What a pleasant surprise! Service was friendly upon arrival until departure. Came here after the storm and it was empty, which was nice. They offer booths and high top seating with real flowers. What a find! We got incredibly lucky and arrived just before the lunch crowd, managed to snag a perfect seat outside. I got takeout from 98 Center in my second week living in Moab. I got the pork belly plate starter and the bánh mì plate. The pork belly was spectacular, and I'm always a fan of marinated soft-boiled eggs. Same with the meat in the bánh mì entree. The side vegetables were also good. The rice was a little tough. Overall, I think eating in restaurant would be much better with everything fresh. I was in Moab helping build houses with Community Rebuilds. I'm giving three stars rather than two because I really appreciate the clear vegan options and great drinks - better than the food! The vegan nachos were tasty and healthy but really not nachos. That first contact make such a difference. Food was interesting. It is a Vietnamese restaurant but there is a little twist to it, which I like. I had deviled eggs and banh mi rice bowl. They were both delicious. I never asked so maybe there is an option for it, but I would prefer to have this bahm mi bowl with some vermicelli noodles instead of stick rice. My friend had a beef pho and she said it was one of the best phos she has ever had. 98 Center serves the most incredible salad I've ever had. We're repeat customers whenever we're in town, and it's all about the bánh mì salad. The spicy Thai chili dressing takes it to new heights. Our server admitted that she's often been disappointed by overhyped salads, but this one truly lives up to the hype! Hubby had the pho with organic chicken and shiitakes. Love the service here. Extensive menu of appetizers and drinks, though I got the Beef Pho and an IPA on tap. Impressively good pho. Also the biggest bonus is that they have strong Wi-Fi. This review is for the Beef Pho. It was better than I was expecting as I usually have low expectations when eating out on vacation...lol. The Pho was good and had plenty of noodles and beef. My one recommendation is to serve the sprouts, onions etc on a side dish as I usually never use the sprouts in my Pho and didn't catch that it would come in the soup. Every authentic pho place I have ever eaten serves it like this so that you can pick and choose what you want in your soup. I would also highly recommend adding chopped jalapeño to the mix of vegetables (as long as it's served on the side dish as not everyone might want it). I prefer Jalapeño to Sriracha for the added heat. The other knock I had on this place is it took forever to get our order. Usually pho comes out very quickly since the broth is made in advance so not really sure why the service is so slow here. Watching the other tables, their service was also super slow. 98 Center was a surprise sleeper here in Moab, when you're vegan and in a small(ish) town and during the off season at that, you don't expect much outside of a side salad, fried potatoes, chips, or a peanut butter sandwich that you brought with you and made while driving some trails just outside of town. While 97 Center didn't have a long list of vegan options, what they did have was surprisingly delicious. The vegan bahn mi nachos and the vegan Philly cheese steak - mixed, minced mushrooms with a vegan cheese on a bun with the vegetable broth as a side for dipping was super delicious. So delicious in fact I came back a second time during my couple days stay in town. I know what you're thinking and yes, technically they were the *ONLY vegan place open in early December, *BUT that Philly Cheesesteak and Banh Mi nachos were so good, I'd consider a drive from AZ again, just to satisfy my taste buds. I don't want to be overly harsh in my review because this restaurant really gives it their best effort. The service is great and the ambiance is very nice. However, do not order the Pho. I am a world traveler and Pho is one of my favorite foods. In all honesty this restaurant shouldn't serve Pho. The broth is flavorless, the beef was tough and the correct vegetables were absent and vegetables are the cheapest component of this dish so there isn't any financial reason for them to be absent.
