Scott was the one who helped me with my truck which had an A/C issue. My current profession is HVAC for residential/commercial. Mentioning that, I understand the concept of A/C, just don't work on vehicle A/C specifically. I've even replace parts and added Freon in my own vehicle. I pay attention to the service, detail, reasoning to why something went wrong, and why I need it to be replaced. Scott was professional and explain everything to a T. I've been to other mechanic shops where the try to rip me off and ended doing it myself, but in my line of work, I hate do it because I don't got the time. My check engine light came on as I was driving out of Las Vegas to Los Angeles. I called my mechanic in Ohio, Antonio, and he said that I needed to find a shop so they could scan the car and reset the computer/ erase the code. I called Sun Auto Service and Keith said that I could bring the car right over. He looked at my car right away. Keith scanned the car, looked under the hood and verified that everything was connected to the motor, and then reset the car's computer to erase the code. The check engine light went away, the car sounds better, and Keith didn't charge me anything for the service. Keith was also very friendly and kind on the phone and in person! I recommend this shop. After 7 hours of waiting Scott finally got back to me in an email, stating the car was overheating and needed to have the thermostat changed and another test. When I drove my car there it didnt overheat as it was a long drive now it overheats. The first price was Quoted 1059, then I said it has never overheated ans he change the price to 759..I refuse to pay as needed a second opinion. But the disgoatic charge was 130, for a code I already new was the issue. The bad part is the jumping of prices, shows that they just throw random numbers out to see if you will pay. Headline: Beware the "Free Oil Change" Lure - A Lesson in Due Diligence I came in for a promo oil change, only to realize it was a lure for a high-pressure sales strategy. I was greeted by an advisor, Gauge, who pushed me to open a store credit card to get a "free" oil change. They used the "multi-point inspection" as a sales pitch, quickly quoting me $150 to replace my engine and cabin air filters--parts that cost about $20 total. When I questioned the price, Gauge promised to "price match" if I showed him the $20 price online. I showed him the exact parts on Amazon, but he immediately went back on his word, claiming the lowest he could do was $65. He then tried to "deal" by offering to only change one filter for $20 or having me buy the parts elsewhere for him to install. I refused to be duped by these games and told him I could Google how to do it myself. I'm proud to say I figured it out, changed both filters in minutes, and saved $130. I have since closed my account and will not return. I refuse to give my hard-earned money to a business that casually exploits people without remorse. To everyone else: Do your research. If I could give zero stars, I would. Sun Auto wasted our time, took $1,733.57, lied about our warranty, and left us with a bigger problem than we started with. Here's exactly what happened: * We brought my wife's Jeep in because the A/C was blowing hot air. Sun Auto said it was just a fuse and an A/C recharge -- that cost us $483.57. * That "fix" didn't last 30 minutes. The A/C blew cold air for a few miles, then went right back to blowing hot. * We brought it back. This time they said it was the compressor, and told us it had shorted out two compressors. They said they'd called the warranty company to get it covered -- but they never did. They flat-out lied. * Then they told us the fuse box was causing the problem, so they replaced that too. We paid another $1,250 and they promised us it was "definitely fixed this time." * We picked the car up -- halfway home, the A/C started blowing hot air again. Same exact problem. We finally took the car to T & M Automotive for a real second opinion. Here's exactly what T & M said on their invoice: "Customer took vehicle to Sun Auto for AC concerns. Sun Auto replaced fuse and AC compressor and fuse box. Vehicle still had same problem. AC blows cold with low amp fuse blows hot with proper amp fuse. Found short to ground in fuse box connector. Located broken connector. Removed fuse block and connector repaired wiring for compressor circuit installed new fuse and recharged system AC blowing cold now." On top of that, T & M also found that Sun Auto installed the WRONG fuse: They put in a 15 amp fuse when it should have been a 10 amp fuse. So not only did Sun Auto fail to fix the actual issue -- they made it worse by installing the wrong fuse, which could have caused even more damage. T & M diagnosed it properly, fixed the wiring, put in the correct fuse, and recharged the system -- all for $625. And it finally works. Customer service was just as bad as the