Ellie would have been 10 last month. Poor management of care at Summit Dog and Cat Hospital. On 10/4/25, Ellie underwent services by Dr. Baker due to loss of appetite. She was not seen until 12/15/25 due to unreliable communication from Summit Dog and Cat Hospital. Here is what happened: -We called the front desk 3x in between that time frame to follow up on her bloodwork, which we later learned was abnormal results. -The receptionist stated the doctor had left a voicemail. -We later learned they had the incorrect phone number. They had the wrong area code of 917 instead of 973. (I am still trying to understand how that can be misinterpreted over the phone when the rest of the phone number was correct.) -We also left our email address, but the doctor or front desk never took the extra step to communicate with us. After hearing this news, we promptly scheduled her in December after two months- She was diagnosed with Advanced Kidney Disease. She underwent bloodwork and prescribed medication, but she had progressed far along that she wasn't taking medication anymore. Fluids were given and we administered subcutaneously at home. Ellie declined rapidly. We had a visiting doctor because she could not stand or walk anymore. She was incontinent, lethargic, and in pain. She passed away in home on 1/8/26. This was extremely tragic. We are very sad that Ellie passed away. But we are even more upset with the way her experience was handled. -If the correct phone number was put in, she would have had timely care. -If the front desk or doctor took the extra step to email if they did call about abnormal results, she may have had more time. -We should not have been the ones confirming an incorrect phone number 2 months later. If the front desk had known we had called multiple times and did not hear from the doctor, further steps should have been taken to confirm correct information was input in the system. I work in a healthcare setting and would do anything in my power to ensure my employees relay abnormal results or matters over as soon and efficiently as possible. Reason being is to establish patient safety, reduction in medical errors, and improvement in health outcomes. Clear and timely communication builds trust and accurate treatment to deliver high-quality, efficient care. We did not receive this at Summit Dog and Cat Hospital. My hope is that this facility trains their employees to work on their communication with pet parents through our experience. Everything starts with the receptionist staff for reliable communication and comfort knowing our pets have proper care. This should not be a repeated mistake and I can only hope that their management of staff improves after our unfortunate situation. Other factors that require review by management (see pictures below): -Ellie's birthday is input incorrect in the system. Her correct birthday is 2/6/16. -We were overcharged 10/4/25 for blood panel. This was resolved, but this should not be a mistake. -We were charged on 12/15/25 for urinalysis (UA) that was not done because she passed. We were told that it cannot be refunded due to a set fee with the other blood work. -We discussed getting a refund on needles after talking to Karen on the phone. When I went in person on 2/4/16, a receptionist with initials "HS" was not aware that Ellie had passed nor knew about conversation had with Karen. We had notes taken ourselves and showed it to her. I can only hope communication increases amongst employees and it is updated in their system that her passing was 1/8/26. -Management must learn to take accountability and take action when mistakes happen. There are several Google Reviews where when they are in the wrong, they do not respond or get defensive. This is not acceptable business practice especially to unhappy pet parents or grieving families. I look forward to hearing their response and if need be, they can give us a call to further discuss. read more

I see several not-so-positive reviews here, and I'm not thrilled with wait times, but then I realise the vets & staff are giving each animal individual care, and it's not a conveyor belt. I know this because we always get courteous, thorough care for our cat. The vets are wonderful, never had a bad experience, and they never seem to rush through any part of the visit. They are busy though, so sometimes it can feel like a conveyor-belt and you're almost never seen at your appt time (are we ever seen on time at the Dr?!!?). But they have been lovely with our cat, and after-all, that's who they're there for. I have trouble clipping our cat's nails, but she lays down as if it's for a bellyrub with them and doesn't squirm at all! I stay with her through the exam, and she's putty with the staff !! :) It must be hard for them to deal with very sick animals, I couldn't do it, I'd be in tears. from me, and our 5 year old cat. read more

