I typically buy my sporting goods online. I am able to get exactly what I want and without the hassle of going to the store and searching through racks and bins. However, there are occasions when I just can't wait and need something on the spot. Just such an occasion happened recently and I found myself visiting Sun & Ski twice in one week. My first trip was for a pair of "LockLaces" for an upcoming race I have. While they did not have what I was looking for they had a competing brand of laces. I didn't end up getting them but their sales staff was helpful in locating the laces in the store and was very apologetic that they did not carry the brand I was looking for. The second time I was in was for a pair of swim fins for swim training. I was able to find what I was looking for quickly and was in and out of the store in less than 15 minutes. If you enjoy shopping for sporting goods in person and don't absolutely have to have a very specific brand of good you're likely to find what you're looking for here. The store is large and has a wide variety of sporting apparel, goods, tools, etc. However, if you are like me and typically want exactly what you want in color, brand, etc you might try here but you will likely have to go online to order it. read more

Do they read their reviews???? Consistently bad customer service the three times I've been in the store. If they did not have the selection, I would never enter the store. If you want to feel invisible and be dealt with like you are a nuisance to someones day, this is the store for you. Lots of cool outdoor gear. Most is pretty pricey but excellent selection. I'm a mountain bike rider and go in to check out the section for bikes, parts, and see what's new. Good luck getting some help at the bike counter. I've been in 3 time and been ignored all 3 times. Apparently I'm not cool enough for the guys behind the counter. My husband and I just went in to buy a bicycle for each of us. Bikes aren't cheap and we're not knowledgeable. I also wanted to look at cycling shoes. We walked around and tried to find someone to help us. No one helped us. No one even said hi the entire 30 ish min we were there. If someone was really great my husband would have easily bought two bikes and a helmet or two... Probably could have spent about $1000 today. But we just left and aren't now headed to Bixby bicycles to look there. I was truly disappointed. read more

They have everything you can imagine when it comes to the outdoors. They however fail severely on customer service. It makes me wonder why since they are paid on commission. Make sure you know what you are looking for when you go in. Each time I have gone, I have not gotten good service. Luckily my outdoor knowledge is solid. They are not a specialty shop in any of their equipment. I would suggest going to a specialty shop if you are unsure of what you are looking for. read more

I just had the best experience! Tyler back in the ski area is incredibly knowledgeable and helpful!! Also, they have a big sale going on in the shoe department and while some of my favorite brands are excluded, the sales associate told me that if I paid full price for the excluded brand, I could still get half off of the shoes on sale (so they still help qualify you for the special!). That was great customer service because I would not have even considered looking! read more

I highly recommend going somewhere else. As has been stated in previous reviews, customer service is at an all-time low here. I used to always shop here, but more and more with the passage of time the place is starting to reek. They have a little of everything, but it seems they don't do anything very well anymore. This place is a real mixed bag. SOME of the merchandise is decently priced (bicycle accessories specifically) but definitely not all. (Patagonia is here, which is harder to find.) There is a 10% veterans discount which is nice, so if it applies, ask for it. The employees are not the sort to approach customers, leaving you to shop in peace. The other side to this coin is that it is more difficult to get peoples attention. Bicycles are better bought elsewhere. The brands aren't great and the employees specifically assigned to that department are very chummy with each other but look at customers as a distraction. At least that's my impression. There has only been one single occasion when someone from the bike department has offered to help me. I have learned to educate myself online and THEN go to the store. I rate customer service a single star, about 2.5 on merchandise, an extra point for veterans and I arrive at a kind 2 stars. read more

I guess I should have read the other reviews first, apparently customer service or helpfulness is the kryptonite of every employee who works here. If you want to see how fast their employees can run either look like you might need help or make eye contact with an employee. I specifically went in today to get a pair of Plae shoes for my toddler and unfortunately for me they are they only store in the Tulsa area that carries them. My son recently started wearing leg braces (AFOs) and I needed to get him some shoes that would fit over his braces so I need to take him in person and make sure we got the right fit. I get that set up for their shoe department is largely self service and I was ok with that but in looking through boxes I found mismatched shoes etc. An employee came by and asked if I needed help, I said yes and as I was in the middle of explaning which shoe I was looking for he walked away from me. Ok found the right size but there was only one shoe in the box. Same employee comes back by I am holding one shoe we make eye contact and someone must have lit a fire under his bum and he rushed to the back. Boy was he disappointed to see I was still there when he moseyed on out from the back a couple minutes later. Finally found the matching shoe go up front to pay, there is a lady behind the counter but I guess not running the cash register says oh hey then yells for another employee. While I was there I found other items that I was interested in but frankly am not interested in giving them anymore of my money, I'll buy the items elsewhere. read more

I have shopped at Sun and Ski for the past several years, and have always been impressed by the wide array of clothing, shoes and equipment that they carry. Unfortunately, their customer service at the store in Tulsa , leaves alot to be desired. I had purchased a jacket as a Christmas gift for my son, and within one month of normal wear, the zipper teeth began to fall out. I called and spoke with a salesclerk, who transferred me to one of the store managers. He told me to bring the jacket by the store, and they would take a look at it. I took the jacket to the store , and was told by another manager that they would not replace or refund the jacket, but instead I would have to send it back to the manufacturer. I was treated in a way that made me feel as if they thought I was being dishonest, yet I had the receipt, explained that I had washed it according to the instructions, and that it clearly was a defect in the material. The manager implied that my son had not taken very good care of it , but said something insulting ( my son was standing right there) about him being a "boy". I have been in customer service for thirty years, and I know that there are many ways to turn an unhappy customer into a repeat customer. No attempt was made to work with me, and I have a hard time believing that no one had the authority to make this situation right without putting me through the process of returning it to North Face, waiting 8 weeks ( at which point in time my son would have gone through the major part of the winter without his jacket), and possibly being put through the hoops by North Face. It was such a disappointment, for my son and me. This was his first "nice" jacket, and unfortunately, will be the last time I take any business to Sun and Ski. I would recommend anyone considering shopping here, to take their business elsewhere or order online from another company. read more