repairs: I called Sun Auto's customer service line and was told district manager Cameron Goodall would call me back within 48 hours. He never did. I called back on July 3, spoke to Sesily, who gave me the wrong number for Cameron -- when I called it, I was cursed out because it wasn't his number. I called back, spoke to Mindy, got the right number. When I finally reached Cameron, he hung up on me. I called customer service again to escalate to the regional VP Chris Doster -- still haven't heard a word back. They just do not care once they have your money. BOTTOM LINE: Sun Auto lied about calling our warranty company, misdiagnosed the problem multiple times, shorted out compressors, installed the wrong fuse, and charged us thousands for work that didn't fix the issue. Another mechanic fixed it properly in one visit for a fraction of the cost. This place is dishonest, incompetent, and makes problems worse. They will attempt to overcharge consumers for unnecessary repairs and misdiagnose issues to exploit customers. I "suspect" they intended to replace our OEM alternator with a cheaper part while selling the original for profit--all over a simple brake fluid issue. On April 28, 2025, I took my wife's 2002 Honda Odyssey to Sun Auto, located at 4539 Blue Diamond Rd., Las Vegas, NV 89139, due to the vehicle displaying a "brake fluid may be low" warning message (first appearing on 4/27/2025). I spoke with Scott, a front desk employee, who informed me they were about to begin a team meeting and suggested I return the next day (4/29/2025) since they were nearing closing time. I agreed and took his business card. On Tuesday, April 29, 2025, my wife brought the Honda in for inspection along with our two children (a 3-year-old son and 8-month-old daughter). After the inspection, the service advisor, Haydin Newbiggin, informed her that the vehicle needed a new alternator because it was "overcharging" and that the battery was "bulging" with a smell of battery acid coming from the A/C vents. My wife immediately texted me about the issue. Our 2022 Honda Odyssey only has 59,200 miles, and I had not observed any flickering lights or electrical issues--common symptoms of a failing alternator or battery. Given that Sun Auto quoted $1,631.77 for the repairs, I advised my wife not to proceed with their services, as I believed we only needed new brake fluid. I had to call a few times again person that answer the call first said my car was ready I can come pick it up while I was on my way to go I get a call back that the car was not ready that there is still no estimated time for my part since it's still on "back order" on the the 2nd month I went there and popped up to do a check up myself and get updated and they first tried to hand me someone else's car keys and said nothing was wrong with my car ? I had to tell them how is that possible if I brought it in for overheating ? And your mechanics yourself a told me my fuel pump was bad ? Definitely showed me there no communication between them and there clients then had another guy come and tell me there was still no estimated time for my part for my car I took my keys and towed my car out of there because no work was done to my car while being parked there for 2 months !!! Took pictures and recorded all the extra damage by leaving it with them my car was out in the sun for 2 months building dirt on the outside that can be damaging to my paint and they killed my battery on my car couldn't even start it but was told it is still in driving conditions ? Like how do you even know if the battery has been dead obviously shows you haven't even checked the car ? And noticed my neutral lever was damage by the way they just pulled it didn't even know how to pull a neutral lever on these cars ? If I can give them a zero I definitely would!! You can read about other people's bad experiences at this shop, and I'm sure they all have valid complaints. I'm not here to dismiss their bad experience. This review is strictly based on my own situation, and here it is: I brought my Mercedes Metris van in here. (Maybe don't buy one of those, if you ask me.) An idiot "mechanic" from another company had done an engine swap for me (maybe a vehicle with 47k miles on it shouldn't have its engine blow up, I don't know...) and the Idiot Mechanic from the other company made a real mess of things. I'll spare you the horrible details, but the point is, Sun Auto did sort out all the incredible damage that the I.M. had done. This included replacing the control arms, tracking down a bad oil leak, and reconfiguring all the vacuum hoses and other connections to the turbocharger. Because, when you're driving from Vegas to L.A., having your turbocharger quit working makes your drive a little slower, especially going up hills. The only reason this isn't a 5-star review is because I did have to decline an enthusiastic upsell to have the struts replaced, and we did have to establish that we could source parts from someone besides the Mercedes dealer. But, they sorted things out, and I have a properly running van again. Sun Auto gets 4 out of 5 stars. Bonus feature, they gave me a ride home on one of my drop-off days. BTW, don't go looking for my review of the I.M. - there isn't one. That company has since gone out of business. read more

