So I am staying with a friend who just lost his young wife to breast cancer. The house he is staying in is run by a charity because all of their possessions are at their new home in Idaho. Needless to say there is already enough stress without adding more.The charity that runs the home sent Son appliance service to repair the washing machine. I met him at the house between the hours of one and three as they stated. Within 15 minutes he had diagnosed and repaired a loose bracket. Before he left, I asked him if he had tested the washing machine and made sure it was good to go. He stated " you're good to go" I went to do a load of laundry and got a call service message on the washing machine. The fact is, we were not good to go. I called the appliance repair company and spoke to a gentleman who stated he would not be sending the tech back until he got a full report from his technician. I explained that they were called to repair the washing machine and that is not done, and what else do they need to know? He told me they will not do anything till tomorrow. I asked him if the owner was in and he said "no", then I asked him if that was the best They could do and he said "yes". Should I be surprised this company has a two star yelp rating? read more

Bosch sent these guys out to inspect problems we had with the installation of our new combo oven which was not hard to install...but somehow the micro wasn't getting power although the oven was. Jose spent an hour checking, got on the phone with Bosch and created a whole domesday scenario that included electrical wattage problems that did not really exist and a blown power panel that would not be covered by warranty...never asked us any questions during the process regarding the installation etc and had us all freaked out. The next day I had an appliance installation company come and within 10 minutes they said all the wiring from our installation was done correctly and the only thing is that one of the connections was loose. And I had a working microwave in half an hour. Clearly this company does not know what they are doing. I called Sun Appliance after I received a recommendation. Our dryer was not heating. Lisa was our dispatcher and she was amazing can't say enough good things about her. She handled the call with the upmost urgency and explained everything to us. Juan was out technician that came out and he fully explained everything was on time and made sure to check the dryer throughly. Very polite gentleman. Super great tech. Turned out it was only a fuse. Thank you Sun Appliance! Great from the get go! I had originally called Sears repair where I bought the appliances, what a nightmare. Sun Appliance came to the rescue. They came out and assessed the issues with my built- in Kitchen Aid microwave and Thermador Professional Range. I appreciated their promptness, and how they were willing to work with us especially since we were out of town. Great follow up. The tech, Jose was so nice and explained the issues. I called out this company to fix a freezer seal on a fairly new freezer. They came out and said they thought that they fixed it, but to call them back within 30 days if it wasn't working properly. I tried calling them back at their phone number and no one has answered within the 30 days. I finally gave up and I'm going to have to call another company. I would never recommend this company. Add me to the list of people who aren't happy with Sun Appliance. While the service technician was nice and (hopefully) fixed the issue, the price for the job was out of line and not what I was quoted. My ice maker was leaking. called Sun Appliance, gave them the model number and told them what the problem was. They thanked me for giving them the model number because it allowed them to order any parts before the technician came out. When the technician arrived, he said the ice maker needed a new valve. He didn't have the valve on his truck (even though I was told they'd order any parts in advance of the technician coming out), so he had to come out a week later to install the valve. Neither Sun Appliance nor the technician told me there would be another labor charge for installing the valve. I was charged $95 for the initial service call, another $45 for labor to have the valve installed, plus $48 for the valve that I was told would be $40. Almost $200 to repair an ice maker -- I feel I was taken advantage of. I called and spoke with a supervisor who told me that's just the way it is. read more

We've used Sun Appliance Service on several different occasions over the years, to repair our dishwasher, refrigerator, washing machine, and microwave oven. (We don't have the greatest luck with appliances!) Every time they have been responsive, courteous and professional. On several occasions the first fix did not work and they did not charge us for the return visit, including for additional parts that were required. I've always been happy with their technicians and if they don't have the answer the owner gets involved and solves the problem. One note: they do not work on Samsung and LG products so if you're shopping for new appliances in the desert you may find that the nearest repair technician for those brands has to come from Redlands. read more

