You ever have those days where you forget to eat? Well, I was having one of those days and needed something FAST before I started breathing fire from hanger. BUT--I also needed it to be delicious, filling, and not too heavy (I'm a beggar and a chooser, yes). In comes Sultan's Shawarma Shack. Mediterranean food is always a yes for me and it meets all of my criteria to quell my hanger. I'd never had Sultan's before, but we were in the area and I remembered that one of the influencers I enjoy, MoMunchies, had sung it's praises; they also had a drive thru which was a wonderful bonus. I got the chicken shawarma bowl. It came with yellow rice, chicken, salad with olives and feta, and hummus. I didn't even wait until we were out of the parking lot to dig in and after just one bite I was immediately transported to a happy place. The chicken was flavorful and tender, the rice was perfectly cooked and fluffy, the salad added a lovely crunch and coolness, and the hummus brought it all together. I was so, so good. I was halfway done before I noticed that there was bread and sauce, and I love a condiment and could eat my weight in most breads. The meal came with three sauces--I'm not sure what they are, but one is kind of like a sweet chili, one is a little garlicky, and the other one is creamy and spicy. All very delicious and add a little razzle dazzle to the dish, but truthfully it doesn't need any enhancements. They also have wraps and sandwiches, but the bowl is the one for me. It was packed full and enough for two servings for me, and it was filling without making me feel heavy. I've already been back twice. Definitely give them a try! read more

The French fires are perfectly cooked. The Philly is solid also. I had 2 Phillies. I go and order the fries all the time. The Gyro is good also. I have eaten 8 of them. Service is solid. As you can tell I really enjoy the fries. read more

I moved from NYC to NOLA so i am very familiar with the NYC carts that serve this type of food. This business was pretty good by comparison. I called ahead and ordered the chicken shawarma bowl. Not many drive thru drive thru Mediterranean Lebanese food options on the Westbank so this is a home run for me! You would think that the drive up wait would be longer than it is but its not bad. I can tell its not all pre made. There is a small wait and that's problem them chopping it up quickly but it is the real deal legit yum yum on Lapalco. The tea is on pernt, the Shwarma plate... the gyro wraps. They have nice meal deals with a canned cold drink and fries. As a matter of fact with all this typing I think thats what Im gonna do for lunch today. It was a Rally's before so it is set up still the same. First off, let me just say I stopped my meal just to write this review because of how GREAT it is. Let's keep it concise. Sultan's Shawarma Shack is a gem! I wish there were more people talking about this place! I've driven past this place so many times, having my curious thoughts like many other wanderers possibly do. But, please, let me put your curious thoughts to rest! Like another reviewer mentioned, it is similar to a Chipotle (for those who are familiar), but Mediterranean-style. But, the restaurant does not stop at only Lebanese-style bowls! There are selections of meats that you can choose to place in a bowl, sub, or wrap. There is also a veggie option for my vegetarians, which is the veggie falafel! There are also unique side items, such as the baklava and feta fries, that I have yet to try, but I am looking forward to trying. I can only speak for the first thing I've tried here, and it is the Gyro bowl. Oh man, the gyro is well-seasoned and flavorful. It literally melted in my mouth. I looked at my boyfriend, who had the gyro wrap, in disbelief. We made eye contact because we both were bathing in the wonderful experience of eating this delicious gyro! The greatness continued. The selection of veggies in my bowl were super fresh, plentiful, and so was the hummus. My yellow rice was hot & fluffy, which also melted in my mouth. Can I just say my mouth was in heaven? Aside from my meal, my bag included a small plastic container of garlic sauce and another with sweet chill sauce. The chili sauce is very similar to Thai sweet chili sauce, but instead this sauce had a unique heat to it, which I enjoyed, so watch out for those who do not like spicy things! Also, the garlic sauce was whipped to perfection. It has a thick, butter-like texture. There was also extra pita bread included that was wrapped into foil, like most other Lebanese places do. This is a really great Mediterranean food spot on Lapalco! The building is an old Rally's, so they have a super convenient drive-up window to place and pick up orders. Their prices are super reasonable, and the food is good! I've gotten a regular shawarma wrap on pita bread, shawarma on saj bread (a thin bread wrapped several times), and the chicken/beef combo sandwhich (pictured); I'd definitely recommend the combo sandwhich of all three! The portion was big enough for 2 meals. I'd recommend calling in to order ahead; then, just drive over and tell them over the intercom that you ordered, and they bring the food right out to you! No waiting, and no getting out of the car. read more

This was my first time trying the drive-thru Lebanese restaurant. It was the convenience of it being a drive thru that made me try it because it was raining. We ordered 3 chicken shawarma bowls w/ an order of baklava, the feta cheese fries, and 3 extra cups of garlic toum sauce. I was very surprised by the price in comparison to the Lebanese restaurant that I normally go to. The hummus was absolutely amazing! The best hummus that I've had in or outside of the city. The chicken was very dry though. There was only one piece of pita bread for each bowl, but the baklava was absolutely delicious. The order was only 4 small squares, but it was very good. An unassuming food stand with food that punches far above its weight. Food - I tried the chicken shawarma wrap combination, which came with two wraps and fries, a generous portion for the price. The chicken shawarma wraps were delicious, the shawarma was tender, juicy, and very flavorful. Expertly done. The fries were crispy. Service - Good, quick service. Ambiance - It is a food stand with a few tables/seats outside to eat. This is a food truck that you may drive right past and not think twice, but you'd be missing out on some excellent food. Quick and delicious Lebanese food with friendly service. It is a drive through but restaurant priced. The menu concept is similar to a Lebanese Chipotle Grill. I love the bowls. I always get the chicken shawarma bowl, which comes with chicken, rice, hummus, salad, pita bread, a garlic and sweet chili sauce, and a drink! The gyro here is tender. Check out this local drive thru! What a hidden gem. We were just cruising by & saw this. Ordered the chicken shawarma platter (wrap with fries and a drink). The wrap was so simple but bursting with flavor. It had cabbage, pickles and chicken and a few other things. Fries were crispy and a can of soda. They also gave three different sauces (garlic, spicy Mayo... I think & a sweet and sour sauce) all of which were amazing. All the places I've been to suck with customer service & food quality. These guys are friendly and operate out of a closed rally's drive thru. Enjoyed almost every item I tried here. Really enjoyed the falafel on Saj and beef/lamb gyro entrees. The feta salad was also very good. I've had better fries, but I'm not trying to grade a Lebanese restaurant on fries. The food I've gotten here has been high quality every time. I can tell the kitchen staff cares about what comes out. No crappy looking produce, no stale bread, nothing that seems to have been sitting around. It takes a little longer than some places as a result, but it's worth it. This is good food. Call ahead to wait less. The best thing on the menu is the frozen mint lemonade. It's freaking amazing. This place has a drive-thru, which is convenient. I placed an order through the phone and it was ready by time I got there. The chicken shawarma with pita bread was delicious. It also came with two sauces, the white sauce (kinda like yogurt and sour cream) and the other was a sweet chili sauce. The baklava was a bit too sweet for me, so I probably would not order it again 7/10. The Lebanese tea tasted good too considering it was my first time getting it. My go to order is the lamb gyro and spicy chicken saj. The gyro is packed with delicious lamb meat and veggies. The spicy chicken saj has a nice kick from the sauce and the dipping sauces really take everything to another level. This is my go to spot after a long day at work. The flavors of the shawarmas were pretty good but the only complaint I have about the store is that they do not serve cups of sodas or water, so they have to give it to you in a can / bottle.