FIVE YEARS AGO IT WOULD HAVE BEEN A 5 STAR !!!! But I am not surprised that after 60+ reviews, they only average just over 2 stars. THE PLACE HAS GONE DOWN HILL OVER THE PAST FEW YEARS. I HAVE BEEN A CUSTOMER FOR NEARLY 25 YEARS !!!!. The change in management led to a philosphy change from being partners in the care of a loving pet to in my opinion, being more about profit !!!! Their internal policies are petty, Example: While traveling, had to go to a local Vet at the destination, while there I realized my pup was due next month for physical, rabbies, vaccines, and bloodwork so since I would not be returning to Summit for another 3 months, I decided to get it done at the local vet where I was traveling rather than delay the important things. Make sense right ? HOWEVER, SDC, a week later they CANCELED my auto ship from SDC for flea and tick. They said my dog was due in a few weeks for the annual. I told them I got it done elsewhere, why I had to go elsewhere, and even sent all the medical records to them for their records and they still refused to fill the autoship. They said the only way they would ship it would be if they did the exam again with them despite my getting one 3 weeks earlier. That was from the mouth of the office manager (Hannah) . ARE YOU KIDDING ME ? The place I got it all done at my travel destination was at a Vet 50 years in business !!!! Previously, one of the newer doctors (Seemingly Indian Decent) apparently did not get the urine or stool sample sent to the lab. I brought another sample and it still did not get done if I remember correctly. But rather than acknoledge the error, he apparently gave me results over the phone that were not consistent with past results or the gender of my Pup, something like that. I knew something was strange about the results and when I talk to a different vet in the office (Female) she stated that the results I was given by the male doctor could not possibly be the results for my pup !!!! She was alarmed by this and apologetic. He is not there anymore I think. What a disaster there. read more

Just want to start off by saying the doctors and technicians there are amazing. Very friendly, knowledgeable, and show a genuine care for your animal. The front desk/scheduling/administration needs considerable work. I have made appointments , that when I arrived did not show in their system. I have emailed them a few times with no response or a phone call back. I have been sent my dogs vaccination record's several times and the dates and names of the vaccines on each record are different. The care your pet receives from the vets/techs will be great , that's if the administration work and scheduling is done properly. I truly value the expertise of your medical staff and hope that these administrative challenges can be addressed to ensure a smoother experience for all patients. read more

In my opinion the staff are rude and Clueless, especially a woman named Vanessa. You can never get a vet on the phone even after an animal has been seen they disappear and you cannot speak to them, apparently they have a secret society. Brought in a cat that needed some help with one of her eyes, they stitched the eye too tight and when I try to talk to them about it they were nowhere to be found. I brought a cat to this place years ago she saw the vet's wife at the time. The cat had a mass in her ear area which was not recognized by the vet. She told us to get another Dental which was really not necessary, cat had one not long before. We got another opinion, by the time the cat got a CAT scan which was recommended to confirm the mass, the cat did not make it out of anesthesia. Shame on these people for acting like real vets because they stink! They should hang it up and I don't mean their diplomas. I'm going to mention the only reason why I'm giving them two stars is because they did a good job on a cat's tail that needed to be removed many years ago and it was for a good price, maybe they just need to do that. read more

This office is very unprofessional and will never communicate what is going on. They leave you questioning which is not okay when it come's to your pet's health. They cut my cat's nails so short that they were bleeding and did not tell me. I found out once we were back home. Most of the time, they never tell me what is going on unless I ask. When I do ask, I never get an answer from the vet. The nice receptionist should not be responsible for communicating what a veterinarian should be. They do not seem like they care or know what they are doing. I will not be returning nor recommending this place. read more

As a new client at this hospital, I am now a lifelong supporter! The level of care I received was exceptional. The receptionist, technicians, and doctor were outstanding. When my puppy broke his arm and required X-rays to monitor his healing progress, they showed remarkable kindness and provided excellent care. When we moved to Hillside, I needed a new vet for my guinea pigs. I called around, and Summit Dog & Cat Hospital was the only practice to have an appointment within 48 hours for my piggie when he was in need of medical attention. Dr. Volger was so sweet to my little man and was patient with all of my questions. She took her time examining his lungs, eyes, and teeth before writing a prescription. When we returned for a follow up, I was only charged for the second course of medication we were given. When we came back with another one of our boys, she was very helpful and gave very insightful recommendations on the dynamic of our little herd (one of them was nibbling on the ears of our other two, which is a sign of dominance we were unaware of until she pointed it out). Unfortunately, this pig did not make it and we had to have him euthanized at an emergency vet after hours. When we informed Dr. Volger of this, she was so sweet and sent us a card and some flowers. We are so grateful for Dr. Volger and the care she puts into her work. read more

