The espresso itself is always flavorful and rich but my drink was a bit bland and the pistachio didn't come through. This is inside the train station. And it looks super cute and clean--it replaced the Starbucks that shut down. There are like 3-4 convenient parking spots in the turnaround if you're just going to order to go, otherwise street parking is all around. Didn't get coffee recently, but did get some baked treats. We were all pleasantly surprised! Favorite thing we tried was the spinach and bacon scone. This was so good. Our kids loved it. The scone was really buttery and savory. Ham and cheese croissant was a solid second savory choice. My husband also ordered us a cranberry orange scone because he thought it sounded festive. Unfortunately, this one wasn't a hit. If you like tart and citrus and holiday in your mouth, then maybe this one is actually for you--it just wasn't for me. But that's not to say it isn't good. The scones aren't dry or dense, but more fluffy and tender inside with a bit of a bite to the outside. The texture is nice and almost like a cheddar bay biscuit. read more

Hottest cup of coffee I ever had. I've been to this Conscious Cup location in Palatine many times, usually just to grab a quick coffee and if I'm lucky a pastry or sandwich. Which they don't have. It's a small spot, and honestly, I've never expected much from it. I do wish they had a better selection of food most of the time, it's limited. Occasionally, they'll still have some donuts in the afternoon, which are at least cheap and (I believe) locally sourced. But my most recent visit really left a bad impression. I was served one of the hottest cups of coffee I've ever had, and the lid didn't fit the cup properly which seems to be a recurring issue here. As a result, I ended up burning my mouth, my hand, and part of my leg when it spilled while I tried to take a sip. Definitely not what you want from a quick coffee run. If you just need something fast and aren't too picky, it might do the trick. But don't expect the kind of experience you'd get at other coffee shops in the area. read more

Came here for the first time recently because I tried a location in Milwaukee and LOVED the taste of the coffee, so when I found out there were multiple locations near my house, I was stoked. When my husband and I were parking, we didn't realize at first that it was inside the Palatine Train Station, and we drove around a couple of times confused because we couldn't find it. Once we parked and started walking, that's when we saw the cafe's sign. Inside, the cafe has a beautiful natural aesthetic with light-colored walls and bright lights. Then, when you turn left from the ordering counter, there are some wooden tables, wooden benches, stools, and plants with tons of open space because of the train station. There is also a pretty big patio outside the front door with a fountain, tables, and chairs, so we ended up sitting there until it began raining. We came on a Sunday, and it wasn't too busy inside, but once we ordered, many more people walked in. There were 2 baristas working at the time, and it took an insanely long time for them to make our two drinks. I ordered an iced Sweet Honey Bee latte which has local honey and lavender syrup inside of it and my husband ordered a Strawberry Fields smoothie (strawberry and banana). For these 2 drinks, it literally took us 15 minutes to get our drinks. We both greatly enjoyed our drinks once we received them, though. The coffee they use is great quality and this drink in particular is smooth and delicious. My husband said his drink was natural and had actual fruit inside, which was a plus (I couldn't try his because I'm allergic to strawberries). This cafe has many different drink and food choices. It is a bit more expensive than some other coffee places for the size of the drinks, but nowadays, coffee anywhere has gotten overpriced, so I'm not even surprised. My drink was about $7 and both of our drinks together were a little more than $18 including a tip. We both ordered 20 oz drinks from what I can remember, and they have 16oz, 20oz, and 24oz options. Overall, I would come back periodically, but because of how expensive it is, I wouldn't make this my daily coffee joint. read more

I prefer to shop small until they price gouge you for nondairy and ice. Note: their cold brew, while stronger than Starbucks, does have better flavor and is competitively priced as long as you aren't looking for nondairy add ins. Service was good. I'm sure Conscious Cup has been in the Palatine Train Station for a while, but I have not. They must have replaced the Starbucks that used to be in the exact location. Like most coffee shops these days, they offer a variety of coffees, espresso drinks, teas, etc. They also have an excellent selection of pastries. Pricing is about average for an upscale coffee shop. My usual is simply a black coffee, which I had here. It rivaled any coffee shop I've been to in recent memory. The servers were delightful. (I don't know if Barista is only used at Starbucks or if they are also called that here.) Regardless of what they are called, their kindness made the experience even better. read more

