Mediocre food, quick service, nice decor Our family of 4 stopped by Sultan Mediterranean Grill for an early dinner after visiting Arches park in Aug 2024. We like Mediterranean cuisine and picked Sultan based on good reviews and recommendations. The restaurant was nicely decorated and had an ok atmosphere. We were the only visitors at the time. The service was quick and polite. The food unfortunately was somewhat disappointing. Selection was good, presentation excellent, but somehow they managed not to do the food right. I would give it 3.5 stars if I could, but I'm making it 4 hoping that the owners read this review and make things better. See detailed dishes description below. I'm hesitant to recommend this restaurant but it seems they have potential. I would give it another chance. Appetizers Two appetizers combo: Hummus and Babaganoush - Babaganoush was good. Hummus was tasteless :( Falafel - this was one of the worst falafels I had. Not much taste and it was dry. Presentation was gorgeous though :) Entrees Sultan Kebab - this one had an excellent great flavor created by a perfect combo of spices. However, they managed to overcook it badly so it was completely dry. It felt sad really that such a flavorful dish was ruined. Chicken Kebab - this one was the best of 4 entrees we had. Chicken was done perfectly, was tender and flavorful. Beef Shish - this was also very flavorful and the meat was done right. Unfortunately, it was somewhat over salted which made it less enjoyable. Cute little place, ambiance is very Georgian, nice ethnic decoration and music. We came at 7 and had to wait 45 minutes to be seated. They do not take reservations like most places in Moab and do not serve any alcohol. After we were seated we ordered tzatziki and the falafel, both were pretty good. I ordered the Lamb chops with truffled fries and OMG the lamb chops were absolutely amazing and worth coming here just for that!!! My husband got the chicken shawarma and he liked it. I tried it and I didn't like the spices so much but he liked it but their garlic mayo was delicious. My lamb chops were still the best. Wonderful Mediterranean food at this spot just off the main drag in Moab. Food refreshingly authentic and tasty. Had a delicious beet and quinoa salad with chicken. Ingredients fresh, deliciously seasoned. Chicken marinated and grilled - on point. Shout out to the baklava. A classic middle eastern version of this dessert - made with cardamom and orange blossom water and all pistachios. It's not as sweet as Greek-style (no honey), but rich and creamy and delicious. VEGAN specific review. I first ate here in 2019 and found it enjoyable then. I'm happy to see they survived Covid, and I ate here twice over the last week. The falafel itself is excellent, with nice grain and texture, not the of the mushy variety. The Angry Cali appetizer is also excellent. Salad and fries as well. I've yet to try something i did not enjoy. Staff is friendly and accommodating and the restaurant itself seemed to have interior and furnishing upgrades that are nice. The only negative i have is that the restaurant can be loud when full (mostly hard sound-reflecting surfaces), but this does not subtract from the food or experience. I'll keep returning. read more

We were vacationing in Moab for a week and we went here twice as it was so good. A warm welcome upon entering the restaurant, we were seated promptly and wait staff was friendly. My wife loves Mediterranean possibly more than almost any other food. So as soon as we saw the place, it was immediately on the breaks and hanging a U'y. When we got inside, it was cute, definitely set up in a nice way with the decor I think you would expect. Everyone was friendly and we were seated and serviced right away even though they had other tables and more people trickling in. They brought up humus and bread for the table. (For the life of me I can't remember the name.) The bread was light and tasty. But the humus. I DO NOT like humus. I don't like the flavor, I don't like the texture, I don't like the kind of dry/chalky feel garbanzo beans give my mouth. This is not the humus I have been served all my life! This was magic on my tongue! It was insanely tasty and smooth in texture. I want to go back for more! The rest of our dishes were just as delicious. We ate it all and enjoyed it! I just wish we had one here in Austin! I guess we will have to figure out another trip to Moab! read more