I did hear someone speaking to them on one occasion in a not so nice tone. If you are having a bad day, apologize to them if you speak to them unkindly, they will understand. Never again! This place was recommended to me by a family member during Covid-19 because my normal CAT groomer has been closed. My cat is 12 years old. He has been going to a groomer since he was 10 MONTHS old.. the very beginning! I called and was told that I COULDN'T/WOULDN'T be quoted a price because it depends on the severity of the fur/coat. This should have been a warning but it's so difficult to find a cat groomer and my cat wasn't badly matted so I figured " how much could it possibly be?" So I walked into the place and immediately noticed 4+ dogs barking/getting groomed. The poor toy Yorkie was ridiculously scared and SHAKING in his boots! Terrified! I immediately notified staff that my cat was NOT going to do well in this environment! I was told they would place him in the back away from the noise so I dropped off my cat and sat in the parking lot despite being told the wait could be up to 4 hours. An hour later I was called and told my 12 yo cat needed to be sedated. I immediately asked about the validity of this request. I was told that my cat was hissing/ attacking the groomer. I walked in from the parking lot because once again my cat has been groomed for 12 YEARS. I walked in "THE BACK" to see my cat in the hallway outside of a dog playroom where the dog was jumping and barking. I was told that he would need to be sedated despite the noise, dogs, etc. I agreed to this because we were already in the building. I was quoted $204 for the hair cut and an update on shots. I arrived 2 hours after being called and told that the cat was ready and the bill was $275... NEVER AGAIN!! Why not call to update me on the price? I was told that she miss quoted me. Ridiculous! I normally pay $90 at my cat groomer!!!!! This place is a dog hospital and does not, in anyway, cater to cats. It's wrong to place cats in this chaotic environment and persuade owners to sedate their perfectly NORMAL cats! Please take your cat to Cozy cutz in Hoboken on Sunday's. Sunday's are dedicated to cats only and your cat won't be harassed by horrible staff and barking dogs. read more

I would NEVER recommend Summit Dog and Cat Hospital. The one good thing about this establishment is the reception, they are kind and caring people who are trying their best. In general, they overcharge by extreme amounts. The only reason I selected them in the first place was because all the other Vets in town were not available until later in the month. More specifically: I had given the vet a list of vaccines and things that I wanted them to do for my dog since I am with an organization that requires certain vaccines at certain times. We are NOT allowed to stray from that schedule. I informed them of this and was asked if they could give a different vaccine on the next visit. I told them that if approved, I would tell them. When I went in for the visit they had given him the vaccine anyway without my consent. Then, they made me pay for that vaccine. In this same visit they did not weigh him or give him a dewormer. The $20 dewormer was free, but I would have also liked to get my money back for the vaccine that was provided without any consent. When my dog was sick I had a few questions for the Vet. I watched a Vet Tech speak to the Vet, the Vet looked at us for a second and slinked away. The Vet Tech came back telling me that the Vet would call us. The Vet never called. Another issue that I had was with perscriptions. I tried to get the heartgard and nexgard from Chewy from the Vet and they just never accepted. I called them many times and my dog could just not get the perscriptions he needed. My neighbor brought their dog in for dental cleaning and came out with two teeth missing. They did not tell them until after the surgery that they pulled two teeth. I am completely done with this establishment. They do things without your consent constantly and upcharge by so much. read more

I think the Hospital Manager is the owner while the owner lives in Florida for the winter. She only seems to respond to good reviews. I originally wrote a good review. However, the Vets missed that my cat was severely anemic. They did not suggest blood work until I got the results of the ultrasound. That's absolutely incompetent! They were giving my cat the wrong meds and also the Vet was fucking laughing at my distress when I was in on November 10. He seems to be better at showing me where the coffee was than actually figuring out what was wrong with my cat. How can you not do bloodwork right away? That is complete incompetence. My cat had to have a life saving blood transfusion. She needed the blood transfusion to stay alive. I have this in writing from Blue Pearl The worst part was that when the bloodwork revealed what was really wrong with my cat, I was given new medications and was told to monitor it for a few days. The Doctor who was laughing and showing me where the coffee was had the audacity to ask how she was after he found out what the bloodwork revealed. His name is on the bloodwork. He also had the audacity to tell me that she would be fatigued for a couple of days. Dr. AMR, she would have been dead if I had not taken her to VEG. Why didn't you do the right thing and tell me to take her to an emergency vet? I showed the bloodwork to another vet and she said emergency!!!!! Since my concerns were ignored, I had no choice, but to report this to the Veterinary board. An apology and some of the money back would be fine. read more

