accommodate a large party or a table for two. Parking can be a hassle because the lot is fairly small but if you go off peak hours it shouldn't be too difficult finding a spot. It's definitely a charmer, the interior is reminiscent of what supper-clubs around the state used to look like. The decor is a little dated and dark, but comfortable and not too loud. Our waitress was wonderful and kept a good eye on us. She was really friendly and professional and did a great job. My husband ordered a drink from the bar that wasn't prepared correctly so that was a disappointment. It wasn't even a fancy drink, two ingredients, so the bartender must have been new. The salad bar was ok. There were gloves available and required for use and plates were at individual tables to prevent contamination. But, the salad plates were tiny. I barely had room on my plate for salad and a roll. And because of Covid we were not allowed to go up for more salad since plates were not available up at the salad bar. We started with the baked crab and artichoke dip. While a little oily it was delicious and I could have eaten the entire plate on my ow. Then we had both ordered one of the specials -tenderloin tips. They were cooked well but smothered in way too much sauce. I thought mine was so salty it ruined the dish for me. I would come back, hopefully earlier in the day so I could see the beautiful views of the river that it is known for. read more

So been going there for many years and last night was 2 thumps down . Our food sat in kitchen to long and came out luke warm . And I got the surf & turf and the steak was very chewy & tough , but Lobster was ok just luke warm . But the salad bar was great . I don't mind paying the higher prices if the food is HOT when it comes to the table . read more

Great food, great service and view of the Mississippi River and bluffs that is totally amazing.

We stopped here again and they did not disappoint. Started with a couple of delish Old Fashions at the bar. I tried to get a picture of the Cheese curds, but they went too fast. We also tried their onion rings. I don't know how they do it, but the breading they use sticks perfectly to the onion so you actually bite through the onion and it doesn't all come out with the first bite. The Fish must have the same breading with is really part of the secret of their fried goods. We also had the broiled cod which was excellent especially with the side of melted butter. The Grasshopper was still amazing and the chocolate mousse cake were both devoured almost immediately after hitting the table. My favorite supper club in WI! read more

We arrived about 20 minutes early for our reservation so we had a drink at the bar. Old fashioned was decent but pretty watered down. The two bartenders seemed unhappy, didn't smile, and didn't hardly speak. It felt like none of the staff got along (bartenders, waitstaff, kitchen) as you could hear them complaining about various things and just looking disgruntled. We finally got our table about 30 minutes after our reservation. The food was underwhelming. My wife and I each had the tenderloin. Average steak at best. Salad bar was solid. For the price, there are much more appealing steak option in the area IMO. read more

We visited Trempealeau the other day and we dined at Sullivan's. I have to say the people were very friendly and accommodating when we changed our reservation! Definitely a busy place! Our food was good, salad bar was fresh and the soup and bread was really good. My only complaints were the dinner rolls on the salad bar were cold. Not room temperature, literally cold. I think warm rolls are far more appetizing!! Lastly, the mushrooms that were served with my beef were definitely out of a can. I definitely prefer fresh mushrooms that are sautéed vs out of the can! The food was nothing special. In fact we were looking forward to some good supper club ribs and seafood. First the salad bar. The bagged shredded lettuce was a bit brown and nothing on the salad bar had been prepared fresh. Everything came from a bag. Even the rolls. The beer cheese soup was processed and felt like Elmer's glue in the mouth. My broiled seafood came served watery and frankly tasteless. Their deep fried little potatoes were a joke. Something that came from a bag frozen absolutely and tasteless. It seemed the kitchen just warmed things up. The tenderloin tips were served gray and were watery and overdone. The ribs seemed as if they have been held in a slow cooker for days as they weren't a bit crispy and bbq'd as one would expect a rack of supper club ribs to be. They weren't even a rack of ribs. The wild rice with my meal was probably from a box (salty, boring), and the mushrooms over my petite tenderloin were straight out of the can (really? not even sautéed). The s salad bar was average with soup that was completely done. The broiled seafood platter did not have much flavor. My husband had the ribs, tips and shrimp. The service and high quality dining experience at Sullivan's hasn't changed. We've been coming here for years, for special occasions, as we live an hour away. I was a little worried it might not be the same, after all this craziness of 2020. Tonight's reservation was for our 28th wedding anniversary. We ordered the filet mignon dinner x2, it was cooked perfectly (medium). Also had a glass of local Elmaro Rosa wine. Service was fantastic also, Thanks Nicole B! (the server name on our receipt) They do ask you to wear a mask to your table, as well as any time that you're not at your table. The salad bar is the same except that you wear a disposable food glove to handle the utensils there. I personally don't subscribe to the big scamdemic but I will dance (the dance) to support such a fantastic small business. It really wasn't that inconvenient. If you are visiting Trempealeau, there are 3 (seriously) dining options. 1. The Trempealeau Hotel (Burgers/steaks/Pasta) 2. The Sullivan's (Steak/Crabs) 3. Pizza Corral (as name suggests) Among those three, the sullivan's is the most expensive. They offer juicy steaks and sea foods along with their fresh salad bar. The decor is very dark and slightly grandpa-ish. But i guess it's a part of their charm. The dinign area overlooks the beautiful view of MIssissippi river. read more