OK, so the update is, it gets worse. The service tech comes back out, says, oh, it's not the thermostat after all, the oven needed to be calibrated. He performs the calibration, and finally, the oven heats to temperature. I tell him, I shouldn't have to pay for the thermostat that we didn't need, he agrees and says the office will call me the next day to arrange a refund, and that they "man up" to their mistakes. No call. I call them, surly receptionist, passes me off to the service manager who tries to tell me that they owe me nothing since I did get a new thermostat. I remind him we only have a new thermostat because of their error and that we were happy with the old one, if your guy had performed the repair correctly in the first place. We go round and round for quite a while. He (think his name is Steve), must have finally decided that I wasn't going to let it drop and said I'll refund you 50%, that's it, no more discussion. Finally I agreed, although I still feel that they made the mistake and I shouldn't have to pay for a part and installation that I didn't need. I asked how much the refund would be and he got angry. I asked again, and he put the phone down to go find out. In the meantime, I can hear the office conversation they are having. They were discussing how they should have lied to me and that "he would never have known the difference" if they had. Really? That's the way to run a business, cheat the customer because they don't' know any different. I still haven't received the refund, which was supposed to "go out on Monday", not sure I will, but my hope is that this review will at least keep others from making the same mistake and having them do any work. This is one of the worst companies I've dealt with. The Owner/Service Manager "Bruce" is unethical, mean/rude, blames customers for his mistakes, has poor communication, and practices fraud. BACKGROUND Our 2 year old Maytag Washer died. Maytag recommended Sun Appliance as a authorized repair shop. I paid $90 for Sun Appliance to come diagnose my machine's issue. The technician was nice and advised me it was the control panel that failed. They don't stock them so he would have one ordered. FIRST ISSUE: Quote didn't match final costs. Their office called me the next day with a quote. I spoke with Lisa. She stated it would be $235 for parts and labor to replace the control panel. I approved it orally, but asked them to email me the quote. They never emailed the quote (my email was even printed on the service ticket). The technician came back 7 days later to make the repair. When they completed the work they charged us $302.84 plus the original $90, for a total of $392.84. When I called Bruce to understand the difference he said he made a mistake but wasn't able to help me. I explained that I thought it was unethical to quote one price and charge another without prior consent. He got defensive and immediately offered to come back out and remove the part! WTF?!?! I asked him again to just explain. He said we signed the "service ticket", to which I said it was only to acknowledge the work was completed. SECOND ISSUE: replacing parts that didn't need replacement When the technician arrived to replace the control panel, he started replacing the motor and the stator. I asked what they were doing and one of them said that the motor and stator were "under warranty" and it won't cost me anything to replace them. It didn't resolve the problem. They had to replace the control panel anyways. When I called the office and asked Bruce why they replaced the motor and stator he said it's normally the problem so he ordered them. I told him I thought it was odd given he didn't do the diagnosis and he wasn't in our house. He stated he was "doing us a favor". He went down this long story about how I got a free motor and stator out of the deal and I should be happy. THIRD ISSUE: stacked appliances The technician said he would need to charge us more for labor because our full-size washer and dryer were "staked". I asked why. He said because they would need to send two technicians to move it. I agreed, but thought it was odd given only one technician move it to diagnose it. On the day of repair there was two technicians. One of them pulled the stacked machines out away from the wall using a plastic mat - which was the same procedure used during the diagnose visit with only one guy. Later when I was speaking with Bruce, he told me that the washer and dryer weren't meant to be stacked. WTF?!?! I told him that Maytag actually provided the stacking kit, and Maytag fully supports stacking. He then said that it was harder to move stacked machines. I told him that they were originally installed by ONE person 2 years ago. I also told him it only took ONE guy from Sun Appliance to pull them out for the diagnosis. FORTH ISSUE: baseboards The final issue is that the two technicians banged up, marked up and made our baseboards dirty. When I advised Bruce about it he said there was nothing he could do about it. First this rating is for the business not the field workers. All the service workers that I have had help with (3 different gentlemen) were OUTSTANDING. This review is for the Owner/Manger Bruce. If you look at any of the other negative reviews on here you will see about the same thing. Bruce is an augmentative angry man. I called with some simple questions about servicing (scheduled through Maytag) and about time frames of having my appliance repaired. To say the least I was given the run around (by Bruce). He contradicted himself numerous times and when I asked him about this he got very argumentative and even gave me an excuse that he "has too much business". First time I have ever heard of a small business owner complain of that. After this I contacted Maytag and filed a complaint with them. Our ice maker shut down so we contacted Whirlpool who then referred us to Sun Appliance. We made an appt for the following day. They called in the morning to let us know what time they would be there. They then called again 10 minutes before to let us know the Tech was on his way. I have lived in Palm Springs for 30 years, and have called on Sun Appliance on a Inumber of occassions. This time, our 20+ year old refrigerator was giving us grief, and we were quite concerned that an outrageously expensive replacement would be in order (it is a commercial size behemoth, that came with the house). So far so good, with a $300 repair. But the reason I am writing this review is to sing the praises of the technician Charles. He not only gave us good advise on how to best maintain the unit, he also took a quick peek at the dishwasher that didn't require a fix, but just a few tips on "best practices" to make it work better. I had Sun come out to my house to fix my leaking washing machine because they did such a good job fixing a microwave I took to their shop. The microwave was fixed quickly, for less money than I anticipated, so I gave them a call for the washing machine. I had originally called Sears about the washing machine problem. Sears quoted a price of well over $400 and said two people were needed to make the repair. Sun sent one person (Charles, who was fantastic) and did the job efficiently for $261. Appliance repair can be fraught with shady characters. I've been nothing but satisfied with my two Sun Appliance experiences. read more