I have been taking my generations of dogs to this vet office for almost 20 years. And through the years, I found them to be a wonderful blend of technical skill and administrative competence, with a ton of empathy for animals and their owners. Fast forward to this year: The vets and management staff and the admin staff have all now completely turned over. I've waited for more than 40 minutes for a scheduled appointment with an anxious dog who shakes and pants the entire time. That never used to happen. The dogs are the ones who suffer from this incompetence. The office staff is supposed to call me when they finish giving my dog a medicated shampoo. The past few times, they have not called. When I have called them, they tell me "oh yes, your dog is done, you can come get him." He is a wreck at the vet. It's cruel to keep him there longer than he needs to be. I was sent home with my dog after getting and called at the end of the day because they had forgotten to give him his monthly allergy shot. Because the vets office is closing for the weekend and so the dog ended up getting allergy shot several days late. Recently, I asked for a callback from a vet and made three requests for a call over two days. Finally on the third day an admin called me back to confirm that the only way a vet would talk to me is if I came in for an appointment. Having spent tens of thousands of dollars on five animals there over the years, and being that both my dogs are there every month for routine care, I would thought the courtesy of a vet call back would not have been too much to ask. The one bright spot: The groomers there are truly excellent. Given the lack of consideration for both the animals and humans owners, my two dogs and I have switched vets. read more

Since she just saw my dog on the same issue (5 days ago)She looked at me with a red face "I wasn't going to charge you, but since you bought it up "I find your questioning obnoxious!" I had been a long time customer and been through several turnovers in ownership/management. It WAS wonderful, many years ago - the vets were warm and more concerned with animal health than profit. During my cat's last thought with urinary crystals, I was assured that a rx was being sent to another animal hospital in Paramus electronically -and wasn't given paper. I went there with my sick cat, and low and behold the rx wasn't there and since it was about to be a long weekend, no one was answering the phone for Summit and there was no on call. Not only did I pay double at Summit than I did 11 months prior, but I had to pay for an emergency vet visit at Paramus to get my rx and no one from Summit ever called me back. Last week, the same cat that has been on urinary maintenance food his entire life since diagnosis and is now 12, needed the rx confirmed bc of a clerical mixup at the pet food ordering site. Whomever called me back was super rude and told me I needed to bring in my cat in order to get a refill. I then come to find out from the pet food site that he actually has a lifetime prescription and there was no reason for the person to call me and be insanely rude, especially since I had shelled out hundreds and hundreds of extra dollars over their mess up that they never called to apologize for I will never go back. I highly recommend that you do not. read more

Don't send your loved pets here. I had recent experience with my dog with had minor ear surgery to remove a small growth. It was EXPENSIVE for a minor surgery. Even worst, after the surgery, my dog had wasn't feeling that great with the pain med they gave as part of the costs of the EXPENSIVE surgery. So then they decided to charge another large sum of money to me to take a blood sample and prescribe other medication to...I guess..counteract the medicine they originally prescribed. Should they just admit that the origination medication was either not needed or was not correct in dosage or duration? Why charge another 25% above the original bill to correct for their post-surgery mismanagement? I thought that was customer gouging and unfair. Of course, they would just justify everything they do without regard to business ethics. Go somewhere else that doesn't treat you like a bank with your loved pet at their mercy. read more

Our cat was having a problem and our regular vet did not have any openings for us. Summit Dog & Cat Hospital was recommended to us so we called and were accommodated. The visit exceeded our expectations. The staff, from the front desk to the manager and doctor were all pleasant, knowledgeable and caring. We will be continuing with them from now on. read more

