Not a bad coffee shop in Crystal Lake. They have pretty much a standard coffee menu, with a few extras that are more unique to their own company. I picked up one of their Strawberry Refreshers, which has green tea and some strawberry added. It was good and, yes, very refreshing. I appreciate that they have something more than just a chai latte or hot chocolate for non-coffee drinkers, especially now that the warmer months are upon us. There's a parking lot here, fairly large, though there are other businesses here as well. There's also a drive through, which was a little confusing to get to since you can't enter it from the parking lot in front of the place. read more

This is a beautifully decorated local coffee shop in Crystal Lake that is located in a smaller plaza next to Menards and behind the Regal Cinema. I was so appreciative of the dairy free options and ability to still get their special moon lattes. We loved our drinks, which were also made quickly. In the morning on a weekend they had at least 8 staff working. The inside is so cozy, with nice sitting areas and tables and a small outdoor patio. Recommend supporting this local cafe! read more

This is one of the best coffee shops in Chicagoland. For starters, the quality of drinks far exceeds the prices you pay. I'd take this over Starbucks, Peet's, or Blue Bottle any day. The shop is also super homey. I love their autumn decorations and merch! It's always been busy when I've visited, but I've never had to wait more than ten minutes for my drink. The baristas are nice. Even during peak hours, it usually isn't difficult to find a place to sit. This is an ideal study/remote work/hang out spot. Plenty of free parking. The Metra station is a ten-minute walk. read more

Stopped by Summer Moon's Crystal Lake location after hearing very positive reviews about the coffee. The inside is very nicely designed with tons of natural light, pattered tiles, warm woods, pops of green, and modern lights. There was quite a bit of seating based on the overall size of the shop. Also, one could order inside or they had a drive through! The menu offered a variety of hot/cold coffee drinks with many syrup flavors to add. They also had some tea and breakfast/bakery food options. The staff member recommended the Blue Moon to me when I said I was interested in lavender. This had portions of espresso, skim milk, and their known "moon milk" but also lavender flavoring. My partner got their spiced chai tea option and we shared a warm chocolate croissant. The chai was very tasty but still sweet for it being a spiced option. My Blue Moon Latte was good but the coffee had a slight burnt taste it; I did not pick up much of the lavender either. The croissant was flaky and fresh but could have had a bit more chocolate inside. Overall, this is a great coffee option when in the Crystal Lake area but would not be a destination to go out of my way to drive out to. read more

Papa may have found a new fav. Summer Moon Coffee's drip alone makes it stellar. Oak-roasted coffee sounds enticing but can sound a bit intimidating to some. Please know that the oak flavor is but a subtle, balanced note. These are premium beans friends. Their Velvet Blaze espresso is the nucleus to their creations and shines as a shot on it's own. If I'm not drinking coffee black, I absolutely love their Nitro Sweet Steamer. Get the Blue Moon Latte and thank me later. It has the perfect amount of sweetness from Moon Milk and a beautiful lavender fragrance. Moon Milk is magical. Not only do they serve Cortados here, they also have Moontados, which is their own, sweeter version of a Cortado. I love that Summer Moon serves fresh, locally-made pastries and other baked treats, that is awesome! What a cute coffee shop! We visited on our way to a local orchard and decided to get some seasonal beverages. I ended up trying an iced pumpkin chai. We had the ability to select how sweet we wanted it to be, I decided to get it at 50% and that was still a tad too much for me. I think next time I'm going to get it at 25% as the pumpkin did add quite a bit of sweetness too. We also ordered a scone, but unfortunately we never got it before we left (totally our mistake!) Not close to home but I happened to be in the area at the time and I got a chance to grab something. My favorite is the iced blue moon latte. Love the lavender flavor in coffee. The hubby and I stopped in here before a doctor's appointment nearby. He ordered a peppermint mocha and I ordered a hot tea. I always love trying new coffee shops and when I did a search while dog sitting for my aunt, this was the first place that popped up. Coming in, I dug the aesthetic and chill ambiance of the location. Since it's summer, I couldn't resist trying the Espresso Milkshake and it was absolutely delicious! If you're not into overly sweet drinks, this wouldn't be for you. The staff were all smiles and friendly. They accommodated my request for my glass tumbler to be used immediately for my drink! Just recently discovered Summer Moon. I initially discovered this at Kenosha and was excited that there was a location closer to home at Crystal Lake. The shop is smaller compared to the one in Kenosha but the service and atmosphere is exactly the same. The baristas were super helpful in understanding the different lattes. I got the blue moon latte with 3/4 moon milk( that's really sweet- just the way I like it). We got croissants for us and cake pops for the kids. The variety wasn't much at Crystal Lake, but still good for coffee and snack. It's a great place to chill with kids with games and coloring to occupy kiddos. I really enjoy their coffee and the moon milk. I typically get a hot latte. But the past 2 times I got an iced latte with the added cold foam which is an up charge of $1.35. The first time I got a 16 oz and the cold foam was very non existent, very superficial so I figured it was due to it being a smaller cup. Today I got a 20oz and again chose cold foam and AGAIN it was barely there. It seems like they purposely only add a tbsp of it and by the time I get to my car and it's swishing around in the coffee it almost disappears. Just sad that after paying the extra charge for it I still get skimmed on it. I would understand if it was free then ok be miserable with it but not when I'm paying for it. read more

Summer moon had a drink for each of us! My wife got the Blue moon latte iced and I got the 16 oz. Nitro moon. Each drink uses their creation of something called moon milk. It's a sweetened creamer of sorts that is fantastic! Notes of cinnamon, brown sugar and other wonderful flavors come through. We highly recommend this place. I love the flavor of their coffee, moon milk, and moon juice. I LOVE that they have the Nitro Steamer, because sometimes you just need that nitro and a hot drink. The down side of that drink, though, is that I have almost always gotten significantly less coffee than the ounces they're advertising it as.
