Sold me on 1hr diagnostics ($200) & then another hour ($400 Total) Said I needed new breaks & new rotors and breaks ($1700) and a new master cylinder ($3500) ********************* Took it to Toyota Dealership: they said master cylinder is fine, and they resurfaced my rotors + new break pads 725$. I was really hoping to like this place. It would have been so convenient to bring my car here when necessary since it is so close to my house. My experience with MVR was disappointing, to say the least. Late last week the dreaded "Check Engine" light came on and the code I got from the reader was B0101. Issues with mass air flow sensor. I called a few places and got a few quotes to replace the sensor. These quotes ranged from the $450-$600 range. MVR told me to bring it in and have a diagnostic test run for $150.00. This $150 would then be used as a credit towards the bill. After the diagnostic test, I was floored when I was quoted $998 plus tax. Their estimate included the statement that there was a "short in the harness" that needed to be repaired. Fortunately for me, the diagnostic test that was run today at another business did not find this short. I had the repairs taken care of for just a shade under $400. So basically, I paid $150 for them to look at my car and give me a quote that was more than double what I actually paid to have it taken care of. Definitely one and done. 1 star. read more

I've been going to MVR for years, and it's changed hands a few times since then, but has always had a high standard of service. Under Ardy and Mel and co., it's the best it has ever been. They're just awesome at what they do and incredibly friendly. I usually go for oil changes because it's too messy to deal with in my suburban garage, but they've helped me with a lot of major repairs over the years too, which helped keep my Honda going for over 200,000 miles! Expertise and cars are always an expensive intersection, but MVR's prices are predictable and fair, especially given their attention to detail and reliability. I'm always treated with warm friendliness and respect in their office, updated with phone calls, and personally provided with thorough photo documentation and explanations whenever concerns are found. Seriously, I've been given more personalized attention here than I've gotten from most doctors! An example of this is my most recent visit to get my battery replaced. Ardy gave me a call when he found out there would be a slight delay because the vendor's batteries weren't up to standard, because he tests batteries before installing them. (New batteries will drop in quality the longer they sit on a shelf). I really appreciate that level of respect and commitment to taking care of their clients. Finally, I try to educate myself as much as possible about fixing my own vehicle whenever I can. Some mechanics can be a bit snobby when an amateur tries to talk shop, but not MVR. I really feel like they're on my team with keeping my vehicle running, and while they'll make a lot of suggestions with various levels of immediacy, I always feel it's in good faith, and I never feel pressured or "upsold". I have been looking for a new auto repair vendor and thought of my friend Lennette's daughter and son in law Ardi who own MVR Auto Repair on Windmill. I have a 2019 Kia Soul that I purchased new from Findlay Kia and for the past several months, after 10 years, notice changes in the service department, especially customer service. Today I went to MVR Auto and was met by my friend Lennette who introduced me to the owner Ardi. My issue was that I had been told I needed front brake job and a brake flush. I had a gut feeling something was not correct. I have very low mileage on my car and wanted another opinion. I explained all of this to Ardi. He told me they would do a complete inspection of my vehicle first and check the brakes. My car was assigned to Allen. They would get back to me later in the day. Tomi-Sue was great and drove me to work. Mid day I received a text of my complete inspection, pictures including pictures of the brake pads, rotors etc. My car did not need brakes and everything with my car was fine. It was recommended that I get the 30/60/90/K service of all the fluids as it has never been done. I proceeded to have them perform this. They saved me a very expensive, unnecessary brake job. I appreciate their honesty and being up front about what I needed and did not need. The entire team I dealt with from Ardi, Lennette, Tomi-Sue and Allen were fantastic; professional, friendly and so easy to deal with. They kept in touch with me about my car and made my visit a pleasant experience. I will be returning for all future service needs for my car. MVR, you have a new client. I asked for a quote to replace a clutch and rear main seal. This guy sent me an inspection quote of $300. He then accidentally sent another quote intended for a different customer for the same inspection for $150. I didn't ask for an inspection, I know what a slipping clutch feels like and what a leaking rear main seal looks like. I called him out on it and he said it costs more to look at a Porsche. To inspect a car it costs more?? To repair a Porsche, of course, but not to do an inspection. Watch out, these guys aren't on the up and up. read more

