Working with Sun Air was one of the best decisions we've made for our home. What started as a fairly ambitious project installing solar panels, battery storage, heat pump HVAC systems, hybrid heat pump water heater, upgrading our electrical service, and adding EV chargers could have easily become overwhelming. Instead, the entire process felt organized, transparent, and expertly managed from start to finish. From the very first meeting, it was clear we were dealing with a team that truly understands whole home electrification, not just individual systems in isolation. They took the time to evaluate our home's current energy usage, electrical panel capacity, and long term goals. They then designed an integrated solutions where everything works together efficiently and effectively. They explained the pros and cons of different equipment options without pushing unnecessary upgrades, which made it easy to trust their recommendations. The solar and battery installation was handled seamlessly. The crew was professional, punctual, and clearly experienced. They completed the work with attention to detail, clean wiring, and thoughtful placement of equipment. This ground mount solar system was comprised of 46 Maxeon 475 watt solar panels paired with Enphase micro inverters totaling to a 21.9kwh system which is located at the bottom of our property perfectly positioned for maximum sun exposure. The battery system integration was especially impressive, and they walked us through how backup power works in real world scenarios, not just in theory. They installed 6 FranklinWH 15kWh aPower 2 Batteries totaling 90kwhs of battery storage. The HVAC upgrade was two Carrier Infinity 23 series heat pump systems was another standout. They carefully assessed airflow, ducting, and insulation before installation, which made a noticeable difference in performance. Both Hvac systems and ductwork are sealed and balanced, so there is no air loss. The systems run quietly, maintains consistent even temperatures from room to room, and is far more efficient than our previous setups. As for air quality we chose to go with the Lennox Pure Air purifier Merv 16 filter with a UV light that helps fight mold, viruses, bacteria, pollen, dust, animal dandruff, and smoke from forest fires. We felt this was something we were in great need of, because of the horses, animals, and vegetation kicking up all the dust on our farm. All in all it was the best option out of all the air purifiers and we can tell a large difference with our home's air quality. The same level of care went into the Rheem ProTerra heat pump water heater installation and it's operating efficiently. It was installed in a way that minimizes noise and maximizes space. They ran a sheetmetal duct from the attic to pull hot air through the unit, so it runs more efficiently, and uses less electricity. The electrical service upgrade could have been disruptive, but they handled it with precision and clear communication. They coordinated inspections, permits, and utility interactions without us having to chase anything down. They upgraded two sub panels to 100 amps each from 50 amps and the main to 400 amps from 100 amps. Everything is labeled clearly, and the panel layouts are clean and are future proofed (ready for the new pool and hot tub). I feel relieved to have the old Zinsco fire hazard panels replaced. Adding three 50 amp Charge Point EV chargers was the final piece, and again, they thought ahead, and positioned the chargers for convenience while ensuring the electrical load was balanced with the rest of the electrical system. Charging is fast, reliable, and integrated smoothly into our overall energy setup. What really sets this contractor apart is their communication and project management. Peter, Adrian, Jake, Wyatt, and the other guys were a pleasure to be around. We always knew what was happening next, timelines were realistic, and any questions we had were answered thoroughly. There were no surprises, no shortcuts, no pressure, just consistent high quality work. Overall, this was a very large complex multi system upgrade, and they handled it with a level of professionalism, and care. This expertise is hard to find. Our home is now more efficient, more comfortable, and better prepared for the future. Were about to leave the country for 2 weeks when our propane fired furnace under the house went south. I had just enough firewood to cover us for a few days after we returned, but after that we had no heat, and the morning temps were hitting 36 F in our area (Santa Cruz mountains). Based on a neighbor's recommendation I contacted SunAir to see if, short term, they could get the old furnace running, and after that advise me as to replacing the 40 year old furnace with a new one. I contacted them late on Friday and they responded that they could stop by on Monday. When Peter showed up I went under the house with him to troubleshoot the furnace. To make a long story short we both agreed that trying to get the 40+ year old furnace running (dead control board) would be a waste of time. Also the ducting (mostly over 40 years old) was in pretty bad shape and installed in a sloppy manner. I got a quote from Peter for replacing just the furnace and another quote for a complete furnace and ductwork replacement. I decided to rebuild the whole system. Peter quoted 3 days to complete the job and was able to start a few days after that. Unfortunately, in the middle of the job we had a day of rain that ended up flooding under the house where the furnace was located. It turned their work area into a mucky mess, but they kept going and finished the job on time. I'm fairly certain that many other contractors, confronted with the same circumstances, would have halted the work and left us with no heat for many more days. We have worked with Peter and Sun Air a number of times (moving furnace and new tank less water heater to our attic, re-doing all of our ducting, installing a small split AC unit in our second story) and they have always gone above and beyond. Our most recent job with Peter and his crew was a complete re-do of our two bathrooms and kitchen simultaneously. We moved out during this work (& out of the area) and had no concerns that the job would not be done on time and up to our high standards. Peter dealt with all issues that arose (items which took longer as a result of Covid, confusion on timing from subcontractors we hired) and our additions and worked hard to complete the job in the time frame he promised us. He is always neat and attentive to our home. Additionally, he brought some things to our attention that he thought would be better done in another way-and every time he was right! He made what could have been such a stressful process so easy for us. We are thrilled with how it all turned out-the subcontractors he use have the same work ethic and are perfectionists just as he is. He got the last details finished once we moved back in done in a timely manner as well (with contractors we have worked with in the past this part was like pulling teeth-took a lot of work to get them back to finish-not so with Peter-he had each trade scheduled to come by in take care of the final touch ups). We cannot recommend him and his crew strongly enough. If you hire Peter for a job, you will never be disappointed! We know we will use him again in the future. read more

Woke up in the middle of the night to find out that my furnace wasn't working at all, so I came across Yelp online, and found SunAir. We emailed the company and Jenelle responded rather quickly with an appointment that accommodated our busy schedule. Peter came and assessed the situation. Come to find out our furnace was over 24 years old and the heat exchanger had hair line cracks (he showed us with his telescopic camera), so he recommended a new furnace. We decided that maybe an upgrade on the whole hvac system might be the better way to go (since the whole system was 24 years old and the ducts were leaking air), so we got three quotes from other Heating & Air Conditioning companies, and SunAir was right there in the middle with the price. The other companies agreed with the furnace needing to be replaced as well (which made us more comfortable with SunAir), so we decided to go with them. The whole overhaul took about 7 days and the crew were very responsive to any questions that we had. They were on time and very friendly everyday during the process of the heating & air conditioning installation. The work was finished in the time frame and the quality install was definitely felt through out our home. We have airflow in areas that we didn't before (wife is super happy). We recently used SunAir for a furnace replacement and air conditioning installation with new ductwork, since our heating system was original from the 1980's. Peter and staff were professional, quick and did an excellent job! I was impressed with the fact that the owner was on site the whole time for the new Hvac installation from beginning to end. It made me more comfortable. Since we were so impressed with with SunAir we decided to use them for our solar installation as well. Peter did a whole house energy audit and told us where improvements were needed to help bring down energy demands. They installed a 6.45 kWh grid tie in solar system and did l.e.d. lightning upgrades through the our home. It feels good to be part of the green movement. Sun Air recently installed a new HVAC system. Both the AC install and furnace installation went smooth with no hiccups. The workmanship and professionalism was excellent. Our new Bryant Evolution high efficiency system runs perfectly and quietly. In addition, he installed a Honeywell electronic air purifier, and attic fan to enhance our air quality, and energy load. They also installed a new fan light combo exhaust fan for our master bedroom, new water heater, and new lighting in our garage. This Heating & Air Conditioning company goes one step beyond in making sure his customers receive a professional job, done in a timely fashion, and with the least amount of interruption to your daily life. When I think of hiring anyone, I often think the adage that "You