I didn't think there would be any food in Nebraska except steaks and corn (no offense to native Nebraskans!), but Sultan's Kite was a pleasant surprise. The chicken shwarma was juicy, flavorful, and most importantly not overcooked. The highlight here is definitely the spicy tzatziki; I'd never had spicy tzatziki before, and now every time I see tzatziki I wish it was spicy. It's got a bit of bite, but it cools your palate too. New in town and looking for a good place to eat, I noticed this place on several lists and decided that I had to try it. The Chicken Shawarma was not as good as expected and the Gyro meat was standard. What sets the place apart for me, though, were the sauces. They were delicious and was sad when I ran out of things to dip in them. The hummus was decent, but again, I ran out of pita break to dip in such a large amount. This is a solid four stars, but easily five given that it is in Lincoln. Could be a little cleaner in the seating area--but the price and overall deliciousness more than offset that. SOOOOOO GOOD!!! And the staff could not have been nicer. They easily pegged us as first timers and were eager to let us try bits of everything. Was in town the other day and made a point to stop in and see Sultan. Sure enough he was there, working hard as always! And he remembered me, too, how about that? I am so happy that he has been able to thrive in this spot on O street that has historically been unsuccessful for many restaurateurs. I guess you need good food to succeed? This place isn't fancy, but the food is great and very reasonably priced. The service is friendly and prompt. It will likely only take you about 5 minutes to get through the line, even If there are 15 people in front of you. My favorite is the chicken tikka korma, which at the time of this writing costs about $8 with tax. All meals come with Greek potatoes and a side salad. The portions are generous and I typically have leftovers. In addition, they are open late. Highly recommend! read more

I have eaten at the Sultan's Kite two times and have not been disappointed. Their Gyros are hands down the best I have ever had. My wife had the Shawarma Chicken and it was phenomenal as well. I recently moved to Omaha and any time I have to go to Lincoln for something I will plan it around a stop at the Sultan's Kite. The Gyros are loaded with the best Gyro meat around and then topped with all the traditional toppings of your choice. They have 3 different sauces to choose from. Went looking for decent falafels, and was a little disappointed. They weren't made fresh, but came out of a warmer box. They were a little dark for my taste, and while the flavor was good, I think they would have been better hot out if the fryer. Had potato wedges on the side and they were flabby. Not crunchy and not like typical Greek fries. The pita was fine, the veggie toppings were okay, and the sauces were okay. Serving sizes were generous. My husband got the gyro and said the meat was really good. I probably wouldn't eat here again, but continue elsewhere on my quest for the perfect falafel. read more

I was staying at the airport Hampton and wanted to eat something delicious for dinner. A quick Yelp scan found the Sultan's Kite. It had a decent number of reviews and 4 1/2 stars...I figured it was worth a shot! I used their online ordering option, which worked like a charm. Being that it was a warm Saturday evening in February, the area was quite busy and it took me awhile to find parking. Once I did, I walked in, my order was ready to go and already paid for. I ordered the pita, gyro meat, falafel, extra pita and baklava. The pitas were tough (they may have sat too long). But everything else was good. Gyro meat was typical, but not too greasy. The taziki was DELICIOUS. This is like Turkish cacuk only thickened like a sauce for the American pallette. It was piled high with onion, sauce, tomatoes, feta and olives. The falafel was also really good. Nice and crispy, but not overly greasy. The baklava was so so. I don't think it was homemade. I've had better. All in all, good food and I would eat there again. read more

Wonderful eat-in location in the heart of downtown. I have ordered Fallafal, the gyro, and chicken swarma and they are all outstanding. The mother-two brother owner/operator team are extremely nice and make the experience that much better. The number one lunch location in downtown by far! The owner is so nice and knows how to treat customers. The affordable food is excellent, and you'll find you have so much of it that you'll have two meals.