I have been bringing my dog to this facility for 4 plus years since moving to the area. Visits have always been short sweet and to the point with a reasonable charge. We had no issue with standard visit and vaccines. He is an older dog and had a cataract in one eye, which was glanced over at each visit and deemed ok. When I came in for a sick dog visit-- my dog's eye was swollen and protruding from his eye socket-- and he was in pain, eating but lethargic and growling, "not himself", the vet tech paid more attention to my dog than the doctor (Dr K Dorney). She came into the room and refused to exam him and gave me a list of veterinary opthamologists to try and make an appointment with. She gave me no information on what it could be (of course I thought the worst) and refused to give him anything for pain or to try to improve his condition, even after discussing his advanced age and wanting to try to be conservative. She did not charge me for the visit-- I guess her own way of making herself feel better. It took me 2 weeks to get an appointment with a vet optho over an hour away, for which my dog suffered. His condition was acute glaucoma and eye drops fixed him THAT day. I am now going to a much better vet. BEWARE! read more

Extremely disappointed in the service our dog has received this year. Following a routine checkup, she was diagnosed as heartworm positive. During the initial diagnosis, we were advised that she would take an antibiotic for 30 days, immediately receive a first injection, then 30 days later a second injection and then another 30 days later a third. When questioning why this differed so drastically from the American Heartworm Society protocol, I was advised that they treat many heartworm patients and have found this to be most effective. Several weeks later when trying to speak with a vet about the insurance claim rejection she happened to notice that the timeline we were scheduled for was indeed NOT following the proper protocol. We had to cancel the scheduled appointments and make new ones in line with the actual protocol which is specifically what we spoke to the tech about the first time around. After the first injection our dog was having some scary side effects and we brought her in, only to be told we needed to take her elsewhere because they recently had 2 heartworm positive dogs under their care die because they didn't treat their side effects seriously enough and the dog's end was very "rough". Obviously this was not encouraging to say the least. Off to an ER vet ($$$$). Then for her final 2 injections, little to no observation performed (protocol calls for at least the rest of the day if not overnight observation), no discharge instructions, in fact - there was not even a single vet in the office that day to answer questions. We left questions at the desk told we'd receive a call later that day when there was actually a vet in. Called back that afternoon, they took the same questions down and said we'd get a call that day or next. 3 days later, no response, I call and get disconnected, then call back and get put on hold for 35 mins. Finally sent an email explaining that we really urgently need to speak with a vet regarding new symptoms our dog is experiencing and guidelines on how to move forward. Radio silence. It has been a very scary time for us handling our dog's care during what can be a life threatening disease and treatment and to be flat out ignored and left without a single bit of guidance is beyond discouraging, not to mention borderline malpractice. If your dog is diagnosed with heartworm, please for your dog's benefit and your own peace of mind find another practice to handle the treatment. We are now forced to find a vet who can take us in on an emergency basis ($$$) to ensure we get timely advice in a time sensitive situation. read more

I wouldn't even rate this place 1 star.. since adopting my dog, I have had the worst experiences with this establishment. The lack of communication there is horrible. They never return your calls. They never follow up with you in regards to blood work results, or anything that was done during your appointment with your animal. The staff they're... not all, but some are rude. I always have to call them to follow up on test results or the status of anything. When I do call them, I am placed on hold for sometimes 20 minutes or more. Placed on hold several times by several different people. Every time they come back to the line they asked me to repeat why I'm calling. No one there seems to know what's going on. You are never able to directly talk to the vet. Often times, I'm speaking to either a receptionist or office staff there. Most recently ... one of the office staff while I was on hold (for a 4th time) picked up. She asked "How can I help you?" I advised her that she was the 4th office staff person I was speaking to now. That the office staff member who answered prior to her....I had explained everything to her (for a 3rd time) and she put me on hold to get an update." Her rebuttal to me was " Well I don't know & I don't appreciate your tone." Now here is the thing! I didn't have a tone. Not at that moment anyway. But when she accused me of having a tone with her nasty attitude ....that's when I started to have a tone. I didn't yell . But I sternly told her that now I am going to have a tone. Now that she is accusing me of having one . Once I said that, she hung up the phone on me . The level of professionalism in there is unfathomable. I was so shocked & disgusted with the entire thing. I called back to speak to a manager and was told the manager was busy. They would have the manager call me back. Then they transferred me to the same girl who hung up the phone on me because apparently she schedules the Spays/Neutering appointments. She told me she didn't hang up the phone on me. She was just trying to find me on the line, and thought I hung up on her. Which was a complete lie. Management clearly does not care how their employees treat clients. The phone etiquette is horrible, lack of communication is horrible, and management horrible. If my adoption contract did not specifically state that I had to get my dog spayed there, I wouldn't. I am so weary and nervous about getting my dog spayed there. God forbid during her surgery something happens because of this poorly ran Veterinarian Hospital. Its sad I even have to think like that . Sad no one there cares, and that this place is being run like this. If I was the adoption agency, I would not affiliate with this establishment. this is supposed to be a family owned veterinarian animal hospital place, but the way it's being ran is sad. I really hope that when my dog gets spayed nothing bad happens. Oh, and I never received a call back from management either. At this point I just wanna be done with this place. read more