get what you pay for." All my ducting was in shambles underneath my house. I got 3 quote and Sun Air was the highest quote of the bunch about 15% higher than the next quote. I called Peter and told him he was the highest quote and at first he was a little irritated but he really explained to me what he was going to do and his quote included some things that no one even discussed with me. Well he did the job. On time, very clean, very professional and overall a superb job. 2 things happened on the job. One the original contractor did not install my furnace correctly and as a result thereof there was a gap which let air in the house. And as he explained the problem, I was kind of expecting that he was going to charge me, but he just did the work. Also, I needed an air vent duct from my dryer to the outside. He took the duct through the roof and did a great job. Once again, an unforeseen problem but he just did the work at no additional job. I would wholeheartedly recommend Peter and Sun Air. Our very old furnace went out (cracked) in early February this year while it was still very cold. When we thought it could just be fixed, we called many companies, and Peter was the only one who answered the phone and came by right away to see if he could fix it. It was 101 degrees out and my air conditioner decided to quit working, so I was is need of a mechanical contractor. I went over to my neighbor Steve's house who just had his heating and air conditioning replaced by SunAir, so I asked him how his system was running, and he seemed to be extremely pleased with Peter's company. Needlessly to say I retrieved the phone number from him for SunAir since he was so happy with Pete's work. Peter came on time and quickly diagnosed the issue. The compressor was blown which really didn't surprise me, because we had that ac unit for 23 years. We had him replace our outdoor unit and evaporator coil in order to have our cooling system work properly. We were very pleased with his professionalism and his work ethic. He is friendly and knows his proffesion. The ac repair took about 6 hours and we were cool again. These guys are like the doctors of Hvac and we would refer them like Steve did to us. I don't even know where to start, because the project was so large. Peter Cross who is the owner of Sun Air came out and gave us a quote for a whole home conversion from all gas appliances to electric which we have been meaning to do for quite sometime. After careful thought, since the project was such a large investment, we chose to move forward with it. It included a full solar installation with whole home back up batteries. A new main panel upgrade with one sub-panel. A heat pump water heater installation with a water softener and whole house water filter. In addition, we added a new central Hvac heat pump installation with all new ductwork for the main house and a four zone mini split heat pump installation for the pool house, the four zones were necessary for the pool house as it has vaulted ceilings. Additionally, two car chargers with an additional circuit to convert our gas range to electric. We are now a gas free house with no electric bill. I called SunAir from Aptos, Ca to do a furnace repair when my furnace quit working. Peter informed us that our furnace was 47 years old and it would be better to think about a furnace replacement instead of a repair, so after some thinking we decided to go with the 2 stage high efficiency 96.6% furnace replacement. Peter said it would be a better investment and energy savings, so we moved forward with the installation process. They were very respectful of the surroundings in and out of our house. The crew was always on time and happy to work. It was a pleasure having them. One month later we received our energy bill and boy was he right, our bill dropped about $85 a month for the heating season. Peter, owner of SunAir, literally saved my house which at the time had a rodent infestation in the ducts under the house and they were coming into the house!! The ducting was replaced and brought up to code and the rodent's entry point behind the dryer was then replaced with sheet metal making further entry impossible. So my house was safe again and peace was finally restored. I found Peter through a neighbor and Peter is one of the angels in my life. He and his crew, one being his father-in-law corrected all of the existing deficiencies of my out of code system under my house and on a very hot miserable day. What a nasty JOB! Sun Air recently installed a new heat pump, fan coil, and thermostat in our Felton home. They were simply GREAT in every aspect of the job. Sun Air owner Peter and his assistant Adrian came initially to examine our existing (27-year-old) unit for possible repair, and immediately noticed some faulty wiring (which a previous repair crew had completely missed), but also that our heat pump component was no longer functional. So we discussed options for a new unit, which Peter presented and explained carefully. The cost quoted was very fair. Installation required a few days but went very smoothly.