I took my Chrysler 200 to them because it had overheated I spoke with Scott at this shop I was told that my head gasket needed to be replaced over 3k but he advised me to replace the whole engine due to the fact that it could be more damage on the bottom which would cost 5k . DO NOT GO HERE. I requested a brake inspection and oil change, and declined the additional repairs and ended up only receiving an oil change as I did not have additional time to wait on a friday. Upon leaving, my check engine light came on. It has never come on before.. I called Sun Auto and they told me I can bring it back to take a look at my convenience. Upon returning my oil light came on and the vehicle started smoking and the cabin filled with smoke. I brought the car back and they apologized and cleaned the oil that was spilling. The tech said he didn't tighten the oil pan and was apologetic. They took over an hour to "fix" the issue.. After waiting for so long I asked Scott (the manager) if he would offer a discount or refund for the inconvenience. He declined and stated he could give me a discount if I was to bring the car back to have them do the brakes. This was upsetting. Went in knowing that nothing crazy serious was wrong with my vehicle and went to see about a couple codes on my dash and to check my ac. But being quoted $97.50 for low beam bulb labor and $58.50 for a cabin air filter is diabolical. After looking over the quote the math didn't add up I decided to not go through with the service. I did not get my vehicle back the way I left it. They didn't bother putting the air filter back or the glove compartment in its place. And when I was trying to check out for the diagnostic I was being charged 800$ once I let the receptionist know that no service was done on my vehicle she removed $400 after explaining I was only going to pay $125 diagnostic a mechanic had to come out and confirm that I was only going to pay $125 for the diagnostic because she was still trying to over charge me and was very nonchalant about it! Thanks to Eric for being friendly, informative, and what I think, honest. I'm sure I'm not the only one who hates taking their car in for service. Cuz u just never know what they find lol Outside of coming here for my oil changes; I came to check about my door "clicking." Along with telling me what was wrong with my initial problem, they told me that my fuel pump needed changing. I figured that made sense cuz my car felt odd at stops. So, I resolved that instead of my door issue lol In the next week, my check engine light came on, I called Eric about the issue. I believe they replaced the fuel pump AND the gas cap -- to make sure that wasn't the issue. Few months later, my engine light came on AGAIN. (((( I promise, this gets better! Lol ! )))) They checked it and what's cool is they emailed me photos of the fuel pump area and said it was the hose that was leaking. PROOF of the issue. I liked that!!!!!! So they replaced the hose -- and low and behold, the check engine light comes on the next week. Go back and another photo of the area -- and no leak!!!! Eric ordered an official gas cap from the dealership, instead of the OEM one they initially put on -- no charge for that gas cap! AND so far, so good. To preface this review, I work on my own cars most of the time. However, sometimes there are things that can't be fixed like the condenser on my Challenger due to the specific type of A/C recharge needed. My condenser got damaged on the highway, I explained what happened, what I had assessed, and they gave me a quote that was lower than what I had anticipated. I paid for the full car inspection and the only things that they said should be fixed were the ones that needed to be fixed. Additionally, the inspection had some suggestions on things to look for or do in the future. They did NOT try to upsell me on this and didn't even bring it up at all! I decided to get some of them done because I know how much places charge for these things. The prices here were pretty fair compared to other shops and much lower than my dealership. I took my Audi in for EPC light. The technician told me all I would need is to replace coil and spark plugs. It cost me $1,400 and they called me to pick up my vehicle. On the drive home, the light popped again, so I immediately went back and now they are saying engine is gone and going to cost me another $8,000 for new engine. As one other reviewer posted, I do everything I can myself. But, having both shoulders surgically repaired, it becomes difficult. I