I didn't realize till we arrived that it's actually inside the Palatine train station, which is cool. I ordered a hot Golden Dreams and my wife got an iced Honey Bee latte. The Golden Dreams is a non-coffee drink using milk, turmeric, and other spices. It tasted great if you're used to strong flavors, and felt healthy. They did a superb job with the foamed milk. My wife enjoyed her latte. I only had one sip, but appreciated that the lavender wasn't overpowering like it is at some other places. I don't want to drink air freshener. In an ongoing hunt for good lattes with foam art on top, I headed to Conscious Cup with a friend on March 5. I didn't realize until I arrived that the coffee shop is inside the Palatine Metra Station, and for a moment I doubted that it would be great. Happily, this place is wonderful. The staff was extremely friendly and made small talk as they engaged with us -- and said yes, they make latte art! Several of their lattes sounded good to me, and I settled on the Sweet Honey Bee, which has honey and lavender flavors. It was really good and I'd definitely order it again, but also want to try some of their other lattes in the future. The coffee shop also offers some pastries. Most of the seating is in the main train station, where there are benches and tables for commuters. This is a just a heads up for those who want to spend time chatting over coffee. While it's not an intimate coffee shop, the service and drinks are upscale quality. read more

Located inside the Palatine Metra station, this locally owned coffee shop is a great addition to downtown! They have tons of signature drinks, pastries, gluten-free muffins and carry Spunky Dunkers donuts - another local favorite. I've tried the Vanilla Ella, Spiced Chia Latte and Caramel Vanilla Latte - all are very flavorful. The cafe is very small with no seating, though being located inside the train station, there is plenty of indoor seating just outside the cafe. The one downside is they don't have breakfast sandwiches like some of their other locations in Crystal Lake or Cary. I'm not sure if there are other menu differences, but that's what stood out to me. I went here on a slow afternoon. It was a cute little set up. The staff were very nice. I requested an espresso con panna. The barista didn't know this drink, so I explained it was an espresso with whip. I appreciate they were willing to make it. The barista didn't seem to know how to use the whip cream so it took a long time for my drink to be ready. It was half espresso, part whip cream water?!?!?, and part whip cream. It was ice cold when I took a sip and I ended up throwing it out. It was pretty badly made for a relatively common drink. read more

Way better than Starbucks & Dunkin. They are consistent which is NEEDED. Other coffee chains have been lacking and their ingredients in their drinks are filled with chemicals. The drink sizes are bigger than starbucks. A medium iced coffee is a 20oz instead of 16oz and only less than a dollar more. Pumpkin spice latte tasted natural and not sugary like other coffee shops. Coffee does not taste bitter. Bakery has delicious local baked goods. The milk is even local as well. Their nut milk alternatives are healthy brands. I really enjoy this coffee shop. I love that they carry gluten free baked goods! It is a special treat. I've also had their tea lattes and they are good. Highly recommend. Finally a real coffee house in Palatine! I've been to all 3 of their current locations (Libertyville, Barrington, and Crystal Lake), and these guys roast/brew top notch coffee. It's hard to find a Papua New Guinea origin, and this is by far their best roast. Recommend a large drip blended with their butter 'puck' w/ a little maple syrup. read more

I always come here when visiting family in the area (out of location and convenience only). Overall, it's really just OK. Biggest complaint would be the price. I paid $6 for a medium latte which usually costs $3.50 where I'm from. I understand that's it's located in the Chicago area (which has a higher cost of living) but dang! That's expensive! Oh, and they don't post the prices on the menu as other reviews have noted. That's annoying!! I'm glad they're probably paying their staff a fair wage, but what about your customers?