As Ken would say, "SUBLIME!" If you're not a Barbie or Ryan G. fan, then you may not get this reference. Either way, you should go dance into Sultan Mediterranean Grill for a dine or two. There's nothing that sounds more appetizing than fresh, nutritious and satisfying mediterranean flavors after a long day of hiking. We tried their Babaganoush, Chicken Shawarma Plate, Chicken Kabobs and Artichoke Salad w/ Chicken Shawarma. My favorite was the Artichoke Salad! Its dressing was deliciously tart, while the salad was rewardingly filling. I'd say the most well-rounded option is the Chicken Shawarma Plate, though. You get a lil' bit of brightness, a lil' bit of warmth, alil' bit of spice and alil' bit of zest with all the components included (go see photo for proof). Beyond the food, you'll find kind and attentive service, as well as, a well-dressed restaurant that can serve a party of two or ten. Going back? We were looking for something other than burgers, Italian or pizza and stumbled on this gem. It's not much to look at from the outside, but we are in Moab Utah not a large city like New York Chicago. Parking was a challenge and not easy to find a spot. From the time we walked in, we were seated immediately and our server couldn't have been more attentive and kinder. We looked at the menu and there were so many different choices of Mediterranean foods from Shawarma to kebabs and everything in between. The food came out hot with a good presentation. We ordered extras on the side, Taziki and tahini which had perfect amounts served. Dinner was amazing! The spices on the meats were delicious. I had the Shawarma sandwich which I asked for a side of tahini, but it also came with a garlic mayonnaise on top. The two paired together made this sandwich flavorful (so if you like an extra kick of tastiness get tahini on the side) My husband had a kebab and said it was a great cut of meat, tender, juicy with the perfect amount of spices. There is no liquor served here so don't expect to get a beer or a glass of wine or anything else, they do have beer but it's nonalcoholic. For dessert there's ice cream or of course the customary Mediterranean dessert like baklava. We were so full from dinner that we didn't even have dessert unfortunately. Had to drive from Vegas to Moab last Tuesday. We had our Jeep Rubicon so it was a stiff, bumpy ride with a ton of winds to make it even more fun. After seven plus hours on the road we just wanted an easy, quick dinner. Never tried this place before but boy are we glad we did! Ok - forget the ambiance - this was all about feeding hungry tourists, good food quickly. Just a medium sized space with cheap tables and chairs. But! You sit down, get a server almost immediately and are eating before you know it. The servers were friendly, not to chatty (way to busy) but treated you well. We went with their spicy hummus which was silky smooth and had a great hot sauce on it (guessing some Harissa in there) along with ground oregano and sumac. Wonderful flavor served with either carrot and celery sticks or pita (in our case both). Pita was warm cut into nice size pieces for scooping up the hummus. Dinner was chicken shawarma and a second entree of kebabs. Descriptions below. Food was terrific! Cooked well with great flavor and came out of the kitchen fast. We are all over the map when we eat at Moab, almost always dining at least one night at Desert Bistro (best high end food in the city)! Food poisoning from hell from this place. We are fighting for our lives the day after eating here. Completely drained from throwing up & going to the bathroom all night. We can't travel without checking out the Mediterranean restaurants, especially their falafels. We arrived a little before noon, and we were the only customers. Our server greeted us right away. We ordered appetizers of hummus w/pita bread and Babaganoush with fresh veggie sticks (carrots and celery). I liked the option of the veggie sticks so we didn't load up on bread. I found the hummus probably one of the best I've had. They do have the option of Spicey Hummus, but we found the regular just perfect. We both agreed that the Babaganoush was too smoky and neither of us cared for it. I ordered the Falafel sandwich with the falafel and other ingredients covered with their green tahini sauce. It was flavorful, just enough spice for my taste. The restaurant was comfortable and clean, and the service was fast and friendly. If you like Mediterranean food, this is the place to go. read more

Service was friendly enough but slower for our table. Food was tasty but nothing exceptional. Hummus seemed to have excessive amount of oil that it was more liquidy than hummus texture, and I was curious if the pita was handmade. We also ordered chicken shish kebab and gyro platter, they were large portions which was appreciated since we were hungry from hiking. Overall it was satisfactory but uncertain if we would return. A cute little spot in Moab for a tasty Mediterranean lunch or dinner! I was pretty famished after completing several hikes within Arches National Park. I caught a craving for something fresh and healthy-ish. Looked up some spots that were nearby and found this place. The reviews looked great as did the food photos, so I headed there for a late lunch. Sultan is located off the main road but it isn't in the downtown area. It was nice to be able to find a place where there weren't flocks of crowds around. Parking was a breeze and I was able to find a spot right in front of the restaurant (they have their own dedicated parking lot). Walked in and was surprised to find that the place wasn't busy at all. I came at an odd time (Around 3:00ish) so that probably worked to my advantage. I was greeted promptly and directed to a small table in the main dining area. A young gentleman brought me a menu and some water. It seems like they employ mostly high school/college students here. Nothing wrong with this of course, just noticed that all of the staff were really young (but all were friendly). Their dining area isn't anything fancy but it's comfortable and also very homey like. After perusing through the menu, I decided on the Mediterranean bowl. The bowl comes with falafel, avocado, quinoa, hummus, dolmas, red beets, and a house salad. You can add protein for an upcharge but I kept my bowl as is. Y'all... this bowl was absolutely delicious! Everything tasted so incredibly fresh. I really enjoyed their hummus and falafel. Both had really great flavor. Despite not adding any protein to the bowl, I found it to be quite filling. Service was prompt and attentive. I didn't spend too much time here since I had to get back on the road right after, but I really enjoyed my lunch. I will definitely come back again if and when I find myself back in Moab. read more