I just brought our new puppy in for a first visit with Dr. Kirsten Dorney. I have to admit I was a little nervous after reading a couple of the reviews here, but I'd driven past a couple of times and the facility looked big and impressive, as well as convenient. They also had much more flexible hours and open appointments where other vets didn't. So I gave it a shot. I'm so glad I did! I thought Dr. Dorney was extremely patient, knowledgable, had an instant rapport with my puppy, and was overall fantastic. She took lots of time to answer all my questions, even things about training and grooming - definitely the best vet experience I'd had. The office staff was very courteous, the office was much nicer than other place I'd been to, and I honestly don't have a single complaint. Very happy I went! read more

I don' t usually write bad reviews. Today I will be different My GR ( my sweet little baby) had an appointment today for yearly physical exam. I WILL SAY NEVER AGAIN! Doctor took my puppy to different room to weigh her and they gave her vaccines without me being there. I wanted to be there when she got her shots. This is unacceptable! When some nurse brought my puppy back she told me to go check out. Doctor never asked me if I have any questions. Doctor disappeared. I asked nurse to call the doctor. She did. Choose any place else. We have gone here for the past 14 years and it is not the same place it once was. When Dr. Jim Dorney was here, you knew that your pet was being treated by a competent, caring Vet. That is no longer the case. He has been gone for a number of years. For a while his daughter, Dr. Kay was here and she cared about the animals too. However, she was let go about a year and a half ago and the place has taken a very sharp downturn since then. A few months after she left, the office manager was replaced too. They "tidied up" the lobby but everything else has declined. It is like a rotating door in terms of vets and none of them are the entire package; ie: caring, competent and compassionate. Dr. Lepowski diagnosed my dog with heart disease and did so by slapping an x-ray of her heart on a screen and showing me how enlarged her heart was and asking me how I couldn't possibly have realized this (my dog was acting perfectly normally) and then told me I wouldn't have my dog for long. Her bedside manner was zero. The diagnosis was obviously not her fault but there had to be a kinder way to share the information with me. She was absolutely heartless. I vowed never to go back to her but there were 2 other vets so I planned to try them. We had already been with the practice for 13 years at this point and didn't really want to have to change. So the next time I brought her in we saw one of the other 2 doctors (this vet has since left the practice) and she asked me about the cataract in my dog's eye. My dog has a fake eye and the doctor would've known this if she opened the dog's file before coming in to see us. Again, not impressed with the level of professionalism. At this point, I was extremely disappointed with the practice, but the ladies at the front desk told me that I should try Dr. Tracy. So, for her 14th birthday we made an appointment with Dr. Tracy. I shared my concerns with her and she was lovely. I thought that I had finally found someone at the practice who my dog could stay with. This was back in March. Now, last month my dog had a crisis and had to be taken to an emergency clinic. I had all the records transferred to Summit Dog and Cat and called to let them know that she had been diagnosed with cancer and to discuss how we move forward with Dr. Tracy. I left 3 messages for her and 1 for the office manager. No one had the decency to call me back!! This is absolutely disgusting! I finally called again and told the front desk that I would wait for Dr. Tracy. They came back to tell me that she "doesn't really deal with cancer" and I would be better off talking with Dr. Lepowski (the heartless one)! I don't know how this practice is being run or what rock they hire their vets from under, but to be left in the twilight of your dog's life without a doctor and no support is just awful. Maybe the business is going under and that is why it is so poorly run, but there really is no excuse... I never received a return call about my beloved pet. The lack of competence at this place is only equalled by the utter lack of caring. Pick up your pet and run (do not walk) to any other vet and it will be a huge step up in care. read more

