So I'm from LA and I came out here to visit a friend and needed a fresh cut. Looked around on yelp and saw a lot of places, but way too many with strange reviews or sus pictures. I decided to go with this one and do not regret my decision whatsoever. I'm a bit of a indecisive guy, and to make it worse my hair is super stubborn and curly. Even worse? I have a hard time choosing the best hairstyle for me. I gave the gentleman who cut my hair a bit of an idea what I want and we went over my options and what'll look good. We decided to go with his recommendation and I love it. Didnt take much time out of my day and it looked dope almost immediately. This place is a gem! The barber here has been cutting hair for 40 years and has been in this exact shop for over 30 years. A very nice gentleman who cut my hair the best it's been cut in a very long time. I have thick curly hair, and he managed to trim and shape my hair exactly how I wanted it! Man... Sun didn't cut my hair to what I asked. I asked for a 3 on top with a skin fade and not to go in on the top and to keep it straight vertically to keep the shape, and to line up the side; He then proceeded to give a straight military cut with, a skin fade way above the crown of skull. 3 and skin with no blending what so ever. The shape from the top to the rest of the head is so abnormal. Definitely going to a new barber. read more

So today was my first visit to Sun. What a friendly, kind man. As others have said, it is an old school shop. His grandson was playing in the lobby flying paper airplanes. Soon he walked over to me, handed me one and then ran away to catch it when I threw it. So cute! Sun is very detail oriented when it comes to the cut. Mine is simple; number two all around. He is very nice man, humble and low key. I requested for a skin bald fade with some sharp lines. Unfortunately, did not quite come out what I expected. Not to be bashful, Mr. Sun did the best he could. I still tipped him well for his attempt. His services are fairly priced for "simple haircuts". Several days latter looks just as good as the day he cut it, very easy to restyle at home. Nothing fancy at this shop but it is clean and in a safe neighborhood. Price was very reasonable. Old school barber... in the best way. Sun is very detail oriented. Due to my picky nature, I tend to finding things to trim after a haircut. Not with Sun, he gets it right the first time. He finishes you up with a straight razor and slaps on the after shave. I am leaving a review for Sun because it looks like he needs help. Sun is a nice guy hes from Korea. I think he said hes been livin in the US for 30 years or was it hes been a barber for 30 years? Anyways the guy will cut your hair the way you like it. Hes good at cutting short hair for $15 he needs business badly the area he is in is not very populated. Hes located behind the King Skate Country building over to the left side behind the korean marketplace. Try him out hes really nice guy and will try his best. How many barbers and salons offer that? FINALLY! This is probably the first haircut I've gotten in 10 years that I haven't had to come home and touch up myself. Being former military, I like to keep it neat and short, but almost every place I've been to seems to miss a spot here, or a few straggling hairs there, or can't blend the longer hair on top into the short hair on the sides, etc. I've tried barbershops with 60-100 5 star yelp reviews and still had to come home and clean up the cut. I guess I'm just anal about my hair. Well, Mr. Sun is the first barber I've found who spends as much time on my hair as I would. Going back and double- and triple-checking spots, making sure they blend when wet or dry. He's also one of the few to use thinning shears on top in addition to a scissor over comb and clippers. 5 stars for the cut 5 stars for the service 5 stars for the price 2 stars for the ambiance. That's why I only gave 4 stars, but I could really care less how much stainless steel you have, how many flatscreen TVs or magazines you have if I can't get my damn hair cut correctly.