First, I searched for a Kitchen Aid service from Kitchen Aids web site and I was prompted towards 1-800-Appliance. I called and they gave me a service call date on Feb. 25, 2021of Mar. 1, 2021 and a service charge of $139.95 just to show up. The service tech showed up on Mar 1st and said my dishwasher needed a new pump. The dishwasher is only 3 years old and the tech said he could come the first part of the next week to repair. However, that same day I received an automated email showing I could not get the dishwasher repaired until Mar. 17th. By that time I was in too much money to cancel and had to wait. The worst part is the tech came on the 17th, changed the pump but would not fix the leak that he caused in the hose and said I or a handy man would have to change out that hose. This guy actually did work for Sun Appliance Service. He was nice, pleasant but not too helpful. I will never use the 1-800-Appliance call number again or Sun Appliance Service. read more

They tell me that they only come up to Yucca valley on Thursdays. They replaced a oven part 3 weeks ago. The new oven stopped working a week after they fixed it. They came out the oven stopped working again. They told us they could not get back out to us for 2 more weeks. I asked if we were in Palm springs would they be there earlier . They said we have more employees that work down there . But since we live in the high desert we get what have left after all the other appointments. We bought a Whirlpool Dryer from Home Depot. The latch broke. Home Depot scheduled a service call for today to fix it. Sun Appliances took it upon themselves to reschedule the appointment until 7/25 at the last minute. We had already made arrangements for someone to be at the house between 8 am and 4 pm to wait for the service person. Not good service at all. This business has no customer service! I've had quite the morning. My dishwasher broke last Wednesday February 27th. It was early morning. I called the 1-800 number on Bosch dishwasher. They are great to deal with it! She then gives me the service number for my area. They were booked so I made my appointment for the following week. I also requested a time frame because I had a Dr appointment at 11 am. I also called two days before my appointment to request a time frame again because my Dr appointment. I talked to my Dr and they said they would work around my dishwasher appointment. Today is my appointment. I've been up since 6 am waiting patiently for the service phone call. Started with a phone call from Lorena at 8:37 am. She said the technician would be here at my home by 10am. I said could he possibly come at 2 pm she said if this time doesn't work you can reschedule for next week. I thanked her for being kind. She called me back at 8:40 am and I said hello Lorena and she said the time is 11am to 1 pm. I said you said by 10 am and I just cancelled my Dr appointment for 11 am. I said Loren this is not acceptable all these different time changes. I asked to talk to her manager or someone in charge. She said you have me confused with Meagan the other girl I didn't call you before. I said yes, you did. I Never forgot a voice. I was put on hold and Dave answered I said what's going on here? I repeated what Lorena said and her two phone calls to me and he said that's not true basically calling me a liar! He denied the two phone calls! He also gave me a new time frame 11am to 2 pm! I asked him if this is how they conduct their business and that this behavior was not acceptable and asked what he had to say about it? He said you can reschedule for next week and didn't care about customer service! I asked for his name to put this review up and Dave said I don't feel comfortable telling you that!!! He feels comfortable mistreating customers calling you a liar but not giving his last name!!! I'm waiting for the service man to show up! None of this is his fault. I've moved my Dr appointment to 4 pm. I'm also calling Bosch to alert them of how horrible this company is! The service technician Charles M. Was here at 12:30. He was wonderful! I would never recommend this company to anyone. They are terrible! I would give them a big fat zero! Kitchen Aid referred us to Sun Appliance which was a huge mistake. We had a leaking water filter. Sun Appliance came out to house and said they could not stop the leak because they could not tell