Me and my girlfriend and my 10 month old baby came here to eat for lunch 12/5/25 & my girlfriend and I have been violently ill all night starting at 7/8 We have never gotten food poisoning this bad. Our baby just had diarrhea-thank god. Wow, this is the best Mediterranean food I've had in a long time. The zaatar bread appetizer is out of this world delicious. The restaurant decor is vibrant and fun. I recommend this place. I was hoping to get my coffee in a fancy cup, it came without a lid which was a little less cool than I was expecting but that's on me for not asking. The gyros were yummy but difficult to eat since they came laid flat (see picture) so half the filling fell out as soon as I tried to pick it up and fold it in half to eat. Amazing dinner. All food is made in house. Appetizers of babaganosh and hummus both amazing. One of the surprise standouts was the artichoke salad, featuring bits of a (probably) deep fried artichoke topping a lovely selection of greens and such. I'll start with the good, the wait staff was very friendly and accommodating, always timely with the service provided. But the quality of the food here is the real Achilles heel. I ordered a kabob chicken plate while my wife ordered an entre salad. The salad was absolutely drenched in salad dressing, she's not a picky eater at all, but she couldn't eat even half of it as the vinegar dressing was just too much. My chicken kabob plate.. Left alot to be desired. The chicken was dry and over done, a fairly small portion id say maybe 4-5oz. And the rice... I would put money on it being cheap instant white rice. It was so dry and chalky and room temperature. Not at all what i was expecting. I was expecting soft buttery basmati rice.. As usually comes with Mediterranean kabob plates. The side salad that came with my entre was basically grocery store greens with a little dressing on it. But i guess thats most places.. For dessert the waitress offered us baklava. I watched, as she proceeded to take out a tin and put a piece in the microwave. It was okay, but probably also bought at the grocery store and (clearly) just reserved. I would wager that the only thing the kitchen actually cooked was my chicken and i wouldn't be surprised if it was just reheated chicken. Perhaps its the lack of quality ingredients out there in moab, or the lack of skilled chefs to cook the actual dishes. i can't say for sure. But this was a sit down restaurant, where the expectations are higher than fast food. But sadly, the quality was far far less than even that of the regular fast chain Mediterranean places back home in Los Angeles. I could not in good conscience recommend Sultan Mediterranean. read more

Most authentic, fresh and flavorful Mediterranean food...ever! The food is actually too delicious to describe! Lunch is served 7 days a week. The lighting and decor really impressed me from the moment I opened the door. My senses and taste buds were both satisfied! This was my first time to have a roasted artichoke salad and I added beets, what a great decision! My friends had the falafel gyro with fries. They both were raving about their meals as well! The roasted artichoke side and hummus with pita were next level! No alcohol is served but you wouldn't want to dull your tastebuds and won't miss that glass of wine. We came here for at least the second time if not, the third time in the last two years when we were visiting from out of the area. I had salmon artichoke that was absolutely delicious. The cauliflower was super flavorful. The salmon was perfect and the sauce that they make With the beats and everything else is just really, really, very different but very delicious. Husband and I ate here twice for dinner after two other very disappointing meals at highly reviewed restaurants. Our dinners at Sultan were healthy, filling and delicious. Dessert of the homemade baklava was truly yummy. Not sickenly sweet in the least, lots of pistachios, and two healthy pieces with vanilla ice cream. My husband had Turkish coffee one night and expresso the other night, enjoying both. How they were presented was very nice as well. The restaurant is very nice inside and decorated well --- worth looking at all the details that make it authentic. Service was exceptionally friendly and prompt. Very curteous staff across the board. Very busy place!! We ate early for us...5:30 & 6. The second time there was a short wait and this was mid-week. Not sure if they take reservations but would suggest them if going later. read more

We had just finished a great hike at Corona Arch and were hungry, but knew we had dinner reservations in just a few hours so were looking for something light, but delicious, to eat. My friend recommended Sultan for some appetizers, and I'm so happy she did. They have a very extensive list of both cold & hot appetizers, all of which sounded delicious and made it hard to choose. We settled on the Spicy Hummus, Babaganoush, Falafel, and Angry Cali (friend cauliflower) - a bit more than we needed for a "light snack" but absolutely no regrets here. I thought everything tasted amazingly fresh and yummy, though my two favorites were the baba and the Angry Cali. The hummus/baba also came with an ample amount of pita bread - two full baskets. Our server was so friendly and accommodating. The space is nothing fancy, but feels homey and welcoming. This was by far one of the best places we've eaten at in Moab, and I will definitely make it back here during our next visit! read more