my cat died I had a cat with herpes who started to show weird symptoms a couple months ago -eating slower than usual, sneezing more often, sitting in the back of my closet. I didn't see her ever drink water. We took her to this vet, they gave a shot that made the sneezing go away. for a couple days, i thought she was ok. She had always been a slower, lap cat due to her condition but the symptoms were noticeably not something she would normally do. But after a couple days, she seemed even worse, despite the sneezing going away. We took her back to the vet who said she had a upper respirtory infection. I told her about the not drinking water, and if I should change the cat food or give her medicine for the herpes, I basically had to convince her to give me medicine or do any sort of treatment besides the shot. She laughed off my concerns, saying that cats hate water (my other cat drinks water everyday and LOVES water) and that the cat food was perfectly fine. (I KNEW the cat food was probably shit and I could buy a better brand but she told me not to do that. NO MATTER WHAT ANIMAL you are, better, fresher foods higher in nutrience will always be better for you, even if its not a cure). Anyway, so she gave my cat another shot, and we took her back to the house. she didn't seem much better, so a week later we brought her in a THIRD time. They said they were going to a do a biopsy on the cat to see what was wrong. My cat died due to a massive tumor blocking his heart, they didn't even get to do the biopsy before he passed during surgery from stress. What i don't understand is why they didn't do an x ray before to see that she had this tumor. I was asking a lot of questions and would have paid for it, but they didn't even give me the chance, they just laughed off the concerns i had. Its not their fault she died during surgery, but overall they didn't take actually caring for my pet seriously. these people go to school to learn about animals and what might be wrong with them, they should have known that her having a tumor was a total possiblity. I don't get why they thought it was "just" an upper respertory infection and the case was closed, like it couldn't possibly be anything else. My cat might still be alive if we had caught this early, but thanks to Dr. kristy or whatever my cat is DEAD! Fuck this place, these vets suck. They should be sued, and or in jail. read more

Awful service. Dr Tracey and the techs suck. I think the office should pay more attention to their patients and less on their decor. Paid over 400, no call from vet regarding results and now I have to see another vet. Shame on you! read more

Do yourselves a favor and save your pet. Find a new vet because they overlooked my dogs elevated liver enzymes and said it was fine. Now my dog is dead less than a month later. Thanks read more

We went to this place for 5 years. I was more disappointed with them after we moved out-of-state: 1) our new vet said the dog was missing tests/shots. When I called Summit Dog and Cat, they kept telling me had them. When the new vet called, Summit Dog and Cat said the dog didn't have them, and the new vet charged us for something the dog probably already had. 2) regarding the above, the records were not very clear therefore 3) We provided Summit Dog and Cat with proof that we had a rabies vaccine elsewhere, yet they didn't put in the records 4) called about these issues but didn't get good call-back read more

Have taken my two cats and two dogs here for years. I had ups and downs but overall believed that they provided a decent level of care. However, I will not ever be bringing them back. My older dog developed a limp. I was persuaded to have surgery (by Dr. K Dorney) to repair her ACL for a tear for $2,500. The orthopedic surgeon (not on staff) called me to tell me post-surgery that the tear "really wasn't all that bad." The poor dog's recovery was simply brutal and she has a permanent limp. After the surgery, she remained really lethargic so I took her back and a new vet on staff there had a bunch of testing done and it turned out the poor thing had Lyme disease which can cause joint issues. The new vet was clearly off script in telling me that her ACL might have been fine all along. So basically I initially paid them $2,500 to unnecessarily cripple my dog and leave her untreated for Lyme disease. Dr. Brevitz was great, but she left and there are plenty of other options out there for quality care. read more

I've been taking my pets (2 cats and 1 dog) to Summit Dog & Cat hospital for over 15 years and have been consistently happy. I find Dr K and the staff to be friendly, professional, and caring. We go for annual checkups, vaccinations, and I recently boarded my dog there during a vacation. I would recommend Summit Dog & Cat Hospital. read more