recently did the brakes on my truck, I did all four rotors and all of the pads. And to be clear, when I say that I did them, I had a friend of a friend do them. I did hear a noise when stepping on the brake pedal. So, I went to this location primarily because this location handles the fleet vehicles of my employer. Come to find out that of the caliper mounting brackets, one had a stripped bolt, and one bolt was missing entirely. I told them that that was all I needed. But then I was informed that they had ordered a new caliper mounting bracket. When I went to pick up the vehicle, I was delightfully surprised that the charge was less, much less than I had anticipated. No problem, I'm stuck so I guess waiting is the only option. I figured I would be gouged being that we were from out of state and were basically at their mercy. 25 minutes later my keys are handed to me. Had they really wanted to help me they would have corrected this mistake at the time I showed them the proof I had showed them from a video at the time I was in there office, but they just kept saying the same thing that there was no cooling issues and that was because they would have had to honor the warranty that the I had with the $6500 mechanical issues I had just 6 months before the truck started acting up again. Noone has time for all of this when you have a job and need a vehicle. I see that they respond to bad reviews so im hoping they could justify the $800 they had me pay to get my thermostat replaced. Because people are telling me I overpaid by $300 at least and average costs for a dodge dart suggests the same. I dont mind paying a fair price. The only reason they're getting one star is because zero star is not an option. I'm suing them over faulty "repairs" and putting my life in danger! SUN AUTO CHARGES $155/hour for labor (as a dealer does) but does subpar and DANGEROUS WORK AT BEST. Father's Day weekend of this year (June 2022) I took my Toyota RAV4 for in to make sure my vehicle was safe to drive to California. There wasn't anything wrong with it other than a humming noise when I would drive. According to the Sun Auto Services, I needed a new wheel hub assembly on both sides on front axles; which is no big deal as my vehicles had 165,000 miles on it. Upon recovering my vehicle back from them, I tried to drive away and there was a loud popping noise the came from the front, right tire area of my SUV. I stopped to check it out and I couldn't see anything. I continued to drive (as my vehicle took off the popping happened again). I continued up the road a few miles, attempted to make a U-Turn and almost lost control of my vehicle. I took it back immediately. After a 30 second drive test (which wasn't performed before returning my vehicle to begin with), they informed me the loud popping noise was probably a bent strut from being suspended in the air for so long (4hours). My struts were less than a year old and done somewhere else. This didn't make sense to me and I demanded they fix whatever was now wrong with my vehicle as it had no come in the way. At. All. I have the receipts from the strut work that was performed from Firestone on Stephanie street. All three "gentleman" standing at the service desk told me I was stupid and that nothing was wrong and they wouldn't be fixing the problem. I let them know they would in fact be paying because something is wrong and this vehicle didn't come in like it left. I was debating on pushing the issue over the first repair to begin with. I work a ton of hours and didn't want to add anything to my frantic schedule. But after the following, I'm taking legal action. Wednesday, August 3rd I was driving and accelerated from a stop light at NO MORE THAN 10 miles per hour. My right front tired again popped and this time was not drivable. It was 2:30 in the morning and I was in the hood. After waiting for 4.5 hours for a tow, my Rav went to another repair shop. Their mechanics found THAT SUN AUTO SERVICE KNOWINGLY PUT THE WRONG PARTS IN MY WHEEL HUB ASSEMBLY; not only on one side of my drive terrain, but both!!! IT THEN HAD TO BE REPAIRED CORRECTLY A SECOND TIME. Sun charged me $1,200 to fix it incorrectly the first time. The district manger of Sun Auto, "Cameron", contacted me after I contacted corporate regarding the findings of the new mechanics at Firestone Auto. Cameron proceeded to tell me they wouldn't be paying for the new repairs and that the only people I'd be talking to is their legal department because I called their shop people assholes; which is perfectly fine. They stood in their shop, told me I'm stupid, talked down to me, and did TRASH work at best on my car. I did in fact tell them that yes, they are assholes. They put my life in danger. I have signed paperwork from new mechanics, who will put their job and reputation on the line, in court to testify to the above mentioned; as well as photos and videos of everything from Firestone