if leak was from refrigerator or washer-dryer on the other side of a wall. Really? They charged us $100 walked out (water filter still leaking) and referred us to Flood Response. We ended up simply removing water filter, which stopped leaking and replaced with a new filter, problem solved! We recently redid our kitchen in black stainless Kitchenaid appliances. The microwave part of the oven combo gave an error message after two weeks. The repair service locally is Sun Appliance. John Ochoa was the tech who came out promptly. He is a very nice guy, professional and knowledgeable. He diagnosed the problem, got the part from Kitchenaid and all works well now. I needed a repair on ice maker. The woman answering the phone told me she would need a credit card before an appt. I gave her the card and asked to email and call back to schedule. A few days later I called to see why no call to schedule. She said the service call was tomorrow. I asked her how did it get scheduled as I work? She had no excuse but said the call would be in the morning. Ok I changed my schedule to accommodate. I called the next morning to confirm. She told me the route was changed to afternoon and there was nothing she could do. I asked to speak to a manager. He told me there was nothing he could do and that's the way it is. Sun Appliance came to fix our ice maker twice over the last four years while under the warranty. Of course, the ice maker no longer works and the warranty ran out but I called them because they easily fixed the problem before and I trusted they could do it again. However, the getting them to come is a challenge. I made an appointment over a week ago. They said they could come Thursday morning (today) and would call first thing in the morning with a time frame. When they didn't call by 8:15, I called and was told they'd call in 20 minutes. I confirmed with them that it had to be in the morning. I did get a call back and was told the technician would come between 1-4. Unless you have absolutely nothing to do in your life but wait for a phone call and wait for a time you didn't ask for, don't bother with this company. Terrible service. Bought new Bosch dishwasher. There was a huge scratch in the top area where the controls are. Sun appliance came out to replace the part. They showed up and they had the wrong part. Then when they came back ( 2 weeks later ) and replaced the part the dishwasher did not work. Now we are being told that we have to wait a week for them to come back out !!!! Geez !!!! It worked. Terrible customer service. I scheduled a dryer repair and had to wait a week for a tech. The dryer was just making a small rubbing noise at that point. The techs came and worked on it and charged over $200. When they left, I ran a load of wash and the dryer doesn't work at all now. Terrible metallic clanking noise. Obviously not put back together correctly. When I called, 3 times, to have them come back, no one would return my call. When I finally spoke to the supervisor, he told me it would be almost a week until they could schedule a return trip. No interest at all in customer relations. read more

Sun Appliance refuses to service LG appliances anymore even though they are listed as a service provider with LG. Sun Appliance came out on 6/14/2013 to replace a defective icemaker on an LG refrigerator that we purchased from Home Depot for $2100 on 9/16/11. Two years later, we are having the same problem. Sun Appliance refuses to come look at it so now I have to pay a different company $500 to do the same job again. read more

I will never use this company again. They charged me $90 to tell be it was going to cost me $239.00 to fix my washer. I initially called them to tell them what was necessary to fix my washer. I needed a new hose and then when they arrived to my home and told me the cost I said I was not paying that for a hose. I waited 3 days and a 4 hour window for them to even show up. They charge you a service call along with labor, parts and tax. I do believe the office person over the phone could have given me an estimate prior to this happening. Typically a good business would have waived the service call once they perform the work. Not this company . This is unfair business practice and I will never use Sun Appliance again nor will I any longer refer them business. The $90 they received from me will end up costing them.
