I first came here for a coffee tasting session with Alex last summer, and that was a great experience. Alex is super knowledgeable about coffee and clearly puts a lot of thought into what he does and how he does it. It's been really nice to be able to order coffee beans and have them delivered since we're so close to the store, but going there is easy too - convenient location and plenty of parking. The coffee itself has been solid - I am not a black coffee drinker, but my partner is, and he has consistently enjoyed the coffee he's gotten there. On our last visit to the shop, Alex told us about the other location they own, Maple Leaf Coffee House in St. Charles - we're hoping to check that out soon! read more

Maple Leaf Coffee Roasters is a great, fresh option in the Roselle area. They have a variety of bean options for light, medium, dark roasts and even sell decaf beans. The bags come is 12oz and 16oz options but one can also preorder a large format of beans for pick up. When I visited, the owner Alex was there and he could not be nicer! He made some great recommendations based on my preferences and offers items in bean or grounded formats. I purchased the Costa Rica Marigold option based on the notes listed. He gave me beans that had been roasted that day! The beans are high quality but not has flavor forward as I'm used to. I went in for the first time and told Alex that we like dark roast coffee. I had previously read on Yelp that others liked Winnipeg blend. So I told Alex I wanted the Winnipeg then Alex also suggested the Vietnamese Lotus blend so I bought this also. We did not like the Winnipeg blend because it was not a dark roast. After moving to the area, we were glad to find this roastery near us, especially because we were going through a lot more beans than usual with covid's working from home. It smelled heavenly, and the coffee shop was well organized with a roaster in the back, a wide selection of freshly roasted single origin and blended beans with fun flavor profiles. Whether you are looking for a quality replacement for the drip coffee that you would get from a big box store or if you are an enthusiast perfecting your preparation of choice, Maple Leaf is your resource. The blends are a great place to start for tried-and-true drip or filter coffee, with roasted on dates that are days away and not months. And if you peer over the register, you'll likely see beans being roasted. I'm currently brewing through the Toronto Blend, and it makes quite a clean and tasty pourover. For coffee nerds like me, there is an assortment of single origin beans of varying roast levels to try. I'm also brewing the Cerro las Ranas, a light roast from El Salvador, and dialed in properly it has the best juicy brightness. I'm working down the list to find my favorites, and know there is also a rotation of seasonal options to try. I'm also starting my journey with espresso, and the owner Alex has been an invaluable sounding board. I have a non-traditional manual setup, and we chatted up ways to approach it. The beans I initially picked up from an upscale grocery, let's just say they don't wholly sell foods, were of questionable roast level and roast date. With his guidance I picked up their Hartford Espresso, which is suited to espresso and a perfect gateway into the hobby. I'm also trying out an experimental blend of theirs that is equally as good. It's just great to know that I have a local resource that has a love for the artistry of coffee. I'd say stop by to nerd out on coffee for a while. I recently upgraded my espresso machine and was looking to get fresh roasted beans. I stopped by their store one day and it was an amazing experience.The moment you step inside you get hit by the awesome smell of freshly roasted coffee beans, and the owner was very friendly and helpful. Since I was trying it for the first time, I got a sampler pack, and there was plenty to choose from. As soon as I got home (nevermind it was in the afternoon) I open one of them and tried it, and I can honestly say it was the best cup of coffee I ever tried. I did like some more than the others, so , in that sense, I would recommend you get a sampler pack to find your favorite. Not only I will be back to the store as often as possible, I already convinced some of my friends to go and try it as well. read more

Having been into coffee-making as a hobby for some time, it's great to finally have a local roaster to chat up. Unfortunately, I have the bad habit of showing up a few minutes before closing and talking the ear off of Alex, the owner. Fortunately, he is always super gracious and willing to answer my questions and I always leave more knowledgeable for it. Social activities aside, all the coffee I've bought has been amazing and it's clear that Alex takes his craft very seriously. My most recent purchase has been El Poeta, a delicious, single origin medium roast from Costa Rica. I tend to be more traditional in my taste preferences so I still haven't gotten on board with the recent trend of light roasts and the prioritization of a brighter, more acidic taste. Because of this, El Poeta is right up my alley and when it eventually goes out of season, I now have a reference point to go to Alex with for my next recommendation. For all the above reasons, the next time you're headed to Starbucks to re-stock on beans, I wholeheartedly recommend heading here instead and giving them a try. What an incredible coffee roaster, definitely worth ordering from or visiting if you get the chance. The level of customer service is unreal and you can see the whole coffee roasting process from up close. They also can grind it up for you and they have special bags that keep the coffee fresh for months. Great selection of a ton of different strains from all over the world, there's something for everyone. Needless to say, the coffee tastes divine. read more

I stopped here when my daughter had a soccer game close by. I love to support businesses like this and this little place did not disappoint. I prefer medium roast coffee and when I spoke with the owner he made a couple great suggestions... a Costa Rican blend and the Campbell Blend... both suggestions were delicious.