MVR is getting a 1 star and that is solely left just for Mike as this was when we trusted MVR Auto. He went above and beyond for customer service even to the point of getting us a car while waiting for repairs to be done - true example of a Ma and Pa ran shop. The last time we brought our vehicle there it was less than great as the issue brought in for was not repaired completely and they informed us more issues were needed on top of what we had fixed, fine paid and on our way. Most recent scenario had us never wanting to bring our car back and will advise anyone to steer clear. For starters I will be clear, have an older vehicle, 2009 Hyundai, that has numerous issues but let's face it, this keeps mechanics in business. The fuel line needs to be repaired. Had the car towed in on a Friday morning. Checked in roughly 3 hours after delivered to be informed that they were short a tech and would try their best to get me the estimate at 6:00 that day but would for sure have this to me by the following Monday. Understandable. Monday arrives and I receive a call of course trying to install fear on things. I was clear that I am aware of the repairs but wanted them to move forward with the fuel line and we will be making additional repairs over time. MVR then ordered parts from the Hyundai dealership. We did our own research and learned that the cost from the dealership. This was $240 for the two ordered. I asked for an itemized estimate which they labeled as $350. When I inquired about the increase I was told this cost also included supplies and waste. Interesting as this cost was 2 separate line items at their own cost. Whatever I just want this completed and move on. Thursday arrives and we are contacted by MVR to be told that the parts ordered were faulty and the last 2 nationwide and that he (Ardi) was going to get on Ebay to find the parts! Really?? Is this what makes a good mechanic? On top of this, if we stayed with them it would have been an additional week and half for the car to be "Repaired!" I ended up calling Meineke and inquiring about the part. They confirmed with me while on the phone that they could get access to this part. The following day, I made arrangements for my car to be towed to this location but not without having to pay $100 for the diagnostic. This part was only paid because I want my car fixed and if MVR held the resources and competence in the services provided I would have paid the $1400 quoted originally. **side note: Meineke did say they are towed vehicles from MVR on regular basis** In the end, happy I moved my vehicle and was actually quoted $500 less than what MVR provided and with a quick turn around. In the end, just avoid this place at all costs as the promises are big but service is far less than what you may think. P.S. Ardi, I notice you reply to many of these. Please spare us any comment back as it is all smoke and mirrors. read more

Firstly, the great reviews here are 100% legit & well-earned. After bringing my car here for the first time, I can't see myself going anywhere else. I hadn't had AC in over a year and a half, and avoided bringing my car in because I was dreading the process & the cost. Pickup and drop off was super seamless. Before any repairs, they talked me through EXACTLY what was wrong with my vehicle and didn't try to upsell me on any additional services. You can tell that the owner takes a lot of pride in his business, & the work, service, and efficiency show that. Overall, pricing was super reasonable and I got my car back quickly. Decided to give MVR Auto Repair a try after trying out several different auto shops and being pretty unhappy with all of them. Other repair shops boast "same day service," which is awesome in theory, IF the job is done CORRECTLY and FULLY. It doesn't do me any good to be able to pick up my car same day I dropped it off, only to find the problem isn't fixed, which is what has happened to me in the past. Ardi was very courteous, attentive, and informative when we explained what we needed done. We dropped off my car, he called me a bit later with the results of the diagnostics test. I needed a bit of work done and the price was competitive with other shops. He ended up keeping my car for a few days (plus the weekend) because he wanted to keep testing everything to make sure everything they worked on was actually fixed before I picked it up. MVR they are straught up thieves. What happen to goos auto shops. Wow. I looked up a new engine and a certified toyota tacoma 2.4 liter cost $1200 new. Guess ill be playi g mechanic next weekend.