when they were repairing my vehicle CORRECTLY THIS TIME. I won't be posting most of them; as this is going to court. They knowingly used the wrong parts and let me drive away off their property knowing they did dangerous work. If my wheel would have come off the axle going any faster, I absolutely would have been in an accident at the minimum. At higher speeds, it could have killed me. Sun Auto and their corporate offices care about nothing more than defrauding people and taking their hard earned money. They knowingly let me drive around and leave their property with an unsafe vehicle to drive. The basic standard of care was not provided and my safety and life were both put in danger. They did not and do not care about the safety or well being of their customers. If this was one of their family members, they would have never done horrible, life-threatening and dangerous work. Because of all of this, I missed flights that were pre-booked, work at two different locations, I have stress and anxiety over this as it put it me a financially shaky situation now. I haven't slept and I haven't eaten. I would say cheaper work isn't worth the savings after what I experienced; but Sun DOES NOT charge cheaper rates. They in fact charge above par prices for subpar work. I'm contacting the better business bureau and the Attorney General of Nevada over this. DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE HERE. DO NOT PUT YOUR LIFE ON THE LINE. THERE ARE BETTER MECHANICS THAT CHARGE BETTER PRICES AND DO FAR BETTER WORK. THAT WONT PUT YOUR LIFE ON THE LINE. It is absolutely not worth it. read more

I had taken my car for routine oil change and smog at USA auto..which is around the corner of Tropicana and Ft. Apache. BIG MISTAKE. All the staff had changed and when asked if new owners they said no. Well...BEWARE...they are snake oil salesmen and will tell you need this and that and the other things. I was told my rotors were bad...then the other guy says no...it is the struts. I took the car to Sun Auto Service because I felt something was not quite right with this place and LO and BEHOLD...nothing wrong with my car other than an alighnment which I had Sun Auto do. I will never go back to USA auto again. Sun Auto is an honest and reputable buisness and right by my house. Service was prompt and no scamming going on here. These type of people are not only hard to find...but great to find. I will take my car here from now on because I was treated so well and appreciate that they are not bullshitters like USA auto. I was not fortunate in that my Mercedes SLK 55 AMG started throwing errors codes and went into limp mode while on my way to Las Vegas in Baker CA. AAA recommended Sun Auto Service and I had my car towed there. Scott attended to my car and was AWESOME! Diagnosed the issue very quickly and got started promptly on the repair. I called a couple of days ago and mentioned Autozone ran a test on my car and advised the misfire from ignition coils. They advised me to bring my car in for a FREE Engine Diagnostic, which their website even states! The guy I spoke with on the phone confirmed free inspection then they can quote me on how much it will be to fix/replace my ignition coils. Forward to today, just now I physically come here and this guy just now wanted to charge me like $80 and then changed it up to $155 I even told him I called and spoke to someone. He looks like he was just trying to hustle me and I'm in the business of customer service and this was beyond me. Sad to say but I will not be coming back and I will advise my family and friends along with my colleagues to not trust this place. Nickel and diming you for every penny. Horrible service. read more

Dang, I really hate leaving this review because I truly like coming here for my oil change. Simple fast and affordable. Well this oil change I had a check engine light on, so I asked if they could let me know what's up, so they called me and told me it was going to be $1400 to fix it, so I told them I would call them back. I never called them back and just went to pick up my car(seeing as we have our own mechanic, we just don't bother him for oil changes) as we are at the counter I see my keys on a clip board with a receipt for $135. As he was looking for our clip board I pointed out to him that it's right here. He told me, "No, that's another pathfinder" lol but I know my keys. And he takes it to a back office and walked into the shop. As he comes back, he goes into the same office, picks up my keys and brings them to me. Now the total is $200. Wow. Cory at the front Was extremely helpful. Gave me all my options. Wasn't pushy. Checked my wife's passenger side headlight and my back running lights super fast and didn't even charge her for the swap. Not saying that's something they always do but the fact that he did it speaks very highly of his professionalism and willingness to help out customers.
